Abstract

携帯情報端末は、複数の電極を有する薄膜からなり、各電極の静電容量を検出する静電容量センサ30の出力に基づいて、ユーザの操作位置を検出する操作位置検出部37と、操作位置検出部の出力に基づいて操作位置の移動を検知し、方向入力信号を生成する方向入力制御部31と、操作キーの押圧面に対するユーザの押圧操作を検出し、キー入力信号を生成するキー入力部32と、表示画面を有するディスプレイ22と、方向入力信号に基づいて表示画面内における画像情報の表示位置を制御する表示制御部34を有する。静電容量センサ30の薄膜の一部は操作キーの押圧面の少なくとも一部に重複させて形成され、方向入力制御部31は操作位置の移動を検知した際に、その移動開始時の操作位置に基づいて方向入力信号を生成するか否かを判別する。静電パッドに重複して配置された操作キーを操作する際に画面表示の移動のための方向入力が誤って行われるのを抑制できる。
