Abstract

Bei einem Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Metallbandes durch kontinuierliches Abgiessen von Metallschmelze zwischen zwei Giessrollen (1, 2) einer Bandgiessmaschine wird durch Einblasen von Gas auf die Schmelzbadoberfläche (4a) eine Oberflächenströmung wenigstens der auf der Schmelze befindlichen Einschlüsse bzw. Verunreinigungen erzeugt. Durch dieses Gaseinblasen werden diese Einschlüsse bzw. Verunreinigungen seitwärts gegen die Seitenabdichtungen (3) hin gefördert. Hierfür ist eine Vorrichtung (25) vorgesehen, die mindestens einen oberhalb der Schmelzbadoberfläche (4a) angeordneten, in Längsrichtung der Giessrollen (1, 2) verlaufenden Gaskanal (35, 36; 52) mit einer Anzahl von über seine Gesamtlänge verteilten, schräg nach unten und zu der nächstliegenden Seitenabdichtung (3) hin gerichteten Austrittsöffnungen (46; 55) aufweist. Damit können diese Verunreinigungen zumindest über einen grossen Teil des gegossenen Bandes ferngehalten werden und damit die Reinheit des Bandes gesteigert werden.
