Definitions
- the present invention relates to a power supply control circuit, a power supply device, a power supply system, and a control method for the power supply control device.
- a non-insulated DC-DC converter step-down circuit having an input power source, an input capacitor, a smoothing inductor, a smoothing capacitor, a load, a Hi Side FET, a Lo Side FET, and an inverter ( Switching control method) is used.
- This non-insulated DC-DC converter step-down circuit turns the input current ON / OFF by the switching control signal (Hi Dr or Lo Dr) output from the Hi driver or Lo driver. Averages the current and outputs it.
- the input power source is a power source that supplies power to the above-described non-insulated DC-DC converter step-down circuit
- the input capacitor is a capacitor that stores and releases electrical energy supplied by the input power source.
- the smoothing inductor is an inductor used for noise suppression, rectification, and smoothing in the above-mentioned non-insulated DC-DC converter step-down circuit.
- the smoothing capacitor charges electricity when the voltage is high
- the inductor has the function of smoothing the voltage by discharging when the voltage is low, that is, reducing the voltage fluctuation (ripple voltage).
- a protection circuit shown in FIG. 28 is used as a method for protecting the entire circuit when a short circuit occurs.
- this protection circuit when the current sense resistor Rsense1 is used to detect excess current flowing from the input side of the power supply, it is determined that the “Hi Side FET” is short-circuited, and “Breaker FET1” is opened. Implement a process to isolate the fault location.
- the protection circuit when an excess current flowing from the output side of the power supply is detected using the current sense resistor Rsense2, it is determined that the “Lo Side FET” is short-circuited and “Breaker FET2” is opened. In this way, the process of separating the fault location is implemented.
- this protection circuit detects a minute voltage generated by the current sense resistor Rsense1, amplifies it by the amplifier AMP1, and performs a filtering in which a temporary peak is ignored by the delay circuit DELAY1, and a reference voltage. Compare using COMP1. Then, if the voltage obtained by performing the filtering is larger than the reference voltage, the protection circuit detects a short circuit failure of “Hi Side FET”.
- the protection circuit detects a minute voltage generated by the current sense resistor Rsense2, amplifies it by the amplifier AMP2, performs a filtering for ignoring a temporary peak by the delay circuit DELAY2, and the reference voltage COMP2 If the voltage obtained by filtering is larger than the reference voltage as a result of comparison using, “Lo Side FET” short circuit failure is detected.
- the above-described conventional technique has a problem that it cannot accurately detect a short-circuit failure.
- the above protection circuit when the power is turned on under a condition where the capacity of the output capacitor is large, or when the load suddenly changes from a light load to a heavy load, an excessive current is generated even in a normal state. There was something to do. Further, when the power is turned on under the condition that the voltage remains at the output, or when the load is suddenly changed from a heavy load to a light load, a reverse current may be generated even in a normal state.
- the conventional protection circuit when reverse current due to excess current occurs, it cannot be determined whether or not reverse current due to failure occurs. Therefore, the reverse current due to excess current generated in the normal state described above. Was also considered a failure.
- a comparator is used for comparison with the reference voltage.
- the reference voltage is increased by several tens of percent to increase the threshold margin. Time for filtering by the delay circuit DELAY. For this reason, it takes a long time to detect the failure, open the “Breaker FET” and isolate the failure portion, the power supply input voltage is lowered, and the voltage of the entire device is also lowered. That is, there is a possibility that the short circuit failure may spread and the entire apparatus may stop.
- the current sense resistor Rsense1 (or current sense resistor Rsense2) voltage effect is very small or does not occur, so that the impedance failure cannot be detected.
- the impedance failure indicates a state where the short circuit state in the FEC is not complete and the FET fails with a certain resistance value, in other words, a halfway failure between the short circuit failure and the open failure.
- the present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems of the prior art, and controls a power supply control circuit, a power supply device, a power supply system, and a power supply control device that can accurately detect a short-circuit failure. It aims to provide a method.

- a second switching circuit for switching the current flowing out to the power supply circuit, and a second current for blocking the current flowing from the reference node based on the cut-off control signal whose output terminal is connected to the load and inputted to the control terminal.
- the first switching control signal When the first switching control signal is on when the voltage of the reference node is lower than the first reference voltage as a result of comparing the cutoff circuit and the voltage of the reference node with the first reference voltage Or when the voltage of the reference node is higher than the second reference voltage as a result of comparing the voltage of the reference node and the second reference voltage, and the second switching control signal is on. - the failure determination is performed by detecting the reference voltage (VD) instead of the method of detecting the failure by detecting the current, it can be detected by AND logic between the switching control signal and the impedance failure. Specifically, by detecting the reference voltage (VD) applied between “Hi Side FET” 15 and “Lo Side FET” 16 and taking AND logic with the switching control signal, If it does not match the expected logic, it is detected that a failure has occurred. Therefore, even when there is an impedance failure at which VD is a halfway voltage different from the original, it can be logically identified as abnormal, so that the impedance failure time can be detected and heat generation burnout can be prevented.
- VD reference voltage
- the current sense resistor (Rsense) can be eliminated.
- the current sense resistor (Rsense) since it is not necessary to detect the current for failure determination, the current sense resistor (Rsense), amplifier (AMP), and DELAY (peak filter) can be eliminated, so the entire protection circuit (power control circuit) The number of parts can be reduced, and the mounting area and cost can be improved.
