Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication économique d'un matériau Cr2AlC fritté usinable et, en particulier, un procédé de préparation d'un matériau Cr2AlC fritté. Le procédé consiste (a) à préparer une poudre de carbure de chrome comprenant une phase cristalline de Cr7C3 and Cr3C2 de 95% ou plus en volume par réduction d'une poudre de Cr2O3 de faible coût avec une poudre d'une source de carbone, et (b) à presser à chaud un mélange en poudre fait du carbure de chrome et d'une poudre d'Al. Dans la présente invention, le Cr2O3 de faible coût est utilisé comme matière première, réduisant ainsi de manière remarquable le coût de fabrication par rapport à un procédé classique. De plus, le matériau Cr2AlC fritté préparé selon la présente invention est semblable ou même amélioré par rapport au matériau Cr2AlC fabriqué selon un procédé classique du point de vue de ses propriétés thermiques, mécaniques et électriques et de son usinabilité, et permet ainsi d'élargir les applications du matériau Cr2AlC fritté comme matériau structurel utilisé dans l'industrie.
