Abstract

本発明は、現在よく使用されているアルカリ触媒法に存在する触媒の分離・回収問題、原料中の遊離脂肪酸による触媒の過剰消耗問題などを解決し、そして従来の超臨界メタノール法におけるアルコールを大過剰に存在させる問題を解決し、水や遊離脂肪酸を存在させた反応系で脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物を製造する方法を提供することを課題とする。本発明は、脂肪酸グリセリド及び/又は脂肪酸を含む油脂類を用いて脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物を製造する方法であって、前記油脂類にアルコールおよび/又は水を共存させ、温度100℃~370℃、圧力1~100MPaの条件下で反応を行うことを特徴とする脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物の製造方法を提供することにより、前記課題を解決したものである。

Description

脂肪 エステル組成物の製造方法 技術分野
本発明は、 脂肪酸グリセリ ド及び/又は脂肪酸を含む油脂類を処理し 明
て、 ディーゼル燃料油 (特にバイオディーゼル燃料油) として有効利用 できる脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物田の製造方法、 詳細には、 現在よく 使用されているアル力リ触媒法に存在する触媒の分離 ·回収問題、 原料 中の遊離脂肪酸による触媒の過剰消耗問題、 原料中の水による反応性の 低下などを解決し、 そして従来の超臨界メタノール法における大過剰の アルコールを使用する問題を解決するとともに、 水や遊離脂肪酸を存在 させた反応系にて脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物を高収率に製造する方 法に関する。 背景技術 .
植物油、 動物脂及びそれらの使用済み油脂の主成分であるモノグリセ リ ド、 ジグリセリ ド及びトリグリセリ ド (ここではこれらを総称して脂 肪酸グリセリ ドと呼ぶ) をアルキルアルコールとエステル交換反応させ ることによって、 脂肪酸アルキルエステルが得られることは以前から知 られている(例えば、 「有機化学ハンドブック」技報堂出版、 1988、ρ.1407 〜ρ.1409) 。 またこの反応を利用して、 油脂類からディーゼル燃料油と して使える脂肪酸アルキルエステルの製造技術についてもこれまで様々 に検討されてきた。
脂肪酸ダリセリ ドから脂肪酸エステルを工業的に製造する方法として は、 脂肪酸グリセリ :ドを一旦加水分解し脂肪酸に変換してから、 酸触媒 または酵素触媒の存在下、 無水条件下でさらに脂肪酸をアルコール類と の脱水反応 (エステル化反応) により脂肪酸アルキルエステルに変換す るといった方法が古くから知られているが、 反応速度が遅いということ から工業的な製造方法としてほとんど使用されていない。 現在、 工業的 によく使用されている方法は、 無水条件下、 脂肪酸トリグリセリ ドをァ ルカリ金属触媒の存在下に常圧で低級アルコールの沸点近傍又は常温に てエステル交換反応させる方法である。 しかしながら、 この反応では反 応溶液中にアルカリ金属触媒を溶解した状態で使用されるものであるた め、 アルカリ金属触媒は生成物の溶液中に溶解することになり、 その分 離、 回収が困難であるという問題がある。
さらに、 廃油などには水が含まれている場合が多く、 前記アルカリ金 属触媒法の使用にあたっては、 原料中の水分除去が前処理として不可欠 である。 また: 天然の油脂には遊離脂肪酸が含有されているのが一般的 であり、 原料の起源やその処理法によっても遊離脂肪酸の含有量が異な つてくる。 例えば廃食用油には 3 °/0以上、 搾油工程からのパーム油には 5 %以上の脂肪酸が含まれている。 遊離脂肪酸が多量に含まれた状態で アルカリ金属触媒を使うと、 アルカリセッケンが副生し、 アルカリ金属 触媒が過剰に必要になり、 あるいは副生したアル力リセッケンの めに 脂肪酸エステル層とグリセリ ン層との分離が困難になる等の問題が生じ る。 こうしたことから、 脂肪酸グリセリ ドのエステル交換反応をアル力 リ金属触媒の存在下で行なう場合は、 遊離脂肪酸を除去するための前処 理工程が必要となる。
このような問題を回避するという観点かち、 例えば特開昭 6 1— 1 4 0 4 4号公報には、 前処理工程として酸触媒による遊離脂肪酸のエステ ルに変換する方法も開示されている。 この方法では、 脂肪酸グリセリ ド のエステル交換反応をアル力リ金属触媒の存在下で行なう前処理として、 遊離脂肪酸をエステルに変換するものであるが、 次の脂肪酸ダリセリ ド のエステル交換反応を行なう前に酸触媒の除去が必要であり、 また、 酸 触媒が残存していると中和されてしまうので、 その分だけアル力リ金属 触媒の使用量が増大するという問題がある。
なお、 上記のような前処理工程を必要としない脂肪酸エステルの製造 法として、 固体酸触媒を用いる方法も提案されている (例えば、 特開平 6— 3 1 3 1 8 8号公報) 。 しかしながら、 酸触媒は、 油脂類のエステ ル交換反応に対する活性がアル力リ金属触媒に比べて低いという決定的 な欠点があり、 酸触媒を使用するエステル交換反応では触媒が大量に必 要となるという問題がある。
一方、 最近触媒を使用せずに、 アルコールの超臨界条件で油脂類のェ ステル交換反応を行なう、 いわゆる超臨界メタノ一ル法も提案されてい る (例えば、 特開 2 0 0 0— 2 0 4 3 9 2号公報、 特開 2 0 0 0— 1 0 9 8 8 3号公報) 。 しかしながら超臨界メタノール法においては、 エス テル交換反応を効率的に進行させるには、 アルコールを大過剰に存在さ せることが必要であり、 3 0 0 °C以上の高温が必要であるといった欠点 がある。 さらに、 この方法では、 反応系における水の存在の効果につい ては認識していない。
本発明は、 上記のような事情に着目されてなされたものであって、 そ の目的は現在よく使用されているアルカリ金属触媒法に存在する触媒の 分離 ·回収問題、 原料中の遊離脂肪酸による触媒の過剰消耗問題、 原料 中の水によるエステル交換反応の低下の問題などを解決し、 そして従来 の超臨界メタノール法におけるアルコールを大過剰に存在させる問題を 解決することにあり、 特に製油工場における精製工程から出されている 遊離脂肪酸が主成分となるダーク油や遊離脂肪酸含有量及び Z又は水含 有量が高い廃食用油など、 従来の技術では対応できない原料油からの脂 肪酸アルキルエステルへの変換に対して有効である脂肪酸アルキルエス' テルの製造方法を提供する。 発明の開示
. 本発明者は、 鋭意研究した結果、 脂肪酸ダリセリ ド及び/ /又は脂肪酸 を含む油脂類を用いて脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物を製造するに際し、 該油脂類にアルコール及び/又は水を共存させて特定の条件下に反応を 行うことにより、 前記課題を解決し得ることの知見を得た。
本発明は、 前記知見に基づきなされたもので、 脂肪酸グリセリ ド及び Z又は脂肪酸を含む油脂類を用いて脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物を製 造する方法であって、前記油脂類にアルコール及び/又は水を共存させ、 温度 1 0 0 °C〜 3 7 0 °C、 圧力 1〜: L O O M P aの条件下で反応を行う ことを特徴とする、 脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物の製造方法を提供す るものである。
本明細書において、 「油脂類」 とは、 上記のように脂肪酸グリセリ ド 及び/又は脂肪酸を含むものであって、 一般にいう脂肪酸モノグリセリ ド、 脂肪酸ジグリセリ ド、 脂肪酸卜リグリセリ ドを主と し T含むものの 他、 脂肪酸、 及びこれらの混合物をいう。 即ち、 「油脂類」 というとき には、 脂肪酸ダリセリ ドを含まず脂肪酸のみを含むものをも広く包含す るものとする。 図面の簡単な説明

第 3図は、 3 5 0 °Cでの各種超臨界アルコール処理による菜種油のェ ステル交換反応の反応時間と生成した各種脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成 物の収率との関係の相違を示すグラフである。

以下、 本発明の脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物の製造方法を、 その好 ましい実施形態に基づいて詳細に説明する。
本発明の製造方法は、 脂肪酸ダリセリ ド及び Z又は脂肪酸を含む油脂 類を用いて脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物を製造する方法であって、 前 記油脂類にアルコール及び/又は水を共存させ、 温度 1 0 0 °C〜 3 7 0。C、 圧力 l〜 1 0 0 M P aの条件下で反応を行うことを特徴とする。 本発明は、 かかる構成からなる方法によるため、 アルカリ触媒法に存在 する触媒の分離 ·回収問題、 原料中の遊離脂肪酸による触媒の過剰消耗 問題、 原料中の水によるエステル交換反応の低下の問題を生ずることが なく、 更に従来の超臨界メタノール法におけるアルコールを大過剰に存 在させる問題を解決するとともに、 水や遊離脂肪酸を存在させた反応系 でも脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物を高収率に製造することを可能とし たものである。 また、 本発明の製造方法によれば、 特に製油工場におけ る精製工程から出されている遊離脂肪酸が主成分となるダーク油や遊離 脂肪酸含有量及び Z又は水含有量が高い廃食用油など、 従来の技術では 対応できない原料油からの脂肪酸アルキルエステルへの変換に対して有 効である。
本発明の製造方法においては、 前記油脂類にアルコール及び/又は水 を共存させ、 温度 1 0 0 °C〜 3 7 0 °C、 圧力 1〜; l O O M P aの条件下 で反応を行うという条件に従う限り、 行う反応の種類や反応工程のステ ップ数には特に制限を受けるものではないが、 特に、 下記の態様による のが有用である。
(第 1の実施形態)
本発明においては、 脂肪酸グリセリ ドを少なくとも含む前記油脂類に アルコールと水とを共存させて、 温度 1 0 0〜 3 7 0 ° ( 、 圧力 5〜: L 0 O M P a (好ましくは 5〜 5 O M P a ) の条件で反応を行ない、 前記油 脂類に含まれる脂肪酸グリセリ ドと脂肪酸とを脂肪酸アルキルエステル に変換する工程を含むこと (第 1の実施形態) が好ましい。 かかる第 1 の実施形態によれば、 水及びアルコール、 特に水が酸触媒として働き、 脂肪酸グリセリ ドはエステル交換反応によりアルコールと反応し、 脂肪 酸アルキルエステルとなる。 また、 脂肪酸グリセリ ドの一部は水により 加水分解し脂肪酸となるが、 水及びアルコール、 特に水が酸触媒として エステル化反応が進行し脂肪酸アルキルエステルとなるため、 水のアル コールとの共存は有用である。
第 1の実施形態においては、 その反応条件として、 特に、 温度 2 0 0 〜 3 0 0 °C、 圧力 1 5〜2 5 M P aで反応を行なうことカ、 エネルギー 消耗量及び装置の腐食性の観点から好適である。 即ち、 脂肪酸グリセリ ドを少なくとも含む前記油脂類にアルコールと水とを共存させて、 温度 2 0 0〜 3 0 0 °C、 圧力 1 5〜2 5 M P aの条件で反応を行ない、 前記 油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸グリセリ ドと脂肪酸とを脂肪酸アルキルエステ ルに変換する工程を含むことが更に好ましい。 この反応条件では、 特に 高収率で脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物を得ることができ、 しかも、 従 来の超臨界メタノール法で必要な高温、 高圧条件によらずに、 脂肪酸ァ ルキルエステルの製造が可能である。 従って、 エネルギー消耗量も少な いだけでなく、 安全性、 装置の腐食性の問題もなく、 また、 高温、 高圧 流体による装置の腐食を回避するための、 ハステロイ、 インコネル等の 高価な特殊合金を使用する必要もない。
この第 1の実施形態においては、 前記油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸グリセ リ ドと脂肪酸とを脂肪酸アルキルエステルに変換する工程を含むもので あるが、 これは、 脂肪酸グリセリ ドを少なくとも含む原料の油脂類とと もに、 アルコールと水とを共存させることにより、 脂肪酸グリセリ ドで は加水分解反応及び/又はエステル交換反応が起こり、 油脂類に含まれ る脂肪酸及び Z又は前記加水分解反応により生成した脂肪酸はエステル 化反応により脂肪酸アルキルエステルに交換されるものと推察され、 1 ステップで反応を行うことを可能としたものである。 これらの反応にお いて、 本発明に係る反応温度及び反応圧力の条件下でのアルコール及ぴ 水、 特に水は酸触媒として働いている。
(第 2の実施形態) 本発明においては、 脂肪酸グリセリ ドを少なく とも含む前記油脂類に 水を共存させ、 温度 1 00〜 3 7 0°C、 圧力 1〜: L O OMP a (好まし くは l〜 5 0MP a) の条件で反応を行ない、 前記油脂類に含まれる脂 肪酸グリセリ ドを脂肪酸に変換する第 1の工程と、 前記第 1の工程から の生成物にアルコールを添加し、 温度 1 0 0〜 3 70°C、 圧力 5〜 1 0 OMP a (好ましくは 5〜 5 OMP a ) の条件でさらに反応を行ない、 第 1の工程からの生成物に含まれる脂肪酸を脂肪酸アルキルエステルに 変換する第 2の工程とを含むこと (第 2の実施形態) も好ましい。 かか る第 2の実施形態によれば、 特に、 未反応の脂肪酸モノグリセリ ド、 脂 肪酸ジグリセリ ド、 脂肪酸トリグリセリ ドは第 1工程にて殆ど残存せず 脂肪酸となり、 第 2の工程で効果的に脂肪酸アルキルエステルに変換さ れるため有用である。
第 2の実施形態においては、 その反応条件として、 特に、 温度 1 5 0 〜 3 0 0°C、 圧力 5〜 2 5 MP aで反応を行なうことが、 エネルギー消 耗量及び装置の腐食性の観点から好適である。 即ち、 脂肪酸グリセリ ド を少なく とも含む前記油脂類に水を共存させ、 温度 1 5 0〜 3 00°C、 圧力 5〜 2 5MP aの条件で反応を行ない、 前記油脂類に含まれる脂肪 酸グリセリ ド'を脂肪酸に変換する第 1の工程と、 前記第 1め工程からの 生成物にアルコールを添加し、 温度 2 0 0〜 3 00 °C、 圧力 1 5〜 2 5 MP aの条件でさらに反応を行ない、 第 1の工程からの生成物に含まれ る脂肪酸を脂肪酸アルキルエステルに変換する第 2の工程とを含むこと が更に好ましい。 この反応条件は、 前記の第 1の実施形態における好適 な反応条件で行う場合と同様の理由から、 即ち、 特に高収率で脂肪酸ァ ルキルエステル組成物を得ることができ、 しかも、 従来の超臨界メタノ ール法で必要な高温、高圧条件の問題が生じないため、特に有用である。 この第 2の実施形態においては、 前記油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸グリセ リ ドを脂肪酸に変換する第 1の工程と、 第 1の工程からの生成物に含ま れる脂肪酸を脂肪酸アルキルエステルに変換する第 2の工程とを含むも の、 という 2ステップで反応を行うものである。 このうち、 第 1の工程 は、 下記反応式で示される加水分解反応により、 脂肪酸グリセリ ドを脂 肪酸に変換するものである。

前記反応式に示されるように、 第 1の工程では、 原料として用いる油 脂類中の脂肪酸ダリセリ ドを水と反応させて、 該グリセリ ドから遊離し た脂肪酸 (RnCOOH) を生成させる。 この遊離脂肪酸は、 後述の第 2の工程に供される。
尚、 前記反応式は、 脂肪酸トリグリセリ ドを例として示すもので、 こ の他、 原料としての油脂類中に脂肪酸ジグリセリ ド及び/又は脂肪酸モ ノグリセリ ドを含む場合には、 これらも同様に加水分解反応する。
また、 第 2の工程においては、 前記第 1の工程の加水分解反応で生成 した遊離脂肪酸、 又は原料の油脂類中に最初から脂肪酸が含まれている 場合には該脂肪酸及ぴ上記遊離脂肪酸をアルコールと反応させて、 エス テル化反応により脂肪酸アルキルエステルを生成させる。
第 2の工程は、 このように脂肪酸とアルコールとの反応によってエス テル化するものである。 このエステル化反応の反応速度は、 脂肪酸ダリ セリ ドとアルコールとの反応によって脂肪酸エステルに変換するエステ ル交換反応よりも大きいことが本発明者により明らかにされた (第 1図 参照) 。 尚、 第 1図は、 3 0 0°C、 '3 0 MP aでエステル化反応及ぴェ ステル交換反応それぞれを行ったときの反応時間と収率との関係の相違 を示すグラフである。
ここで、 エステル交換反応にて未反応なものは、 主としてモノグリセ ライ ド等の部分エステル交換物である。 この部分エステル交換物は、 ェ ンジン燃料油に利用した場合にエンジントラブルを起こす総グリセロー ル量の増大につながるものである。 従って、 これらを完全に脂肪酸アル キルエステルに変換することが不可欠であるが、 それには多大のェネル ギー (より長い反応時間) が必要である。
本発明の第 2の実施形態においては、 第 1の工程を温度 1 50〜 3 0 0°C、 特に 2 5 0〜 3 0 0 °C、 圧力 5〜 2 5 MP a、 特に 1 5〜 2 5 M P aにて 1 5〜 2 5分で行い、 第 2の工程も温度 2 5 0〜 300°C、 圧 力 1 5〜 2 5MP aにて 1 5〜 2 5分で行うことが特に好ましい。
(第 3の実施形態)
本発明においては、 脂肪酸グリセリ ドを含まない前記油脂類にアルコ ールを共存させて、 温度 1 00〜 3 70°C、 圧力 5〜 1 0 OMP a (好 ましくは 5〜5 0MP a) の条件で反応を行ない、 前記油脂類に含まれ る脂肪酸を脂肪酸アルキルエステルに変換する工程を含むこと (第 3の 実施形態) も好ましい。 かかる第 3の実施形態によれば、 特に、 アル力 リ金属触媒法では不可能な脂肪酸を脂肪酸アルキルエステルに容易に変 換し得るため有用である。
第 3の実施形態においては、 その反応条件として、 特に、 温度 2 0 0 〜 30 0 °C、 圧力 1 5〜 2 5 MP aで反応を行なうことが好適である。 即ち、 脂肪酸ダリセリ ドを含まない前記油脂類にアルコールを共存させ て、 温度 200〜 3 0 0°C、 圧力 1 5〜 2 5MP aの条件で反応を行な レ、、 前記油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸を脂肪酸アルキルエステルに変換する 工程を含むことが更に好ましい。 この反応条件は、 前記の第 1の実施形 態における好適な反応条件で行う場合と同様の理由から、 即ち、 特に高 収率で脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物を得ることができ、 しかも、 従来 の超臨界メタノール法で必要な高温、 高圧条件の問題が生じないため、 特に有用である。
この第 3の実施形態においては、 脂肪酸グリセリ ドを含まない前記油 脂類を用い、 該油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸を脂肪酸アルキルエステルに変 換する工程を含むものであるが、 これは、 前述した第 2の実施形態にお ける第 1の工程 (加水分解反応) を経ずに、 第 2の工程 (エステル化反 応) のみを経ることにより、 脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物を得ること ができ、 工程の簡便な方法である。
本発明の製造方法において、 前記油脂類が脂肪酸グリセリ ドを含む場 合には、 加水分解反応を効果的に進めて脂肪酸に変換する点で、 該脂肪 酸グリセリ ド 1モルに対して、 水を 3〜: L 0 0 0モル、 特に 3 0〜 4 0 0モル使用することが好ましく、 また、 該脂肪酸ダリセリ ドを直接エス テル交換反応によ り効果的に脂肪酸アルキルエステルに交換、 更には上 記加水分解反応により生成した脂肪酸を効果的に脂肪酸アルキルエステ ルに変換する点で、 該脂肺酸グリセリ ド 1モルに対して、 アルコールを 3〜 1 0 0 0モル、 特に 3 0〜 4 0 0モル使用することが好ましい。 また、 前記油脂類が脂肪酸を含む場合には、 該脂肪酸をエステル化反 応により効果的に脂肪酸アルキルエステルに変換する点で該脂肪酸 1モ ルに対して、 アルコールを 1〜 3 3 0モル、 特に 1 0〜 1 3 0モル使用 することが好ましい。
本発明の製造方法においては、 前記の反応温度及び反応圧力の範囲內 で反応を行う限り、 反応時間に特に制限されるものではなく、 反応時間 は、 該反応温度及ぴ反応圧力の条件に応じて適宜設定される。 反応時間 の一例を示すと、 例えば、 反応温度が 2 5 0〜3 0 0 °Cで、 反応圧力が 1 5〜3 0 M P aの場合には、 反応時間は 4〜 6 0分が好ましく、 3 0 〜 5 0分が更に好ましい。
本発明の製造方法に使用する原料の油脂類としては、 植物油、 動物油 及びそれらの使用済み廃油等が挙げられる。 植物油としては、 椰子油、 パーム油、 パーム核油、 大豆油、 菜種油等の天然の植物性油脂が挙げら れる。 また、 動物油としては、 牛脂、 豚脂、 魚油等の天然の動物性油脂 が挙げられる。 また、 廃油としては、 これらの植物油や動物油を特定の 目的に使用した後の廃油が挙げられる。 これらの油脂類は、 単独または 混合して使用できる。
本発明の製造方法に使用するアルコールとしては、 炭素数 1〜 1 0の アルコールが有用である。 特にディーゼル燃料油、 とりわけバイオディ ーゼル燃料油として良質な低級アルキルエステルを生成させるという観 点からして、 メチルアルコール、 エチルアルコール、 プロ ピノレアノレコー ル、 i 一プロピノレアノレコ一ノレ、 プチ/レアノレコーノレ、 2ーブチノレアノレコ一 /レ、 i ーブチノレアゾレコ一ノレ、 t —プチゾレアノレコ—ノレ、 ペンチノレアノレコ— ル等、炭素数が 1〜 5程度の低級アルコールを使用することが好ましい。 このうち、 特にメチルアルコールは、 低コス トであること及び回収の容 易なことからして好ましい。 勿論、 デシルアルコールのような炭素数が 6以上の高級アルコ ルを用いることもできる。
また、本発明の製造方法では、触媒の使用の有無に特に制限はないが、 無触媒で行う場合の他、 必要に応じて、 酸性又はアルカリ性触媒、' リパ ーゼ触媒等を用いることもできる。 また、 本発明の製造方法において用 いる反応装置としては、 高圧、 高温に耐え得る装置であれば如何なる装 置でも使用することができる。 尚、 加水分解反応を無触媒で行う場合に おいて、 アルコール及び/又は水は、 本発明に係る条件下、 酸触媒とし て働いている。
本発明の製造方法によって得られる脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物は、 種々の用途に使用可能であるが、 特にディーゼル燃料油、 とりわけバイ ォディーゼル燃料油として有用である。
以下、 実施例及び比較例を挙げて、 本発明を更に詳細に説明する。 し かしながら、 本発明はこれらの実施例に何等限定されるものではない。
〔実施例 1〕 本発明の第 2の実施形態に係る実施例 (その 1 )
①第 1工程 (脂肪酸グリセリ ドの加水分解反応)
1 m 1のなたね油 (トリグリセリ ド含有量: 9 7 . 5 %、 遊離脂肪酸 含有量: 2 . 5 % ) と 4 m 1の水 (トリグリセリ ドゾ水 = 1 / 2 1 7モ ル比) とを内容積 5 m 1 の Inconel-625製反応管に充填した。 この反応 管を所定温度に設定されたスズ浴に投入し、 振動させながら所定圧力で 所定時間まで反応させた。 所定反応時間に到達したら、 速やかに反応管 をスズ浴から出し、 水バスに投入し室温まで急冷却した。 反応管の内容 物はメスシリ ンダーに移し、 3 0分静置すると、 生成した脂肪酸 (場合 によっては未反応の脂肪酸ダリセリ ドを含む) からなる上層とグリセ口 ールを含む水からなる下層の 2層に分かれた。 これより、 上層を取り出 し、 エバポレートすることにより、 微量存在する水を完全に除去した。 ②第 2工程 (メチルエステル化反応)
次いで、 反応管に、 第 1工程で得られた脂肪酸 (場合によっては未反 応の脂肪酸グリセリ ドを含む) とメタノール約 4 m 1を加え (原料のト リグリセリ ドとメタノールとの比 = 1 Z 1 0 0モル比)全量 5 m l とし、 所定温度、 所定圧力にて所定時間までメチルエステル化反応を行った。 所定反応時間に到達した後、 反応管を室温まで急冷却し、 反応管の内容 物から未反応のメタノール及び生成した水を除去した。 得られた生成物 については、 新たなメタノールに溶解して高性能液体クロマトグラフ (HPLC) により示查屈折検知器を用いて組成分析を行なった。 その組 成分析結果からメチルエステル収率を求めた。
各実施例 (実施例 1一 1 〜 1一 1 3 ) における加水分解反応の条件を 表 1に示し、 またメチルエステル化反応の条件を表 2に示し、 各実施例 で得られた脂肪酸メチルエステルの収率を表 2に併せて示す。

〔実施例 2〕 本発明の第 2の実施形態に係る実施例 (その 2 )
①第 1工程 (脂肪酸グリセリ ドの加水分解反応)
反応温度と反応時間を一定にし、 なたね油 (トリグリセリ ド含有量: 9 7 . 5 %、 遊離脂肪酸含有量: 2 . 5 % ) と水との体積比及び反応圧 力を変え、 実施例 1 と同様の操作手順によって脂肪酸グリセリ ドの加水 分解反応を行った。
②第 2工程 (メチルエステル化反応)
次いで、 所定の反応温度、 反応圧力及び反応時間に設定した他は、 実 施例 1 と同様の操作手順によってメチルエステル化反応を行った。
そして、 反応生成物の組成分析を実施例 1 と同様の手順で行い、 その 分析結果からメチルエステル収率を求めた。
各実施例 (実施例 2— 1〜 2— 6 ) における加水分解反応の条件を表 3に示し、 またメチルエステル化反応の条件を表 4に示し、 各実施例で 得られた脂肪酸メチルエステルの収率を表 4に併せて示す。

〔実施例 3〕 本発明の第 3の実施形態に係る実施例
(脂肪酸のエステル化反応)
試薬として市販されているパルミンチン酸、 ステアリ ン酸、 ォレイン 酸、 リノール酸及びリノレイン酸 (いずれもナカライテスタ製) を原料 とし、 表 5に示す容量比、 温度、 圧力及ぴ反応時間の条件にて、 脂肪酸 とメタノ一ルとのエステル化反応を行った。 脂肪酸とメタノールとのェ ステル化反応は、 脂肪酸とメタノールとを 1 : 4 2のモル比率で内容積 5 m 1の Inconel-625製反応管に充填し、 実施例 1におけるメチルエス テル化反応と同様な手順で反応を行なった。 反応生成物は、 実施例 1 と 同様な方法で未反応のメタノール及び生成した水を除去した後、 新たな メタノールに溶解して HPLC分析を行なった。 その HPLC分析結果か ら、 脂肪酸からの脂肪酸メチルエステルへの転換率 (=メチルエステル 収率) を求めた。 その結果を反応条件と併せて表 5に示す。

〔実施例 4〕 本発明の第 1の実施形態に係る実施例
(トリグリセリ ドの加水分解と脂肪酸のエステル化; 1ステップ反応) 遊離脂肪酸と トリグリセリ ドを含む油脂と水とメタノールとの反応 1 . 6 m 1のなたね油 (トリグリセリ ド含有量: 9 7 . 5 %、 遊離脂 肪酸含有量: 2 . 5 % ) と所定量の水と所定量のメタノールとを内容積
5 m 1 の Inconel-625製反応管に充填した。 この反応管を所定温度に設 定されたスズ浴に投入し、振動させながら所定圧力で 4分間反応させた。 反応後、 速やかに反応管をスズ浴から出し、 水バスに投入し室温まで急 冷却した。 反応管の内容物から未反応のメタノール及び水並びに生成し た水を除去した。 得られた生成物については、 実施例 1と同様にして組 成分析を行い、 その組成分析結果からメチルエステル収率を求めた。 各実施例 (実施例 4— 1〜4一 8 ) における反応条件を表 6に示し、 各実施例で得られた脂肪酸メチルエステルの収率を表 6に併せて示す。

実施例 1〜 4の各実施例で得られた脂肪酸メチルエステル組成物は、 ノ ィオデイ一ゼル燃料油として有用であることが確認できた。 〔実施例 5〕 (脂肪酸のエステル化反応とエステル交換反応) 表 7に示す油脂類及びアルコールを原料とし、 表 7に示すモル比、 温 度、 圧力及び反応時間の条件にて、 パッチ型超臨界流体バイオマス変換 装置を用いて、 脂肪酸とアルコールとのエステル化反応、 又は菜種油と アルコールとのエステル交換反応を行った。 尚、 菜種油の約 9 8. 5 % がトリグリセライ ドであることから、 菜種油からの反応はエステル交換 反応であるといえる。
反応生成物は、 実施例 1と同様な方法で HPLC 分析を行ない、 その HPLC分析結果から、 脂肪酸又は菜種油からの脂肪酸アルキルエステル への転換率 (=アルキルエステル収率) を求めた。 その結果を反応条件 と併せて表 7に示す。

表 7に示す結果から、 以下のことが明らかである。
油脂類原料と して菜種油を用いた場合のエステル交換反応 (反応温度
3 00°C) は、 メタノールとの反応では、 処理時間が 1 5分で収率が 9 8 %ほどになることに対して、 ブタノールとの反応では、 処理時間が 4 5分で収率が 8 0 %程度となる。 また、 このエステル交換反応は、 アル コールの炭素数が減少するに従い、その反応性が向上することが判る(以 上、第 2図参照)。反応温度 3 5 0°Cにおける同エステル交換反応でも、 同様のことがいえる (第 3図参照) 。 尚、 本実施例では、 バッチ型装置 を用いているが、 圧力による影響のない、 すなわち同一の圧力条件で処 理できる流通型装置を用いることも可能である (後述) 。 また、 参考ま でに、 実施例で使用した各種アルコールの臨界温度及び臨界圧力を、 実 施例における温度及び圧力条件と併せて表に示す。

表 8に示すように、 バッチ型装置を用いた場合、 アルコールの炭素数 が增大すると、 反応管内の圧力が低下するため、 脂肪酸アルキルエステ ルの収率も低下する可能性がある。 一方、 流通型装置を用いて同一条件 で反応させたところ、 第 6図のグラフに示す結果を得た。 即ち、 同一圧 力の条件下で比較しても、 アルコールの炭素数が増加すると、 収率も低 下することが明らかとなり、 バッチ型装置での結果と同様であるとの結 論を得た。
また、油脂類原料として各種脂肪酸を用いた場合のエステル化反応は、 アルコールゃ脂肪酸の種類による反応性にさほど違いは見られず、 処理 時間 1 5分でほぼ反応は完了する (第 4図参照) 。
以上のことから、 エステル化反応による方法は、 エステル交換反応に よる方法に比して、 反応性が高いということが明らかである。
尚、 各種アルコール相互間での反応圧力の条件が異なるため、 それら 相互の比較は困難であるが、 夫々のアルコールにおける反応は、 同一圧 力、 同一温度の条件で行っている。 これにより、 油脂類原料として、 各 種脂肪酸を用いた反応 (エステル化反応) は、 菜種油を用いた反応 (ェ ステル交換反応) に比して、 より速くアルキルエステル化されることを 明らかにした (第 5図参照) 。
従って、 トリグリセライ ドを加水分解して脂肪酸とし、 次いでアルキ ルエステル化することがより短時間、 即ち省エネルギーで反応を完了で きるといえる。
また、 実施例 5の各実施例で得られた脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物 は、 バイオディーゼル燃料油として有用であることが確認できた。 産業上の利用可能性
本発明によれば、 アル力リ金属触媒法に存在する触媒の分離 ·回収問 題、 原料中の遊離脂肪酸による触媒の過剰消耗問題、 原料中の水による エステル交換反応の低下の問題などを解決し、 そして従来の超臨界メタ ノール法におけるアルコールを大過剰に存在させる問題を解決し、 且つ 反応系に水や遊離脂肪酸が含まれていても反応の進行に影響されずに、 脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物を製造することができる。

Claims

請 求 の 範 囲
1. 脂肪酸グリセリ ド及び Z又は脂肪酸を含む油脂類を用いて脂肪酸ァ ルキルエステル組成物を製造する方法であって、 前記油脂類にアルコー ル及び/又は水を共存させ、 温度 1 00°C〜 3 70°C、 圧力 1 ~ 1 00 MP aの条件下で反応を行うことを特徴とする、 脂肪酸アルキルエステ ル組成物の製造方法。
2. 脂肪酸グリセリ ドを少なくとも含む前記油脂類にアルコールと水と . を共存させて、 温度 1 0 0〜 3 70°C、 圧力 5〜: L O OMP aの条件で 反応を行ない、 前記油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸ダリセリ ドと脂肪酸とを脂 肪酸アルキルエステルに変換する工程を含む、 請求の範囲第 1項に記載 の脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物の製造方法。
3. 脂肪酸グリセリ ドを少なくとも含む前記油脂類に水を共存させ、 温 度 1 0 0〜3 7 0°C、 圧力 1〜; L 0 OMP aの条件で反応を行ない、 前 記油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸グリセリ ドを脂肪酸に変換する第 1の工程と、 前記第 1の工程からの生成物にアルコールを添加し、 温度 1 00〜 3 7 0°C、 圧力 5〜 1 00MP aの条件でさらに反応を行ない、 第 1の工程 からの生成物に含まれる脂肪酸を脂肪酸アルキルエステルに変換する第 2の工程とを含む、 請求の範囲第 1項に記載の脂肪酸アルキルエステル 組成物の製造方法。
4.脂肪酸グリセリ ドを含まない前記油脂類にアルコールを共存させて、 温度 1 0 0〜 3 70° (:、 圧力 5〜; L O OMP aの条件で反応を行ない、 前記油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸を脂肪酸アルキルエステルに変換する工程 を含む、 請求項 1記載の脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物の製造方法。
5. 前記油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸グリセリ ド 1モルに対して水が 3〜 1 00 0モルであり、 アルコールが 3〜; L 0 00モルであり - そして前記 油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸 1モルに対してアルコールが 1〜 3 3 0モルで ある、 請求の範囲第 1項〜第 4項の何れかに記載の脂肪酸アルキルエス テル組成物の製造方法。
6 . 前記油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸ダリセリ ド 1モルに対して水が 3 0〜 4 0 0モノレであり、 アルコールが 3 0 ~ 4 0 0モルであり、 そして前記 油脂類に含まれる脂肪酸 1モルに対してアルコールが 1 0〜 1 3 0モル である、 請求の範囲第 5項に記載の脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物の製 造方法。
7 . 前記アルコールとして、 炭素数 1〜 1 0のアルコールを用いる、 請 求の範囲第 1項〜第 6項の何れかに記載の脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成 物の製造方法。
8 . 前記脂肪酸アルキルエステル組成物がディーゼル燃料油として使用 される、 請求の範囲第 1項〜第 7項の何れかに記載の脂肪酸アルキルェ ステル組成物の製造方法。
