Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a universal security lock.
  • Background art The advancement of locks is tightly linked to the advancement of methods for picking them.
  • New types of security lock comprise suitable plungers which exit from the front of the lock: when the plunger is in the extracted configuration (which corresponds to the open door), the latch can be drawn back (made to retract into the respective seat of the lock) simply by pressing it to force the spring that keeps it protruding; when instead the plunger is in the retracted configuration (accommodated within the lock, because the door is closed and its end rests against the front of the selvage that faces the edge of the lock and lies proximate to it), the latch is blocked and cannot be retracted by pressing it.
  • the only way to release the latch in this condition in which the plunger is retracted) is to act on the handle or (in cases in which the lock is provided with) on the key.
  • This type of lock can also be used in the case of a single-leaf door provided with an antipanic handle (or panic bar). From the outside, release of the latch would be possible only by means of the key, while from the inside, by acting on the handle (or on the panic bar) it is always possible to retract the latch.
  • an antipanic handle or panic bar
  • This type of lock therefore allows a high level of protection against break-in actions and at the same time can be installed on single-leaf doors for emergency exits with associated antipanic handles (and/or panic bars).
