Abstract

光学効率の低下を防止するとともに、照明領域の輝度を高めることができる光源装置およびプロジェクタを提供する。照明光を出射する第１および第２の光源手段（１１，１２）と、第１および第２の光源手段（１１，１２）のいずれかから出射された照明光を選択するとともに、選択された照明光を導光する少なくとも第１の光路（Ｌ１）または第２の光路（Ｌ２）を形成する光選択手段（２１）と、第１および第２の光源手段（１１，１２）のそれぞれの発光を制御する制御手段（３１）と、を有し、制御手段（３１）は、少なくとも、第１の光路（Ｌ１）と第２の光路（Ｌ２）とが切り替わる遷移期間に、第１および第２の光源手段（１１，１２）を消灯し、第１の光路（Ｌ１）が形成されている期間内に、第１の光源手段（１１）を発光させ、第２の光路（Ｌ２）が形成されている期間内に、第２の光源手段（１２）を発光させることを特徴とする。
