Zirconia powder has been sought.
- a sintered body Before obtaining a sintered body, it is usually necessary to press the powder by press molding or the like to produce a green compact, that is, a molded body, and then sinter this molded body. In this molding process, The characteristics of are greatly affected. In order to obtain a sintered body having a high sintered density and high strength, it is necessary to reduce defects and density unevenness in the molded body and to make the molded body have a higher density. In the press molding process, it is important to reduce friction with the mold wall surface during molding and to reduce friction between powder particles.
- the present invention has been made in view of the above, and an object of the present invention is to provide a zirconia powder having excellent moldability, a high sintered density, and capable of producing a zirconia sintered body by a simple method and a method for producing the same.

Moreover, since the said zirconia powder has high molding density, it is suitable for various molding methods, such as press molding, injection molding, casting molding, and sheet molding.
- “powder” is formed to include primary particles as a minimum constituent unit. All or a part of the primary particles are aggregated to form secondary particles. Therefore, “powder” in the present specification refers to a form formed by including secondary particles as constituent elements. Since the secondary particles may include non-aggregated primary particles, strictly speaking, the “powder” is formed including primary particles and / or secondary particles as constituent elements.
- the primary particle diameter means the diameter of the primary particle itself
- the secondary particle diameter means the diameter of the secondary particle itself
- the average particle diameter of the powder means the average particle diameter of secondary particles contained in the powder unless otherwise specified.
- the zirconia powder according to this embodiment contains zirconia as a main component.
- the zirconia powder includes primary particles containing zirconia as a main component.
- the zirconia powder can be mainly formed by secondary particles formed by agglomerating primary particles mainly composed of the zirconia.
- the zirconia powder according to the present embodiment contains 2 to 6 mol% of yttria with respect to the total molar amount of the powder in addition to zirconia which is the main component.
- Yttria can be present in solid solution with zirconia. If the content ratio of yttria is 2 mol% or more, it is possible to prevent the monoclinic phase ratio from becoming excessive in the sintered body of zirconia powder. In other words, by suppressing the propagation of cracks with a large volume expansion due to the phase transition from the tetragonal phase to the monoclinic phase, it is possible to suppress a decrease in fracture toughness of the zirconia sintered body.
- the content ratio of yttria with respect to the total molar amount of the powder is preferably 2 to 5 mol%, particularly preferably 2 to 4 mol%.
- the other preferable yttria content is 3 to 6 mol% with respect to the total molar amount of the powder, and in this range, a cubic phase with little optical anisotropy is formed, so that it has excellent translucency.
- a zirconia sintered body can be obtained.
- the zirconia powder according to the present embodiment can contain aluminum oxide (alumina) as necessary.
- the content of alumina is not particularly limited, and can be, for example, 0.005 to 2% by mass with respect to the total mass of the zirconia powder.
- the zirconia powder contains alumina, the sinterability of the zirconia powder is improved and the crystal structure is easily made uniform.
- the zirconia powder contains alumina, it is easy to suppress a decrease in fracture toughness of the zirconia sintered body.
- the content of alumina is adjusted, the translucency of the zirconia sintered body can be improved.
- the content of alumina is preferably 0.01 to 1.5% by mass, more preferably 0.03 to 1.2% by mass, based on the total mass of the zirconia powder.
- alumina is not particularly limited. Alumina powder is preferred from the standpoint of reducing handling properties and impurity remaining during the preparation of zirconia powder.
- the average particle diameter of the primary particles of alumina is not particularly limited, and can be, for example, 0.02 to 0.4 ⁇ m, preferably 0.05 to 0.3 ⁇ m, and more preferably Is 0.07 to 0.2 ⁇ m.
- the zirconia powder according to the present embodiment may include other components as a substitute for a part of yttria.
- Other components include rare earth oxides such as calcia and magnesia alkaline earth metal oxides and ceria. This is because characteristics such as pore volume of zirconia powder are not easily affected by the additive element.
- the zirconia powder of this embodiment requires an yttria component, even a powder that does not contain an yttria component may have the same action as the zirconia powder of this embodiment.
- the zirconia powder according to the present embodiment has a pore volume with a pore diameter of 200 nm or less in the range of 0.14 to 0.28 mL / g.
- the pore diameter here refers to the size of voids in secondary particles formed by aggregation of primary particles.
- the pore diameter can be measured by a mercury intrusion method using “Auto Pore IV (manufactured by Micromeritics)”. For example, the pore diameter can be calculated by analysis software attached to the apparatus.
- the pore volume of 200 nm or less is less than 0.14 mL / g, the aggregation of the primary particles is too strong, so that the secondary particles become coarse and the sinterability decreases.
- the pore volume of 200 nm or less exceeds 0.28 mL / g, since the aggregation of primary particles is weak, the molding density of the molded body is low, and a sintered body with a high sintering density cannot be obtained.
- the pore volume of 200 nm or less is preferably 0.15 to 0.27 mL / g, and more preferably 0.16 to 0.27 mL / g.
- the pore volume of a size exceeding 200 nm indicates a void between secondary particles, such a large void is not related to the aggregation degree of the primary particles.
- the pore volume can be measured by a mercury intrusion method using a commercially available mercury porosimeter.
- the primary particle size of the zirconia powder of this embodiment is 50 nm to 200 nm
- the voids in the secondary particles formed by aggregation of the primary particles that is, the pore size between the primary particles tends to be 200 nm or less.
- the degree of aggregation of the primary particles constituting the secondary particles can be controlled. If the value of the pore volume is small, the voids in the secondary particles are small and the aggregation of the primary particles becomes strong. Therefore, a molded body obtained from a powder having a small pore volume value tends to have a high molding density because the primary particles constituting the secondary particles are densely packed.
- the zirconia powder according to the present embodiment has a pore volume in a specific range as described above, so that the cohesiveness of the primary particles constituting the secondary particles is improved as compared with the conventionally known zirconia powder, The coarsening of the primary particles can also be suppressed. Therefore, controlling the pore volume having a pore diameter of 200 nm or less within the above range suppresses the coarsening of the primary particles while strengthening the aggregation of the primary particles themselves. Thereby, the zirconia powder according to the present embodiment has excellent characteristics, and is particularly excellent in moldability of the zirconia powder.
- the average particle diameter of secondary particles contained in the zirconia powder according to the present embodiment (hereinafter simply referred to as the average particle diameter of zirconia powder) is not particularly limited.
- the average particle diameter of the zirconia powder can be 0.3 to 0.8 ⁇ m. If the average particle diameter of the zirconia powder is in the above range, a molded body having a high molding density can be easily obtained, and a decrease in sinterability and sintering density can be easily suppressed. Further, if the average particle diameter of the zirconia powder is within the above range, it is not necessary to lengthen the pulverization time in the pulverization step.
- the average particle diameter of the zirconia powder is 0.8 ⁇ m or less, the monoclinic phase in the powder does not increase so much that a sintered body having a high sintering density is easily obtained.
- the average particle diameter of the zirconia powder is preferably 0.32 to 0.75 ⁇ m, more preferably 0.35 to 0.75 ⁇ m.
- the average particle size of the secondary particles contained in the zirconia powder can be measured with a commercially available laser diffraction particle size analyzer.
- the specific surface area of the zirconia powder according to the present embodiment is not particularly limited.
- the specific surface area of the zirconia powder can be set to 5 to 20 m 2 / g. In this case, a molded body having a high molding density is easily obtained, and the sinterability and the decrease in the sintering density are easily suppressed.
- the specific surface area of the zirconia powder can be preferably 6 to 18 m 2 / g, more preferably 6.5 to 15 m 2 / g.
- the specific surface area of the zirconia powder referred to in this specification refers to the BET specific surface area, and can be measured by the BET method using a commercially available specific surface area meter.
- the zirconia powder according to this embodiment has a relative molding density of 44 to 55% when molded at a molding pressure of 1 t / cm 2 .
- the relative molding density is a value calculated by the following formula (1).
- Relative molding density (%) (molding density / theoretical sintering density) ⁇ 100 (1)
- (a [rho 0) theoretical sintered density is a value calculated by the following equation (2-1).
- ⁇ 0 100 / [(Y / 3.987) + (100 ⁇ Y) / ⁇ z] (2-1)
- ⁇ z is a value calculated by the following equation (2-2).
- ⁇ z [124.25 (100 ⁇ X) + 225.81X] /[150.5(100+X)A 2 C] (2-2)
- X and Y are the yttria concentration (mol%) and the alumina concentration (wt%), respectively.
- a and C are values calculated by the following equations (2-3) and (2-3), respectively.
- A 0.5080 + 0.06980X / (100 + X) (2-3)
- C 0.5195-0.06180X / (100 + X) (2-4)
- equation (1) the theoretical sintered density varies depending on the composition of the powder.
- the theoretical sintered density of yttria-containing zirconia is 6.112 g / cm 3 if the yttria content is 2 mol%, 5.5 mol% if it is 6.092 g / cm 3 if it is 3 mol%. If present, it is 6.045 g / cm 3 .

Description

ρ0=100/[(Y/3.987)+(100-Y)/ρz]・・・(2-1)
ただし,ρzは,下記式(2-2)によって算出される値である。
ρz=[124.25(100-X)+225.81X]
/[150.5(100+X)A2C]・・・(2-2)
ここで,X及びYはそれぞれ,イットリア濃度(モル%)及びアルミナ濃度(重量%)である。また,A及びCはそれぞれ,下記式(2-3)及び(2-3)によって算出される値である。
A=0.5080+0.06980X/(100+X)・・・(2-3)
C=0.5195-0.06180X/(100+X)・・・(2-4)
