Abstract

La présente invention concerne un navire de haute mer destiné à être utilisé dans de l'eau recouverte au moins partiellement de glace, le navire comprenant une coque présentant au moins une proue conçue pour être exposée à l'effet de charge de la glace dû à un mouvement relatif entre la glace et le navire; la proue définissant une étrave au niveau de laquelle des parties latérales respectives de la coque se rejoignent, la proue présentant une partie supérieure qui, pendant l'utilisation du navire à des tirants d'eau opérationnels, est située au-dessus du niveau de l'eau; une partie inférieure qui, lors d'une utilisation à des tirants d'eau opérationnels, est située en dessous du niveau de l'eau; et une partie brise-glace intermédiaire qui, pendant l'utilisation à des tirants d'eau opérationnels, est située au niveau de l'eau, la partie intermédiaire de l'étrave étant inclinée à un angle inférieur ou égal à 45° par rapport à une ligne de flottaison, la partie inférieure de l'étrave comprenant une partie rebord faisant saillie vers l'avant.
