図 1は、本発明に係る排気温度センサの異常検出装置を備えた排気浄ィ匕装置の全 体構成を示す。この排気浄化装置は、還元剤の前駆体たる尿素水溶液を使用して エンジン排気中の NOxを還元反応により浄ィ匕する。
エンジン 10の排気マ-フォールド 12に接続された排気管 14には、排気流通方向 に沿って、一酸ィ匕窒素 (NO)を二酸ィ匕窒素 (NO )へと酸化させる窒素酸化触媒 16

と、尿素水溶液を噴射供給する噴射ノズル 18と、尿素水溶液を加水分解して得られ るアンモニアを使用して NOxを還元浄ィ匕する NOx還元触媒 20と、 NOx還元触媒 2 0を通過したアンモニアを酸ィ匕させるアンモニア酸ィ匕触媒 22と、が夫々配設される。
[0012] 一方、尿素水溶液を貯蔵する還元剤タンク 24は、その底部で吸込口が開口するサ クシヨンホース 26を介して、尿素水溶液を吸 、込んで圧送するポンプモジュール 28 に連通接続される。また、ポンプモジュール 28は、プレツシャホース 30を介して、少 なくとも遠隔操作可能な流量制御弁が内蔵された添加モジュール 32に連通接続さ れる。添加モジュール 32は、添加ホース 34を介して、噴射ノズル 18に連通接続され る。ポンプモジュール 28及び添カ卩モジュール 32は、コンピュータを内蔵した還元剤 添加コントロールユニット(以下「還元剤添加 ECU」 t 、う) 36により夫々電子制御さ れる。そして、尿素水溶液が、排気温度センサ 38が検出した排気温度 (以下「検出温 度」という) Taやその他のエンジン運転状態に適合した量だけ、噴射ノズル 18から噴 射供給される。その他のエンジン運転状態としては、例えば、エンジン回転速度セン サ 40が検出するエンジンの回転速度 Neや、エンジン負荷センサ 42が検出する燃料 噴射量、吸気流量、吸気負圧、要求トルク、過給圧などのエンジン負荷 Qなどを適用 することができる。
[0013] カゝかる排気浄ィ匕装置において、噴射ノズル 18から噴射供給された尿素水溶液は、 排気熱及び排気中の水蒸気により加水分解され、還元剤として機能するアンモニア へと転化される。転ィ匕されたアンモニアは、 NOx還元触媒 20において排気中の NO Xと還元反応し、水 (H O)及び窒素 (N )へと転ィ匕されることは知られたことである。こ

のとき、 NOx還元触媒 20による NOx浄ィ匕能力を向上させるベぐ窒素酸化触媒 16 により NOが NOへと酸化され、排気中の NOと NOとの割合が還元反応に適したも

のに改善される。一方、 NOx還元触媒 20を通過したアンモニアは、その排気下流に 配設されたアンモニア酸ィ匕触媒 22により酸ィ匕されるので、アンモニアがそのまま大気 中に排出されることがない。
[0014] ここで、本実施形態に係る異常検出装置は、還元剤添加 ECU36、エンジン回転速 度センサ 40、エンジン負荷センサ 42及び警報装置 44を含んで構成される。還元剤 添加 ECU36は、このような各センサからの出力信号を受信して、その ROM (Read O nly Memory)などに記憶された制御プログラムを実行し、排気温度推定処理、過渡状 態判定処理、異常判定処理、キャンセル処理及び警報処理を行う。そして、還元剤 添加 ECU36は、エンジン運転状態に応じた排気の温度マップ力も排気温度 Tcを推 定演算し、この推定した排気温度 (以下「推定温度」という) Tcの変化と、検出温度 Ta の変化とを比較することで、排気温度センサ 38の異常を検出する。排気の温度マツ プは、様々な環境下でエンジンをテストして得られた排気温度データを集積したもの である。また、還元剤添加 ECU36は、排気温度センサ 38の異常を検出すると、その 旨を報知すベぐ警告灯、ブザーなどの警報装置 44を作動させる。なお、制御プログ ラムは、還元剤添加 ECU36で実行するのではなぐ制御プログラム専用のコントロー ノレユニットや、エンジンコントローノレユニット、その他の車載コントローノレユニットで実 行するようにしてちょい。
[0015] 次に、本発明の一実施形態に係る異常検出装置による異常検出動作を図 2のフロ 一チャートを参照して説明する。
ステップ 1 (図 2では「S1」と略記する。以下同様)では、エンジン 10の始動後、タイ マが計時する時間が所定時間 T1 (第 1所定時間)を経過するまで待機する。
ステップ 2では、検出温度 Taを検出温度初期値 Taに設定すると共に、推定温度 T cを推定温度初期値 Tcに設定する。また、検出温度初期値 Taを中心とした所定範 囲 (所定温度幅)を画定する下限閾値 Taと上限閾値 Ta とを設定する。同様に、推 定温度初期値 Tcを中心とした所定範囲を画定する下限閾値 Tc と上限閾値 Tc とを設定する。本実施形態では、下限閾値 Tc 〜上限閾値 Tc は、下限閾値 Ta
〜上限閾値 Taよりも大きく設定してある。また、初期値 Ta、 Tcから下限閾値 Ta 、
Tc までの下限温度幅と初期値 Ta 、 Tc力ゝら上限閾値 Ta 、 Tc までの上限温度 幅とは、それぞれ異ならせることもできる。
[0016] ステップ 3では、検出温度 Ta力 下限閾値 Ta以上且つ上限閾値 Ta以下である か否かを判定する。即ち、検出温度 Taが、上下閾値範囲内であるか否かを判定する 。そして、検出温度 Ta力 上下閾値範囲内(Ta ≤Ta≤Ta )であれば、ステップ 4へ と進む (Yes)。一方、検出温度 Ta力 上下閾値範囲外 (Ta>Ta、又は、 Ta<Ta ) であれば、排気温度センサ 38は正常に作動していると考えられるので、ステップ 10 へと進む(No)。
[0017] ステップ 4では、排気温度センサ 38が出力する全温度域での異常判定を可能にす るため、後述する異常判定を開始するトリガーとして、推定温度 Tcが、上限閾値 Tc を上回るか又は下限閾値 Tc を下回った力否かを判定する。即ち、推定温度 Tcが
、上下閾値範囲外である力否かを判定する。そして、推定温度 Tcが、上下閾値範囲 外 (Tc >Tc 、又は、 Tcく Tc )であれば、排気温度が変化する過渡状態にあると 判定されステップ 5へと進む (Yes)。一方、推定温度 Tcが、上下閾値範囲内 (Tc しし
≤Tc≤Tc )であれば、ステップ 3へと戻る(No)。なお、推定温度 Tcの変化率を、 上記と同様に、後述する異常判定を開始するトリガーとすることもできる。例えば、推 定温度 Tcの変化率が所定率以上であれば、排気温度が変化する過渡状態にあると 判定されて、ステップ 5へと進むフローであってもよ!/、。

なお、所定時間 T2は、推定温度 Tcの変化に遅れて検出温度 Taが変化する場合 を考慮した時間幅である。これにより、異常検出精度がさらに向上する。

[0023] ステップ 12では、排気温度センサ 38の異常を確定し、異常検出したことを報知する ために警報装置 44を作動させる。これを受けた警報装置 44は、警報音を発したり、 警告ランプを発する。これにより、異常を知らしめることができ、適当な措置を講ずるこ とができるようになる。
以上のように、排気温度センサ 38の異常は、推定温度 Tcの変化特性と検出温度 T aの変化特性とが相関関係にあることに基づいて検出される。これは、図 3から確認で きるように、推定温度 Tcが変化すれば検出温度 Taも変化することを基本原理として いる。図 3に示したように、検出温度 Taは、排気温度センサ 38が正常であるときには 、推定温度 Tcの変化に伴って変化する。即ち、検出温度 Taは、推定温度 Tcの変化 と相関を持って変化する。一方、検出温度 Taは、排気温度センサ 38が異常であると きには、推定温度 Tcが変化しても変化しない(図中 A点以降)。このように、排気温度 センサ 38の異常は、推定温度 Tcの変化に応じて検出温度 Taが変化しなければ異 常であると検出する。従って、本発明では、センサショートや断線などの異常の他、例 えば、検出温度 Ta力 ある温度まで上昇して変化していた力 何らかの原因によって ある温度力も変動せずに一定値に固着するような異常をも検出することができる。こ のため、本発明では、排気温度センサ 38が検出可能な全温度域での異常を検出す ることがでさる。
なお、以上では、本発明の一実施形態として、排気浄化装置に適用した排気温度 センサの異常検出装置を説明した力 これを DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)などに 適用することちできる。

[1] エンジンの排気温度を検出する排気温度センサと、
コンピュータを内蔵したコントロールユニットと、
を含んで構成され、
前記コントローノレユニットが、
エンジン運転状態に応じた排気温度を推定する排気温度推定処理と、 排気温度が変化する過渡状態にあるか否かを判定する過渡状態判定処理と、 前記過渡状態判定処理により過渡状態にあると判定したときに、前記排気温度推 定処理により推定した排気温度の変化特性と前記排気温度センサにより検出された 排気温度の変化特性との相関関係に基づいて、該排気温度センサに異常が発生し て!、る力否かを判定する異常判定処理と、
を実行することを特徴とする排気温度センサの異常検出装置。
[2] 前記過渡状態判定処理は、前記排気温度推定処理により推定された排気温度が、 第 1所定時間内に所定温度変化したときに、排気温度が変化する過渡状態にあると 判定することを特徴とする請求項 1記載の排気温度センサの異常検出装置。
[3] 前記過渡状態判定処理は、前記排気温度推定処理により推定された排気温度の 変化率が所定率以上であるときに、排気温度が変化する過渡状態にあると判定する ことを特徴とする請求項 1記載の排気温度センサの異常検出装置。
[4] 前記異常判定処理は、前記排気温度センサにより検出された排気温度の変化特 性と前記排気温度推定処理により推定された排気温度の変化特性とが相似していな いときに、該排気温度センサに異常が発生していると判定することを特徴とする請求 項 1記載の排気温度センサの異常検出装置。
[5] 前記排気温度センサにより検出された排気温度の変化特性は、前記過渡状態判 定処理により過渡状態にあると判定された後の第 2所定時間における変化特性であ ることを特徴とする請求項 1記載の排気温度センサの異常検出装置。
[6] 前記コントロールユニットは、前記第 2所定時間内に、前記排気温度推定処理によ り推定した排気温度の変化が、前記過渡状態にある力否かの判定を開始したときの 温度を中心とした所定範囲内であれば、前記排気温度センサに異常が発生している か否かの判定をキャンセルするキャンセル処理をさらに実行することを特徴とする請 求項 5記載の排気温度センサの異常検出装置。
[7] 前記異常判定処理は、前記排気温度センサに異常が発生しているとの判定を所定 回数連続して行ったときに、前記排気温度センサの異常を確定することを特徴とする 請求項 1記載の排気温度センサの異常検出装置。
[8] 前記コントロールユニットは、前記異常判定処理によって前記排気温度センサに異 常が発生していると判定したときに、警報装置を作動させる警報処理をさらに実行す ることを特徴とする請求項 1記載の排気温度センサの異常検出装置。
[9] コンピュータを内蔵したコントロールユニットが、エンジン運転状態に応じた排気温 度を推定し、該推定した排気温度を用いて排気温度が変化する過渡状態にあるか 否かを判定し、該判定において過渡状態にあるとしたときに、推定した排気温度の変 化特性と排気温度センサが検出した排気温度の変化特性との相関関係に基づいて 、該排気温度センサに異常が発生しているか否かを判定することを特徴とする排気 温度センサの異常検出方法。
