Abstract

La présente invention concerne une pièce de couplage (3) comprenant au moins un guide d'ondes de couplage essentiellement plat (31) formé sur un substrat de couplage (30), le substrat de couplage possédant des faces opposées de substrat et de guide d'ondes, le ou les guides d'ondes de couplage possédant chacun une face de sortie, les guides d'ondes de couplage étant aptes à être optiquement couplés à un ou des guides d'ondes sources afin de fournir une énergie lumineuse à la pièce de couplage. L'invention se rapporte à un mécanisme économique permettant d'intégrer une ou plusieurs sources lumineuses à des guides d'ondes optiques avec une perte minimale de luminosité et d'énergie. L'invention permet également de faciliter le couplage de la lumière en provenance d'une source lumineuse avec des guides d'ondes d'application passifs ou actifs. L'invention permet encore de faciliter le couplage de la lumière en provenance d'un module source lumineuse avec des guides d'ondes d'application passifs ou actifs. La pièce de couplage de l'invention (3) permet de résoudre le problème de couplage en ce que a) elle comprend au moins une rainure allongée (32) formant une gorge dans la face du guide d'ondes, la rainure étant apte à recevoir un guide d'ondes d'application optique allongé (41), et b) en ce qu'au moins un guide d'ondes de couplage (31) et au moins une rainure (32) sont formés sur le substrat de couplage (30) de telle manière l'un par rapport à l'autre que la face de sortie du guide d'ondes de couplage est apte à être couplée latéralement à un guide d'ondes d'application (41) disposé dans la rainure précitée. L'invention se rapporte enfin à une pièce source lumineuse et à un module source lumineuse et à des dispositifs optiques basés sur lesdites pièces. L'invention peut par exemple être utilisée dans des lasers à fibre ou des amplificateurs à fibre de haute puissance.
