Abstract

スパークプラグ（１００）がエンジンヘッド（７０）に固定された際に、エンジンヘッドの内壁面から燃焼室内へ向けて突出する筒部（６０）を備えたスパークプラグにおいて、筒部（６０）の外周面に、貫通孔又は切り欠きからなる１つ以上の通気部（６１）を設けた。発火部を燃焼室内に突出させたことにより、着火性が向上すると共に、内燃機関の吸気口から流入する混合気が通気部（６１）を通って筒部（６０）の内側へ入り込み、絶縁碍子（１０）の熱を奪って冷却するため、プレイグニッションの発生が抑制される。
