従来、 紙おむつ等の吸収性物品に用いられる架橋重合体には、 保 水量が多いことと荷重下での吸収量が多いことが要望され、 色々な 方法で改善がなされてきた。 保水量を高める方法としては、 重合開 始剤量、 重合温度、 重合濃度等を変え最適化する方法の他に、 チォ ール化合物等の連鎖移動剤を使用する方法 (特開平 3— 1 7 9 0 0 8号公報) 等が提案されている。 一方、 荷重下での吸収性能を高め る方法として、 重合体粒子の表面近傍を処理する方法が数多く提案 されている (特許第 2 6 7 5 2 9号公報、 E P A 6 1 8 0 0 5号公 報等)。
しかしながら、 これらの方法では、 どう しても特性が偏ってしま い、 架橋重合体が保水性能と荷重下での吸収性能の両方を同時に満 足せず、 このため吸収性物品に使用した場合に吸収性能が十分では なく、 さらなる改良が望まれている。 本発明者らは、 吸収性物品に 使用した場合に優れた吸収性能を発現する架橋重合体を得るべく鋭 意検討した結果、 本発明に到達した。
本発明は保水性能と荷重下での吸収性能の両方を同時に満足する 架橋重合体及びその製法を提供することを目的とする。 また別の発 明は生理用ナプキン等の衛生用品に本発明の架橋重合体を適用した 場合、 優れた吸収性能を示す吸収性構造物、 吸収性物品を提供する ことを目的とする。 発明の概要
即ち本発明は、 下記 ( I ) 〜 ( I V) の発明である。
( I ) 水溶性のビニル系モノマー及び/又は加水分解により水溶性 となる群から選ばれる 1種または 2種以上のビニル系モノマー (a) 及び架橋剤 (b) を必須構成単位とし、 下記①〜③の要件を具備す る架橋重合体 (A)。

(架橋重合体及びその製法)
本発明において、 水溶性のビニル系モノマー及び/又は加水分解 によ り水溶性となるビニル系モノマー ( a) としては特に限定はな いが、 水溶性のビニル系モノマー (a l ) としては、 例えば少なく とも 1個の酸基及び/若しくはその塩形成基 [カルボン酸 (塩) 基、 スルホン酸 (塩) 基、 硫酸 (塩) 基、 燐酸 (塩) 基等]、 水酸基、 ァ ミ ド基、 アミ ノ基、 4級アンモニゥム塩基等の親水性基を有するビ ニル系モノマーが挙げられ、 ァニオン性、 非イオン性、 カチオン性 モノマーに分類でき、 例えば下記のものが挙げられる。
( i ) ァニオン性もしくはァニオン性になるビニル系モノマー

( i i i 一 2 ) 第 4級アンモニゥム基を有するビニル系モノマ一 としては、 3級ァミノ基含有ビニル重合性モノマーの 4級化物 (前 記 3級アミノ基含有ビニル重合性モノマーを炭素数 1 ~ 8のアルキ ル化剤例えばメチルクロライ ド、 ジメチル硫酸、 ベンジルクロライ ド、 ジメチルカ一ボネー ト等の 4級化剤を用いて 4級化したもの)、 例えば、 ト リメチルアミ ノエチル (メタ) ァク リ レー ト · クロライ ド、 メチルジェチルアミ ノエチル (メタ) ァク リ レー ト · メタサル フェー ト、 ト リメチルアミ ノエチル (メタ) アク リルアミ ド · クロ ライ ド、 ジェチルベンジルアミ ノエチル (メタ) アク リルアミ ド - ク口ライ ド等が挙げられる。
加水分解によ り水溶性となるビニル系モノマ一 ( a 2 ) としては、 少なく とも 1個の加水分解性基 [酸無水物基、 低級アルキル (炭素 数 1〜 3 ) エステル基、 二 ト リル基等] を有するビニル系モノマ一 が挙げられる。 酸無水物基を有するビニル系モノマーとしては例え ば、 無水マレイ ン酸、 無水ィタコン酸、 無水シ トラコン酸等の炭素 数 4 ~ 2 0のビニル系モノマ一、 エステル基を有する系重合性モノ マーとしては、 例えば、 モノエチレン性不飽和カルボン酸の低級ァ ルキル ( C 1〜 C 3 ) エステル [例えば、 (メタ) ァク リル酸メチル- (メタ) アク リル酸ェチル等]、 モノエチレン性不飽和アルコールの エステル [例えば、 酢酸ビニル、 酢酸 (メタ) ァリル等] 等が挙げ られる。 二 ト リル基を有するビニル系モノマーと しては、 例えば、 (メタ) アク リ ロニ ト リル等が挙げられる。 これらのビニル系モノ マー ( a 2 ) の加水分解は重合時であつても重合後であつてもよく、 通常加水分解によって塩を形成し水溶性となる。 塩と しては前記の 塩形成基に記載した塩と同じものがあげられる。
これらのうちビニル系モノマー ( a ) として、 好ま しいものは、 水溶性のビニル系モノマー ( a 1 ) である。 更に好ま しいものは、 カルボン酸 (塩) 基、 スルホン酸 (塩) 基、 アミ ド基を有するビニ ル系モノマーであり、 特に好ましくは (メタ) アク リル酸 (塩)、 (メ 夕) アク リルアミ ドである。 これらビニル系モノマー ( a) は単独 で使用してもよ く、 また、 必要により 2種以上を併用してもよい。
また、 前記ビニル系モノマ一 ( a 1 )、 ( a 2 ) と共重合可能なそ の他のビニル系モノマー ( a 3 ) を併用して重合することが出来る。 共重合可能なその他のビニル系モノマ一 ( a 3 ) としては、 疎水性 ビニル系モノマーが挙げられるが、 これらに限定されるわけではな い o
ビニル系モノマー ( a 3 ) としては下記の ( i ) 〜 ( i v) のビ ニル系モノマーが挙げられる。
( ί ) 炭素数 8〜 3 0の芳香族エチレン性モノマー ;
スチレン、 ひ一メチルスチレン、 ビニル トルエン、 ヒ ドロキシスチ レン等
のスチレン類、 ビニルナフタレン類、 ジクロルスチレン等のスチレ ン類のハロゲン置換体等 ;

ビニル系モノマ一 ( a 3 ) のモノマーの配合量はビュル系モノマ ― ( a ) のモノマ一に対して好ましくは 0〜 5 0重量%であ り、 さ らに好ましくは 0〜 2 5重量%である。
本発明において、 架橋剤 ( b ) としてはビニル系モノマー ( a ) の重合時に併用される第一架橋剤 ( b l ) と、 必要により重合後に 乾燥粉砕して粒子としその粒子の表面を架橋する表面架橋剤 (第二 架橋剤) ( b 2 ) とがある。 第一架橋剤 ( b 1 ) としては、 例えばェ チレン性不飽和基を 2個以上有する架橋剤、 ビニル系モノマ一 ( a ) の官能基と反応し得る官能基を少なく とも 1個有し且つ少なく とも
1個のエチレン性不飽和基とを有する架橋剤、 ビニル系モノマ一
( a ) の官能基と反応し得る官能基を少なく とも 2個以上有する架 橋剤などが挙げられる。
( i ) エチレン性不飽和基を 2個以上有する架橋剤と しては、 N, N ' —メチレンビス (メタ) アク リルアミ ド、 エチレングリ コール ジ (メタ) ァク リ レー ト、 ポリエチレングリコ一ルジ (メタ) ァク リ レー ト、 プロ ピレングリコールジ (メタ) ァク リ レート、 グリセ リ ン (ジまたは ト リ) ァク リ レー ト、 ト リメチロールプロパン ト リ ァク リ レー ト、 ト リ ァ リルァミ ン、 ト リ ァ リルシアヌ レー ト、 ト リ ァリルイ ソシァヌ レー ト、 テ トラァリ ロキシェタン、 ペン夕エリス リ トール ト リアリルエーテル等が挙げられる。
( i i ) ビニル系モノマ一 ( a ) の官能基 (例えばカルボキシル基) と反応し得る官能基を少なく とも 1個有し且つ少なく とも 1個のェ チレン性不飽和基とを有する架橋剤としては、 カルボン酸 (塩) 基、 ヒ ドロキシル基、 ァミ ノ基等と反応し得る官能基を少なく とも 1個 有し且つ少なく とも 1個のェチレン性不飽和基とを有する架橋剤等 が挙げられ、 例えば、 グリ シジル (メタ) ァク リ レー ト等のェポキ シ基を有するエチレン性不飽和基、 N —メチロール (メタ) ァク リ ルアミ ド、 ヒ ドロキシェチル (メタ) ァク リ レー ト等の水酸基を有 するェチレン性不飽和基が挙げられる。
( i i i ) ビニル系モノマー ( a ) の官能基と反応し得る官能基を 少なく とも 2個以上有する架橋剤としては、 カルボン酸 (塩) 基、 ヒ ドロキシル基、 アミ ノ基等と反応し得る官能基を少なく ともを 2 個以上有する架橋剤であり、 例えば 1分子中にエポキシ基を 2〜 1 0個有するポリ グリシジルエーテル化合物 [ェチレングリ コ一ルジ グリシジルエーテル、 グリセ リ ン一 1 , 3—ジグリシジルェ一テル、 グリセ リ ン ト リ グリシジルェ一テル、 ポリエチレングリコール (重 合度 2〜 1 0 0 ) ジグリ シジルェ一テル、 ポリ グリセロール (重合 度 2〜 1 0 0 ) ポリグリシジルェ一テル等] ; 2価〜 2 0価のポリオ ール化合物 [グリセリ ン、 エチレングリコール、 ポリエチレングリ コール (重合度 2〜 1 0 0 ) 等] ; 2価〜 2 0価のポリアミ ン化合物 (エチレンジァミ ン、 ジエチレン ト リアミ ン等); 分子量 2 0 0〜 5 0 0, 0 0 0のポリアミ ン系樹脂 (ポリアミ ドポリアミ ンェピクロ ロヒ ド リ ン樹脂、 ポリアミ ンェピクロロヒ ド リ ン樹脂等)、 アルキレ ンカ一ボネイ ト [エチレン力一ボネイ ト等]、 アジリ ジン化合物、 ポ リイ ミ ン化合物等が挙げられる。 これらの架橋剤は単独で使用して もよく、 又は、 2種以上を併用してもよい。
第一架橋剤 ( b l ) の使用量は、 ビニル系モノマー ( a ) の質量 又はビニル系モノマ一 ( a ) 及びビニル系モノマ一 ( a 3 ) の合計 質量に基づいて、 0. 0 0 1〜 5 . 0質量%が好まし く、 さ らに好 ましくは 0. 0 0 2〜 2質量%であり、 特に好ましく は 0. 0 0 3 〜 1. 6質量%である。 第一架橋剤 (b l ) の量が 0. 0 0 1質量% 以上であると保水 · 吸収能力が良好となり、 5. 0 %質量以下であ ると架橋が強くなりすぎず、 保水 · 吸収能力も低下しない。
本発明おける架橋重合体 (A) の重合方法は、 架橋重合体 (A) が上記各特性を現出するこ とが可能であれば、 特に限定されず、 従 来から知られている方法でよく、 例えば開始剤を使用した溶液重合 法、 乳化重合法、 懸濁重合法、 逆相懸濁重合法、 薄膜重合法、 噴霧 重合法等が挙げられる。 重合制御の方法では断熱重合法、 温度制御 重合法、 等温重合法等が挙げられる。 重合方法として懸濁重合法ま たは逆相懸濁重合法をとる場合は、 必要に応じて、 従来公知の分散 剤、 保護コロイ ド、 界面活性剤、 あるいはこれらの 2種以上の混合 物の存在下に重合を行う。 また、 逆相懸濁重合法の場合、 従来から 公知のシクロへキサン、 ノルマルへキサン、 ノルマルへブタン、 キ シレン等の溶媒を使用して重合を行う。 好ましくは重合開始剤を使 用した溶液重合法であ り、 特に好ましく は、 有機溶媒等を使用する 必要がなく、 生産コス ト面で有利なことから水溶液重合法である。 重合開始剤 ( c ) と しては、 ァゾ系開始剤、 過酸化物系開始剤、 レ ドックス系開始剤及び有機ハロゲン化合物開始剤であれば特に限 定はなく従来公知のものが使用できる。 具体的には下記のものが挙 げられる。
( i ) ァゾ系開始剤としては、 ァゾビスイ ソプチロニ ト リル、 ァゾ ビスシァノ吉草酸及びその塩、 2 , 2 ' —ァゾビス ( 2 —アミジノ プロパン) ハイ ド口クロライ ド、 2 , 2 ' ーァゾビス ( 2 —メチル 一 N— ( 2 —ヒ ドロキシェチル) プロピオンアミ ド等 ;
( i i ) 過酸化物系開始剤としては無機過酸化物 [過酸化水素、 過 硫酸アンモニゥム、 過硫酸力リウム、 過硫酸ナ ト リ ウム等]、 有機過 酸化物 [過酸化べンゾィル、 ジー t 一ブチルパーォキサイ ド、 クメ ンヒ ドロパーオキサイ ド、 コハク酸パーオキサイ ド、 ジ ( 2 —エ ト キシェチル) パ一ォキシジカーボネート等] ;
( i i i ) レ ド ックス系開始剤と しては、 アルカ リ金属の亜硫酸塩 若しくは重亜硫酸塩、 亜硫酸アンモニゥム、 重亜硫酸アンモニゥム、 塩化第 2鉄、 硫酸第 2鉄、 ァスコルビン酸等の還元剤とアルカ リ金 属の過硫酸塩、 過硫酸アンモニゥム、 過酸化水素、 有機過酸化物な ど酸化剤との組合せよ りなるもの等が挙げられる。
( i V ) 有機ハロゲン化合物開始剤のハロゲンとしては、 弗素、 塩 素、 臭素、 沃素である。
有機ハロゲン化合物としては特に限定はないが、 重合性の観点か ら好ましくはハロゲン化アルキル、 ハロゲン化アルキルフエ二ルケ トン、 ノ、ロゲン化アルキルカルボン酸、 ハロゲン化アルキルカルボ ン酸アルキルエステルからなる群から選ばれるハロゲン数 1〜 1 0 又はそれ以上、 炭素数 1〜 1 5又はそれ以上の有機ハロゲン化合物 である。 さらに好まし くは、 テ トラクロロメタン、 ト リクロロブ口 モメタン、 ト リ クロロヨ一 ドメタン、 ジクロロメチルフエ二ルケ ト ン、 1 —ブロモ— 1 —メチルェチルカルボン酸、 アルキル基の炭素 数 1〜 8の 1 ーブロモ— 1 ーメチルェチルカルボン酸アルキルエス テル (例えば 1 一ブロモ— 1—メチルェチルカルボン酸メチル、 1 ーブロモ— 1 —メチルェチルカルボン酸ェチル、 1 —ブロモー 1 一 メチルェチルカルボン酸ォクチル、 1—ブロモ— 1 —メチルェチル カルボン酸ラウ リル) である。 特に好ま しく は、 ジクロロメチルフ ェニルケ トン、 アルキル基炭素数 1〜 8の 1 —ブロモ— 1 一メチル ェチルカルボン酸アルキルエステルである。
これらの開始剤は、 単独で使用してもよ く、 2種以上を併用して もよい。 好ま し くはァゾ系開始剤、 レ ド ックス系開始剤及びその併 用である。
重合開始剤 ( c ) の使用量は、 ビニル系モノ マー ( a) 及び架橋 剤 (b) の合計質量又はビニル系モノマー ( a )、 ビニル系モノマー ( a 3 ) 及び架橋剤 ( b) の合計質量に基づいて、 0. 0 0 5〜 0. 5質量%が好ま しく、 さらに好ま しくは 0. 0 0 7〜 0. 4質量% であり、 特に好ましくは 0. 0 0 9〜 0. 3質量%である。
本発明の架橋重合体 (A) が上記各特性を現出するためには、 架 橋重合体 (A) の高分子量化が必須であ り、 そのために例えば架橋 重合体 ( A) は下記の①〜③のいずれかの方法で得ることができる。 これらの方法を組み合わせてもよい。
① 重合液中のビニル系モノマー ( a ) 及び架橋剤 ( b ) の合計量又 はビニル系モノマ一 ( a )、 ビニル系モノマー ( a 3 ) 及び架橋剤
( b ) の合計量 (全ビニル系モノマー) の濃度が 2 0質量%以下 で重合させる。
②重合液中の全ビニル系モノマーの好ましくは 7 0質量%以上、 さ らに好ましくは 8 0質量%以上を 6 0 °C以下の重合温度で且つ好 ましくは ± 5 °C、 さらに好ましくは ± 2 °Cの温度管理幅の一定の 温度で重合させる。 全ビニル系モノマーの 70質量%以上という 大部分を 6 0 °C以下の温度で定温重合させるものである。
③金属元素 (d l ) と陰イオンもしくは中性分子の配位子 (d 2 ) との錯化合物 (d) の存在下で重合させる。
本発明の架橋重合体 (A) としては、 ③による架橋重合体が特に 好ましい。
錯化合物 (d) は、 金属元素 (d l ) と陰イオン若しくは中性分 子の配位子 ( d 2 ) との錯化合物であり、 金属元素 ( d 1 ) が、 陰 イオンあるいは中性分子である配位子 (d 2 ) によって取り囲まれ た構造を有する。
金属元素 ( d 1 ) としては、 金属元素であれば特に限定はないが、 例えば主族元素金属である I A族元素金属 (リチウム、 ナ ト リ ウム、 カ リ ウム、 セシウム等)、 I B族元素金属 (銅、 銀、 金等)、 I I A 族元素金属 (マグネシウム、 カルシウム、 ノ、'リ ウム等)、 I I I A族 元素金属 (スカンジウム、 イ ッ ト リ ウム)、 I I I B族元素金属 (ァ ルミ二ゥム、 ガリウム、 イ ンジウム、 タ リ ウム等)、 I V A族元素金 属 (チタン、 ジルコニウム、 ハフニウム)、 I VB族元素金属 (錫、 亜鉛等)、 VA族元素金属 (バナジウム、 ニオブ、 タンタル)、 V B 族元素金属 (アンチモン、 ビスマス等)、 V I A族元素金属 (クロム, モリブデン、 タングステン)、 V I B族元素金属 (テルル、 ポロニゥ ム等)、 V I I A族元素金属 (マンガン、 テクネチウム、 レニウム)、 V I I I族元素金属 (鉄、 コバル ト、 ニッケル、 ルテニウム、 ロジ ゥム、 パラジウム、 オスミ ウム、 イ リジウム、 白金)、 ランタノイ ド 族元素金属 (ランタン、 セ リ ウム等)、 ァクチノィ ド族元素金属 (ァ クチ二ゥム、 ト リ ウム等) 等が挙げられる。 ビニル重合性モノマー の重合性の観点から好ましくは、 I B族、 I I I A族、 I VA族、 VA族、 V I A族、 V I I A族、 V I I I族、 ラ ンタ ノィ ド族元素 金属であり、 さらに好ましくは、 I B族、 V I I I族、 ランタノィ ド族元素金属であり、 特に好ましくは、 I B族、 4〜 6周期の V I I I族元素金属である。 取り扱いやすさの作業性等の観点から最も 好ましくは、 5周期の V I I I族元素金属 (ルテニウム; ロジウム、 パラジウム) である。
該金属元素 (d l ) は、 通常陽イオンとして存在するが、 陽ィォ ン以外、 例えば、 ペン夕カルボニル鉄のように中性であっても構わ ない。
陰イオン若しくは中性分子の配位子 ( d 2 ) としては、 陰イオン あるいは中性分子である配位子であれば、 特に限定はないが、 例え ば①水素、 ハロゲンから選ばれる原子の陰イオン、 ②窒素、 酸素、 燐、 硫黄から選ばれる原子を 1種または 2種以上有する化合物、 ③ 共役系化合物から選ばれる 1種または 2種以上が挙げられる。
具体的には下記のものが挙げられる。
①水素、 ハロゲンから選ばれる原子の陰イオン ;
水素、 弗素、 塩素、 臭素、 沃素の陰イオン ;

錯化合物 (d) の合成法としては、 通常金属元素 (d 1 ) の塩 (例 えば金属のハロゲン化物等) 及び陰イオン若しくは中性分子の配位 子 ( d 2 ) を室温で混合することによって得られる。 また、 別の中 間の錯化合物を形成した後、 目的の錯化合物を作る場合もある。 金 属元素 ( d 1 ) の塩及び陰イオン若しくは中性分子の配位子 ( d 2 ) はそのままで又は水溶液/溶剤溶液に溶解した後混合してもよいし、 水溶液/溶剤溶液中で混合しても よい。 必要であれば 3 0〜 2 0 0°Cに加熱してもよい。 取り除くべき物質が生成する場合には減圧 下で除去してもよい。 生成した錯化合物 (d) はそのまま又は結晶 として取り出し、 精製して使用してもよい。 ここで用いられる溶剤 としては例えば、 アルコール系溶媒 (メタノール、 エタノール等)、 ケ トン系溶媒(アセ ト ン、 メチルェチルケ トン等)、 アミ ド系溶媒(N: N—ジメチルホルムアミ ド、 N—メチルビロ リ ドン等)、 スルホキシ ド系溶媒 (ジメチルスルホキシ ド等)、 及びこれらの 2種以上の混合 物をあげることができる。

配位の形態は、 特に限定なく、 端座配位 (配位子として例えば ト リフエニルホスフィ ン)、 2座配位 (配位子として例えばエチレンジ ァミ ン)、 3〜 6座である多座配位 (配位子として例えばテルピリジ ン) があるが、 通常はこれらが複合した配位の形態をとる。 また、 錯化合物 ( d ) としては通常、 電荷を持たない非電解質型錯化合物 であるが、 電荷をもつ錯陽イオン、 錯陰イオン等の電解質型錯化合 物であってもよい。

さらに重合性、 操作性の観点から錯化合物 ( d ) は、 水又は水溶 性有機溶媒に溶解する錯化合物であるこ とが好ましい。 水溶性有機 溶媒としては、 前記の錯化合物 ( d ) を合成する際に用いられるも のと同じものが挙げられる。
ビニル系モノマー ( a) 及び架橋剤 ( b ) の質量又はビニル系モ ノマー ( a)、 ビニル系モノマー ( a 3 ) 及び架橋剤 (b ) の合計質 量に基づいて、 好ましくは錯化合物 ( d ) の量は 0. 0 0 5 p p m 〜 2質量%、 金属元素 ( d l ) の量が 0. O O l p p n!〜 1質量% であり、 さらに好ましくは錯化合物 ( d ) の量が、 0. O l p pm ~ 1質量%、 金属元素 ( d l ) の量が 0. 0 0 5 ρ ρ π!〜 0. 5質 量%、 特に好ましくは錯化合物 ( d ) の量が、 0. 0 2 ρ ρ π!〜 0. 6質量%、 金属元素 ( d l ) の量が 0. 0 1 p p m〜 0. 3質量% である。
錯化合物 ( d ) の量は 0. 0 0 5 ρ ρ π!〜 2質量%、 ( d l ) の量 が 0. O O l p p n!〜 1質量%であると、 吸収性物品としての性能 を発揮すると共に、 該ビニル系モノマーの重合速度、 重合率も十分 となり、 生産性が良好である。
錯化合物 ( d ) の水性重合液に対する溶解性が低い場合は、 水溶 性有機溶媒、 界面活性剤等を併用して前記ビニル系モノマー ( a) の水性重合液に溶解又は分散させて重合を行うこともできる。
本発明において、 水溶性及び/又は加水分解によ り水溶性となる 1種以上のビニル系モノマー ( a ) は水の存在下でビニル重合する のが好ま しい。 重合濃度、 すなわち重合液中の全ビニル系モノマ一 [ビニル系モノマー ( a) 及び ( b ) の合計質量又はビニル系モノ マ一 ( a)、 ビニル系モノマ一 ( a 3 ) 及び ( b ) の合計質量 (全ビ ニル系モノマ一)] の濃度は、 重合液の合計質量に基づいて、 好ま し くは 1 0〜 4 5質量%、 さらに好ましく は 1 2〜 4 0質量%、 特に 好ま しく は 1 5 ~ 3 5質量%である。 全ビニル系モノマーの濃度が 1 0質量%以上である と、 重合後の使用に対して十分な濃度であり 効率的である。 一方、 4 5質量%以下であると、 錯化合物 ( d ) を 使用した場合には得られる重合体の分子量が低くならず、 及び自己 架橋等の副反応も起こ らず主鎖の分子量分布が狭く な り、 得られる 重合体は、 上記した保水量、 荷重下における吸収量等の各特性を現 出することが可能となる。 水の量は全体の 9 0 - 5 5質量%である のが好ま しい。 水の量が 9 0質量%以下であると重合後の使用に対 して十分な濃度であり効率的である。 5 5質量%以上であると得ら れる重合体主鎖の分子量が低くならず、 及び自己架橋等の副反応も 起こらず分子量分布が狭くなり本発明の各特性を現出するこ とが可 能となる。
本発明のビニル系モノマー ( a ) 及び架橋剤 ( b ) の重合におい て、 重合温度、 時間等のその他の重合条件は特に限定がなく、 本発 明の各特性を現出することが可能であれば、 特に限定されず、 公知 の条件でよく、 例えば、 重合開始温度は使用する重合開始剤の種類 によって種々変えることができるが、 通常、 一 5 °C〜 9 0 °C、 好ま しくは 2 °C〜 7 0 °Cである。 また、 連鎖移動剤 (例えば、 イ ソプロ パノール、 チオール系連鎖移動剤、 次亜燐酸ナ ト リ ウム等) 等を添 加しても差し支えない。
また、 グラフ ト基材を存在させて重合するこ ともできる。 このグ ラフ ト基材としてはデンプン及びセルロース等の天然糖類又はその 変性体、 ポリアルキレンオキサイ ド、 ポリ ビニルアルコール、 ポリ (メタ) ァク リ レート、 ポリエステル等の水溶性若しくは水分散性 の合成樹脂等が挙げられる。
得られる架橋重合体を、 必要によ り含水ゲルの状態で前記の架橋剤 ( i i i ) やイオン架橋を形成しう る多価金属化合物類 (塩化カル シゥム、 硫酸マグネシウム、 硫酸アルミニウム等) 等と混練して更 に架橋せしめることもできる。 これによ り比較的均一な架橋になり、 高いゲル強度と、 水可溶性成分量の少ない架橋重合体が製造できる。
このようにして得られる架橋重合体の含水ゲル状重合体を、 乾燥 後、 粉碎し、 さ らに必要により粒度調整して得られる架橋重合体の 表面近傍を架橋剤 (第二架橋剤) で表面架橋して架橋共重合体 (A ) とすることによ り本発明の吸収物品としての優れた性能を更に向上 させることができる。
乾燥する方法は、 8 0〜 2 3 0 °Cの温度の熱風で乾燥する方法、 1 0 0〜 2 3 0。Cに加熱された ドラム ドライヤー等の使用による薄 膜乾燥法、 (加熱) 減圧乾燥法、 凍結乾燥法、 赤外線による乾燥法等. 通常の方法でよい。
粉砕方法についても特に限定はなく、 ハンマー式粉砕機、 衝撃式 粉碎機、 ロール式粉砕機、 ジェッ ト気流式粉碎機など通常の装置が 使用できる。 得られた粉砕物は、 必要によ り篩別して粒度調整され る。 粉碎後の架橋重合体の形状については特に限定はなく、 不定形 破碎状、 リ ン片状、 パール状、 米粒状、 造粒状等が挙げられる。 紙 おむつ用途等での繊維状物とのからみが良く、 繊維状物からの脱落 の心配がないと言う点で、 不定形破砕状が好ま しい。
得られる架橋重合体の質量平均粒径は、 好ま しくは 1 0 0 ~ 8 0 0 zm、 さらに好まし く は 2 0 0 ~ 5 0 0 imであり、 1 0 0〜 8 5 0〃mの範囲の粒子が 9 5質量%以上となるように粉碎したもの を用いることができる。 微粒子の含有量は少ない方が好ましく、 好 ましくは 1 0 0 zm以下の粒子の含有量が 3 %以下、 さらに好まし くは 1 5 0〃m以下の粒子の含有量が 3 %以下である。 質量平均粒 径は、 吸水性樹脂の各粒度分布を、 横軸が粒子径、 縦軸が質量基準 の含有量の対数確率紙にプロッ ト し、 全体の質量の 5 0 %を占める ところの粒径を求める方法による。
この架橋重合体を表面架橋する方法と しては、 従来公知の方法、 例えば、 第二架橋剤 ( b 2 )、 水、 有機溶媒の混合溶液をこの架橋重 合体と混合し、 加熱反応させる方法が挙げられる。
第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) としては前記の第一架橋剤 ( b 1 ) と同一で あっても異なっていてもよいが、 好まし くは ( i i i ) のカルボキ シル基等の酸基及び/又はその塩基と反応しうる官能基を少なく と も 2個有する架橋剤であ り、 特に好ましくは比較的低い温度で表面 架橋を行わせることができるという点で、 ポリ グリシジルェ一テル 化合物、 ポリアミ ン系樹脂及びアジリジン化合物である。
第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) の使用量は、 ビニル系モノマー ( a) の質量 又はビニル系モノマ一 ( a ) 及びビニル系モノマー ( a 3 ) の合計 質量に基づいて、 0. 0 0 1〜 7. 0質量%が好ま し く、 さらに好 ましくは 0. 0 0 2 ~ 5. 0質量%であ り、 特に好ま しくは 0. 0 0 3〜 4. 0質量%である。 第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) の使用量が 0. 0 0 1質量%以上の場合は、 表面架橋度も充分であ り、 荷重下におけ る吸収量の向上効果も充分となる。 一方、 第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) の使 用量が 7. 0質量%以下の場合は、 表面の架橋度が過度とならず保 水量も低下しない。
表面架橋時の水の使用量は、 架橋重合体の質量に基づいて、 好ま しくは 1〜 1 0 %、 さらに好ましくは 2〜 7 %である。 水の使用量 が 1 %以上の場合、 第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) の架橋重合体の粒子内部へ の浸透が充分となり、 荷重下における吸収量、 特に高い荷重下 (例 えば、 6 0 g/ c m 2 ) における吸収量の向上効果が良好となる。 一方、 水の使用量が 1 0 %以下の場合は、 第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) の架 橋重合体の内部への浸透が過度とならず、 荷重下における吸収量の 向上は認められ、 保水量が大きく低下すると言う問題が生じない。 本発明において、 水と併用して使用される有機溶媒の種類として は従来公知の親水性溶媒が使用可能であ り、 第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) の 架橋重合体の内部への浸透度合い、 第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) の反応性等 を考慮し、 適宜選択することができる。 好ましくは、 メタノール、 ジェチレングリコール等の水に溶解しう る親水性有機溶媒である。 このような溶媒は単独で使用してもよいし、 又は 2種以上を併用し てもよい。
溶媒の使用量は、 溶媒の種類により種々変化させることができる が、 架橋重合体の質量に基づいて、 好ま しく は 1〜 1 0 %である。 また、 水に対する溶媒の比率についても任意に変化させるこ とがで き、 好ま しくは質量基準で 2 0〜 8 0 %、 さらに好ま しく は 3 0〜 7 0 %である。
第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) と水と溶媒との混合溶液を従来公知の方法で 架橋重合体に添加混合し、 加熱反応を行う。 反応温度は、 好ま しく は 8 0〜 2 0 0。C、 さらに好まし く は、 1 0 0〜 1 6 0 °Cである。 反応時間は、 反応温度によ り変化させることができるが、 好ましく は 3〜 6 0分、 さらに好ましくは 5〜 4 0分である。
この様に表面架橋して得られる粒子状の架橋重合体 (A) を更に 同種の第二架橋剤 (b 2 ) あるいは (A) で使用したのとは異種の 第二架橋剤 (b 2 ) で追加の表面架橋を施すことも可能である。
この様に表面架橋して得られる粒子状の架橋重合体 (A) は、 必 要によ り篩別して粒度調整される。 得られた (A) の質量平均粒径 は表面架橋前と殆ど変わらず、 好ましく は 1 0 0〜 8 0 0 im、 さ らに好ま しくは 2 0 0〜 5 0 0 zmであ り、 1 0 0〜 8 5 0 mの 範囲の粒子が 9 5質量%以上となるように粉砕したものを用いるこ とができる。 微粒子の含有量は少ない方が好ましく、 1 0 0 以 下の粒子の含有量が好まし くは 3 %以下、 さらに好ま しくは、 1 5 0 m以下の粒子の含有量が 3 %以下である。
このような表面架橋型の架橋共重合体は、 常圧下だけでなく荷重 下においても吸収性能に優れ、 かつゲル強度も大きく なり好ましい。 本発明の架橋重合体 (A) は、 ビニル系モノマー ( a)、 及び必要 によ り加えるビュル系モノマー ( a 3 )、 及び第一架橋剤 ( b 1 ) を、 ァゾ系開始剤、 過酸化物系開始剤、 レ ドックス系開始剤及び有機ハ ロゲン化合物開始剤からなる群よ り選ばれる少なく とも 1種の開始 剤 ( c )、 及び水の存在下に重合させて得られる架橋重合体 (A 2 ) をさらに第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) で表面架橋することが好ましい。
このようにして得られる本発明の架橋重合体は下記①〜③の要件 を満たすことができる。

要件①は架橋重合体の保水量に関し、 要件②は高荷重下における 吸収量に関し、 これらの要件を満たさないと保水量が小さい、 ある いは、 荷重下の吸収量が小さいため吸収性物品として性能が低くな り、 特に薄型の吸収性物品に適用した場合には漏れなどの問題が生 ずる。 要件③は架橋重合体の保水量と高荷重下における吸収量との バラ ンスを表し、 要件③を満たさないと吸収性能の優れた吸収性物 品とならない。
上記要件を満たした場合、 吸収性物品として優れた性能を発現す る。 また、 このようにして得られる本発明の架橋重合体は、 上記③ の要件に代えてより好ましい下記③' の要件を具備することができ

また、 生理食塩水を吸収した該架橋重合体 ( A) の 4 0倍膨潤ゲ ルのゲル弾性値は、 好ましくは 3 , O O O NZm2以上であり、 さら に好ましくは 4 , 00 0 N/m2以上であり、 特に好ましくは 5, 0 00〜 2 00 , O O O N/m2であり、 最も好ましくは、 6 , 0 0 0 〜 1 80, 00 0 N/m2である。
ゲル弾性値が 3 , 0 00 N m2以上であると、 吸水ゲルに剪断が 加わった際にゲルの変形や破壊がおこりにく く、 架橋重合体を適用 した吸収性物品の長期使用時における繰り返し吸収性能が低下せず、 ドライ感の低下やモレの発生がない。
本発明の架橋重合体 (A) は、 吸収性構造物や吸収性物品に適用 する場合、 作業性 · 風合い · 耐湿性等の観点から、 含水率が好まし くは 2〜 1 0質量%、 さらに好ましくは 3〜 8質量%、 発塵度が好 ましくは 0〜 5 0 c pm、 さらに好ましくは 0〜 3 0 c pm、 平均 粒子径が好ましくは 2 0 0〜5 0 0〃m、 4 0 °Cの相対湿度 8 0 % 下で 3時間静置後の吸湿プロッキング率が好ましくは 0〜 5 0 %、 さらに好ましくは 0〜 20 %である。
含水率は、 本発明の架橋重合体 ( A) を 1 2 5 °Cで 1時間乾燥処 理した後の重量減少率で測定できる。
発麈度は 1 リ ッ トルの吸引瓶と吸入口とデジタル発塵計 (柴田科 学社製) を用いて測定する。 吸引瓶の吸入口とデジタル発塵計 (柴 田科学社製) の吸入口を内径 7 mm、 長さ 1 0 cmガラス管で接続 し、 吸引瓶の上部の口からロートを用いて架橋重合体の粉末 2 0 g を吸引瓶に落下させる。 落下させた架橋重合体の粉末から 1分間に 発生した発塵の個数をデジタル発麈計を用いて測定し、 この値を発 麈度 (単位 c p m) とする。
本発明において、 必要により本発明の製法の任意の段階 (重合前、 重合中、 重合後) で、 界面活性剤、 防腐剤 (サリチル酸、 ソルビン 酸、 デヒ ドロ酢酸、 メチルナフ トキノ ン等の保存料、 クロラ ミ ン B、 ニ トロフラゾン等の殺菌料)、 防かび剤 ( p—ォキシ安息香酸ブチル 等)、 抗菌剤 (塩化ベンザルコニゥム塩、 グルコン酸クロルへキシジ ン等)、 酸化防止剤、 紫外線吸収剤、 着色剤 (酸化チタン、 フ ェライ ト等の無機顔料、 ァゾレーキ系、 ペンジイ ミダゾロン系、 フタロシ ァニン系等の有機顔料、 ニグ口シン系、 ァニリ ン系等の染料)、 芳香 剤 (じや香、 アビエス油、 テレ ビン油等の天然香料、 メ ン トール、 シ トラール、 p—メチルァセ トフエノ ン、 フロ一ラル等の合成香料)、 消臭剤 (ゼオライ ト、 シリ カ、 フラポノイ ド、 シクロデキス ト リ ン 等)、 無機質粉末、 有機質繊維状物等を添加することができる。 その 量は用途によって異なるが、 架橋重合体 (A) の質量に基づいて、 好ま し く は 0〜 2 0質量%であ り、 さ ら に好ま しく は 0〜 1 8質 量%である。
界面活性剤と してはァニオン活性剤、 非イオン活性剤、 カチオン 活性剤、 両性活性剤、 例えば U S P 43 3 1 447号明細書に記載 のものが挙げられ、 これらの 1種又は 2種以上を併用してもよい。
ァニオン性界面活性剤としては、 炭素数 8〜 24の炭化水素系ェ —テルカルボン酸またはその塩、 [ポリオキシエチレン (重合度 = 1 〜 1 0 0 ) ラウ リルエーテル酢酸ナ ト リ ウム、 ポリオキシエチレン

カチオン性界面活性剤としては、 第 4級アンモニゥム塩型 [塩化 ステアリル ト リ メチルアンモニゥム、 塩化べへニル ト リメチルアン モニゥム、 塩化ジステアリルジメチルアンモニゥム、 ェチル硫酸ラ ノ リ ン脂肪酸ァミ ノプロピルェチルジメチルアンモニゥム等]、 アミ ン塩型 [ステアリ ン酸ジェチルアミ ノエチルアミ ド乳酸塩、 ジラウ リルアミ ン塩酸塩、 ォレイルアミ ン乳酸塩等] 等が挙げられる。 両性界面活性剤としては、 ベ夕イ ン型両性界面活性剤 [ヤシ油脂 肪酸アミ ドプロ ピルジメチルァミ ノ酢酸べ夕イ ン、 ラウリルジメチ ルアミ ノ酢酸べタイ ン、 2 —アルキル一 N—カルボキシメチルー N ーヒ ドロキシェチルイ ミダゾリ二ゥムべ夕イ ン、 ラウ リルヒ ドロキ シスルホベタイ ン、 ラウロイルアミ ドエチルヒ ドロキシェチルカル ボキシメチルベタイ ンヒ ドロキシプロピルリ ン酸ナ ト リ ゥム等]、 ァ ミノ酸型両性界面活性剤 [ ? 一ラウ リルアミ ノブロピオン酸ナ ト リ ゥム等] 等が挙げられる。
酸化防止剤と しては、 ト リエチレングリコール一ビス一 [ 3— ( 3 — t —ブチル一 5 —メチル一 4—ヒ ドロキシフエニル) プロビオネ ―ト ]、 1 , 6 —へキサンジオール一ビス [ 3— ( 3, 5 —ジー t 一 ブチルー 4—ヒ ドロキシフエニル) プロピオネー ト ]、 ォクタデシル — 3— ( 3 , 5 —ジー t ーブチルー 4—ヒ ドロキシフエニルプロビ ォネー ト、 3 , 5 —ジー t —ブチル一 4ーヒ ドロキシベンジルフォ スフォネート一ジェチルエステル等のヒンダー ドフエノール系酸化 防止剤 ; n—ブチルァミ ン、 ト リェチルァミ ン、 ジェチルアミ ノメ チルメ夕ク リ レー ト等のアミ ン系酸化防止剤等、 及びこれらの 2種 以上の併用が挙げられる。
紫外線吸収剤としては、 2— ( 5 —メチルー 2 —ヒ ドロキシフエ ニル) ペンゾ ト リァゾ一ル、 2— ( 3 , 5 —ジ一 t —ブチル一 2— ヒ ドロキシフエニル) ベンゾ ト リアゾール、 2— ( 3 , 5 —ジ一 t ーブチルー 2 —ヒ ドロキシフエニル) 一 5 —クロ口べンゾ ト リアゾ ール、 2— ( 3, 5 —ジ一 t —ァミル一 2 —ヒ ドロキシフエニル) ベンゾ ト リアゾ一ル等のベンゾ ト リアゾ一ル系紫外線吸収剤 ; 2— ( 4 , 6 —ジフエニル一 1 , 3 , 5 — ト リアジン一 2 —ィル) _ 5 一 [ (へキシル) ォキシ] 一フエノール等の ト リアジン系紫外線吸収 剤 ; 2 —ヒ ドロキシー 4— n—ォクチルォキシベンゾフエノ ン等の ベンゾフエノ ン系紫外線吸収剤 ; 2 —エ トキシ— 2 , ーェチルォキ サリ ック酸ビスァニリ ド等の蓚酸ァニリ ド系紫外線吸収剤等、 及び これらの 2種以上の併用がが挙げられる。
無機質粉末と しては、 炭酸カルシウム、 カオリ ン、 タルク、 マイ 力、 ベン トナイ ト、 クレー、 セリサイ ト、 アスベス ト、 ガラス繊維、 炭素繊維、 ガラス粉、 ガラスバルーン、 シラスバルーン、 石炭粉、 金属粉末、 セラ ミ ック粉末、 シリカ、 ゼォライ ト、 スレー ト粉等が 挙げられる。 形態は任意でよく、 平均粒子径は好ま し くは 0 . 1 ミ クロンから 1 m mである。
顔料としては、 例えばカーボンブラ ック、 酸化チタン、 赤色酸化 鉄、 鉛丹、 パラレツ ド、 紺青等が挙げられる。
有機質繊維状物としては、 天然繊維 〔セルロース系のもの (木綿、 ォガクズ、 ワラ等) 及びその他、 草炭、 羊毛、 ミクロフイ ブリル、 バクテリアセルロース等〕、 人造繊維 (レ一ヨン、 アセテー ト等のセ ルロース系等)、 合成繊維 (ポリアミ ド、 ポリエステル、 ァク リル等)、 パルプ 〔メカニカルパルプ (丸太からの砕木パルプ、 ァスプルン ド 法砕木パルプ等)、 ケミカルパルプ (亜硫酸パルプ、 ソ一ダパルプ、 硫酸塩パルプ、 硝酸パルプ、 塩素パルプ等)、 セ ミケミカルパルプ、 再生パルプ (たとえばパルプを一旦製紙して作った紙の機械的破砕 又は粉碎物、 又は故紙の機械的破碎または粉砕物である再生故紙パ ルプ等)〕 等が挙げられる。 (吸収性構造物、 吸収性物品)
本発明の架橋重合体は保水量と荷重下の吸収量のバランスが格段 に優れ、 各種の吸収性構造物 ( C) や吸収性物品 (D) に適用する ことにより、 吸収性能に優れた物品が得られる。
吸収性構造物 (C) に架橋重合体 (A) を適用する方法としては、 例えば架橋重合体 (A) と繊維状物 (B) とのマ ト リ ックスから構 成されたものであり、 例えば、
( 1 ) 層状に配置されたパルプ、 熱融着性繊維等からなる繊維状 物の層の間に架橋重合体を散粒する ;
( 2 ) パルプ、 熱融着性繊維等からなる繊維状物と架橋重合体を 混合する ;
( 3 ) 二枚以上の吸水紙ゃ不織布で、 必要によ り繊維状物と共に 架橋重合体をサン ドィ ツチする等の方法で作られる吸収性構造物が 挙げられる。
繊維状物 (B) としては、 例えば各種フラ ッ フパルプや綿状パル プ等、 従来から吸収性物品に使用されている繊維状物が挙げられ、 原料 (針葉樹、 広葉樹等)、 製造方法 〔ケミカルパルプ、 セミケミカ ルパルプ、 ケミサ一モメカニカルパルプ (C TMP) 等〕、 漂白方法 等については特に限定されない。
また、 繊維状物と しては前記の有機質繊維状物の他に、 必要によ り水に膨潤しない合成繊維も単独あるいは上記のフラ ッ フパルプや 綿状パルプ等と併用して使用できる。 合成繊維の例としては、 ポリ ォレフィ ン系繊維 (例えば、 ポリエチレン系繊維、 ポリプロピレン 系繊維)、 ポリエステル系繊維 (例えば、 ポリエチレンテレフタレ一 ト繊維)、 ポリオレフイ ン ' ポリエステル複合繊維、 ポリアミ ド系繊 維、 ポリアク リ ロニ ト リル系繊維等が挙げられる。 繊維状物 (B) の長さ、 太さについては特に限定されず通常、 長 さは l〜 2 0 0 mm、 太さは 0. 1〜: 1 0 0デニールの範囲が好適 である。
形状についても繊維状であれば特に限定されず、 ウェブ状、 細い 円筒状、 裁断されたスプリ ッ トヤーン状、 ステーブル状、 フィ ラメ ン ト状等が例示される。
吸収性構造物 ( C) に対する本発明の架橋重合体 (A) の添加量 は吸収性構造物の種類やサイズ、 目標とする吸収性能に応じて種々 変化させることができるが、 好ましくは架橋重合体 (A) の量が吸 収性構造物 ( C) の質量に対して好ましくは 3 0〜 9 5重量%であ り、 さらに好ましくは 40〜 9 5重量%である。
本発明の吸収性物品として好ましくは吸収性構造物 (C)、 液体透 過性シート、 通気性バックシートを備える吸収性物品 (D) であり、 さらに好ましくは衛生用品としての吸収性物品 (D) であり、 特に 好ましくは、 後記する S D MEの方法で測定した表面ドライネス値 が 5 0 %以上、 さらに好ましくは 5 5 %以上の紙おむつである。 実施例
以下、 実施例及び比較例により本発明をさらに説明するが、 本発 明はこれらに限定されるものではない。 本発明において、 保水量、 加圧下における吸収量、 ゲル弾性率及び吸湿プロッキング率は下記 の方法により測定した。 以下、 特に定めない限り、 %は質量%を示 す。
<保水量 >
2 5 0メ ッシュのナイロン網で作成したティ一バッグ (縦 2 0 c m、 横 1 0 c m) に架橋重合体の粉末 1. 00 gを入れ、 生理食塩 水 (食塩濃度 0. 9 %) 1 , O O G c c中に無撹拌下、 1時間間浸 漬した後、 1 5分間吊るして水切り した後、 ティ一バッグごと、 遠 心分離器にいれ、 1 5 0 Gで 9 0秒間遠心脱水し余剰水を取り除く。 遠心脱水後の増加質量を測定し保水量と した。 尚、 使用した生理食 塩水温度、 及び測定温度は 2 5 °Cであった。
<荷重下における吸収量 >
2 5 0メ ッシュのナイ ロン網を底面に貼った円筒型ブラスチック チューブ (内径 3 0 mm、 高さ 6 0 mm) 内に架橋重合体の粉末 0. 1 0 gを入れて均一に均し、 この樹脂の上に G O g/c m2の荷重と なるように外径 3 0 mmの分銅を乗せる。
生理食塩水 6 0 m lの入つたシャーレ (直径 : 1 2 c m) の中に 架橋重合体の粉末の入ったプラスチックチューブをナイ 口ン網側を 下面にして浸し、 放置する。 架橋重合体が生理食塩水を吸収して増 加した重量を 1時間後に測定し、 その値の 1 0倍値を 6 0 g/c m2 条件での荷重下吸収量とした。 尚、 使用した生理食塩水温度、 及び 測定温度は 2 5 °Cであつた。
ぐゲル弾性値 >
架橋重合体の粉末 1 . 0 0 gに生理食塩水 4 0 m lを吸収させて 4 0倍膨潤ゲルを作成する。 1 0 0 m l ビーカ一に生理食塩水 4 0 m lを入れる。 3 c mのス夕一ラーピースを入れ、 マグネティ ヅク スターラ一の上に置きス夕一ラ一ピースがビ一力一の中心で回転す るようにする。 6 0 0 ± 1 0 r p mにて回転させ、 液が安定した渦 を生成していることご確認後、 架橋重合体の粉末 1. 0 0 gを一度 に投入し、 途中スターラ一ビースの回転が止まるがそのままの状態 で 3時間放置し、 膨潤ゲルを作成した。
膨潤ゲル 0. 2 0 0 gをレオ口ジー測定器 (山電社製 ; ク リープ メータ一 RE— 3 3 0 0 5 ) の支持テーブル中央に置き、 平面にな らす。 次いで、 膨潤ゲルの上面から 3 0 gの応力 (P = 3 0 x 9 8 /S ) をかけ、 シリ ンダーで圧縮した時の変形率 (Η=圧縮時高さ /初期高さ) を求める。 また、 この時のゲルの断面積 [S =サンブ ル体積/ (初期高さ一圧縮時高さ)] を測定し、 次式によ りゲル弾性 値を求めた。
ゲル弾性値 (N/m2) = P/H
尚、 使用した生理食塩水温度、 膨潤ゲル作成時の温度及び測定温度 は 2 5°Cであった。
<吸湿ブロッキング率 >
架橋重合体の粉末 1 0 gを直径 5 cmのアルミ製の皿に均一に入 れ、 40°C、 相対湿度 8 0 %の恒温恒湿槽中で 3時間静置する。 3 時間静置後の架橋重合体の重量を測定し、 その後 1 2メ ッシュの金 網で軽く篩い、 吸湿によ り ブロッキングして 1 2メ ッシュをパスし ない架橋重合体の粉末状物の重量を測定し、 下式によ り吸湿ブロ ッ キング率を求めた。

容量 1 リ ッ トルのガラス製反応容器にァク リル酸ナ ト リ ウム 7 7 g アク リル酸 2 2. 8 5 g、 N, N ' ーメチレンビスアク リルァ ミ ド 0. 1 5 gおよび脱イオン水 2 9 3 g、 ジクロロ ト リス ( ト リ フエニルホスフィ ン) ルテニウム 0. 0 0 l gを仕込み、 攪拌、 混 合しながら内容物の温度を 3 °Cに保った。
内容物に窒素を流入して溶存酸素量を 1 p p m以下とした後、 過 酸化水素の 1 %水溶液 0. 3 g、 ァスコルビン酸の 0. 2 %水溶液 0. 8 gおよび 2 , 2, ーァゾビス ( 2—アミジノプロパン) ジハ イ ド口クロライ ドの 2 %水溶液 0. 8 gを添加 ' 混合して重合を開 始させ、 1. 5時間後に 6 9 °Cになり、 その温度に保持し、 開始後 合計約 5時間重合することにより含水ゲル状重合体配合物 ( A— 1 ) を得た。
得られた (A— 1 ) の含水ゲルをイ ンタ一ナルミキサーで細断し た後、 1 3 5°C、 風速 2. 0 m/秒の条件の通気型バン ド乾燥機で 乾燥した。
得られた乾燥物を粉碎し、 3 0〜 6 0メ ッシュの粒度に調整した 後、 このものの 1 00 gを高速攪拌しながらエチレングリコ一ルジ グリシジルエーテルの 1 0 %水 メ夕ノール混合溶液 (水/メ夕ノ —ル = 7 0/3 0 ) を 2 g加えて混合し、 1 40°Cで 30分間加熱 架橋することで架橋重合体 ( 1 ) を得た。
この架橋重合体 ( 1 ) の粒度分布及び評価結果を表 1に示す。 尚、 架橋重合体 ( 1 ) の含水率は 4%、 発麈度は 1 0 c pmであった。 実施例 2
容量 1 リ ッ トルのガラス製反応容器にァク リル酸 8 1. 7 g、 N, N ' —メチレンビスアク リルアミ ド 0. 1 5 gおよび脱イオン水 2 4 1 g、 ジクロロ ト リス ( ト リ フエニルホスフィ ン) ルテニウム 0. 00 1 gを仕込み、 攪拌、 混合しながら内容物の温度を 3 °Cに保つ た。
内容物に窒素を流入して溶存酸素量を 1 p pm以下とした後、 過 酸化水素の 1 %水溶液 0. 3 g、 ァスコルビン酸の 0. 2 %水溶液 0. 8 gおよび 2 , 2, 一ァゾビス ( 2—アミ ジノプロパン) ジハ イ ド口クロライ ドの 2 %水溶液.0 . 8 gを添加 ' 混合して重合を開 始させ、 1 . 5時間後に 7 4 °Cになり、 その温度に保持し、 開始後 合計約 5時間重合することによ り含水ゲル状重合体を得た。
この含水ゲル状重合体をィ ンターナルミキサーで細断しながら、 3 0 %水酸化ナ ト リ ウム水溶液 1 0 9 . 1 gを添加して混練するこ とによ りカルボン酸の 7 2モル%が中和された含水ゲル ( A— 2 ) を得た。
さらに含水ゲル ( A— 2 ) を 1 4 0 ° ( 、 風速 2 . 0 mZ秒の条件 の通気型バン ド乾燥機で乾燥した。
得られた乾燥物を粉砕し、 3 0〜 6 0メ ッシュの粒度に調整した 後、 このものの 1 0 0 gを高速攪拌しながらエチレングリコ一ルジ グリ シジルエーテルの 1 0 %水/メ夕ノール混合溶液 (水/メ夕ノ —ル = 7 0 / 3 0 ) を 2 g加えて混合し、 1 4 0 °Cで 3 0分間加熱 架橋することで表面架橋型の架橋重合体 ( 2 ) を得た。
この架橋重合体 ( 2 ) の粒度分布及び評価結果を表 1 に示す。 尚、 架橋重合体 ( 2 ) の含水率は 5 %、 発麈度は 1 1 c p mであった。 実施例 3
容量 1 リ ッ トルのガラス製反応容器にァク リル酸ナ ト リ ウム 7 7 g、 アク リル酸 2 2 . 6 g、 ペン夕エリス リ ト一ル ト リアリルェ一 テル 0 . 4 gおよび脱イオン水 2 9 3 g、 ジクロロ ト リス ( ト リ フ ェニルホスフィ ン) ルテニウム 0 . 0 0 1 gを仕込み、 攪拌、 混合 しながら内容物の温度を 3 °Cに保った。

得られた (A— 3 ) の含水ゲルをイ ン夕一ナルミキサーで細断し た後、 1 3 5 °C、 風速 2. 0 m/秒の条件の通気型バン ド乾燥機で 乾燥した。
得られた乾燥物を粉砕し、 3 0〜 6 0メ ッシュの粒度に調整した 後、 このもの 1 0 0 gを高速攪拌しながらエチレングリコ一ルジグ リシジルェ一テルの 1 0 %水/メ夕ノール混合溶液 (水/メタノ一 ル = 7 0 /3 0 ) を 2 g加えて混合し、 1 4 0 °Cで 3 0分間加熱架 橋することで架橋重合体 ( 3 ) を得た。
この架橋重合体 ( 3 ) の粒度分布及び評価結果を表 1に示す。 尚、 架橋重合体 ( 3 ) の含水率は 4 %、 発麈度は 1 5 c p mであった。 実施例 4
容量 1 リ ッ トルのガラス製反応容器にァク リル酸 8 1. 7 g、 ぺ ン夕エリスリ トールト リアリルエーテル 0. 4 gおよび脱イオン水 2 4 1 g ジクロロ ト リス ( ト リ フエニルフォスフィ ン) ルテニゥ ム 0. 0 0 1 gを仕込み、 攪拌、 混合しながら内容物の温度を 3 °C に保った。
内容物に窒素を流入して溶存酸素量を 1 p p m以下とした後、 過 酸化水素の 1 %水溶液 0. 3 g、 ァスコルビン酸の 0. 2 %水溶液 0. 8 gおよび 2 , 2, ーァゾビス ( 2 —アミジノプロパン) ジハ イ ド口クロライ ドの 2 %水溶液 0. 8 gを添加 · 混合して重合を開 始させ、 1. 5時間後に 7 4 °Cになり、 その温度に保持し、 開始後 合計約 5時間重合することによ り含水ゲル状重合体を得た。
この含水ゲル状重合体をィ ン夕一ナルミキサーで細断しながら、
3 0 %水酸化ナ ト リウム水溶液 1 0 9. 1 gを添加して混練するこ とによ り カルボン酸の 7 2モル%が中和された含水ゲル (A— 4 ) を得た。
さらに含水ゲル ( A— 4 ) を 1 4 0 °C、 風速 2. 0 m /秒の条件 の通気型バン ド乾燥機で乾燥した。
得られた乾燥物を粉碎し、 3 0〜 6 0メ ッシュの粒度に調整した 後、 このもの 1 0 0 gを高速攪拌しながらエチレングリコールジグ リシジルェ一テルの 1 0 %水/メ夕ノール混合溶液 (水/メタノ一 ル = 7 0 /3 0 ) を 2 g加えて混合し、 1 4 0。Cで 3 0分間加熱架 橋することで表面架橋型の架橋重合体 ( 4 ) を得た。
この架橋重合体 ( 4 ) の粒度分布及び評価結果を表 1に示す。 尚、 架橋重合体 ( 4 ) の含水率は 6 %、 発塵度は 2 0 c p mであった。 実施例 5
実施例 1 において、 N , N 5 ーメチレンビスアク リルアミ ド 0. 1 5 gに替えて、 エチレングリ コールジグリ シジルェ一テル 0. 1 7 gを用いた他は、 実施例 1 と同様にして表面架橋型の架橋重合体 ( 5 ) を得た。
この架橋重合体 ( 5 ) の粒度分布及び評価結果を表 1に示す。 尚、 架橋重合体 ( 5 ) の含水率は 8 %、 発麈度は 9 c p mであった。 実施例 6
実施例 2において、 過酸化水素の 1 %水溶液 0. 3 gのに替えて、 過硫酸カ リ ウムの 1 %水溶液 0. 3 gを用いた他は、 実施例 2 と同 様にして表面架橋型の架橋重合体 ( 6 ) を得た。
この架橋重合体 ( 6 ) の粒度分布及び評価結果を表 2に示す。 尚、 架橋重合体 ( 6 ) の含水率は 6 %、 発麈度は 1 8 c p mであった。 実施例 7
実施例 4において、 ペン夕エリスリ トールト リアリルエーテリレ 0. 4 gの代わりにペン夕エリス リ トールト リアリルェ一テリレ 0. 5 g、 脱イオン水 24 1 gの代わりに脱イオン水 3 7 5 g、 2, 2, ーァ ゾビス ( 2—アミ ジノ プロパン) ジハイ ドロクロライ ドの 2 %水溶 液 0. 8 gの代わりに 2 , 25 ーァゾビス ( 2—アミジノプロパン) ジハイ ド口クロライ ドの 2 %水溶液 1. 0 gを使用し、 ジクロロ ト リス ( ト リ フエニルホスフ ィ ン) ルテニウムを使用しない他は、 実 施例 4と同様にして表面架橋型の架橋重合体 ( 7 ) を得た。
この架橋重合体 ( 7 ) の粒度分布及び評価結果を表 2に示す。 尚、 架橋重合体 ( 7 ) の含水率は 8 %、 発麈度は 1 8 c pmであった。 実施例 8
攪拌機、 環流冷却器、 温度計及び窒素ガス導入管を付設した容量 5 0 0 m lの四つ口丸底フラスコに、 シクロへキサン 1 2 1. 2 g を入れ、 ソルビタンモノステアレー ト 0. 9 gを添加して溶解させ た後、 窒素ガスを吹き込んで、 溶存酸素を追い出した。 別に、 容量 3 0 0 m lのコニカルビ一力一中でァク リル酸 4 5 gと水 6. 4 g との混合液に、 氷冷下、 水酸化ナ ト リ ウムの 2 5 %水溶液 7 0. 0 gを加えてカルボキシル基の 7 0 %を中和した。 次いで架橋剤とし て、 N, N ' —メチレンビスアク リルアミ ド 0. 0 3 3 g、 水溶性 連鎖移動剤として次亜リ ン酸ナ ト リ ウム 0. 0 5 4 6 g、 及び重合 開始剤と して 2 , 2, ーァゾビス ( 2—アミジノプロパン) ジハイ ドロクロライ ド 0. 0 3 1 3 gを加えて溶解させた。 前記の四つ口 丸底フラスコの内容物に、 この容量 3 0 0 m lのコニカルビー力一 の内容物を添加し、 攪拌して分散させ、 窒素ガスをパブリ ングしな がら油浴にてフラスコ内温度を上昇させ、 その内温を 6 0°Cに保ち、 攪拌しながら 2時間重合させた。 2時間後の内容物は水で膨潤した 架橋重合体がシクロへキサン中に分散してスラ リー状となっていた ( 次いで、 油浴の温度を上げ、 フラスコ内のシクロへキサンとの共沸 により、 膨潤した架橋重合体の水分が 2 0 %になるまで脱水を行つ た。 脱水後攪拌を停止し、 湿潤ポリマー粒子が丸底フラスコの底に 沈降したので、 デカンテーシヨ ンにより シクロへキサン相と容易に 分離できた。 分離した湿潤ポリマーを減圧乾燥機に移し、 8 0〜 9 0 °Cに加熱して付着したシク口へキサン及び水を除去したところ、 さらさら とした架橋重合体の粒子状物が得られた。 このもの 3 0 g を高速攪拌しながらエチレングリコールジグリ シジルエーテルの 1 0 %水/メタノ一ル混合溶液 (水/メ夕ノール = 70/30 ) を 0. 6 g加えて混合し、 1 40 °Cで 3 0分間加熱架橋することで表面架 橋型の架橋重合体 ( 8 ) を得た。
この架橋重合体 ( 8 ) の粒度分布及び評価結果を表 2に示す。 尚、 ( 8 ) の含水率は 5 %、 発麈度は 1 8 c p mであった。 比較例 1
容量.1 リ ッ トルのガラス製反応容器にアク リル酸ナ ト リ ウム 7 7 g アク リル酸 2 2. 7 g、 N, N ' ーメチレンビスアク リルアミ ド 0. 3 gおよび脱ィオン水 2 9 5 gを仕込み、 攪拌、 混合しなが ら内容物の温度を 3°Cに保った。 内容物に窒素を流入して溶存酸素量を 0. 3 p p m以下とした後、 過酸化水素の 1 %水溶液 1 g、 ァスコルビン酸の 0. 2 %水溶液 1. 2 gおよび 2 , 2 ' ーァゾビス ( 2—アミジノプロパン) ジハイ ド 口クロライ ドの 2 %水溶液 2. 8 gを添加 · 混合して重合を開始さ せ、 1. 5時間後に 7 0 °Cになり、 その温度に保持し、 開始後合計 約 5時間重合することによ り含水ゲル状重合体配合物 ( A— 1 ) を 得た。
得られた (A— 1 ) の含水ゲルをイ ンターナルミキサーで細断し た後、 1 3 5 °C、 風速 2. 0 m/ /秒の条件の通気型バン ド乾燥機で 乾燥した。
得られた乾燥物を粉碎し、 3 0〜 6 0メ ッシュの粒度に調整した 後、 このものの 1 00 gを高速攪拌しながらェチレングリコールジ グリ シジルエーテルの 1 0 %水ノメ夕ノ一ル混合溶液 (水/メ夕ノ —ル = 7 0 / 3 0 ) を 1 g加えて混合し、 1 40 °Cで 3 0分間加熱 架橋することで比較架橋重合体 ( 1 ') を得た。
この比較架橋重合体 ( 1 ') の粒度分布及び評価結果を表 2に示す < 比較例 2
容量 1 リ ッ トルのガラス製反応容器にァク リル酸 8 1. 7 g、 N , N 5 ーメチレンビスアク リルアミ ド 0. 2 gおよび脱イオン水 2 4 1 gを仕込み、 攪拌、 混合しながら内容物の温度を 3°Cに保った。 内容物に窒素を流入して溶存酸素量を 0. 3 p pm以下とした後、 過酸化水素の 1 %水溶液 1 g、 ァスコルビン酸の 0. 2 %水溶液 1. 2 gおよび 2 , 25 ーァゾビス ( 2—アミジノプロパン) ジハイ ド 口クロライ ドの 2 %水溶液 0. 8 gを添加 ■ 混合して重合を開始さ せ、 1. 5時間後に 7 5 °Cになり、 その温度に保持し、 開始後合計 約 5時間重合することにより含水ゲル状重合体を得た。
この含水ゲル状重合体をィ ン夕一ナルミキサーで細断しながら、 30 %水酸化ナ ト リゥム水溶液 1 0 9 gを添加して混練することに よりカルボン酸の 7 1モル%が中和された含水ゲル (A— 2 ) を得 た。
さらに含水ゲル ( A— 2 ) を 1 40。C、 風速 2. 0 mZ秒の条件 の通気型バン ド乾燥機で乾燥した。
得られた乾燥物を粉砕し、 3 0〜6 0メ ッシュの粒度に調整した 後、 このものの 1 0 0 gを高速攪拌しながらェチレングリコールジ グリシジルエーテルの 1 0 %水/メ夕ノール混合溶液 (水/メ夕ノ ール = 7 0 / 3 0 ) を 1 g加えて混合し、 1 40 °Cで 30分間加熱 架橋することで表面架橋型の比較架橋重合体 ( 2 ') を得た。
この比較架橋重合体 ( 2 ') の粒度分布及び評価結果を表 2に示す,
<紙おむつの評価 >
本発明の架橋重合体 ( 1 ) 〜 ( 6 )、 及び比較架橋重合体 ( 1 ';)、 ( 2 ' ) を用いて吸収性構造物を作成し、 後述の方法で作成した紙お むつの荷重下吸収量、 荷重下吸収速度、 荷重下拡散面積、 表面ドラ ィ感、 S D M Eの表面ドライネス値について下記の方法で測定した。 以下特に定めない限り%は質量%を示す。
<荷重下吸収量 >
円筒 (内径 3 c m、 長さ 2 0 c m) を中心に備えた、 上記紙おむ つ ( 140mmx 3 6 0mm)の面積と同じ大きさのァクリル板(重 量 0. 5 K g ) を紙おむつの上に乗せ、 アク リル板の上に 2 0 K g の荷重を均一に乗せる (合計荷重 20. 5 K g)。 円筒に 8 0 mlの 人工尿を注ぐ。 5分後にさらに 8 0 mlの 2回目の人工尿を注入す る。 同様にして 5分後に 8 0 m 1の 3回目の人工尿を注入し、 その 後 5分放置する。 荷重、 アクリル板を取り除き、 紙おむつに吸収さ れなかった人工尿を取り去った後、 ゥエツ トサンプルの重量 (Wg) を測定する。 Wを荷重下吸収量とする。
<荷重下吸収速度 >
円筒 (内径 3 cm、 長さ 2 0 c m) を中心に備えた、 上記紙おむ つ ( 1 40 mm x 3 6 0 mm)の面積と同じ大きさのァク リル板(重 量 0. 5 K g) をモデル紙おむつの上に乗せ、 アク リル板の上に 2 0 K gの荷重を均一に乗せる (合計荷重 2 0. 5 K g)。 円筒に 8 0 m 1の人工尿 (青インキで着色) を注ぐ。 1 0分後にさらに 8 0 m 1の 2回目の人工尿を注入する。 同様にして 1 0分後に 8 0 m lの 3回目の人工尿を注入し、 この 3回目の吸収時間を測定し、 荷重下 吸収速度とした。
ぐ荷重下拡散面積 >
3回目の吸収速度を測定した後、 人工尿が吸収されて平面方向に 広がった面積を測定し、 荷重下拡散面積とした。
<表面ドライ感>
拡散面積を測定した後、 モデル紙おむつ表面の ドライ感を 1 0人 のパネラーで指触判定し、 次の.3段階で評価した。 1 0人の平均を 求め、 表面ドライネスとした。
〇 : ドライ感良好
△ : わずかに湿っぽいが、 満足できるレベルのドライ感
X : ドライ感に乏しく、 湿っぽい状態、 又は ドライ感無く、 濡れた 状態
< S D M E測定法による ドライネス値 >
S D M E測定法に よ る ド ラ イ ネス値は、 S D M E ( S u r f a c e D r y n e s s M e a s u r e m e n t E q u p m e n t ) 試験器 ( W K s y s t e m社製) を 用いて次の手順で測定 し た。
S D M E 試験器の検出器を 十分に湿 ら し た紙おむつの 上に置 き、 0 % ド ラ イ ネス値を設定 し、 次に、 S D M E試 験器の検出器を乾い た紙おむつの上 に置 き 1 0 0 % ド ラ イ ネス を設定 し、 S D M E試験器の校正を行 っ た。
次に、 測定する 紙おむつの 中央に金属 リ ン グ (直径 7 0 m m ) をセ ッ ト し、 人工尿 8 0 m l を注入 し た。 注入後直 ち に金属 リ ン グを取 り 去 り 、紙おむつの中央に S D M E検 出器をセ ッ ト し測定を開始 し た。 測定開始後、 5 分後の値 を S D M E の ド ラ イ ネ ス値 と した。 実施例 9〜: L 6
フラッフパルプ 1 0 0部と、 実施例 1〜 8で得られた本発明の架 橋重合体 ( 1 ) ~ ( 6 ) 1 0 0部とを気流型混合装置で混合した混 合物を坪量約 4 0 0 gZc m2となるように均一に積層し、 5 K g/ c m2の圧力で 3 0秒間プレス し、 実施例 9〜 1 6の吸収性構造物 (B 1 ) 〜 ( B 8 ) を得た。 実施例 1 7
フラッフパルプ 5 0部の層を形成した後、 実施例 2で得られた架 橋重合体 ( 2 ) 1 0 0部均一に散布し、 更にその上にフラ ッ フパル プ 5 0部の層を積層してサン ドイ ツチ構造とし、 5 K g7cm2の圧 力で 30秒間プレスして、 吸収性構造物 (C 2 ) を得た。 比較例 3 , 4
フラッフパルプ 1 0 0部と比較例 1、 2で得られた比較架橋重合 体 ( 1 ')、 ( 2 ') とを気流型混合装置で混合した混合物を坪量約 4 00 gZ c m2となるように均一に積層し、 5 K g/ c m2の圧力で 30秒間プレスし、 比較例 3、 4の比較吸収性構造物 (B 1,)、 (B 2,) を得た。
<試験例 >
実施例 9〜 1 6及び 1 7と比較例 3, 4で得られた吸収性構造物 を 1 4 c m X 3 6 c mの長方形に裁断し、 各々の上下に吸収性構造 物と同じ大きさの吸水紙 (坪量 1 5. 5 g/m2) を配置し、 更に巿 販の紙おむつに使用されているポリエチレンシートを裏面に、 不織 布 (坪量 2 0. 0 g/m2) を表面に配置することにより紙おむつを 作成した。 これらの紙おむつの荷重下吸収量、 荷重下吸収速度、 荷 重下拡散面積、 表面ドライ感、 S D M Eの表面ドライネス値を評価 した結果を、 表 3に示す。 産業上の利用可能性
本発明の架橋重合体は下記の効果を奏する。
①保水性能と荷重下での吸収性能のバランスが格段に優れ、 吸水 後もさらつとした感触を示す。
②紙おむつ、 生理用ナプキン等の衛生用品に本発明の架橋重合体 を適用した場合、 優れた吸収性能のみならず、 被吸収液が圧力下で も逆戻り しにくい優れた特徴を示す。
衛生用品としては、 例えば、 紙おむつ (子供用紙おむつ、 大人用 紙おむつ等)、 ナプキン (生理用ナプキン等)、 紙夕オル、 パッ ド (失 禁者用パッ ド、 手術用アンダーパッ ド等)、 ペッ トシート (ペッ ト尿 吸収シート) 等が挙げられる。
尚、 本発明の (A ) は前記載の衛生用品用途のみならず、 携帯ト ィ レの尿ゲル化剤、 青果物等の鮮度保持剤、 肉類、 魚介類の ド リ ツ プ吸収剤、 保冷剤、 使い捨てカイ ロ、 電池用ゲル化剤、 植物や土壌 等の保水剤、 結露防止剤、 止水材ゃパッキング材、 人工雪等、 種々 の用途にも有用である。

Claims

に , 55 請求の範囲
1. 水溶性のビニル系モノマー及び/又は加水分解により水溶性 となる群から選ばれる 1種または 2種以上のビニル系モノマー ( a ) 及び架橋剤 ( b) を必須構成単位とし、 下記①〜③の要件を具備す る架橋重合体 (A)。
① (X) ≥ 2 5 gZg
② (Y) ≥ 1 5 g/g
③ (Y) ≥_ 0. 5 4 (X) + 4 1
[式中、 (X) は生理食塩水に対する 1時間吸収後の保水量、 (Υ) は 6 0 g c m2の荷重下における生理食塩水に対する 1時間後の 吸収量である]
2. 前記架橋重合体 (A) が、 上記③の要件に代えて下記③' の 要件を具備する請求項 1記載の架橋重合体。
③' (Y) ≥— 0. 5 4 (X) + 4 2
3. 生理食塩水を吸収した前記架橋重合体 (A) の 4 0倍膨潤ゲ ルのゲル弾性が 3, 0 0 0 NZm2以上である請求項 1記載の架橋重 合体。
4. 前記ビニル系モノマー ( a ) 力 カルボン酸 (塩) 基、 スル ホン酸 (塩) 基、 硫酸 (塩) 基、 燐酸 (塩) 基、 水酸基、 アミ ド基、 アミ ノ基、 第 4級アンモニゥム塩基からなる群より選ばれる少なく とも 1種の官能基を有する水溶性のピニル系モノマー ( a l )、 及び Z又は酸無水物基、 低級アルキルエステル基、 二 ト リル基からなる 訂正された用紙 (規則 9 群より選ばれる少なく とも 1種の官能基を有する加水分解により水 溶性となるビニル系モノマ一 ( a 2 ) である請求項 1記載の架橋重 合体。
5. 前記架橋重合体 (A) が、 前記ビニル系モノマ一 ( a )、 必要 により加えるその他のビニル系モノマ一 ( a 3 ) 及び第 1架橋剤 ( b 1 ) を、 ァゾ系開始剤、 過酸化物系開始剤、 レ ドックス系開始剤及 び有機ハロゲン化合物開始剤からなる群より選ばれる 1種または 2 種以上の開始剤 ( c ) 及び水の存在下に重合させて得られる架橋重 合体 (A 2 ) を、 さらに第 2架橋剤 ( b 2 ) で表面架橋させて得ら れることを特徴とする請求項 1記載の架橋重合体。
6. 前記第 1架橋剤 ( b 1 ) の量が、 前記ビニル系モノマー ( a ) の質量又は前記ビニル系モノマー ( a ) 及び前記ビニル系モノマー ( a 3 ) の合計質量に基づいて 0. 0 0 1〜 5. 0質量%である請 求項 5記載の架橋重合体。
7. 前記第 2架橋剤 (b 2 ) の量が、 前記ビニル系モノマー ( a ) の質量又は前記ビニル系モノマー ( a ) 及び前記ビニル系モノマー
( a 3 ) の合計質量に基づいて 0. 0 0 1〜 7. 0質量%である請 求項 5記載の架橋重合体。
8. 前記架橋重合体 (A) が、 重合液中の前記ビニル系モノマー ( a ) 及び前記架橋剤 ( b) の合計質量の濃度が 2 0質量%以下で 重合させて得られる請求項 1記載の架橋重合体。

9. 前記架橋重合体 (A) が、 6 0 °C以下の重合温度で且つ ± 5 °C の温度管理幅で重合させて得られる請求項 1記載の架橋重合体。
1 0. 前記架橋重合体 (A) が、 金属元素 ( d 1 ) と陰イオンも しくは中性分子の配位子 ( d 2 ) との錯化合物 ( d ) の存在下、 重 合させて得られる請求項 1又は請求項 5記載の架橋重合体。
1 1. 前記金属元素 ( d 1 ) が長周期の元素周期表において I B 族及び 4〜 6周期の V I I I族から選ばれる金属元素である請求項 1 0記載の架橋重合体。
1 2. 前記ビニル系モノマー ( a ) 及び前記架橋剤 ( b) の合計 質量又は前記ビニル系モノマー ( a)、 前記ビニル系モノマー ( a 3 ) 及び前記架橋剤 ( b ) の合計質量に基づいて、 前記錯化合物 ( d ) の量が 0. 0 0 5 111〜 2質量%でぁり、 且つ前記金属元素 ( d 1 ) が 0. 0 0 1 p p m〜 l質量%である請求項 1 0記載の架橋重 合体。
1 3. 前記陰イオンもしくは中性分子の配位子 ( d 2 ) が、 下記 ( 1 ) 〜 ( 3 ) からなる群から選ばれる 1種または 2種以上である 請求項 1 0記載の架橋重合体。
( 1 ) 水素、 ハロゲンから選ばれる原子の陰イオン
( 2 ) 窒素、 酸素、 燐、 硫黄からなる群から選ばれる原子を
1種以上有する化合物
( 3 ) 共役系化合物 訂正された用紙 ( 則 91)
1 4. 前記金属元素 ( d l ) が、 5周期の V I I I 族元素から選 ばれるものであり、 且つ前記陰イオンもしくは中性分子の配位子( d 2 ) がハロゲンイオン及び/又は第 3級ホスフィ ン化合物である請 求項 1 0記載の架橋重合体。
1 5. 前記架橋重合体 (A) の含水率が 2〜 1 0質量%、 発塵度 が 0〜 5 0 c p m、 平均粒子径が 2 0 0〜 5 0 0 /x m、 4 0 °Cの相 対湿度 8 0 %下で 3時間静置後の吸湿ブロッキング率が 0〜 5 0 % である請求項 1記載の架橋重合体。
1 6. 前記架橋重合体 (A) に、 界面活性剤、 防腐剤、 防かび剤、 抗菌剤、 酸化防止剤、 紫外線吸収剤、 着色剤 (顔料、 染料)、 芳香剤、 消臭剤、 無機質粉末、 有機質繊維状物の群から選ばれる 1種または 2種以上の添加剤 ( e ) を含有する請求項 1記載の架橋重合体。
1 7. 水溶性のビニル系モノマー及び Z又は加水分解により水溶 性となる群から選ばれる 1種または 2種以上の前記ビニル系モノマ 一 ( a ), 必要により加えられるその他の前記ビニル系モノマー ( a 3 ) 及び前記第一架橋剤 ( b l ) を、 ァゾ系開始剤、 過酸化物系開 始剤、 レドックス系開始剤及び有機ハロゲン化合物開始剤からなる 群より選ばれる 1種または 2種以上の前記開始剤 ( c ) 及び水の存 在下に重合させて得られる前記架橋重合体 (A 2 ) を、 さらに前記 第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) で表面架橋させて得られる請求項 5記載の架橋 重合体 (A) の製法。
1 8. 前記金属元素 ( d 1 ) と前記陰イオンもしく は中性分子の 訂正された用紙 (規則 91) 配位子 ( d 2 ) との前記錯化合物 ( d ) の存在下、 重合させる請求 項 1 7記載の架橋重合体の製法。
1 9. 前記金属元素 ( d 1 ) が長周期の元素周期表において I B 族及び 4〜 6周期の V I I I族から選ばれる金属元素である請求項 1 8記載の架橋重合体の製法。
2 0. 前記陰イオンもしくは中性分子の配位子 ( d 2 ) が、 下記 ( 1 ) 〜 ( 3 ) からなる群から選ばれる 1種または 2種以上である 請求項 1 8記載の架橋重合体の製法。
( 1 ) 水素、 ハロゲンから選ばれる原子の陰イオン
( 2 ) 窒素、 酸素、 燐、 硫黄からなる群から選ばれる原子を 1 種以上有する化合物
( 3 ) 共役系化合物
2 1. 前記金属元素 (d l ) が、 5周期の V I I I族元素から選 ばれるものであり、 且つ前記陰イオンもしくは中性分子の配位子( d 2 ) がハロゲンィオン及び/又は第 3級ホスフィ ン化合物である請 求項 1 8記載の架橋重合体の製法。
2 2. 前記第一架橋剤 ( b 1 ) の量が、 前記ビニル系モノマー ( a ) の質量又は前記ビニル系モノマー ( a ) 及び前記ビニル系モノマー ( a 3 ) の合計質量に基づいて 0. 0 0 1〜 5. 0質量%である請 求法 1 8記載の架橋重合体の製法。
2 3. 前記第二架橋剤 ( b 2 ) の量が、 前記ビニル系モノマ一 ( a ) 訂正された用紙 (規則 91) の質量又は前記ビニル系モノマー ( a ) 及び前記ビニル系モノマー ( a 3 ) の合計質量に基づいて 0. 0 0 1〜 7. 0質量%である請 求法 1 8記載の架橋重合体の製法。
2 4. 前記開始剤 ( c ) の量が、 ビニル系モノマー ( a ) 及び架 橋剤 ( b) の合計質量又はビニル系モノマー ( a )、 ビニル系モノマ — ( a 3 ) 及び架橋剤 ( b ) の合計質量に基づいて 0. 0 0 5〜 0. 5質量%である請求法 1 8記載の架橋重合体の製法。
2 5. 請求項 1記載の架橋重合体 (A) と繊維状物 ( B ) とのマ ト リ ックスから構成される吸収性構造物 ( C) であって、 該架橋重 合体 (A) の量が該吸収性構造物 ( C ) に対して 3 0〜 9 5重量% である吸収性構造物。
2 6. 請求項 2 5記載の吸収性構造物 (C)、 液体透過性シー ト、 通気性バックシー トを備えた吸収性物品。
2 7. 紙おむつ、 生理用ナプキン、 パッ ド、 紙夕オル、 ペッ トシ 一卜からなる衛生用品である請求項 2 6記載の吸収性物品。
