Definitions

  • the invention is related to mechanical power trains that contain two spinning axles that have a continuous variability of speed ratio between them.
  • this transmission is found within the family of continuously variable transmissions that: initially, transform the mechanical energy of rotation from the input axis into another type of energy, for example hydraulic or electric. Then, this type of energy is manipulated to obtain the desired variation in the transmission ratio. Finally, this energy is transformed back into mechanical rotational energy at the output axis. This is aimed to obtain the control of the speed at the output shaft or, specifically, the speed ratio between the output and the input shafts of the transmission.
  • Existing solutions are composed by a set of two machines that are energetically interconnected via a channel E.

Therefore, energy is taken at the input shaft of one machine, converted to another type of energy using a stator, transferred to the stator of the other machine using the channel E, and finally delivered as rotational energy using an output shaft.
