Definitions
- the embodiments of the present invention relate to the field of communications technologies, and in particular, to a location reporting method, device, and system. Background technique
- 3GPP 3rd Generation Partnership Project
- LTE Long Term Evolution
- GPRS General Packet Radio Service
- UMTS Universal Mobile Telecommunications System
- EPS Evolved Packet System
- the structure of the core network of the existing wireless evolved network mainly includes: Mobility Management Entity (MME), Serving Gateway (S-GW), Packet Data Network (Packet Data Network) Gateway; Abbreviation: PDN-GW) Three logical functions.
- MME Mobility Management Entity
- S-GW Serving Gateway
- Packet Data Network Packet Data Network
- PDN-GW Packet Data Network
- the MME is responsible for the non-access layer (NAS) signaling and NAS signaling encryption, roaming, and tracking functions.
- the function corresponds to the control plane part of the Servicing GPRS Support Node (SGSN) in the current UMTS system.
- the S-GW is responsible for local mobility anchors, mobility anchors within the 3GPP system, and lawful interception related information; the PDN-GW is responsible for policy enforcement, accounting, and lawful interception related functions.
- the communication model of the above wireless evolution network is currently mainly applied to human to human (Human to Human; abbreviation: H2H) Communication system, in the H2H communication system, the method of location reporting is: when the user equipment establishes a bearer, the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) formulates policy control. With Billing (Policy Control and Charging; PCC), the PCC includes subscription events for location change reporting.
- the gateway for example, the GGSN/P-GW
- the gateway forwards the subscription event reported by the location change to the mobility management network element in the session management response message (for example, SGSN).
- the mobility management network element sends a location report control message to the access network element (for example, RNC/eNodeB), and carries the subscription event reported by the location change report in the report control message.
- the access network element for example, RNC/eNodeB
- the mobility management network element reports the event of the location change of the user equipment to the PCRF through the gateway.
- This location reporting method relies on the deployment of the PCC architecture, and the reporting event of the PCC subscription user equipment location change depends on the presence of the user equipment bearer.
- Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is a network communication between one or more network elements without human intervention, such as traffic control and management, factory monitoring, remote meter reading and other applications.
- the M2M terminal device can connect to the application server for data communication through the wireless evolution network.
- the network when the location of the user equipment changes, the network reports the event of the user equipment location change to the PCRF; according to the requirements of the M2M application, the network only needs to use this when the M2M terminal enters or leaves a specific area. The event is reported to the application server. Therefore, if the location reporting scheme of the H2H communication system is used, the network of the M2M communication system will report a large amount of invalid signaling, resulting in an increase in network load.
- the H2H communication system network can only detect the location change of the user equipment in the connected state, and cannot detect the location change of the user equipment in the idle state.
- M2M applications in order to save network resources, many M2M terminals are only attached to the network and do not establish bearers. Therefore, when there is no bearer in the M2M terminal, the M2M terminal is in an idle state, and the H2H pass is used.
- the location reporting scheme of the letter system cannot be used for location reporting. Summary of the invention

- the event information may further include a report type, for example, the report is sent to the target location area, reported to the target location area, or reported to and from the target location area.
- the HLR/HSS may carry the above event information in an Update Location Ack message to the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR.
- Step 3014 The SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR sends an Attach/Routing Area Update/Location Area Update Accept (Attach/RAU/TAU/LAU Accept) message to the UE.
- the Attach/RAU/TAU/LAU Accept message carries the event information obtained by the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR in step 3013.
- Manner 2 The network notifies the UE of the event information by using an application layer. Specifically, after the UE is attached to the network, the network notifies the UE of the event information by using an application information server (for example, an OMA DM server).
- an application information server for example, an OMA DM server
- Step 302 The UE may determine, according to the obtained event information, whether it enters or leaves the target location area.
- the UE may obtain location information of the target location area from the event information, for example, location information broadcast by the UE through the access network element (eg, cell information, routing area information, At least one of tracking area information, location area information, or tracking area list information, etc., to know the location information of the UE.
- the UE compares the location information of the UE with the obtained location information of the target location area. If the location information of the UE and the obtained location information of the target location area are the same, the UE enters the target location area. If the location information of the UE and the obtained location information of the target location area are different, the UE leaves the target location area.
- the UE may also obtain an access network element identifier corresponding to the reporting type and/or the target location area in the event information.
- Step 303 The UE initiates the access, so that the mobility management network element obtains the location information of the UE, and the mobility management network element performs the event reporting according to the location information and the event information of the UE, which may include the following steps 3031 to 3032. :
- Step 3031 If the UE detects, according to step 302, that the UE enters or leaves the target location area, the UE initiates an access procedure. Specifically, the UE may send a Service/TAU/RAU/LAU Request message to the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR through the radio access network RAN.
- the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR may determine whether to report the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area according to whether the UE enters or leaves the target location area for the first time. .
- the UE may carry the indication information in the Service/TAU/RAU/LAU Request message to indicate whether the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR reports the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area, and may be reported by default or according to the indication information. The value is determined to be reported.
- the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR may also record in the UE context whether the UE is entering or leaving the target location area for the first time by a flag bit.
- Step 3032 The access network element (for example, RNC or eNodeB or BSC) sends the location information of the UE to the management network element.
- the RNC sends an Initial UE message/Uplink packet to the SGSN or MSC/VLR.
- the eNodeB sends an initial UE message to the MME.
- the initial UE message may carry cell information (CGI or ECGI) or tracking area (TAI) information of the UE.
- CGI cell information
- ECGI cell information
- TAI tracking area
- the BSC sends an uplink data packet to the SGSN and carries the cell information of the UE to the SGSN.
- the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR may compare the location information of the UE and the location information of the target location area obtained in step 301. If they are the same, the UE may enter. The target location area, if different, may indicate that the UE has left the target location area. The SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR determines whether to report an event of the UE entering or leaving the target location area according to the comparison result.
- the step is performed in step 3031.
- the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR may determine, according to the foregoing comparison result and the indication information, whether to report an event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area; if the UE is in the Service/TAU/RAU/LAU Request message in step 3031 If the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR does not report the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area, the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR does not report or even compares in step 3032.
- the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR may determine whether to report the UE entering or leaving the target location area according to the foregoing comparison result and a flag in the UE context that records whether the UE is entering or leaving the target location area for the first time. event. Specifically, after the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR learns that the UE enters or leaves the target location area for the first time, The SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR sets the flag bit in the UE context to be invalid (for example, set to "0"). If the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR learns that the reporting condition is satisfied, but the flag is invalid, the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR does not perform event reporting.
- the UE entering the target location area for the first time means that the location of the UE is changed from the non-target location area to the target location area; the first time the UE leaves the target location area means that the location of the UE changes from the target location area to the non-target area.
- Location area
- the MME may allocate a tracking area list (TA list) for the UE.
- the information only contains the location information of the TA as the target location area. If the UE enters or leaves the TA, the UE actively initiates a Tracking Area Update (TAU) procedure.
- the MME may determine whether the UE enters or leaves the target location area (ie, the TA) according to the location information of the UE and the TA information learned in the TAU procedure.
- the method for performing event reporting may include the following scenarios:
- the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR reports the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area to the application server, and specifically includes the following steps 3033a to 3035a.
- Step 3033a The SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR sends a Location Report message, where the Location Report message may indicate that the UE enters or leaves the target location area.
- the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR may directly send the message to the application server, or the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR sends the Location Report message to the third-party network element (for example, the M2M platform), and the third-party network
- the event further reports the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area to the application server.
- Step 3034a If the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR first sends the Location Report message to the third-party network element, the third-party network element reports the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area to the application server after obtaining the Location Report message. Specifically, the third-party network element can Forwarding the Location Report message to the application server, or the third-party network element learns that the UE enters or leaves the target location area according to the Location Report message, and then the third-party network element converts the target location area into a geographical location, and the third-party network The entity reports to the application server an event that the UE enters or leaves the geographic location.
- Step 3035a If the event message sent by the third-party network element to the application server to enter or leave the target location area (the forwarded Location Report message or the reported event of the UE entering or leaving the geographic location), the application server The third party network element sends a Location Report Ack message, and the third party network element sends the Location Report Ack message to the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR.
- the location report message of the UE entering or leaving the target location area, the application server directly therein, the Location Report Ack message may also carry the processing information indicating the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR to the UE. For example, the UE is separated or the UE is restricted from starting a service or the like.
- Scenario 2 The SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR learns that the condition of the report is satisfied, and the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR reports the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area to the application server by using the GGSN/PGW, which may include the following step 3033b. Go to step 3036b.
- Step 3033b The SGSN/MME sends a Location Report message, where the message indicates that the UE enters or leaves the target location area.
- the SGSN/MME sends the message to the GGSN/PGW.
- Step 3034b The GGSN/PGW sends the location report message to the application server, or the GGSN/PGW sends the Location Report message to the third-party network element (for example, the M2M platform), and then the third-party network element enters or leaves the UE.
- the event in the target location area is reported to the application server. If the GGSN/PGW first sends the Location Report message to the third-party network element, the third-party network element can obtain the Location Report message, and then the UE can enter or The event leaving the target location area is reported to the application server.
- the third-party network element can
- the location report message is forwarded to the application server, or the third-party network element learns that the UE enters or leaves the target location area according to the Location Report message, and then converts the target location area into a geographical location, and then reports the UE to enter or leave the application server.
- the event of the geographic location is forwarded to the application server, or the third-party network element learns that the UE enters or leaves the target location area according to the Location Report message, and then converts the target location area into a geographical location, and then reports the UE to enter or leave the application server.
- Step 3035b If the third-party network element sends an event message to the application server to enter or leave the target location area, the application server sends a Location Report Ack message to the third-party network element, and the third-party network element sends the Location Report Ack to the GGSN/PGW. Message.
- the application server may directly send a Location Report Ack message to the GGSN/PGW.
- the Location Report Ack message may also carry the indication information of the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR to the UE. For example, the UE is separated or the UE is restricted from starting a service or the like.
- Step 3036b The GGSN/PGW sends a Location Report Ack message to the SGSN/MME.
- Scenario 3 The SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR learns that the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR is satisfied, and the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR reports the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area to the application server by using the HLR/HSS, which may include the following step 3033c. Go to step 3036c.
- Step 3033c The SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR sends a Location Report message, where the message indicates that the UE enters or leaves the target location area.

- Step 3034c The HLR/HSS sends the Location Report message to the application server, or the HLR/HSS sends the Location Report message to the third-party network element (for example, the M2M platform), and then the third-party network element enters or leaves the UE.
- the event in the target location area is reported to the application server. If the HLR/HSS first sends a Location Report message to a third-party network element, then After the third-party network element obtains the Location Report message, the third-party network element reports the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area to the application server.
- the third-party network element may forward the Location Report message to the application server, or the third-party network element learns that the UE enters or leaves the target location area according to the Location Report message, and then the third-party network element converts the target location area. For the geographic location, the third-party network element reports to the application server an event that the UE enters or leaves the geographic location.

- the application server sends a Location Report Ack message directly to the HLR/HSS.
- the Location Report Ack message may also carry the indication information of the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR to the UE. For example, the UE is separated or the UE is restricted from starting a service or the like.
- Step 3036c The HLR/HSS sends a Location Report to the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR.
- Step 304 The SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR sends a Service Request/Tracking Area Update/Routing Area Update Accept (Service/TAU/RAU/LAU Accept) message to the UE.
- Service/TAU/RAU/LAU Accept Service/TAU/RAU/LAU Accept
- the UE may obtain the event information for reporting the entry or exit of the target location area from the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR, and may be based on the event information.
- the location information of the target location area and the location information of the acquired UE determine whether the UE enters or leaves the target location area; If yes, the UE may initiate an access to the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR. After the UE transitions to the connected state or the Ready state, the SGSN/MME/MSC/VLR may perform an event by using the location information of the root target location area and the location information of the UE.
- the report satisfies the requirement that the application server performs event reporting when the UE enters or leaves the target location area, avoids useless signaling, and reduces system signaling load; and does not require the UE to establish a bearer and maintain the connection state, thereby reducing the location report.
- Embodiment 4 is a flowchart of a method for location reporting according to Embodiment 4 of the present invention. It is assumed that in a scenario where the UE is in a connected state, where the UE is in a connected state, the UE transitions from an idle state to a connected state after the UE initiates the access. Or the UE changes from the Standby state to the Ready state. As shown
- the specific method for the network to report the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area to the application server may include the following steps:
- Step 401 The UE initiates an access, where the SGSN/MME obtains the subscription data of the UE.
- the subscription data of the UE includes event information for reporting that the UE enters or leaves the target location area.
- the step of acquiring the event information by the SGSN/MME in the access process may specifically include the following steps: 401 1 to the step
- Step 401 The UE sends an Attach/TAU/RAU Request message to the SGSN/MME.
- Step 4012 The SGSN/MME sends an update location request to the HLR/HSS (Update
- Step 4013 The HLR/HSS sends an Update Location Ack message to the SGSN/MME, where the Update Location Ack message includes the subscription data of the UE, where the subscription data includes the event information.
- Step 4014 The SGSN/MME sends an attach/tracking area update/routing area update acceptance to the UE.
- Step 402 After the UE initiates the access, the UE initiates the connection establishment, and changes from the idle state to the connected state or from the Standby state to the Ready state, and the specific UE may send the service/tracking zone update/routing area update request to the SGSN/MME. (Service/TAU/RAU Request) message. The UE may send the Service/TAU/RAU Request message to the RAN first, and the RAN forwards the Service/TAU/RAU Request message (included in the Initial UE message) to the SGSN/MME.
- Service/TAU/RAU Request Service/TAU/RAU Request
- Step 403 The SGSN/MME sends a Location Report Control message carrying the event information to the RAN.
- Step 404 The RAN sends a Location Report message to the SGSN/MME to report an event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area.
- the SGSN/MME may obtain, according to step 401, event information that reports that the UE enters or leaves the target location area. After the UE enters the connection state through step 402, the SGSN/MME sends the event information to the RAN. In the scenario where the UE is in the connected state, the RAN learns that the UE enters or leaves the target location area, and enters or leaves the UE. The event in the target location area is reported to the SGSN/MME. Specifically, the SGSN/MME sends a Location Report Control message to the RNC or the eNodeB, where the Location Report Control message includes the event information.
- the RAN detects whether the UE enters or leaves the target location area according to the obtained event information. If the RAN detects that the UE enters or leaves the target location area, the RAN reports the UE entry to the SGSN/MME. Or an event that leaves the target location area. For example, in the UTRAN system, the RNC detects that the UE enters or leaves the target location area (for example, a certain cell), and the RNC reports to the SGSN that the UE enters or leaves the target location area.
- the target location area for example, a certain cell
- the eNodeB detects that the UE enters or leaves the target location area (for example, a certain cell or a tracking area), and the eNodeB reports to the MME that the UE enters or leaves the target location area.
- the target location area for example, a certain cell or a tracking area
- the SGSN/MME needs to be new
- the RAN sends the event information, specifically, the SGSN/MME can switch in the handover process.
- the event information is sent to the RAN in a message such as a Handover Request/Relocation Request/Path Switch Request.
- the SGSN/MME may also send the event information to the RAN in an initial UE context setup or an air interface access allocation request (RAB assignment Request) message in the Service/TAU/RAU Request procedure.
- RAB assignment Request air interface access allocation request
- the SGSN/MME may select a part of the RAN to send the event information. Specifically, since the target location area in the event information is a fixed target location area, only a part of the RAN side device can cover the target location area. When the UE accesses the network on the other RAN side device, the SGSN/MME can learn that the UE is not in the range of the target location area, and may not instruct the RAN side device to detect whether the UE enters or leaves the target location area. The SGSN/MME sends the event information to the RAN side devices only when the UE accesses the RAN side device that can cover the target location area, and the RAN side device detects whether the UE enters or leaves the device.
- the event information that is contracted in the subscription data may include not only the location information of the target location area, but also the reporting type, and may also include the RAN side device (ie, the access network element) corresponding to the target location area.
- Information such as: Access network element identifier (RNC ID or eNodeB ID, etc.).
- RNC ID Access network element identifier
- the RAN side device may carry the access network element identifier in a message and send it to the SGSN/MME.
- the SGSN/MME compares the access network element identifier sent by the RAN side device with the access network element identifier in the event information.
- the SGSN/MME notifies the event information to the RAN through the foregoing process.
- Side equipment After the RAN side device learns the event information, it detects that the UE enters or leaves the target location area according to the foregoing method. If yes, the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area is reported to the SGSN/MME.
- Step 405 After receiving the Location report message sent by the RAN, the SGSN/MME may enter or leave the target location area on the SGSN/MME.
- the SGSN/MME may enter or leave the target location area on the SGSN/MME.
- the RAN may obtain the event information for reporting the entry or exit of the UE into the target location area from the SGSN/MME, and may be based on the target location area in the event information.
- the location information and the location information of the UE detected by the RAN determine whether the UE enters or leaves the target location area; if yes, reports the event that the UE enters or leaves the target location area to the SGSN/MME, and the SGSN/MME obtains from the RAN.
- the location information of the UE is used to perform event reporting according to the location information of the target location area and the location information of the UE, which satisfies the requirement that the application server performs event reporting when the UE enters or leaves the target location area, thereby avoiding useless signaling and reducing System signaling load.
- the foregoing storage medium includes: a medium that can store program codes, such as a ROM, a RAM, a magnetic disk, or an optical disk.
