Abstract

L'invention concerne un système comprenant un cathéter à guidage optique pourvu d'une extrémité proximale, d'une extrémité distale et d'au moins une lumière. Un moyen émetteur de lumière est couplé au cathéter, lequel est inséré dans le patient, et de la lumière est émise sous la forme d'un point ou de points à partir d'un emplacement choisi, habituellement l'extrémité distale, du cathéter auquel il est couplé. Ce système comprend également un dispositif de détection extérieure qui détecte la lumière à projection transdermique émise par le point émetteur de lumière depuis l'intérieur du patient, indiquant ainsi le placement précis du cathéter à l'intérieur du patient.
