Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé d'utilisation d'un moteur à combustion interne, notamment d'un moteur à pistons alternatifs de véhicule, comportant plusieurs chambres de combustion (3) dans lesquelles un mélange carburant/air est brûlé selon un procédé à plusieurs temps de manière à libérer de l'énergie, des gaz d'échappement produits dans les chambres de combustion (3) étant acheminés vers un dispositif d'épuration de gaz d'échappement. Ledit dispositif d'épuration de gaz d'échappement comporte un catalyseur de réduction, notamment un catalyseur SCR (réduction catalytique sélective) dans lequel des oxydes d'azote sont notamment transformés chimiquement au moyen d'un agent réducteur. Selon ledit procédé, l'alimentation en carburant est suspendue dans un premier jeu de travail d'une chambre de combustion lors du fonctionnement du moteur à combustion interne. Un agent réducteur est ensuite introduit dans ce jeu de travail de la chambre de combustion (3), puis acheminé dans le catalyseur SCR. A cet effet, on prévoit un injecteur (11) destiné à l'agent réducteur, permettant d'injecter l'agent réducteur dans la chambre de combustion (3), le canal d'admission (7) ou le canal d'échappement (8). L'invention concerne également l'utilisation dudit procédé dans des moteurs diesel ou des moteurs à essence à mélange pauvre.
