Par ce procédé de détection de cassette (S13, S15), le support à rouleau est pincé sur la cassette à bande montée dans l'unité de montage de cassette, le type de cassette à bande est détecté par le capteur latéral, le support à rouleau est par la suite libéré de la cassette à bande montée dans l'unité de montage de cassette, et le dispositif est placé dans un état d'attente d'impression. Il est possible de réduire la déformation du rouleau à platine étant donné que le support à platine se trouvant sur le support à rouleau n'est pas comprimé en un contact constant avec la tête thermique.
