Abstract

L'invention concerne une plaque polarisante dans laquelle au moins un premier film protecteur, un film polarisant, un second film protecteur fait d'un polymère thermoplastique contenant une résine de cyclooléfine, une couche de différence de phase dans laquelle l'orientation du cristal liquide en bâtonnet orienté sensiblement verticalement par rapport à la surface du second film protecteur est stable, sont agencés dans cet ordre. La plaque polarisante est caractérisée par le fait que les Ro et Rt du second film protecteur et ceux de la couche de différence de phase, à une température de 23°C dans un environnement à 55 % d'humidité relative dans le cas de la longueur d'onde de 590 nm, sont spécifiés de telle sorte que le second film protecteur a Ro = 30 à 115 nm ; Rt = 100 à 250 nm ; et Rt/Ro = 1,6 à 4,4 et que la couche de différence de phase a Ro = 0 à 10 nm ; et Rt = -100 à -400 nm, et que la caractéristique de dispersion de longueur d'onde, exprimée par la formule 1 ci-après de la structure multicouche du second film protecteur et de la couche de différence de phase est de 2,0 à 6,5 nm. Formule 1 : D(R40) = R40(630) - R40(480) (où R40 représente la valeur de retard mesurée par l'inclinaison de l'échantillon à 40° autour de l'axe de rotation qui est l'axe lent parallèle à la surface de l'échantillon).
