Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé servant à produire des produits gonflables par séparation de l'air à basse température dans un système à colonnes de distillation (7) d'une installation de séparation d'air. Ledit système à colonnes de distillation (7) comporte une colonne à haute pression (71) et une colonne à basse pression (72). La quantité d'air totale utilisée globalement dans ledit procédé est comprimée dans un compresseur principal (2) de manière à être portée à une pression de compresseur principal qui est supérieure au moins de 4 bar à une pression de service, à laquelle fonctionne la colonne à haute pression (71). Une première partie de la quantité d'air totale comprimée portée à la pression de compresseur principal est amenée côté chaud à un échangeur de chaleur principal (6) pour y être refroidie, est détendue dans une machine de détente (12) et est injectée dans la colonne à haute pression (71). Et une deuxième partie de la quantité d'air totale comprimée portée à la pression de compresseur principal est refroidie et détendue dans l'échangeur de chaleur principal (6) et est injectée dans le système à colonne de distillation (7). Selon l'invention, le procédé est effectué selon une quantité de produit liquide d'au moins un produit gonflable prélevé de l'installation de séparation d'air dans l'état liquide, dans un premier mode de fonctionnement et dans un deuxième mode de fonctionnement. On utilise une turbine de générateur (30), dans laquelle on détend et on rejette dans l'atmosphère une troisième partie de la quantité d'air totale dans le deuxième mode de fonctionnement en une quantité plus importante que dans le premier mode de fonctionnement. Au moins un produit gonflable liquide de l'installation de séparation d'air est prélevé dans le deuxième mode de fonctionnement en une quantité de produit liquide plus importante que dans le premier mode de fonctionnement. La première partie de la quantité d'air totale est amenée à la machine de détente (12) au maximum à une pression à laquelle ladite quantité d'air totale est amenée côté chaud à l'échangeur de chaleur principal (6). L'invention concerne également une installation de séparation d'air qui est mise au point pour la mise en œuvre d'un procédé de ce type.
