Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de formage par enroulage-étirage avec fluage à chaud comprenant les étapes consistant à : chauffer une barre métallique jusqu'à une température de formage comprise dans une plage de températures permettant de déformer ladite barre par fluage; appliquer une force d'étirage à la barre métallique à une vitesse de contrainte ne dépassant pas 0,05 pouce/pouce/seconde; et enrouler ladite barre autour d'une matrice, de préférence ayant une surface de travail à isolation thermique et/ou électrique. La force d'étirage est généralement appliquée à un taux de contrainte allant de 0,5 % à 15,0 %. La barre métallique est idéalement en alliage de titane et sa température de formage est comprise entre 0,45 et 0,60 par rapport à sa température de fusion. La barre métallique enroulée est maintenue en position et sa température est maintenue dans la plage de températures pendant 5 à 120 minutes (généralement) afin de parvenir à une relaxation des contraintes. Ladite barre est de préférence sensiblement maintenue à la température de formage pendant l'intégralité du procédé. Une isolation thermique placée autour de la matrice et de la barre métallique permet de réduire les pertes thermiques subies par la barre.
