Abstract

La présente invention concerne un silencieux conçu pour être connecté à un port d'échappement d'un moteur à combustion interne. Ce silencieux comprend un boîtier qui présente un orifice d'entrée d'échappement conçu pour recevoir le gaz d'échappement du moteur, au moins une chambre de détente interne, ainsi qu'une ouverture de sortie. Ledit silencieux comprend également un couvercle de diffuseur qui est relié au boîtier au-dessus de l'ouverture d'échappement du boîtier, formant un orifice de sortie d'échappement du silencieux. Le couvercle de diffuseur forme une chambre de piégeage, un étranglement limité et une partie d'éjecteur. La partie d'éjecteur est conçue pour aspirer l'air ambiant à travers un orifice d'entrée d'air, de manière à refroidir le gaz d'échappement lorsqu'il passe à travers la sortie d'échappement. L'étranglement limité est placé en aval de la chambre de piégeage et présente une aire de section transversale inférieure à celle de la chambre de piégeage, de manière à augmenter la vitesse du gaz d'échappement lorsqu'il passe à travers l'étranglement limité et dans la partie d'éjecteur, facilitant ainsi l'aspiration de l'air ambiant.
