Definitions
- the present invention relates to a flooded metering device used with any type of product, whether granulated or powdered.
- Each feeder is suitable for a type of product, which may be powdered or granulated, such as cereals, sugar or powdery flours.
- the Carousel Mug Dispenser is most commonly used for granular products. It comprises a funnel for receiving the product to be measured and packaged; below the funnel is a turntable provided with a plurality of containers, each of which, in time, is aligned at the outlet of said funnel as the platform is rotated, filling it with the product. Below the turntable is a base with an opening for the exit of the packaging product. As said platform rotates, one of its containers is aligned with the opening of said base, releasing the product from the container.
- the control of the quantity to be packaged is made by the volume of the mugs that, after being filled, are moved under the rotation of the platform, until they find the exit positioned in the base of the doser, releasing all its contents for packing.
- the single drawer mug dispenser is also used for granular products.
- the measurement is made by filling a container that is positioned between a funnel filled with the material to be measured and an outlet of the packaging material.
- the dispenser further comprises two floodgates, one upper and one lower than the container, which function as drawers that close or open the passage from the funnel to the container and from the container to the outlet.
- the measurement is then made by the volume of the container, which is filled by keeping the lower gate closed and the upper gate open to receive the funnel material.
- the upper gate is closed and then the lower one opens, freeing the material for packaging.
- the volumetric screw feeder is more suitable for powder or flour products because it allows a finer adjustment of the measured quantity.
- the second funnel further comprises an agitator that advances to the beginning of the dosing thread, facilitating the positioning of the product between its fillets.
- the dosage is made as a function of the number of turns that the thread makes, the more turns, the greater the amount of product that advances to the exit of the tubular extension where it is released. For example, when choosing a quantity of product to package, you must adjust the number of turns or fraction of turns of the thread required for such volume to be dumped.
- each of these dosers is suitable for one type of product, and it is not possible to use a single doser for different products, presented in powder or granules.
- the present gated dosing device has been developed which can be used with any type of product, whether granulated or powdered.
- Figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of the present gate metering device (1).
- Figure 2 is a schematic perspective view of the metering device (1) without the cover (5) and the tubular element (3).
- Figure 3 is a schematic perspective view of the drive mechanism (A) pertaining to the metering device (1).
- Figure 4 is a rear perspective view of the gate dosing device (1) without the cover (5).
- the present invention relates to a gate metering device (1) formed by a vertical structure comprising a product receiving funnel (2) and a lower tubular extension (20), being the lower opening of the tubular extension (20) closed by a pair of pivotable primary gates (21) by means of a drive mechanism (A) (better illustrated in figure 2); and further comprises a tubular element (3) around the extension (20), the lower opening of which is positioned below the extension opening (2), and is closed by a pair of secondary gates (31) hinged by means of the drive mechanism. (A) which, upon opening, release the product retained between the primary (21) and secondary (31) gates for packaging.
- Said tubular element (3) is fixed to a support (11) which is connected to a nut (15) threaded to a vertical endless thread (12), such that the vertical positions of the tubular element (3) and the secondary gates (31) may be amended to allow control of the quantity of product to be packaged.
- the height level of the tubular member (3) is adjusted to the extent that its lower outlet is spaced or approached from the lower outlet of the extension (20) so as to allow a greater or lesser volume retention between its secondary gates ( 31) and primary (21).
- the product positioned in the funnel (2) descends along the extension (20) and is retained there by its primary floodgates (21).
- the product By releasing the opening of the primary gates (21) the product continues to descend until it encounters the secondary gates (31) of the tubular element (3) which prevent the product from further descending.
- the drive mechanism (A) comprises pistons (8) and (9) connected by levers (80) and (90), respectively, which have an intermediate support (81) and (91) attached to any location of the housing structure.
- levers (80) and (90) have their ends opposite the ends connected to the pistons (8) and (9), in the form of forks (82, 92) whose free ends are connected to the axes (212) and (312) of the gates 21 and 31 by means of arms 83 and 93 to move the gates 21 or 31 of each pair simultaneously.
- the primary (21) and secondary (31) gates comprise upper side rods (211) and (311) which advance to the extension (20) and tubular member (3), where they are pivotally connected at such a point. (213, 313), between an opening and closing position of the protractor (20) and tubular element (3) outlets, respectively.
- the piston (8) which is responsible for moving the primary gates (21), is positioned above the plate (10) and the lever (80) is turned downwards, causing the primary gates (21) ) are opened when the piston rod (8) advances, and are closed when the piston rod (8) recedes.
- the piston (9), responsible for moving the secondary gates (31), is arranged so that the lever (90) is directed upwards, causing said secondary gates (31) to be opened when the piston rod (9) recoils and is closed when piston rod (9) advances.
- the positioning of the pistons (8) and (9) can be reversed, which provides a reversal in the movement of the primary (21) and secondary (31) gates.
- the products fall by gravity to the tubular element (3), where they are retained by the secondary gates (31) filling the space above them. Then close the primary gates (21), and then the secondary gates (31) are opened, releasing the product retained between them, which passes through the funnel (7), proceeding for packaging.
- the dosing cycle is repeated with the closing of the secondary gates (31) followed by the opening of the primary gates (21), allowing new product accumulation between them, for later release for packaging.
- the receiving funnel (2) is provided with a conical hat (23) above and away from the extension inlet 20 to prevent material accumulation in the center of the funnel (2) and excess pressure in the primary gates (21).
- the hat (23) comprises a breather tube (22) through it, preventing the generation of vacuum between the hat (23) and the funnel outlet (2) to the protractor (20), ensuring that the down the receiver funnel (2) by gravity.
- the dispenser (1) further comprises a lower dump funnel (7) positioned towards the tubular member (3), and a cover (5) around the tubular member (3) which advances to the funnel (7) so do not expose the product when it is released by the secondary gates (31) of the tubular element (3) to the funnel (7).
- the present gate doser (1) further comprises a pair of vertical bars (6) along which clamps (50) slide which are connected to the cover (5).
- the clamps (50) are locked to the bars (6) by any known means, such as screws (51), which pass through the clamps (50) and advance to the bars (6), where they are pressed, retaining the clamps to such bars ( 6).
- the height adjustment of the tubular element (3) is made to vary the amount of product to be packaged.
- raising the tubular element (3) decreases the distance between the primary (21) and secondary (31) gates, reducing the amount of material between them, and consequently reducing the amount of material to be packaged.
- lowering the tubular member (3) increases the distance between the gates (21) and (31), increasing the amount of material between them, and consequently increasing the amount of material to be packaged.
- tubular element (3) is fixed to a support (11) which in turn it is instead connected to a nut (15) screwed to a vertical endless thread (12), so that by turning the thread (12) the bracket (11) is moved up or down according to the direction of rotation. thread (12) by raising or lowering the bracket (11), which carries the tubular member (3).
- the support (11) has its horizontal movement limited by two bars
- the endless thread (12) is preferably driven by a motor (14) which causes the thread (12) to rotate about its axis by moving the nut (15) vertically and, consequently the support (11) up or down according to the direction of rotation of the motor shaft (14).
- the height of the tubular element (3) is adjusted by moving its support (11) up or down, moving or closing the secondary gates (31) from the gates 15. (21), offering a larger or smaller space between them to be filled by the product.
