Abstract

L'invention concerne un blindage comprenant une couche extérieure et une couche intérieure composite fixée à la couche extérieure. La couche extérieure est constituée d'un matériau de fragmentation de projectile permettant de casser un projectile propulsé contre celle-ci en une pluralité de fragments de projectile. La couche intérieure est constituée d'un composite cousu permettant de capturer sensiblement les fragments de projectile. Le composite cousu comprend au moins un fil cousu à travers une partie au moins de l'épaisseur de la couche intérieure. Ce blindage est léger et hautement résistant aux projectiles, et peut être utilisé dans une vaste gamme d'applications militaires, de situations de défense du territoire et d'applications non militaires requérant une excellente résistance aux projectiles pour la protection d'individus et/ou de diverses formes d'équipements.
