Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the field of communications, and in particular, to a method for processing link and configuration errors, a user equipment, and a base station.
  • Background Art In an LTE-A system, when a user equipment detects some serious error and cannot communicate again, the user equipment needs to initiate a connection re-establishment process. Through the re-establishment process, the connection between the user equipment and the network side is restored, the security function is reactivated, and the primary cell can also be configured. During the re-establishment process, there is a phase in the communication between the user equipment and the network side that can only send signaling that is not protected by the security mechanism. After the completion of the reconstruction process, only the signaling transmissions that are partially protected by the security mechanism are restored. The data transmission and a part of the signaling transmission protected by the security mechanism require other processes to be configured to be recovered.
  • the reconstruction process is performed by the Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer.
  • RRC Radio Resource Control
  • the user equipment must and only initiate the re-establishment process after the security function of the access layer is started.
  • the rebuild process can be initiated when one of the following five conditions is met: (1) a radio link failure is detected; (2) a handover failure; (3) an E-UTRA (Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio) (Access) fails; (4) The integrity detection failure indication is obtained from the bottom layer; (5) The RRC connection reconfiguration fails.

  • the inventors have found that if the deployment of small cells is simply increased, the number of handovers can be significantly increased when the terminal moves in a place where dense small cells are deployed. This will increase the control signaling burden. Especially for some high-speed users, the dropped call rate will increase significantly, which will seriously affect the user experience.
