Abstract

Es werden ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Trocknen und/oder Vernetzen einer lösemittelhaltigen Beschichtung eines Metallbands (8) beschrieben, bei dem das beschichtete Metallband (8) in an und für sich bekannte Weise durch eine Trockenvorrichtung geführt wird. In dieser wird es mit Infrarotstrahlung, insbesondere im Wellenlängenbereich zwischen etwa O,8µm und etwa l,5µm beaufschlagt. Gleichzeitig wird in den Innenraum der Trockenvorrichtung ein Gas eingeleitet, dessen Temperatur über der Kondensationstemperatur des Lösemittels liegt. Im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen Verfahren und Vorrichtungen dieser Art, die mit Induktionsspulen arbeiten, wird nicht das Basismaterial, also das Metallband (8), sondern primär die Beschichtung selbst erhitzt. Dies führt zu schnelleren Trocknungs- und Vernetzungszeiten sowie einem besseren thermischen Wirkungsgrad.
