Abstract

Un puits de production d'huile est foré dans une roche source de craie kérogène comprenant (i) du kérogène de type IIs et (ii) de l'huile non conventionnelle présente naturellement à de faibles profondeurs, dérivée du kérogène de type IIs qui se trouve dans l'espace poreux de la roche source. Dans certains modes de réalisation, le puits de production est foré en un emplacement tel qu'un gradient géothermique d'au moins 3 °C par 100 m est présent au niveau du puits de production ou à proximité de celui-ci. La maturation accélérée, résultant de ce gradient géothermique, du kérogène de type IIs de la roche source, est susceptible de convertir une partie du kérogène de type IIs en huile non conventionnelle. Dans certains modes de réalisation, le puits de production à faible profondeur est non vertical. Dans certains modes de réalisation, à des faibles profondeurs et à l'intérieur de la roche source, le puits de production est tubé et perforé. L'huile issue de la roche source peut être produite via le puits de production et les emplacements de perforation à faible profondeur.
