Lorsque la station a besoin d'une protection, elle peut passer du mode de fonctionnement normal aux autres modes de fonctionnement grâce aux fonctions de protection des segments multiplexés, de la connexion de sous-réseaux et du canal. Cette invention concerne également un moyen de protection virtuelle pour le chemin de la fibre. Grâce à ce procédé et à ce moyen, non seulement cette invention permet de résoudre les problèmes des fonctions de protection actuelles, mais elle rend également la mise en réseau de transmissions plus flexible et les fonctions de protection plus adaptées aux demandes des utilisateurs.
