Abstract

Cette invention concerne un dispositif de propulsion marine reconfigurable qui offre un rendement et des caractéristiques de propulsion améliorées du fait qu'il s'adapte au couple moteur et/ou à la vitesse du bateau. Le dispositif de propulsion à flux axial comporte deux étages ou plus, chacun doté d'une partie turbine et d'une partie stator. Les aubes du stator et/ou de la chambre de pompage assurent une diffusion du flux qui génère une pression hydrostatique accrue à partir de la pression dynamique fournie par un fluide de travail à grande vitesse qui, compte tenu de la vitesse réduite du fluide et de la pression hydrostatique accrue, diminue les problèmes de cavitation et les pertes par frottements à l'intérieur du dispositif de propulsion. Par ailleurs, la partie stator peut être équipée d'aubes à pas variable qui règlent l'importance de la pression dynamique appliquée au liquide de travail. Toujours en option, des aubes de guidage d'entrée à pas variable commandent l'angle de tourbillon et/ou le débit massique du fluide d'entrée indépendamment de la vitesse du rotor ou du bateau. Un ensemble d'aubes de guidage à pas fixe ou variable en aval de la chambre de pompage régularise le débit et maintient la pression au niveau d'une buse de décharge. Autres options: dispositif de pompage concentrique à double flux qui améliore les caractéristiques de travail aux vitesses lentes à moyenne du bateau, diffuseur d'admission récupérant la pression dynamique dans un conduit d'entrée, et/ou étranglement à surface variable dans la buse de décharge qui règle la vitesse de sortie du jet d'eau en fonction de la vitesse du bateau dans le but de maintenir l'efficacité de propulsion. Pour le commandant du bateau, le système de propulsion à géométrie variable apporte des performances améliorées et un meilleur rendement énergétique sur une vaste plage de vitesses et de charges du bateau, de conditions de navigation, de réglages de la puissance set/ou de points d'équilibre du moteur, avec pour corollaire des vitesses plus élevées du bateau (de 10 à 30 kts) et/ou une autonomie plus grande (de l'ordre de 25-40%) par rapport à des pompes marines à jet classiques (tels que hydrojets centrifuges ou à flux mixte), ce qui est particulièrement utile pour des navires avec installations de fourniture d'énergie de 10 à 100 mégawatts.
