Abstract
本発明は、車両の交差点進入時の信号機の状態を高精度に予測する運転支援装置及び運転支援方法を提供することを課題とする。車両の交差点進入時の信号機の状態を予測する運転支援装置であって、車両の交差点手前での車速の変化を予測する車速変化予測手段と、車速変化予測手段で予測した車速の変化に基づいて交差点進入時の信号機の状態を予測する信号機状態予測手段とを備えることを特徴とし、車速変化予測手段は、記憶手段に記憶されている運転者の過去の交差点手前での車速変化に関する特性と走行環境とを対応付けた情報に基づいて車速の変化を予測したり、あるいは、車両の位置が交差点手前に設定される所定領域の手前に存在する場合と存在しない場合とで車速変化の予測方法を変える。
