Definitions

  • Apparatus and injector for folding an intraocular lens Cartridge and injector
  • the invention relates to a device for folding an intraocular lens, comprising two hinged, practically mirror-symmetrical half-shells which can be moved relative to each other from an open position to a closed position to fold the intraocular lens, wherein in the closed position the half-shells form a cavity for receiving the intraocular lens in an injection-ready position.

  • cartridges To insert an intraocular lens, cartridges have been developed in recent years in which a lens can be loaded and then ejected from the cartridge by means of an injector. Examples of such cartridges and injectors are known from US Pat. Nos. 4,681,102, 5,582,614, 5,947,975 and US 2004/0199174.

Namely, it is proposed to make the grooves less deep against the nozzle so as to facilitate their transport into the nozzle (Figs. 34, 39, 40 and 41). Because cartridges with grooves for detecting the lens edges did not satisfy folding, US 204/0199174 proposes a cartridge which also has two half-shells in a conventional manner. In addition, however, a band is provided which leads from one half-shell to the other half-shell. As a result, a space is formed between a belt loop and the half shells. The lens can then be inserted into this space. This has the advantage that the lens is held securely when folding. Abstract
