A purely electrical drive of the motor vehicle by one or more electrical machines 22 is thus possible.
- the fuel flow of the fuel cell system is limited to a minimum (ideally zero).
- the operational readiness of the fuel cell system 1 is restored by means of the start signal on the signal path 8.
- the peripheral system parts of the fuel cell system are then operated again in such a way that the fuel cell system 1 is idle and can deliver net power to the application device 2.
- the start / stop operation of the fuel cell system 1 enables an optimization of the liquid balance of this fuel cell system, since in the stop state there are no or only minimal material conversions of the reaction gases of the fuel cell system.
- the invention can either be carried out in such a way that a control device of the fuel cell system 1 communicates with the application device 2 during the entire stop phase, or in such a way that the control of the fuel cell system 1 must be “awakened” by the application device in each case.
- An example of this is shown in the signal configuration in FIG. 2.
- a stop / start ie the start of a start phase after a stop phase of the start / stop operation of the fuel cell system.
- tems 1 is possible in an analogous manner to the stop process, depending on the reference criterion for the start of the process.
- the reference criterion for triggering a start signal by the application device 2 can be, for example, a drop in the charging capacity of the energy source 3 or a deviation from an operating parameter of the fuel cell system 1, for example the deviation of the temperature of the fuel cell from a predetermined operating parameter.
- the invention has the following advantages in particular: Optimization of the energy consumption of the fuel cell system 1 by the start / stop operation.
- System components e.g. fuel cell or fuel cell stack, fuel source in the form of a bottle or a tank or a gas generator, media conveying means such as feed pumps, control devices and monitoring devices
- fuel cell system 1 can be switched off, on stand-by or in operation while a parent application or application device 2 is in operation.
- the operating media for example fuel and oxygen
- the temperature of the fuel cell system is in a predetermined operating range, which enables the fuel cell to start quickly Fuel cell system enables is held. In this way, idle operation is avoided, in which, for example, the liquid balance of the fuel cell system and defined flow conditions of the operating media are difficult to adjust.
- the operating media can be switched off, for example, by valves and / or by switching off the conveying devices for the operating media.
- the invention achieves easy controllable and energy-saving operation of the fuel cell system.
