Furthermore, the present invention relates to a system consisting of the portion capsule according to the invention and a beverage production machine.
- portion capsules are known from the prior art and are used for beverage production. Because there are a variety of different beverage capsules, such as coffee, espresso, tea or milk capsules, all of which fit into the same beverage manufacturing machines, it is desirable for the consumer when the beverage maker recognizes the particular portion capsule and performs a corresponding beverage manufacturing process. In this case, for example, the water temperature, the amount of water, the water pressure and / or flow rate can be varied over time in the capsule.
- the portion capsules according to the prior art have the disadvantage that the identifier, especially in the brewing chamber is only comparatively difficult and / or unreliable to read.
- the object is achieved with a portion capsule, with a capsule body, the side wall and the bottom of which form a cavity in which a beverage and / or food substrate is provided and which is closed by a membrane provided on the capsule body and which is used to produce a beverage.

Preferably, the identifier repeats several times along the circumference of the side wall, so that the identifier can be read in the beverage and / or food processing machine regardless of the rotation angle of the portion capsule.
- the identifier is provided as a coding, in particular a coding consisting of light and dark fields.
- the respective coding is deposited in the arrangement of the light and dark fields.
- the coding comprises a plurality of segments arranged side by side, in particular with one another, i. E. the segments are provided as a strand substantially parallel to the longitudinal extent of the portion capsule side by side, wherein the longitudinal extent of the distance between the membrane and the bottom of the portion capsule is.
- the strands preferably represent separate, separate spatial units, which touch at most in a point or a line but do not overlap. Particularly Favor however, there is a distance between the strands.
- Each segment of a strand preferably contains a different coding.
- the coding of a segment contains information about the type of substrate in the portion capsule.
- Another segment contains codes about the amount of liquid to be used.
- Another segment contains a coding which has information about the liquid temperature to be set.
- Another additional segment may still contain codes about the volume flow of the liquid over time during the brewing process. This is particularly interesting for substrates, for example tea, in which the brewing process contains one or more so-called drawing phases, in which the liquid volume flow is reduced or even zeroed.
- the individual segments are provided in the interspace of two intersecting and / or touching virtual or actually existing curves.
- the two curves also determine the shape of the segments of a strand.
- the segments of a strand may be the same or different. In each case, a contact or a section of the two curves is provided between two segments. For n segments there are therefore n-1 touches or cuts.
- the curves may actually be recognizable to the human eye and / or the detection means or not.

This is particularly interesting for substrates, for example tea, in which the brewing process contains one or more so-called drawing phases, in which the liquid volume flow is reduced or even zeroed.
- Each strand with the segments extends substantially parallel to the axis of symmetry of the portion capsule.
- axis along the longest extension of the strand is inclined by the cone angle of the side wall relative to the axis of symmetry of the portion capsule.
- the identifier has a plurality of strands that are simultaneously read out by a detection means, in particular a camera means.
- the viewing window of the detection means accordingly detects several, in particular two or three, strands simultaneously.
- the identifier of each individual strand and / or the coding of each segment is read out separately.
- some, in particular all, strands have the same identifier, so that the identifier and thus the read-out coding are present and read redundantly.
- This preferred embodiment of the portion capsule according to the invention has the advantage that if one or more segments of a strand are damaged or occupied by substrate or water vapor, the coding is still present in at least one further strand and thus can be detected by the detection means.
- the identifier has three adjacent strands. In this preferred embodiment, the read coding from at least two strands will be compared. This increases the certainty that the code read out was correctly recognized by the detection means.
- a computer means connected to the detection means compares the read-out coding, in particular its image, for example the arrangement of light and dark areas in a segment, with the images stored in a memory. With the deposited images is a certain information content, for example, connected to the nature of the substrate.
- the computer means assigns to the capsule this information, i.
- the computer means knows, for example, that in the portion capsule is a substrate for producing an espresso and / or knows it is the portion capsule with water at a certain temperature and / or a certain amount and / or to flow through in a certain interval.
- the sequence of segments of adjacent strands is alternately provided, i. the segment closest to one strand of the cap membrane is closest to the bottom of the capsule body in the adjacent strand and the segment closest to one strand of the cap membrane is in the adjacent strand to the bottom of the capsule body second closest etc
- the read-out reliability of the coding is increased once more. If all segments in the upper area, i. in the region which is closest to the cover membrane, be unreadable, the detection means from the lowest segment of the adjacent strand read the coding.
- the codes of adjacent strands may be mirrored at a plane transverse to the axis of symmetry.
- the identifier is preferably repeated along the circumference of the capsule body and more preferably extends around the entire capsule body.
- the distance between the strands is preferably chosen so that the identifier is the same everywhere on the circumference us thus can be read independently of the rotation angle of the portion capsule.
- the coding in an actually or virtually existing grid structure is provided in the spaces between the two curves of a strand.
- an actual existing Raster Weg is the grid for the detection means and / or visible to the human eye.
- the coding then consists, for example, of white and dark fields within the grid structure, which are arranged in a certain shape relative to one another. In a virtual raster structure, the raster is not visible to either the detection means or the human eye.
- the elements of the coding are arranged within a grid.
- the coding consists of rectangular or square elements, which preferably have an edge length of 0.4 - 0.6 mm.
- Elements of a different shape may serve as a boundary for the identifier and / or as a boundary between the segments of a string.
- parts of the grid are visible as a contrast on a corresponding background.
- a bright line on a dark background or vice versa Preferably, the coding per segment consists of at least eight dark fields on a light background.

- this section is provided as a triangle, in particular as a dark triangle in the immediate vicinity of but spaced from the stack edge and / or a stiffening ring.
- a mirror-symmetrical triangle is provided as the boundary of the strand, which is preferably located in the vicinity of a circumferential reinforcing ring in the side wall adjacent to the bottom of the capsule body.
- an intersection or a touch of the two curves of a strand serves as a transition region / boundary between two segments.
- the detection means recognizes this point of intersection / touch or a geometric figure in the region of the point of intersection or touch, for example two triangles, one in each adjacent segment, touching in a vertex of each triangle and knowing that at that point a segment stops and a new one starts.
- the curves are part of the identifier.
- the detection means thus recognizes the curves and the curves may, for example, represent the boundary for the coding and / or be part of the coding.
- the function of the curve and / or the line width of the curve may be part of the coding of the segments.
- the computer means compares an image of the curves and the coding provided between the curves with a stored image and checks it for agreement.
- a plurality of intermediate spaces are provided in which at least partially a visually, recognizable to the human eye information is stored.
- This information is therefore recognizable to the human eye.
- the information is a coffee bean or a milk jug so that the user knows that the substrate is coffee or milk powder in the portion capsule.
- a coding about the nature of the beverage and / or food substrate and in at least one other segment a coding on the desired temperature of the liquid and / or the desired liquid quantity and / or the target liquid amount stored per time.
- the coding is provided distorted along a strand.
- This preferred embodiment of the present invention takes into account the fact that in a conical side wall of the capsule body whose radius of curvature changes over the height.
- the codings in two adjacent strands must be represented differently to account for the distortion.
- Yet another object of the present invention is a system consisting of a portion capsule according to the invention or preferred and a beverage and / or food production machine, which has a detection means which reads the identifier.
- This object of the present invention relates to a system consisting of the above-described portion capsule and a beverage and / or food manufacturing machine, in which the portion capsule is introduced to produce a food or drink, for example by a liquid, in particular hot water, through the portion capsule and thereby extract and / or dissolve the substrate present in the portion capsule.
- the beverage and / or food production machine has a detection means, for example a camera, which reads out the identifier and, for example, forwards an image to a computer means which is equipped, for example, with image recognition software.
- the computer means evaluates the received image, for example by comparing it with stored images, each associated with information. As soon as the computer means detects a sufficient correspondence between the detected and the stored image, it assigns the information to the portion capsule. It then knows, for example, that there is coffee in the portion capsule as a substrate.
- the computer means knows, for example, which temperature the liquid flowing through should have and adjusts the setpoint values of the control accordingly.
- the identifier determines the amount of liquid which is to flow through the portion capsule and in turn determines the corresponding desired value from the computer means.
- Other parameters for which coding may be present may be the fluid pressure and / or the amount of fluid versus time.
- the detection means is provided in or on or in front of a brewing chamber of the beverage and / or food production machine.
- the detection means is preferably between these two parts, particularly preferably in the region of the path, which covers a part when closing the brewing chamber.
- the movable part pushes the portion capsule into the static part of the brewing chamber and closes it.
- the identifier of the portion capsule is then preferably read out.
- the identifier is therefore read out by the detection means when the brewing chamber is open, for example before and / or while the brewing chamber is being closed.
- a lighting means is provided which, for example, at least a section of the outer circumference of the side wall of the Capsule body illuminated, in particular the cutout, the side wall of the portion capsule having the identifier.
- the detection means is provided at a right angle to the side wall of the portion capsule.
- the detection means is provided in the region of the middle of the height of the capsule wall.
- the detection means has a viewing window of 300 - 400 mm 2 .
- the distance of the detection means from the capsule wall is preferably 25-35 mm.
- the viewing window of the detection means detects three strands simultaneously. Each of these strands is evaluated and the information read out compared. This provides redundancy on the one hand, and some error compensation on the other hand, because the computer means can supplement codings which are missing in one strand because they are damaged or concealed with the coding from other strands.
- the detection means or a connected computer means are connected to an image recognition software, which compares the image of the read-out identifier with stored in a storage means images of identifiers and / or codes. Each segment can preferably be evaluated individually.
- the software also recognizes at which position within a string the respective coding is located and evaluates the respective coding individually or as a string.
- an existing controller will control the beverage and / or food manufacturing process in some manner as described above.
- FIG. 1 shows the portion capsule 1 according to the invention, which has a capsule body 2 with a side wall 28 and a bottom 23.
- the capsule body 2 may be deep drawn or injection molded from a plastic film.
- the side wall 28, which is conical in the present case, but may also be cylindrical
- the bottom 23 is a cavity spanned, in which there is a substrate with which a beverage, such as a coffee, tea or milk beverage can be prepared by, as shown by the arrows 26 and 27, a liquid stream is passed through the portion capsule.
- the cavity may still be a filter element which retains particles of the substrate, as well as a liquid distributor, which distributes the inflowing liquid 26 over the cross section of the portion capsule.
- the side wall 28 has a flange to which a membrane 3 is attached, preferably sealed, which closes the cavity after filling with the substrate and optionally with the filter element or liquid distributor.
- this membrane 3 is pierced by an opening means, so that the liquid, in particular hot water, can flow into the capsule.
- the bottom 23 of the capsule body is pierced to produce the beverage with an opening means, so that from the bottom 23, as shown by the arrow 27, the finished beverage can flow out of the portion capsule.
- the portion capsule then has a stacking edge 4 on the flange, which has a larger diameter than the adjoining side wall 28.
- a stiffening ring 5 is preferably provided directly underneath the stacking edge.
- a further stiffening ring 5 is preferably provided in the side wall 28 in the vicinity of the bottom 23. These stiffening rings 5 give the side wall an additional rigidity, so that it does not deform unnecessarily when inserted into a brewing chamber and / or during the production of the beverage. The rings 5 also reduce the contact surface between the portion capsule and the brewing chamber, so that it can be more easily removed from the brewing chamber after the production of the beverage.
- an identifier 6 is provided, which has a coding, by which the drinks and / or food processing machine, in which the capsule is inserted, for example, recognizes which substrate in the portion capsule is present and what parameters must be set for the production of the food and / or drink.
- the identifier preferably consists of the three strands I-III shown here, these three strands repeating along the entire circumference of the portion capsule. The distance between the strands is provided so that the identifier of a detection means 30 can be read independently of the angular position of the portion capsule.
- a detection means is preferably aligned perpendicular to the side wall 28 to avoid distortion.
- the detection means for example a camera takes a picture of the identifier 6, the thereafter, for example is processed by a software that compares the captured image of the identifier with deposited images.
- the strands of the identifier are preferably aligned parallel to the axis of symmetry of the portion capsule. They are at most inclined by the cone angle of the side wall with respect to the axis of symmetry.
- Figure 2 shows the identifier 6.
- the identifier has at least one strand I to III, each of which consists of several, here four, segments 10 to 13.
- the segments are delimited by two curves 7, 8, for example sinusoids, which intersect and / or touch at constant or varying distances.
- the coding containing the relevant information is recorded in the space 9, i. arranged in the area between the two curves 7, 8.
- the identifier consists not only of one, but as shown here of three strands, wherein the sequence of coding elements, which is symbolized by the arrow 18, turns from one to the adjacent strand; i.e. the coding at the top of the left strand is at the very bottom of the middle strand and at the top in the right strand.
- FIG. 21 and 22 An exemplary coding is shown in FIG. By the arrows 21 and 22, the orientation of the identifier is shown relative to the portion capsule.
- the coding of the individual segments is provided in the space between the two curves 7, 8 of a strand.
- the coding is provided by the arrangement of dark and light areas within a grid structure 16, which may or may not be visible to the detection means.
- the curves 7, 8 can also be part of the coding.
- the uppermost segment 10 of the left identifier includes, for example, a coding over the substrate.
- the following segment for example, has a coding on the temperature of the liquid to be selected and the subsequent segment in turn, for example, a coding on the amount of liquid to be used.
- the lowermost segment of the left strand has, for example, a coding over the interval to be selected, ie the liquid supply over time.
- This information is particularly important for the production of tea, where there should be a so-called drawing phase after introducing a certain amount of liquid, within which the tea leaves can soak with water and within which there is no or only a very greatly reduced fluid intake.
- the uppermost segment of the left strand contains the same coding 20 as the lowest segment in the middle strand, the coding being mirrored at the centerline of the segments, the reflection being optional.
- the strand on the far right again has the same arrangement as the strand on the left. Furthermore, it can be seen from FIG.
- the coding has boundary surfaces, in this case triangles, which signal to a detection means 30 where a strand begins and where it ends again.
- boundary surfaces in this case triangles, which signal to a detection means 30 where a strand begins and where it ends again.
- Such boundaries for example also boundary surfaces, are present between the segments by transition regions 19, which in turn signal to the detection means where a segment begins and where a segment ends.
- the detection means preferably analyzes three strands simultaneously and in particular each segment individually. Should a segment of a string be damaged or covered, the software connected to the detection means extracts this information from the adjacent strand (s). Since these segments with identical identifiers are relatively far apart, the probability that this segment is also damaged or covered is relatively low. Between two adjacent strands I-III, a gap 24 may be present, in which a visually recognizable information 24 may be stored. In the present case, it is a stylized coffee bean, so the user knows that there is coffee in the portion capsule as a substrate.
