Definitions
- the present invention concerns a container for cooking steamed food adapted to be placed on a tank, such as a pot, casserole or similar, containing a boiling liquid.
- Containers are known for cooking steamed foods based on two or more superimposed units, the lowest of which is a steam generating tank, such as a pot, casserole or similar capable of containing a liquid and being subjected to a heat source, to keep the liquid boiling.
- a steam generating tank such as a pot, casserole or similar capable of containing a liquid and being subjected to a heat source, to keep the liquid boiling.
- At least one receptacle for holding food is provided on the steam generator tank provided with a perforated bottom to allow steam to pass from the tank to the receptacle, and a lid is placed on it.
- several receptacles for containing food can be placed stacked on the steam generator tank, each with its perforated bottom, and the lid is placed on the uppermost receptacle.
- each food-containing receptacle is specifically designed for a particular steam generator tank.
- the receptacle for containing food is only operative in conjunction with the steam generator tank for which it has been designed.
- a receptacle for containing food designed to cooperate with a specific steam generator tank would fit with another tank other than the one planned, such as a pot or casserole that is usually found in a kitchen.
- the food-containing receptacle would only work with a tank other than the one provided on condition that it had an upper edge of a specific diameter and configuration.
- a container for cooking steamed food that defines a cooking receptacle adapted to be coupled to a range of steam generating tanks, such as pots, casseroles or the like that are usually found in a kitchen, with respective upper circular edges of A range of diameters and variety different configurations.
- the present invention contributes to satisfying the above and other needs by providing a container for steaming food cooking, of the type comprising a cooking receptacle for containing food defined by a side wall of revolution connected to a perforated bottom that It has a plurality of holes for passage through steam from a reservoir containing a boiling liquid.
- the container of the present invention is characterized in that from said revolution side wall an annular fin terminated radially outwardly extends in a perimeter flange directed axially downwards.
- Said annular flap comprises a lower surface adapted to support the entire perimeter of an upper circular edge of said reservoir. The radial dimension of said lower surface, between the side wall of revolution and said perimeter flange, is sufficient to cover a range of diameters and a variety of different configurations for said upper circular edge of the tank.
- the container for cooking steamed food of the present invention can be operatively coupled to any one of a range of deposits such as pots, casseroles or similar of those usually found in a kitchen, provided that their respective circular edges upper are within a range of different diameters predetermined.
- the upper circular edge of the steam generator tank may have a variety of configurations provided that it has an approximately smooth and uniform upper surface or annular edge, a condition that generally complies with the vast majority of utensils Cooking
- said range of different diameters of the upper edge of the steam generating tank covered by the annular fin of the container in general will not be less than 100-105%, being able to reach 100-115%, or greater.
- a preferred range of diameters is 100-110% of the outer diameter of the revolution side wall of the container.
- the perimeter flange existing at the end of the annular fin of the container ensures that the upper edge of the steam generating tank, whatever its diameter within the predetermined range, is completely covered by the annular fin of the container.
- the container for cooking steamed foods of the present invention is adapted to be stacked with other similar or identical containers.
- an annular wall emerges axially from an opening of the cooking receptacle adapted to fit into a groove formed in a lower area of the container, allowing the functional stacking of at least two similar containers.
- a cover adapted to be disposed on the cooking receptacle, or on the upper cooking receptacle when several of them are stacked, is included to close it.
- the container for cooking steamed food of the present invention can be made by any technique and using any material commonly used to make cooking containers, although it is preferred that the container is a molded single piece body of a synthetic, flexible material or semi-rigid
- the lid if any, will preferably be of the same material as the container.
- a semi-rigid synthetic material a thermoplastic is suitable.
- the container be made of a flexible synthetic material, more specifically, platinum catalyzed silicone.
- an advantage of the container made as a single-piece silicone body is that, since it is the flexible annular fin, it tends to rest evenly on the entire upper surface or edge of the edge - A - circular mouthpiece of the steam generator tank, providing, in cooperation with the weight of the container and the food contained therein, a substantially tight seal provided that the vapor pressure inside the tank is below a threshold.
- the flexible silicone material also ensures a substantially tight seal between the lid and the container, provided that the vapor pressure inside the container is below a threshold.
- platinum catalyzed silicone has been revealed as a highly hygienic and versatile material, resistant to heat and cold, increasingly used for the manufacture of kitchen utensils.
- the container when the container is made of a rigid or semi-rigid material, it is provided that the lower surface of the annular fin is covered with a layer of a flexible material, such as platinum-catalyzed silicone, to obtain the advantage of a substantially closed closure. sealed with the upper edge of the steam generator tank, in a manner analogous to that described above.
- a flexible material such as platinum-catalyzed silicone
- the terms “radial”, “axial” and their derivatives refer substantially to the directions parallel to the imaginary axis of said side wall of revolution of the vessel and to the direction of any of its radii, respectively.
- the term “flexible” refers to the property of that material that is easily bent or deformed by the application of a force.
- the term “rigid” refers to the property of that material that is ideally non-deformable by the application of a force before its breakage.
- the term “semi-rigid” refers to the property of that material that, without being very easily flexible, is far from the completely rigid ideal.
- semi-rigid is commonly used in the technique of plastic materials.
