  • the wheels of the combined wheel assembly are linked by gears or other connection means so that turning of the wheels is synchronised.

  • the releasing means is in the form of a clip which can be moved by the user from a retracted position to an extended position to release the wheel.

  • locking means are provided to lock together the wheel assemblies, typically via the tubular members, the locking means being adaptable between an engaged configuration and a disengaged configuration.
  • the locking means includes a member which mates with a component of the wheel assemblies to prevent disengagement of the same.
  • the wheel assemblies are drawn together as the locking means are engaged. This helps take up any tolerance in the fit between the wheel assemblies, thereby reducing wobble.
  • the locking means includes arm members extending substantially around the outside perimeter of the tubular member. Typically the arms are flexible.
  • the locking means are provided with retaining means to retain the locking means to the tubular member when moved to the disengaged position.
  • retaining means are extensions of the arm members .

  • the protrusion is sloped on one side such that inserting the end of a first tubular member into the opposed end of a second tubular member forces the locking means into the disengaged position until the protrusion can locate into the recess of the inner end.
  • the locking means can only be disengaged by user actuation thereof.
  • locking means operates with tubular members, it could also operate with members of other shapes provided with suitable apertures and/or recesses .
  • the hand propelled load carrying vehicles cannot be connected unless the brakes are engaged.
  • the braking means includes a portion which extends into an aperture in the tubular member to prevent insertion of a further tubular member thereinto when in the raised position, and is outside the aperture when in the lowered position to allow said insertion.
  • the braking means act in concert.
  • At least one wheel assembly is provided with suspension means.
  • the suspension means act in concert when the wheel assemblies are locked together.
  • the hand propelled load carrying vehicle is provided with two spaced apart side frames with load supporting means therebetween.
  • each side frame includes a front wheel assembly, a rear wheel assembly, and a handle portion.
  • one side frame includes front and rear wheel assemblies.
  • the other side frame is provided with normal wheels at the front and rear thereof.
  • the normal wheels can be detached and replaced with wheel assemblies .
  • a pushchair can be provided in which one side can be connected to the corresponding side of a further pushchair, and/or adapted to allow such connection on both sides thereof.
  • the hand propelled load carrying vehicle is provided with four wheel assemblies to support the vehicle at each corner thereof.
  • tubular members are located on the front wheel assembly, rear wheel assembly, and handle portion of the hand propelled load carrying vehicle.
  • a hand propelled load carrying vehicle comprising: at least one wheel assembly including one or more wheels; one or more tubular members, one end of which is shaped to fit into the other end thereof of an adjacent tubular member; locking means to releasably lock together the tubular members, characterised in that the longitudinal axes of the tubular members are substantially parallel to the rotational axes of the wheels.
  • the tubular members of one vehicle are aligned and fit into those of the other vehicle.
  • the vehicles are then releasably locked together by the locking means.
  • a method of connecting together two or more hand propelled load carrying vehicles comprising the steps of: lining up the vehicles side by side; adapting each opposed wheel assembly to a receptive configuration by releasing the outermost wheel therefrom; moving the vehicles together such that the tubular members of one vehicle are inserted into the tubular members of the other vehicle; characterised in that the tubular members are provided with locking means which are engaged by said insertion to prevent disconnection of the vehicles.
  • locking means lock together at least the opposed wheel assemblies.
  • braking means are engaged to allow insertion of the tubular members.
  • the vehicles can be disconnected by actuating the locking means to disengage the same and pulling apart the vehicles.
  • the vehicles can be connected or disconnected together while standing, without the requirement to lay the vehicles on their sides or upside down.

  • FIG. 2a With reference to Figure 2a there is illustrated the left rear wheel assembly 10 of a first vehicle lined up with the right rear wheel assembly 10' of a second vehicle, as viewed from behind.
  • Each wheel assembly includes an inner wheel 14, 14' and an outer wheel 16, 16' which are mounted on spindles in the wheel assembly.
  • the assemblies also include braking means in the form of pedals 24, 24' which are illustrated in a raised disengaged position to allow free movement of the wheels.
  • the wheels can be individually released from the wheel assemblies by pulling on the corresponding releasing means in the form of clips 18, 18', 20, 20' although it will be appreciated that other arrangements could be used.
  • the brake pedals 24, 24' are pivotally mounted at point 28', and include a portion 26' that can be inserted into an aperture 30' in the tubular member 22'.
  • the portion 26' is raised out of the aperture 30', thereby allowing insertion of the end of one of the tubular members 22 into end of the other tubular member 22'.
  • the brake pedals when the brake pedals are lowered, the two wheel assemblies can be pushed together, the tubular portions 22, 22' fitting together as described above.
  • the pedals 24, 24' are also provided with protrusions 32, 32' an corresponding recesses 34, 34' such that the opposed protrusion 32 and recess 34' fit together for additional stability when the two wheel assemblies are pushed together.
  • locking means in the form of clips 36, 36' are provided to lock together the tubular members 22, 22'.
  • the clip 36' is provided with a protrusion extending into the tubular member 22' on which it is mounted via an aperture.
  • the protrusion is sloped such that it rides over the second tubular member 22 as it is pushed into the first tubular member 22'.
  • the second tubular member 22 is provided with an aperture 38 for locating the protrusion once the second tubular member has been pushed far enough into the first tubular member 22', thereby locking together the tubular members 22, 22'.
  • the user can pull on the ring-shaped gripping member to disengage the protrusion from the recess 38 and allow the two wheel assemblies to be pulled apart.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates a partial exploded view of a wheel assembly in which the clip 36' is more visible.
  • the clip 36' includes arm members 44' which extend around the tubular member 22' and flex such that pulling on the same via the ring 42' lifts the protrusion 40' out of the aperture 38'.
  • the clip is provided with retaining means in the form of extensions 46' to prevent the clip from being removed from the tubular member completely.
  • the spindles 48, 48' are mounted on spindle blocks, each of which is provided with a recess 50, 50'.
  • the recess 50 is engaged by a corresponding protrusion 52 which extends from the corresponding clip 20'.
  • the protrusion 52 is pulled out of the recess 50 and the wheel 16 is released.
  • the outer wheels are released and the end of one tubular portion 122 is pushed into the other 122' to connect the assemblies .
  • the protrusion 138' of clip 142' is forced out of its aperture 138' until it can locate in the aperture 138 in the end of the inner- tubular portion, thereby locking the tubular portions together.
  • the front wheel assemblies are provided with suspension means 154, 154' which act in concert when the assemblies are locked together.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne une poussette (2) comprenant au moins un ensemble de roues (8, 8', 10, 10') comprenant deux roues ou plus (14, 14', 16, 16', 116, 116'), une roue (14, 14') pouvant être dégagée de l'ensemble pour permettre la réception d'une poussette supplémentaire par le biais de l'ensemble de roues correspondant dans un état de réception identique, ce qui relie les poussettes entre elles.
