Abstract
L'invention concerne un matériau polyuréthane (PU) ignifuge composé à partir d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs polyol (S) et d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs diisocyanate (H) et d'au moins un élément réactif diamine ou diol opérant comme un extenseur de chaîne (EXT) du polyuréthane (PU), un extenseur de chaîne au moins du matériau polyuréthane comprend un élément oligomère phosphoré (R2) d'une longueur (l) prédéfinie ayant une valeur comprise dans un intervalle de dispersion également prédéfini. L'invention concerne également les polyuréthanes (PU) obtenus par la mise en œuvre de la méthode.
Description
COMPOSE POLYURETHANE IGNIFUGE COMPRENANT DES
ELEMENTS OLIGOMERES PHOSPHORES DE LONGUEUR
CONTROLEE.
1. Domaine de l'Invention.
L'invention se rapporte au domaine des polymères et concerne plus particulièrement les polyuréthanes montrant des propriétés ignifuges.
2. Etat de l'art
Les polyuréthanes sont majoritairement obtenus par réaction exothermique entre un diisocyanate et un polyol. Ces produits sont le plus souvent issus de l'industrie pétrochimique, ce qui entraine une dépendance à l'accès au pétrole et aux coûts qui y sont associés.
Si la synthèse des polyuréthanes s'effectue généralement à partir de dérivés pétrochimiques, elle est toutefois possible à partir de polyols biosourcés notamment en provenance de caoutchouc naturel. Dans ce dernier cas, les matériaux présentent des propriétés spécifiques (élongation à rupture, compression, etc.)
Des matériaux polyuréthanes comprenant du phosphore sont connus pour être utilisés dans diverses applications, telles que, par exemple, pour des usages mettant en œuvre leurs propriétés adhésives ou encore ignifuges.
Il est alors intéressant de pouvoir fabriquer des polyuréthanes comprenant du phosphore pour disposer de matériaux ignifuges à partir d'élastomères biosourcés comme le caoutchouc naturel, par exemple.
Des composés comprenant des halogènes dominent le marché des matériaux ignifuges, pour des raisons de coût. Cependant des directives en matière de respect de l'environnement existent et visent à réduire l'utilisation de ces composés.
Dans ce contexte, les composés à base de phosphore apparaissent comme une alternative intéressante aux composés halogénés, en tant qu'agent ignifuge.
L'incorporation de composés à base de phosphore peut s'opérer de différentes manières. Il existe notamment deux méthodes principales respectivement nommées voie additive et voie réactive. La voie additive consiste à mélanger les composés phosphorés avec un polymère sans établir de liaisons covalentes entre ces deux éléments. Cette première méthode aboutit à un matériau susceptible de libérer des composés phosphorés entraînant une diminution progressive des propriétés ignifuges en même temps qu'une potentielle toxicité.
La seconde méthode, réactive, permet l'établissement de liaisons covalentes entre le polymère hôte et le composé phosphoré, ce qui évite la libération précédemment décrite de composés phosphorés et permet en outre de diminuer le pourcentage massique de composé phosphoré dans le polymère.
Les techniques connues d'insertion de composés phosphorés dans un polyuréthane décrivent l'adjonction de molécules phosphorées sur des éléments extenseurs de chaîne du polyuréthane ou encore sur le squelette carboné des segments du polyuréthane.
Un accroissement des capacités ignifugeantes d'un polyuréthane passe par une augmentation de la quantité de composé phosphoré dans ie matériau. La méthode additive permet d'ajouter des composés phosphorés, tout comme la méthode réactive, mais en étant plus facile à mettre en œuvre. Elle requiert cependant plus de quantité de composé phosphoré pour l'obtention de propriétés ignifugeantes identiques à celles obtenues par l'utilisation de la méthode réactive. La méthode additive entraîne cependant, une dégradation des propriétés mécaniques du matériau. 3. Résumé de l'invention.
L'invention permet d'améliorer au moins un des inconvénients de l'état de l'art, en proposant un matériau polyuréthane ignifuge composé à partir d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs polyol et d'une pluralité d'éléments
réactifs diisocyanate et d'au moins un élément réactif diamine ou diol opérant comme un extenseur de chaîne du polyuréthane. L'extenseur de chaîne du matériau polyuréthane comprend un élément oligomère phosphoré d'une longueur prédéfinie. La longueur prédéfinie ayant une valeur comprise dans un intervalle de dispersion lui aussi prédéfini.
Selon un mode de réalisation de l'invention, la longueur prédéfinie est déterminée par la masse molaire de l'oligomère phosphoré. Avantageusement, le réactif polyol est obtenu à partir de caoutchouc naturel ou de caoutchouc recyclé. Des variantes de caoutchouc recyclé pouvant être, par exemple, de type NBR (acronyme, de l'anglais « Nitrile Butadiene Rubber », pour caoutchouc butadiène-acrylonitrile en Français), SBR (acronyme, de l'anglais « Styrène Butadiene Rubber », pour caoutchouc styrène-butadiène) ou d'élastomères recyclés. Plus généralement tout type de caoutchouc de structure élastomère possédant dans sa chaîne structurelle des insaturations peut être utilisé.
Selon un mode de réalisation de l'invention, les éléments réactifs polyol sont des hydroxy telechelic natural rubber (HTNR, de l'anglais) ou caoutchouc liquide hydroxy téléchélique en Français.
Avantageusement, l'élément oligomère phosphoré est un poly- phosphonate ou un poly-phosphate synthétisé par la mise en œuvre d'une technique de polymérisation radicalaire contrôlée par transfert de chaîne réversible par addition-fragmentation encore appelée méthode RAFT (de l'anglais « Réversible Addition-Fragmentation chain Transfert », et qui signifie transfert de chaîne réversible par addition-fragmentation). Selon un mode de réalisation de l'invention, l'élément oligomère phosphoré a une masse molaire en nombre d'une valeur comprise entre 1000 et 6000 grammes par mole.
Avantageusement, la longueur prédéfinie de l'élément oligomère phosphoré présente un indice de polydispersité compris dans un intervalle de valeurs allant de 1 à 1.1 , ces valeurs extrêmes étant incluses à l'intervalle. L'invention concerne également la méthode de fabrication du matériau décrit ci-avant, à savoir une méthode de fabrication d'un matériau polyuréthane, cette méthode comprenant au moins une étape de mélange d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs polyo! et d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs diisocyanate, avec au moins un élément réactif diamine ou diol opérant comme un extenseur de chaîne du polyuréthane, et avec un catalyseur. La méthode comprend une étape de synthèse de l'élément extenseur de chaîne. L'élément extenseur de chaîne comprend au terme de la synthèse une chaîne d'éléments oligomères phosphores de longueur prédéfinie. La longueur prédéfinie a une valeur appartenant à un intervalle de dispersion lui aussi prédéfini.
Selon un mode de réalisation de l'invention, l'intervalle de dispersion est défini par un intervalle de dispersion de la masse molaire de l'oligomère phosphoré introduit au matériau.
Avantageusement, l'intervalle de dispersion de la masse molaire est compris entre les valeurs 1 et 1.1. Ces valeurs appartenant à l'intervalle.
Selon un mode de réalisation de l'invention, la chaîne d'oligomères phosphorés de longueur contrôlée est obtenue par la mise en œuvre d'une technique de polymérisation radicaiaire contrôlée par transfert de chaîne réversible par addition-fragmentation encore appelée méthode RAFT préalablement à la synthèse du polyuréthane. 4. L'invention sera mieux comprise, et d'autres particularités et avantages apparaîtront à la lecture de la description qui va suivre, la description faisant référence aux dessins annexés parmi lesquels :
la figure 1 représente une structure de polyuréthane selon l'art antérieur, telle que bien connue de l'homme du métier. la figure 2 illustre une structure de polyuréthane semblable à celle de la figure 1 mais comprenant en outre un extenseur de chaîne EXT, également selon l'art antérieur. la figure 3 représente une structure d'un matériau polyuréthane PU selon un mode de réalisation particulier et non limitatif de l'invention. la figure 4 est un diagramme représentant des étapes de la méthode selon un mode de réalisation particulier en non limitatif de l'invention. la figure 5 représente un monomère 2- acry!oyloxyethyldiethyl phosphate (ADEP) utilisé pour la méthode de synthèse d'un polyuréthane selon un mode de réalisation particulier en non limitatif de l'invention.
La figure 6 représente un poly-ADEP utilisé pour la méthode de synthèse du polyuréthane produit selon un mode de réalisation particulier et non limitatif de l'invention.
La figure 7 représente la formule développée d'un réactif de la synthèse du polyuréthane produit selon un mode de réalisation particulier en non limitatif de l'invention, issu d'une synthèse à partir de caoutchouc naturel.
5. Description détaillée de modes de réalisation de l'invention.
Sur les figures 1 à 7, les modules représentés sont des unités fonctionnelles, qui correspondent ou non à des unités physiquement distinguables. Par exemple, ces modules ou certains d'entre eux sont
regroupés dans un unique composant. A contrario, selon d'autres modes de réalisation, certains modules sont composés d'entités physiques séparées.
La figure 1 représente une structure de polyuréthane selon l'art antérieur, telle que bien connue de l'homme du métier.
Le matériau polyuréthane PU SA est constitué d'une répétition de n monomères MO. Chacun des monomères MO comprenant un segment dur H et un segment mou S. Le segment dur H est par exemple un diisocyanate et le segment souple S est par exemple un polyol.
La figure 2 représente une structure de polyuréthane PUSA2 comprenant un extenseur de chaîne EXT, également selon l'art antérieur et donc là aussi connue de l'homme du métier. Le segment dur H est par exemple un diisocyanate et l'élément mou S et par exemple un polyol. L'extenseur de chaîne EXT est un diol. La molécule M est, par exemple, une molécule de type groupement carboxylique utile à la réalisation de revêtements permettant de détecter des bactéries pathogènes.
L'utilisation d'extenseurs de chaîne de type EXT permet notamment l'introduction d'éléments autres que les monomères MO (S+H) précédemment cités et donc l'ajout d'une ou plusieurs fonctionnalités nouvelles. Une telle fonctionnalité peut être, par exemple l'introduction d'une propriété ignifuge au polyuréthane PUSA2. L'extenseur de chaîne EXT comprend dans l'exemple décrit sur cette figure une molécule M qui, en fonction de sa nature permet l'apport d'une propriété nouvelle du matériau PUSA2. A titre d'exemples, cette propriété nouvelle peut être une propriété anti-fouling si M est une molécule halogénée de type dérivé chloré ou encore une capacité de détection de bactéries pathogènes si M est un groupement carboxylique. La méthode d'établissement (synthèse) des liaisons chimiques respectivement présentes entres les segments H et S et entre ces segments et l'extenseur de chaîne EXT ne sont pas détaillées plus encore ici, car bien connues de l'homme du métier et n'étant pas utiles à la compréhension de l'invention.
La figure 3 représente une structure d'un polyuréthane PU selon un mode particulier et non limitatif de l'invention. Le polyuréthane PU comprend un extenseur de chaîne EXT. L'extenseur de chaîne EXT comprend une chaîne R2 d'éléments oligomères phosphorés d'une longueur L prédéfinie. Cette structure est obtenue par la mise en œuvre de la méthode de fabrication d'un polyuréthane selon l'invention. On entend ici par longueur prédéfinie, une longueur L étant définie par une utilisation de la méthode de polymérisation RAFT. En effet, la méthode RAFT cible une masse molaire prédéfinie, laquelle correspond à un nombre de répétitions de monomères (motifs unitaires), ce qui correspond en conséquence à une longueur moyenne L de chaîne de l'oligomère fabriqué, soit ici un oligomère phosphoré.
Selon le mode de réalisation préféré mais non limitatif de l'invention, le polyuréthane PU est synthétisé en deux étapes principales successives S1 et S2. Une première synthèse S1 permet d'obtenir les éléments d'oligomère phosphoré R2. Une seconde synthèse S2, postérieure à la synthèse S1 correspond à la synthèse finale du polyuréthane PU. il est à noter que l'oligomère phosphoré R2 produit par la mise en œuvre de la synthèse réalisée à l'étape S1 est utilisé comme élément réactif de la synthèse à l'étape S2.
Les paragraphes suivants décrivent des éléments (constituants ou réactifs) selon une terminologie reprenant leur dénomination en anglais, afin d'améliorer la lisibilité de la méthode décrite, et dans le but de respecter certains usages.
La synthèse de l'oligomère phosphoré R2 permet l'obtention du poly-ADEP (oligomère R2) tel que représenté figure 6. L'oligomère R2 est synthétisé par la mise en œuvre de la méthode RAFT selon le protocole ci- après :
Un monomère 2-acryloyloxyethyldiethyl phosphate (ADEP) est d'abord synthétisé selon une méthode bien connue de l'homme du métier. Ce monomère est illustré Figure 5 dans sa formule développée. La mise en œuvre de la méthode de synthèse RAFT utilise comme agent RAFT le 2-((1 ,3-dihydroxypropan-2-yloxy)carbonyl)propan-2-yl dodecylcarbonotrithioate. Ce dernier est obtenu par estérification de Stegtisft via l'utilisation d'un agent de couplage Dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) et l'utilisation du catalyseur 4-diméthylaminopyridine (DMAP).
Aux fins d'obtenir le polymère poly-ADEP recherché, l'agent RAFT précédemment décrit (1 .00 g, 1 .50 mmol), le monomère ADEP (9.45 g, 37.48 mmol), et l'azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) (49.2 mg, 0.3 mmol) sont introduits en présence de toluène et de dimethylformamide (DMF) (0.1 ml_) dans un Shlenk sous agitation magnétique et sous argon, à 60 °C, pendant 4 heures. Le toluène et le DMF sont ensuite éliminés à l'aide d'un évaporateur rotatif sous pression réduite avant que le polymère ne soit alors purifié par une série de précipitations dans un mélange éther/hexane, filtré et séché dans un four sous vide à 40 °C.
Un hydroxy telechelic natural rubber (HTNR) issu de caoutchouc naturel est synthétisé préalablement à la réalisation de l'étape S2 de synthèse finale du polyuréthane PU. Cette synthèse à partir du caoutchouc n'est pas détaillée plus encore dans ces lignes car elle n'est pas, en elle- même, utile à la compréhension de la méthode selon l'invention.
La figure 7 représente la formule développée de l'hydroxy telechelic natural rubber (HTNR) issu d'une synthèse à partir du caoutchouc naturel.
A l'étape S2, une synthèse globale (ou finale) du polyuréthane PU est réalisée par la mise en oeuvre d'une méthode dite « one s/?ot». L'hydroxy telechelic natural rubber HTNR (Mn=4058 g/mol, 14.25 g), le toluène diisocyanate (TDS) (0.74 g, 1 .2 équivalent), le poly-ADEP (1 % w/w) et le
catalyseur dibutyltin dilaurate (0.03% w/w) sont introduits dans un ballon à fond plat et dissous dans du tétrahydrofurane (THF) (30 % w/v) et sous agitation magnétique. Ce mélange est ensuite versé dans un moule en Téflon de 15*15 cm avant d'être introduit dans un four à 40°C pendant de longues heures (typiquement plus de dix heures).
Selon une première variante du mode de réalisation, le monomère 2-acryloyloxyethyldiethyl phosphate (ADEP) utilisé pour la méthode de synthèse du polyuréthane PU est remplacé par un monomère phosphonate. Selon une seconde variante du mode de réalisation, le poly-ADEP utilisé pour la méthode de synthèse du polyuréthane PU est remplacé par un polymère phosphonate Poiy-DEAMP.
La figure 4 est une représentation macroscopique de la séquence S1 , S2 des étapes de la méthode selon un mode de réalisation particulier et non limitatif de l'invention. L'étape S0 est une étape initiale de préparation des produits utiles à la synthèse du polyuréthane PU et comprend notamment la phase de définition de la longueur moyenne de chaîne R2 recherchée, qui passe par la définition d'une masse molaire cible de l'oligomère phosphoré à synthétiser dans le polyuréthane PU. L'étape Si consiste en la mise en uvre de la méthode de polymérisation RAFT qui va permettre la synthèse des éléments d'oligomère phosphoré R2 (encore appelés éléments R2) ayant pour caractéristique, entre autres, une longueur de chaîne moyenne contrôlée étant directement fonction de la masse molaire recherchée en aboutissement de la méthode RAFT mise en œuvre. L'étape S2 consiste en la polymérisation du polyuréthane PU par la voie réactive, c'est-à-dire avec la création de liaisons covalentes entre les différents réactifs. En d'autres termes et selon le mode de réalisation décrit, la méthode selon l'invention permet avantageusement la fabrication du matériau polyuréthane PU composé à partir d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs souples polyol S et d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs durs
diisocyanate H et d'au moins un élément réactif EXT, diamine ou diol, opérant comme un extenseur de chaîne du polyuréthane PU, de sorte qu'au moins un extenseur de chaîne EXT du polyuréthane PU obtenu (fabriqué) comprenne un élément du type de l'oligomère phosphoré R2 de la longueur L prédéfinie dans un intervalle de dispersion DL prédéfini. La longueur L prédéfinie est déterminée par la masse molaire en nombre de l'oligomère phosphoré R2, comme paramètre d'entrée de la méthode de synthèse RAFT. Les éléments réactifs souples polyol S sont des hydroxy teiechelic natural rubber obtenus à partir de caoutchouc naturel. L'élément oligomère phosphoré R2 est un poly-phosphonate ou un poly-phosphate synthétisé par la mise en œuvre d'une technique de polymérisation radicalaire contrôlée par transfert de chaîne réversible par addition-fragmentation RAFT. A titre d'exemple, sa masse molaire en nombre à une valeur comprise entre 1000 et 6000 grammes par mole. La méthode de fabrication du matériau polyuréthane PU selon l'invention comprend au moins l'étape S2 de mélange des d'éléments réactifs souples polyol S et des éléments réactifs durs diisocyanate H, avec le réactif diamine ou diol EXT qui opère comme extenseur de chaîne de PU, et d'un catalyseur. La méthode comprend également l'étape de synthèse S1 , préalable à S2, de l'extenseur de chaîne EXT lequel comprend au terme de cette synthèse S1 au moins une chaîne R2 d'éléments oligomères phosphorés de la longueur L précédemment définie par la masse molaire recherchée. L'intervalle de dispersion DL longueur des chaînes de R2 est défini à partir de l'intervalle de dispersion de la masse molaire de R2. Par exemple, l'intervalle de dispersion de la masse molaire de R2 a une valeur supérieure ou égale à 1 et inférieure ou égale à 1 .1.
Avantageusement, la méthode de fabrication selon l'invention permet une optimisation de la quantité et de la répartition des éléments oligomères phosphorés R2 dans le matériau polyuréthane PU ainsi produit.
Plus précisément, la capacité d'insérer des éléments R2 d'oligomère phosphoré par la synthèse de chaînes de longueur moyenne L
contrôlée permet une distribution optimale de ces éléments dans le matériau polyuréthane PU.
Des expériences réalisées en laboratoire ont mis en évidence le fait que les capacités ignifugeantes du matériau PU ainsi fabriqué sont accrues pour un intervalle donné de longueur de chaîne L de l'oligomère phosphoré R2.
L'efficacité en matière de propriété de retardateur de flammes du matériau PU fabriqué par la mise en œuvre de la méthode selon l'invention, en fonction de la longueur moyenne L des chaînes d'oligomère phosphoré R2, et donc de la masse molaire ciblée de R2 par sa synthèse au moyen de la méthode de synthèse RAFT, peut être représentée par une courbe en forme de cloche. En effet, lorsque la longueur L des chaînes d'oligomère phosphoré R2 croît jusqu'à une valeur seuil, la performance de retardateur de flammes du matériau PU croît également jusqu'à un maximum. Puis, lorsque la longueur des chaînes de R2 continue de croître au-delà de cette valeur seuil, la performance de retardateur de flamme du matériau PU décroît. Grâce à l'utilisation de la méthode selon l'invention, les capacités ignifugeantes du matériau PU ainsi produit (fabriqué par la mise en œuvre de la méthode selon l'invention) sont accrues pour des caractéristiques mécaniques équivalentes par rapport aux matériaux disponibles selon l'art antérieur (soit obtenus par voie réactive avec une molécule greffée sur un extenseur de chaîne ou un segment mou d'un polyuréthane).
L'invention ne se limite pas au seul mode de réalisation décrit ci- avant mais concerne bien évidemment tout polyuréthane composé à partir d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs souples, d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs durs et d'au moins un élément réactif opérant comme un extenseur de chaîne utilisant l'introduction d'extenseurs de chaînes pour l'insertion d'éléments d'un oligomère phosphoré d'une longueur moyenne prédéfinie et contrôlée. La longueur de chaîne contrôlée ayant une valeur comprise dans un intervalle de dispersion également prédéfini.
Claims
1. Matériau polyuréthane (PU) ignifuge composé à partir d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs polyol (S) et d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs diisocyanate (H) et d'au moins un élément réactif diamine ou diol opérant comme un extenseur de chaîne (EXT) dudit polyuréthane, caractérisé en ce que ledit au moins un extenseur de chaîne (EXT) dudit matériau polyuréthane (PU) comprend un élément oligomère phosphoré (R2) d'une longueur (Z) prédéfinie ladite longueur (Z) ayant une valeur comprise dans un intervalle de dispersion prédéfini.
2. Matériau polyuréthane (PU) selon la revendication précédente caractérisé en ce que ladite longueur (Z) prédéfinie est déterminée par la masse molaire en nombre dudit oligomère phosphoré (R2).
3. Matériau polyuréthane (PU) l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que ledit réactif polyol (S) est obtenu à partir de caoutchouc naturel ou de caoutchouc recyclé.
4. Matériau polyuréthane (PU) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que lesdits éléments réactifs polyol (S) sont des caoutchoucs liquides hydroxy téléchéliques de formule :

Matériau poiyuréthane (PU) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que ledit élément oligomère phosphoré (R2) est un poly-phosphonate ou un poly-phosphate synthétisé par la mise en œuvre d'une technique de polymérisation radicalaire contrôlée par transfert de chaîne réversible par addition-fragmentation encore appelée méthode RAFT.
6. Matériau poiyuréthane (PU) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que ledit élément oligomère phosphoré (R2) a une masse molaire en nombre d'une valeur comprise entre 1000 et 6000 grammes par mole.
7. Matériau poiyuréthane (PU) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que ladite longueur (L) prédéfinie dudit élément oligomère phosphoré (R2) a une caractéristique de dispersion prédéfinie.
8. Méthode de fabrication d'un matériau poiyuréthane, ladite méthode comprenant au moins une étape (S2) de mélange d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs polyol (S) et d'une pluralité d'éléments réactifs diisocyanate (H), d'au moins un élément réactif diamine ou diol opérant comme un extenseur (EXT) de chaîne dudit poiyuréthane, et d'un catalyseur, ladite méthode étant caractérisée en ce qu'elle comprend une étape de synthèse (S1 ) dudit élément extenseur de chaîne (EXT) lequel comprend au terme de ladite synthèse (S1 ) une chaîne (R2) d'éléments oligomères phosphorés de longueur (L) prédéfinie, ladite longueur (l) prédéfinie ayant une valeur appartenant à un intervalle de dispersion prédéfini.
9. Méthode de fabrication d'un matériau poiyuréthane selon la revendication précédente, caractérisé en ce que ledit intervalle de dispersion est défini par un intervalle de dispersion de la masse molaire dudit oligomère phosphoré.
10. Méthode de fabrication d'un matériau polyuréthane selon la revendication précédente, caractérisé en ce que ledit intervalle de dispersion de ladite masse molaire est compris entre les valeurs 1 et 1.1 incluses.

Méthode selon l'une quelconque des revendications 9 à 10, caractérisée en ce que ladite chaîne d'oligomères phosphorés de longueur contrôlée est obtenue par la mise en œuvre d'une technique de polymérisation radicalaire contrôlée par transfert de chaîne réversible par addition-fragmentation encore appelée méthode RAFT préalablement à ladite synthèse.
