Abstract

　本発明は、パラ百日咳菌の全菌体、全菌体の破砕物または菌体可溶化物を免疫原として含有する、パラ百日咳菌由来百日咳予防用全菌体細菌ワクチン組成物および、その製造方法を提供することを課題とする。 　本発明者らは、上記の課題を解決するために、まず、パラ百日咳菌を37°C、３日間の条件で培養した後、菌体濃度を 1010 cells/mLに調整し、ホルムアルデヒド溶液をホルマリンの最終濃度が 0.2%となるように添加して不活化した。この菌体を、菌体濃度換算で 1010 cells/mLとなるように滅菌リン酸緩衝生理食塩水を加えて調整し、ワクチン組成物を得た。本発明のワクチン組成物をマウス（3.5週齢）に接種し、パラ百日咳菌懸濁液を感染させた結果、パラ百日咳菌に対する感染防御活性を有し、さらに通常の百日咳ワクチン接種量の1/30量でも感染防御活性を示すことが明らかとなった。
