  • the plastic material of the film disc 3 may be any elastically and/or plastically deformable material that is compatible with the stoma surface. It is preferable that the material have a certain amount of elasticity after being deformed such that the sheath 18 will exert a certain pressure on the stoma 16 and follow the stoma in the movements thereof that occur during the wear time of the face plate 6.
  • the disc 3 could be made of a membrane of open or closed cell foam made of one of the mentioned materials or of silicone.
  • the deformation of the membrane 3 may be carried out by a mandrel that could be circular cylindrical, but for certain stoma shapes and sizes frusto-conical mandrels may be better suited such that the deformation also becomes frusto-conical.
  • Other shapes of the mandrels may be employed, for instance mandrels with an elliptical or oval cross section or an irregular cross section to reflect the irregular cross section of the particular stoma.

  • An annular ring 38 is attached to the ostomy pouch 36 by means of a heat seal or adhesive 39 while the deformable stoma sheath membrane 3 is attached to the ring 38 by means of a heat seal or adhesive 40.

  • the ring 38 could be eliminated such that the membrane 3 is attached directly to the wall of the ostomy pouch 36 by means of the heat seal or adhesive 39.
  • the membrane 3 attached to the coupling rings 2, 19, 32 or 33 or ring 38 could alternatively already be deformed and cut to form the sheath 18 (see Fig. 6) before these coupling rings are attached to the respective ostomy pouch or face plate such that the user or care person does not have to deform and cut the membrane 3 to form the sheath 18.
  • the coupling ring 2 is provided with an alternative ostomy sheath membrane 41 of a flexible, elastic and/or plastic material having an aperture 42 for receiving a stoma.
  • the membrane 42 is provided with annular folds or corrugations 43 extending concentrically to the aperture 42.
  • the folds 43 allow the membrane 41 to accordion-like follow the movements of a stoma received in the aperture 42 when the stoma expands and retracts during the course of a day.
  • the membrane 41 may be attached directly to an ostomy pouch or directly to the face plate instead of indirectly by means of the coupling ring 2.
  • the stoma sheath according to the invention comprises a closed loop portion which in Fig. 10 is the coupling ring 2 and a sheath portion which in Fig. 10 is the membrane 41.
  • the membrane 41 is attached directly to the ostomy pouch or face plate, the closed loop portion would then be the peripheral edge portion of the membrane 41.
  • a closed loop portion in the form of a coupling ring 2 is provided with a stoma sheath portion comprising two mutually superimposed films or membranes 45 and 46 attached to the coupling ring by means of heat seals or adhesive 47 and 48, respectively.
  • Membrane or film 45 is provided with radially extending cuts or slits 49 defining flexible tabs or fingers 50 extending inwards to an aperture 51 for receiving the tip of a stoma.
  • Membrane or film 46 is likewise provided with radially extending cuts or slits 52 defining flexible tabs or fingers 53 extending inwards to an aperture 54 in register with aperture 51.
  • the slits or cuts 49 are interspaced between the slits or cuts 52, such that each tongue or tab 50 overlaps half of each of two adjacent tongues or tabs 53.
  • the tabs 50 and 53 When a stoma is inserted into the apertures 51 and 54 which have a smaller diameter than the stoma, the tabs 50 and 53 will be flexed in the insertion direction of the stoma and abut the sides of the stoma.
  • the slits or cuts 49 and 52 will open, but as the tabs of one membrane cover the cuts of the other membrane, this opening of the cuts 49 and 52 will not entail that stomal fluids can pass by the membranes 45 and 46 and come into contact with the stoma surface except the portion of the stoma surface projecting past the tips of the tongues or tabs 50 and 53.
  • the tabs 50 and 53 will follow the movements of the stoma inwards and outwards, particularly if they have a certain stiffness.
  • the membrane 45 or the membrane 46 or both membranes may be made of elastic foam material so as to have a certain stiffness but be soft enough to not unduly irritate the stoma because of the pressure exerted against the surface thereof by the tabs 50 and 53.
  • the coupling ring 2 may be substituted by a heat seal or adhesive mutual attachment of the peripheral portions of the circular membranes 45 and 46.
  • One membrane may be attached to one of a pair of coupling rings in a two- piece ostomy appliance while the other membrane is attached to the other coupling ring. Both membranes may be attached directly to either the carrier sheet of the face plate or to the ostomy pouch wall or one membrane may be attached to the carrier sheet while the other membrane is attached to the ostomy pouch wall.
  • a circular and square membrane or film, 60 and 61 respectively is attached to the surface of an ostomy pouch wall 62 and 63, respectively.
  • Slits or cuts, 64 and 65, respectively, define triangular tongues or tabs 66 and 67, respectively.
  • the membranes 60 and 61 may alternatively be applied to the carrier sheet on the face plate, and the tabs 70, 71 may be formed in the carrier sheet.
  • the tabs may be formed in the carrier sheet and also in the ostomy pouch wall, such that the tabs of the carrier sheet overlie two adjacent tabs of the ostomy pouch wall and vice versa when the ostomy pouch is attached to the face plate either in a two-piece or a one-piece ostomy appliance.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de stomie comprenant une gaine de stomie (1) conçue pour être disposée entre une plaque avant et un sac de stomie du dispositif et recouvrant, en partie, une stomie lorsque celle-ci est insérée dans la gaine lorsque la plaque avant est reliée à une surface cutanée périostomale. La gaine de stomie comprend une partie en circuit fermé (2) qui peut être un anneau de raccordement permettant de raccorder le sac à la plaque avant, et une première (45) et une seconde (46) partie gaine entourées par ladite partie en circuit, chacune comprenant des languettes ou des doigts (50 et 53), respectivement, chacun s'étendant vers l'intérieur depuis une extrémité fixe reliée ou intégrée à la partie en circuit fermé, jusqu'à une extrémité libre ; de préférence, les languettes sont constituées d'un matériau souple, élastique et/ou plastique, de telle sorte que la stomie puisse courber les languettes loin de la surface de la peau lorsque le dispositif de stomie est relié à ladite surface de la peau. Chacune des languettes (45) de la première partie de gaine recouvre partiellement deux languettes adjacentes (46) de la seconde partie de gaine le long d'au moins une partie de la longueur des languettes depuis l'extrémité fixe vers l'extrémité libre.
