Definitions
- the invention relates to an arrangement with a piston of an internal combustion engine, comprising an upper part and a piston shaft adjoining the upper part, wherein furthermore a piston pin is fixed to the piston for operative connection with a connecting rod, according to the features of the preamble of claim 1.
- the invention relates to a piston, in particular of a steel material, which in known manner (for example, known from DE 36 00 750 A1) has an upper part with a circumferential annular field and possibly a combustion bowl.
- the upper part is adjoined by a lower part, which is designed as a piston shaft with a pin bore, pin bosses and optionally further elements for the function of the piston in the cylinder of the internal combustion engine.
- the invention is based on the object while maintaining the function of the piston (power transmission of the up and down movement of the piston via a piston pin on a connecting rod) to further reduce the weight of the piston.
- the piston pin is fixed with its ends to an underside of the upper part, each with a material and / or non-positive connection means on the upper part. It thus eliminates the need to provide the piston known per se with piston pin bores in which the respective end of the piston pin is mounted positively. It is therefore not necessary to bring the piston pin over its entire axial length to measure, since this is required only in the central region of the piston pin, which cooperates with the connecting rod. According to the invention, there are thus advantages in the weight savings by eliminating the piston hubs, since the weight of the non-positive connection means is the opposite significantly lower.
- the non-positive connection means is a rivet in development of the invention.
- the respective end of the piston pin is for this purpose to be provided with a passage opening for the rivets, wherein the rivets in a suitable manner with the underside of the upper part of the piston in operative connection, that is fixed there.
- the piston pin is permanently and immovably fixed at the same time very low weight.
- the non-positive connection means is a screw.
- a screw By means of such a screw, which is carried out through a passage opening in the end region of the piston pin, the piston pin can be permanently and immovably fixed to the underside of the upper part of the piston.
- it is only necessary to introduce an opening in the area of the underside for the screw (for example during a casting process or thereafter, eg by drilling), and to provide this opening with a thread for the screw.
- the omitted by the introduction of the opening material is replenished by the screw, so that this results in a weight savings.
- the frictional connection means for example, as mentioned above, screws, rivets and the like, can be replaced by a material connection.
- Suitable cohesive connections are brazing, welding, gluing and comparable cohesive connections, which withstand the forces acting on the piston and the piston pin.
- the respective end of the piston pin is frictionally connected to the underside of the piston crown (for example, by screwing) and this connection is supported or secured by another cohesive connection (as mentioned above).
- the cohesive connection means is, for example, a weld bead or the like in a welding operation.
- the material-locking connection means is the molten and solidified solder deposit between the end of the piston pin and the underside of the piston crown.
- the end of the piston pin has at least one flattened region.
- the at least one flattened Area can cooperate either with the underside of the top of the piston or with the screw head (or alternatively the nut) to prevent displacements or rotations of the piston pin during operation of the piston in the cylinder of the internal combustion engine.
- the end of the piston pin has two opposite flattened regions.
- the one flattened region can cooperate with the underside of the upper part of the piston pin, wherein the opposite flattened portion cooperates with the screw head or the nut. This further causes the permanent fixing of the piston pin on the underside of the upper part of the piston and in particular a rotation, which could come about by the force of the connecting rod, effectively prevented.
- the underside of the upper part of the piston has a flattened region at least in the region in which the respective end of the piston pin is fixed.
- This flattened portion of the bottom can cooperate in a simple configuration with the respective one of the piston pin, which is round.
- the flattened portion on the underside of the top of the piston cooperates with a corresponding flattened portion of the respective end of the piston pin, thereby effectively preventing twisting of the piston pin.
- the implementation is introduced in the respective end of the piston pin as a bore. This is a particularly easy way to make this implementation.
- the frictional connection means is a screw (or a threaded piece / threaded rod)
- the underside of the upper part at least one threaded hole for receiving the screw (or the threaded piece, which cooperates with a nut ) having.
- the threaded bore can already be provided, for example, during a corresponding casting process for producing the piston or its piston blank.
- this threaded hole then the screw or the threaded piece can be screwed. Again, securing means are applicable.
- the respective end of the piston pin frontally Opening in particular a threaded bore having.
- a locking lacquer are introduced, which performs the force-locking connection means, in particular the screw or the threaded piece, in the implementation in the end region of the piston pin.
- This can be, for example, a security lacquer.
- this front-side opening can be designed as a threaded bore, into which additionally a screw (for example a grub screw) is screwed in, in order to secure the connecting means, in particular the screw.
- Figure 1 is a fragmentary and sectional view of an arrangement with a piston 1 of an internal combustion engine shown.
- the piston 1 has in a known manner an upper part 2 (with or without combustion chamber) on. Not shown, but there is a ring field with at least one annular groove, often two or three annular grooves.
- the upper part 2 is followed (as viewed in FIG. 1, downwards) by a piston skirt 3.
- the piston skirt 3 may be a continuous cylindrical piston skirt, but may also have bearing skirt wall sections which do not extend over the entire circumference of the piston 1.
- the reference numeral 4 a piston pin is drawn, which is in operative connection with a connecting rod 5.
- 6 designates a piston stroke axis.
- a non-positive connection means here a screw 7, connected to the upper part 2 of the piston 1.
- the known hubs of the piston 1, which extend from the upper part 2 down, are omitted.
- FIG. 2 shows the piston 1 in a view from below.
- the piston shaft 3 consists of supporting shaft wall sections which are not formed completely circumferentially.
- a flattened region 9 is present at least in the region in which the respective end of the piston pin 4 is fixed.
- the flattened area shown is merely an example and may be smaller or larger in particular and may be matched correspondingly to the contact area of the piston pin 4 with its respective ends.
- 1 1 denotes a bolt axis of the piston 1. This pin axis 1 1 is also the longitudinal axis of the piston pin. 4
- Figure 3 shows an embodiment of the piston pin 4, which is exemplary.
- the piston pin 4 at its respective ends a Through opening, in particular holes 12, on. Through these passage openings, in particular through the holes 12, the non-positive connection means, in particular the screw 7, performed.
- the piston pin 4 has at least one flattened region 13 in its respective end region.
- the piston pin 4 according to FIG. 3 has two opposite flattened regions 13 in the respective end region.
- the one flattened region 13 is in operative connection with the flattened region 9 on the underside 8 of the upper part 2 of the piston 1.
- the opposite existing flattened area 13 is operatively connected z. B. with the screw head of the screw 7, as shown in Figure 1.
- the piston pin 4 when using the screw 7 for non-positive fixing of the piston pin 4 on the underside 8 of the upper part 2 of the piston 1, the piston pin 4 has an opening on the end face, in particular a threaded bore 14.
- securing means can be introduced, which permanently fix the screw 7 to the piston pin 4, to prevent the screw 7 during the operation of the piston 1 in the cylinder of the internal combustion engine ine from the threaded bore 10 turns out.
- securing means can be provided with which the screw 7 in the threaded bore 10 are permanently fixed. This may be a security lacquer, also conceivable is the use of a retaining ring which is interposed between the head of the screw 7 and the flattened portion 13 of the piston pin 4. Also Alternatively or additionally, it is conceivable, the head of the screw 7 at the end of the piston pin 4 cohesively z. B. by gluing, soldering, welding or the like set to prevent unscrewing the screw 7 from the threaded hole 10.
- the object is achieved by a bolt which is not mounted in its end portion in a pin bore, but is arranged and fastened below the upper part, wherein the per se known pin holes and the material fall around them.
- the arrangement can be made by flattening the two ends of the bolt and corresponding with corresponding flats on the underside of the upper part of the piston. By this mutually flat support prevents the bolt can rotate during operation of the piston in the internal combustion engine.
- fastening means are further provided with which the bolt is fixed in the region of its flattened ends on the underside of the upper part.
- the flattened end portions of the bolt are fastened by means of a screw on the piston.
- the bolt has a passage opening, in particular a bore, for a screw in its end regions. After the screw has been passed through this passage opening, it is threaded into the flattened area on the underside of the top of the Piston screwed and thus permanently fixed the bolt on the piston. Securing measures for fixing the screw can be provided to prevent loosening of the screw during operation of the piston.
- a piston is exceptionally shown in section, which has an upper part (not shown ring field), with a lower part (shank) connects to the upper part downwards.
- a connecting rod approximately in the middle region of the piston in a conventional manner comprises the bolt, wherein the illustrated end portion of the bolt has a through hole through which a screw is performed, with its screw head facing away from the threaded end in the upper part of the piston is screwed.
- the operative connection between the piston is realized via the bolt towards the connecting rod.
- the main advantage of this attachment is the fact that over known bearings of the end portions of the bolt in the bolt holes (piston hubs) can be significantly saved material.
- Piston having an upper part and a lower part, wherein for connecting the piston with a connecting rod, a bolt is flattened in its end regions and the flattened end portions of the bolt with flattened areas on the underside of the upper part correspond and the bolt via fastening means, in particular screws, on the underside the upper part is arranged and secured to save material by eliminating the material around the piston pin bore around.
