Definitions
- This invention relates to an air filtering device.
- nitric oxides NOx
- VOCs volatile organic compounds
- photocatalytic compounds are able, in the presence of oxygen and water, to deteriorate and oxidise efficiently the above-mentioned polluting compounds present in the air.
- titanium dioxide in the presence of UV radiation, is able to destroy by photocatalytic means the polluting substances, degrading them to water and CO2, or mineralising them to non-toxic substances.
- these devices have an air passage duct, a suction fan and the photocatalytic filter.
- the filtering devices are available on the market with various sizes on the basis of the volume of the rooms in which they must be used.
- the use of a filtering device designed for a volume different from that of the room in which it is used may result in poor purification efficiency, if the device is under-sized, or an unjustified waste of energy, if the device is over-sized.
- the aim of the invention is therefore to provide an air filtering device which overcomes the above-mentioned drawbacks of the prior art.
- the aim of the invention is to provide an air filtering device which offers a high level of simplicity and rapid assembly.
- Another aim of the invention is to provide an air filtering device which has compact dimensions.
- FIG. 1 is a first perspective view of an air filtering device according to the invention in an assembled configuration, ready for use;
- FIG. 2 is a first perspective view of a filtering module used in the filtering device of Figure 1 ;
- FIG. 3 is a second perspective view of the filtering module of Figure 2;
- FIG. 4 is a cross section view, in a vertical plane, of the filtering module of Figure 2;
- FIG. 5 is an enlarged cross section of a detail of the filtering module of Figure 2.
- FIG. 6 is a cross section view, in a vertical plane, of two filter modules shown in Figure 2 in a mutually stacked and coupled configuration, according to the operating configuration of Figure 1.
- filtering device 1 denotes in its entirety an air filtering device, referred to below as filtering device 1.
- the filtering device 1 is configured to filter the air of a room in such a way as to improve the quality of the air breathed, limiting the quantity of harmful agents contained in it.
- the filtering device comprises a base module 3, at least one filtering module 2 and, preferably, an end module 4.
- the base module 3, two filtering modules 2 and the adjustment module 4 are stacked coaxially along a stacking axis "X", defining a filtering device 1 which is substantially cylindrical in shape delimited by a base module 3 and by an adjustment module 4 between which are interposed two filtering modules 2.
- the base module comprises supporting elements designed to allow the resting of the filtering device 1 on a surface (not illustrated) designed to support it during its use.
- the number of filter modules 2 may be increased or reduced as a function of the ambient conditions in which the filtering device 1 is to operate.
- the adjustment module 4 is designed to be positioned on the top of the stacked modules to define a head module.
- each module constitutes an extension of the adjacent one without steps or changes in diameter in order to form a substantially barrel-like profile.
- the device 1 is configured for supplying an air flow to be filtered along a rising path extending from the base module 3 towards the end module 4.
- the base module 3 may comprise an inlet (not illustrated, and made for example by a grille) designed to allow the introduction of the air inside the device 1.
- the base module 3 comprises at least one fan 20 configured to move air inside the filtering device 1 along the above-mentioned rising path, and fluid dynamic connecting means defining an inner duct for passage of air for placing in fluid communication the different modules 2, 3, 4 included in it. More specifically, the fan 20 is configured for conveying the air from the room in which the device 1 is located, through the fluid dynamic connecting means, inside of the modules 2, 3, 4.
- the air inlet may be located on a filtering module 2 and/or on the end module 4, consequently the fan 20 may be positioned on a generic module 2, 3, 4 (not necessarily the base module 3) and the above-mentioned path of the air inside the device 1 may adopt configurations and directions different from that previously indicated, without altering the inventive concept of the invention.
- the base module 3 is connectable to an electricity supply source for powering the various components included in the base module 3, in particular the fan 20.
- the same electrical power supply to the base module 3 also provides the electricity supply for the other modules 2, 4, in ways which are described below.
- each of them comprises at least one filtering element designed to purify the air conveyed to it by the fan 20.
- the filtering element comprises a photocatalytic filter designed to degrade by photocatalytic means the harmful substances present in the air which enters the filtering device 1.
- the photocatalytic filter receives electricity from the electricity supply source by means of the base module 3.
- the photocatalytic filter is shown with the numeral 6 and is associated with lighting devices not illustrated (for example LED lamps) acting in conjunction with it for the activation of the filtration properties.
- the photocatalytic filter 6 is located in a central position in the respective filtering module 2 and transversal, preferably perpendicular, to the direction of flow of the air inside the module 2 (vertical in the views in Figures 2-5).
- the filter 6 is preferably square or rectangular in shape.
- the filter 6 is mounted on the load-bearing structure of the module 2, which is made, for example, of plastic material.
- each filtering module 2 also comprises one or more additional devices configured to increase the functionality of the filtering device 1.
- these additional devices may comprise a lighting device, a loudspeaker, a fragrance device, a fan.
- the end module 4 may it compriseelectrical means for switching on the air filtering device 1 , thus defining an adjustment module also powered by theabove-mentioned electricity supply source by means of the base module 3.
- the adjustment module 4 comprises a portion configured for the outlet of the air from the device 1 once filtered.
- the portion for the outlet of the air and/or the means for switching on the device 1 can be located on the base module 3 or on one of the filter modules 2.
- the modules 2, 3, 4 are coupled to each other in a coaxial position by reciprocal engagement of respective circular coupling flanges 7, 8 shown in Figure 5.
- modules 2, 3, 4 are stably connected by means of respective mechanical connections, which can be seen, for example, in Figures 2-5.
- the mechanical connections of the modules 2, 3, 4 according to this invention are of the reversible type.
- the mechanical connections 12, 13 of the filtering device 1 comprise shape couplings, preferably of a male-female type, which determine a coupling between the modules 2, 3, 4 according to predetermined orientations and mutual positions.
- the mechanical connections 12, 13 comprise male type connectors, having, for example, a plurality of hollow cylindrical bodies 12, and female type connectors, having a plurality of seats 13 each of which is designed to house a respective hollow cylindrical body 12.
- the male and female connectors can be engaged with each other by mutual insertion along the above-mentioned stacking direction "X".
- the connectors are preferably made in one piece with the structure of the modules 2, 3, 4, for example by a single plastic injection process.
- the male/female connectors are positioned on the modules 2, 3, 4 in a position which is off centre, close to the periphery of the module 2, 3, 4.
- the connectors are positioned adjacent to a side of the photocatalytic filter 6, in a perimeter strip of the structure of the outer module and, therefore, to the filter 6.
- the connectors are grouped in a single pack of four connectors positioned on a side of the module 2, however the connectors can also be distributed on other areas of the surface of the module 2, in such a way as to distribute the connecting stresses between the modules 2, 3, 4.
- the modules 2, 3, 4 have respective electrical connections 15, 17 for transmitting an electrical power supply between them.
- the electrical connections 15, 17 are integrated in the mechanical connections.
- the electrical connections 15, 17 comprise sliding electrical contacts supported by the mechanical connections 12, 13 and which engage after coupling between the mechanical connections.
- each cylindrical body 12 comprises, on a relative inner surface, a conductive covering 17 and each of the seats 13 houses at least one conductive element 15 (in particular a filament or similar element) designed to engage in contact with the conductive covering 17 of a corresponding hollow cylindrical body in an engagement configuration between the mechanical connections.
- a conductive element 15 in particular a filament or similar element
- each filtering module 2 since it designed to form an intermediate module, has first and second electrical connections and first and second mechanical connections, positioned on parts of the module mutually facing each other, for allowing a coupling of the filtering module 2 to the base module 3 or to another underlying filtering module 2 by means of the first mechanical connections and the first electrical connections (defining lower connections of the module 2), and to a further filtering module 2 or to the end module 4 by means of the second mechanical connections and second electrical connections (defining upper connections of the module 2).
- each conductive element 15 is electrically connected to a corresponding hollow cylindrical body 12 to guarantee electrical continuity between the modules 2, 3, 4 in a stacked configuration.
- the mechanical connections 12, 13 comprise or are associated with locking means.
- the locking means are preferably snap-on means, as shown in view of Figure 5.
- the locking means comprise a fastening element 10, mounted on a module 2, 3, 4 in a rotatable fashion about a respective axis (oriented radially in the embodiment illustrated in Figures 3 and 5) and having an end tooth 10a designed to engage with a corresponding anchoring protrusion 9 made on the adjacent module 2, 3, 4.
- the fastening element 10 can rotate like a trigger between a non-operating position, in which it disengages from the anchoring protrusion 9 allowing an uncoupling between the modules 2, 3, 4 by moving away from each other, and an operating position ( Figure 5) in which it intercepts the anchoring protrusion 9 by means of the end tooth 10a, preventing an axial movement away (and therefore an uncoupling) between the modules 2, 3, 4.
- the fastening element 10 is associated with a respective metric thread 1 1 which holds it in the operating position and is used for manoeuvring it.
- the invention achieves the preset aims thanks to an integrated electrical-mechanical coupling which allows a rapid connection between the modules and a reduction of obstructions, given the absence of complex and bulky wiring systems.
- the use of a modular architecture makes it possible to modify the number the filtering elements on the basis of the size of the room in which the device is placed.
- the barrel-like cylindrical structure is of particular aesthetic appeal.
