Abstract

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die Verwendung von 1,1-Diethoxyethanzur Erhöhung der Klopffestigkeit von niedrig siedendem Benzin mit einem Siedebeginn (SB) von 80°C bis 120°C um mindestens 40 Einheiten (Research-Oktanzahl).

Description

Verwendung von 1,1 -Diethoxyethan zur Erhöhung der Klopffestigkeit von Motorenbenzin
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft die Verwendung von 1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan (Acetaldehyddieethylacetat) als Antiklopfmittel für Ottokraftstoffe (Motorenbenzin). Gegenstand der Erfindung ist auch das durch Zusatz des erfindungsgemäßen Antiklopfmittels erhaltene Motorenbenzin. In der vorliegenden Anmeldung wird im Weiteren ausschließlich der korrekte Begriff Motorenbenzin verwendet, das umgangssprachlich als Ottokraftstoff bezeichnet wird.
Es gibt verschiedene Sorten von Motorenbenzin, z. B. Super oder Superplus, die sich in ihrer Klopffestigkeit unterscheiden. Die Klopffestigkeit ist die Eigenschaft des verwendeten Benzins in einem Ottomotor nicht unkontrolliert durch Selbstzündung zu verbrennen („Klopfen"), sondern ausschließlich durch Zündfunken, Einspritzung oder Kompression gesteuert. Dem Motorenbenzin werden deshalb Additive zugesetzt, die sogenannten Antiklopfmittel, die die Klopfneigung des Ottomotors durch Erhöhung der Oktanzahl herabsetzen.
Die Oktanzahl definiert also das Maß für die Klopffestigkeit des Motorenbenzins. Der Zahlenwert der Oktanzahl bis 100 gibt an, wieviel %-Volumenanteil Isooktan CsHis (ROZ = 100) sich in einer Mischung mit n-Heptan C7Hi6 (ROZ = 0) befinden muss, damit diese die gleiche Klopffestigkeit (in einem Prüfmotor nach ROZ oder MOZ) aufweist wie der zu prüfende Kraftstoff. Zum Beispiel würde eine Oktanzahl von ROZ = 95 eines Benzins bedeuten, dass dessen Klopffestigkeit einem Gemisch aus 95 Vol.% Isooktan und 5 Vol.% n-Heptan entspricht.
Die Research-Oktanzahl (ROZ) wird nach DIN EN ISO 5164 (ASTM D 2699) ermittelt und beschreibt das Klopfverhalten bei geringer Motorlast und niedrigen Drehzahlen. Die Motor-Oktanzahl (MOZ) wird nach DIN EN ISO 5163 (ASTM D 2700) ermittelt und beschreibt das Verhalten bei hoher Motorlast und hoher thermischer Belastung.
Als Antiklopfmittel wurden früher Organobleiverbindungen, insbesondere Bleialkyle wie Tetraethylblei, verwendet. Inzwischen werden sauerstoffhaltige Verbindungen (Oxygenate) wie z. B. Alkohole oder Ether benutzt, da Blei den Autoabgaskatalysator vergiftet und zudem toxisch und umweltschädlich ist. Da Benzin-Alkohol-Gemische die Neigung haben, sich bei Anwesenheit von Wasser bzw. bei niedrigen Temperaturen zu entmischen, wird heute als Antiklopfmittel hauptsächlich Methyl- tert-Butylether (MTBE) eingesetzt. Allerdings handelt es sich bei MTBE um einen Umweltschadstoff, der schwer biologisch abbaubar ist (die Halbwertzeit im Grundwasser beträgt 10 bis 15 Jahre). Neben MTBE kommt in Russland als Antiklopfmittel z. B. auch N-Methylanilin (Monomethylanilin, MMA) zum Einsatz, das bezüglich seiner Antiklopfeigenschaften wirksamer ist als MTBE oder Methanol, aber zur Bildung von cancerogenen N-Nitrosaminen führt.
Auch in der Patentliteratur werden eine Reihe von Verbindungen zur Erhöhung der Klopffestigkeit von Ottokraftstoffen vorgeschlagen.
So beschreibt US 6,514,299 als Antiklopfmittel eine Zusammensetzung aus 85 bis 99 Vol.% Ci-C4-Alkohol und 1 bis 15 Vol.% einer Etherverbindung, ausgewählt aus der Gruppe der Dialkoxyalkane, Alkoxyalkanole, Trialkoxyalkane, Dialkoxycycloalkane und Arylalkyldiether. Die Zusammensetzung wird hergestellt durch Erhitzen eines d- C4-Alkohols in Gegenwart eines neutralen oder basischen Platinkatalysators. Die Zusammensetzung zeigt eine synergistische Erhöhung der Oktanzahl .
DE 31 33 899 A1 schlägt den Zusatz von Ketalen der allgemeinen Formel R3O- C(Ri)(R2)-OR4 vor, in der Ri=CH3, C2H5 oder C3H7 ist, R2 CH3 oder C2H5 darstellt und R3 sowie R4 CH3, C2H5, CsH7 oder C4H9 sein können. Gegebenenfalls werden diese Dialkoxyalkane zusammen mit Dialkoxymethanen zugesetzt. In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform werden 2,2-Dialkoxypropane (insbesondere 2,2- Dimethoxypropan), gegebenenfalls zusammen mit Dimethoxymethan verwendet. Die Ergebnisse der Anmeldung zeigen, dass diese Zusätze die Research- und die Motor- Oktanzahl um maximal 2,5 Einheiten erhöhen.
Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung war es, ein alternatives Antiklopfmittel für Motorenbenzin bereitzustellen, das eine signifikante Erhöhung sowohl der Research-Oktanzahl als auch der Motor-Oktanzahl bewirkt.
Es wurde nun überraschender Weise gefunden, dass der alleinige Zusatz von 1 ,1 - Diethoxyethan zu niedrig siedendem Benzin mit einem Siedebeginn (SB, Initial Boiling Point, IBP) von 80°C bis 120°C zu einer signifikanten Erhöhung der Klopffestigkeit der Research-Oktanzahl (ROZ) von mindestens 40 Einheiten führt. Die MOZ wird um 25 bis mehr als 40 Einheiten erhöht, vorzugsweise um 30 bis 40 Einheiten. 1 ,1 -Diethoxyetahn wird von 5 bis 20Vol.%, bevorzugt von 5 bis 10%, zugegeben. Das niedrig siedende Benzin mit SB 80°C bis 120°C dient als Basisbenzin und hat eine ROZ und eine MOZ von je mindestens 70 Einheiten, vorzugsweise von je mindestens 75 Einheiten. Durch Zusatz von 1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan und üblichen Additiven wie z. B. Antioxidantien, Korrosionsschutz-mitteln, Detergentien (zum Schutz vor Ablagerungen im Einspritzsystem), Vergaservereisungsinhibitoren, Zündbeschleunigern etc. oder deren Gemischen wird das Motorenbenzin der Erfindung hergestellt. Das eingesetzte Basisbenzin hat einen Siedebeginn von vorzugsweise 80 bis 1 15°C, besonders bevorzugt von 85 bis 1 10°C, ganz besonders bevorzugt von 90°C bis 1 10°C. Erfindungsgemäß bevorzugt werden 5 bis 10Vol.%, ganz besonders bevorzugt ca. 5Vol.% 1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan zugegeben.
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist auch ein Motorenbenzin mit einer Research-Oktanzahl von 1 10 bis 140 Einheiten, umfassend niedrig siedendes Benzin mit einem Siedebeginn (SB) von 80°C bis 120°C als Basisbenzin, 1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan als Antiklopfmittel und übliche Additive, wobei weitere Antiklopfmittel ausgeschlossen sind. Vorzugsweise hat das Motorenbenzin der Erfindung eine Motor-Oktanzahl von 95 bis 140 Einheiten, besonders bevorzugt von 100 bis 140 Einheiten. Erfindungsgemäß umfasst das Motorenbenzin der Erfindung neben 1 ,1 - Diethoxyethan und üblichen Additiven keine weiteren Antiklopfmittel und insbesondere keine d-C4-Alkohole, die in US 6,514,299 in Kombination mit speziellen 1 ,1 -Dialkoxyalkanen als Antiklopfmittel beschrieben sind. Das Motorenbenzin umfasst auch keine Ketale der allgemeinen Formel RsO-C(Ri)(R2)- OR4, die in DE 31 33 899 A1 in Kombination mit Dimethoxymethan als Antiklopfmittel beschrieben sind.
Es hat sich auch gezeigt, dass die Beimischungen von 1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan zum Benzin Rußbildung verhindert und darüber hinaus wie ein Reinigungsmittel wirkt, das Kohlenstoffablagerungen im Zylinder des Motors entfernt und die Reinheit der Einspritzpumpe gewährleistet.
Wird 1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan kommerziellem Benzin (mit 15, 10 oder 20% Ethanol) zugesetzt, so ist dieses 1 bis 1 ,5 Jahre stabil und es findet keine Entmischung statt. Das Gleiche trifft auf das Motorenbenzin der vorliegenden Erfindung zu.
Im Nachfolgenden wird die Erfindung an Ausführungsbeispielen näher erläutert.
Ausführungsbeispiele
1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan wurde nach bekannten Methoden synthetisiert und sein Siedepunkt mit 103°C und sein Brechungsindex mit 1 ,3819 (nd 20) bestimmt.
Die in Tabelle 1 aufgeführten Verbindungen wurden zum Vergleich mit 1 ,1 - Diethoxyethan in den angegebenen Volumenanteilen niedrig siedendem Benzin mit 1 10°C zugesetzt. Diethoxyethan wurde niedrig siedenden Benzinfraktionen mit SB 100°C und SB 1 10°C zugesetzt. Die ROZ wurde nach ASTM D 2699-86 mit dem Shatox SX-300 bzw. Shatox SX-150 NEW Analysator gemessen und gegebenenfalls extrapoliert. Die MOZ wurde nach ASTM D 2700-86 in der gleichen Weise bestimmt. Tabelle 1

Die erhaltenen Werte zeigen eindrucksvoll, dass die Zugabe von 5 bis 10Vol.% 1 ,1 - Diethoxyethan zum niedrig siedenden Basisbenzin eine Erhöhung der MOZ um 29 bis mehr als 40 Einheiten und eine Erhöhung der ROZ um mehr als 40 Einheiten bewirkt.

Claims

Patentansprüche
1 . Verwendung von 1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan zur Erhöhung der Klopffestigkeit von niedrig siedendem Benzin mit einem Siedebeginn (SB) von 80°C bis 120°C, das eine Research-Oktanzahl und eine Motor-Oktanzahl von mindestens 70 Einheiten aufweist, wobei neben dem 1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan keine weiteren Antiklopfmittel zugesetzt werden und die Research-Oktanzahl des Benzins durch den alleinigen Zusatz von 1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan um mindestens 40 Einheiten erhöht wird.
2. Verwendung nach Anspruch 1 , dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Motor- Oktanzahl um 25 bis mehr als 40 Einheiten erhöht wird, vorzugsweise um 30 bis 40 Einheiten.
3. Verwendung nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass niedrig siedendes Benzin mit einem Siedebeginn von 80 bis 1 15°C eingesetzt wird, vorzugsweise von 85 bis 1 10°C.
4. Verwendung nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass 5 bis 20Vol.-% 1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan, bezogen auf das Gesamtvolumen des niedrig siedenden Benzins, eingesetzt werden, vorzugsweise 5 bis 10Vol.%, besonders bevorzugt ca. 5Vol.%.
5. Motorenbenzin mit einer Research-Oktanzahl von 1 10 bis 140 Einheiten, umfassend niedrig siedendes Benzin mit einem Siedebeginn (SB) von 80°C bis 120°C als Basisbenzin, 1 ,1 -Diethoxyethan als Antiklopfmittel und übliche Additive, wobei weitere Antiklopfmittel ausgeschlossen sind.
6. Motorenbenzin nach Anspruch 5 mit einer Motor-Oktanzahl von 95 bis 140 Einheiten, vorzugsweise von 100 bis 140 Einheiten.
