Abstract

L'invention concerne un système de traitement graphique selon lequel sont définis un volume englobant (20) représentant le volume d'une scène qui doit être rendu et une texture cubique (30) représentant la transparence de la surface du volume englobant. Ensuite, lorsque la scène doit être rendue pour être sortie, un vecteur (28) entre un point d'échantillonnage (25) qui est considéré, et une source de lumière (22) se trouvant à l'extérieur du volume englobant est déterminée et ensuite utilisée pour déterminer comment échantillonner la texture qui représente la transparence de la surface du volume englobant pour déterminer la transparence de la surface du volume englobant entre le point d'échantillonnage et la source de lumière. La transparence ainsi déterminée est ensuite utilisée pour simuler l'effet d'ombres projetées par la source de lumière externe (22) au niveau du point d'échantillonnage (25).
