Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Aufkohlung von Werkstücken aus Stahl, insbesondere von Werkstücken mit außen- und innenliegenden Oberflächen, wobei das Werkstück bei einer Temperatur im Bereich von 850 bis 1050°C in einer gasförmigen Kohlenwasserstoff enthaltenden Atmosphäre gehalten wird. Es werden mindestens zwei unterschiedliche gasförmige Kohlenwasserstoffe eingesetzt und/oder das Werkstück wird alternierend während eines Aufkohlungspulses (13) in der den gasförmigen Kohlenwasserstoff enthaltenden Atmosphäre und während eine Diffusionsphase (15, 17) in einer Atmosphäre, die frei von Kohlenwasserstoff ist, gehalten. Weiterhin betrifft die Erfindung eine Verwendung des Verfahrens.
