Die Erfindung betrifft eine Elektrodeneinheit (10) für eine Batteriezelle (2), umfassend eine Anode (21), welche einen aus einem metallischen Material gefertigten, folienartigen Stromableiter (31) und ein anodisches Aktivmaterial (41) aufweist, eine Kathode (22), welche einen aus einem metallischen Material gefertigten, folienartigen Stromableiter (32) und ein kathodisches Aktivmaterial (42) aufweist, und mindestens einen zwischen der Anode (21) und der Kathode (22) angeordneten, folienartigen Separator (23, 24). Dabei sind die Anode (21), die Kathode (22) und der mindestens eine Separator (23, 24) wendelflächenartig ausgebildet. Die Erfindung betrifft auch eine Batteriezelle (2), welche eine erfindungsgemäße Elektrodeneinheit (10) umfasst. Ferner betrifft die Erfindung auch ein Verfahren zur Herstellung einer erfindungsgemäßen Elektrodeneinheit (10).

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Elektrodeneinheit für eine Batteriezelle, die eine Anode, welche einen aus einem metallischen Material gefertigten, folienartigen Stromableiter und ein anodisches Aktivmaterial aufweist, eine Kathode, welche einen aus einem metallischen Material gefertigten, folienartigen Stromableiter und ein kathodisches Aktivmaterial aufweist, und mindestens einen zwischen der Anode und der Kathode angeordneten, folienartigen Separator umfasst. Die Erfindung betrifft auch eine Batteriezelle, welche eine erfindungsgemäße Elektrodeneinheit umfasst. Weiterhin betrifft die Erfindung ein Verfahren zur Herstellung der erfindungsgemäßen Elektrodeneinheit.
Stand der Technik
Elektrische Energie ist mittels Batterien speicherbar. Batterien wandeln chemische Reaktionsenergie in elektrische Energie um. Hierbei werden
Primärbatterien und Sekundärbatterien unterschieden. Primärbatterien sind nur einmal funktionsfähig, während Sekundärbatterien, die auch als Akkumulator bezeichnet werden, wieder aufladbar sind. Eine Batterie umfasst dabei eine oder mehrere Batteriezellen.
In einem Akkumulator finden insbesondere sogenannte Lithium-Ionen- Batteriezellen Verwendung. Diese zeichnen sich unter anderem durch hohe Energiedichten, thermische Stabilität und eine äußerst geringe Selbstentladung aus. Lithium-Ionen-Batteriezellen kommen unter anderem in Kraftfahrzeugen, insbesondere in Elektrofahrzeugen (Electric Vehicle, EV), Hybridfahrzeugen (Hybride Electric Vehicle, HEV) sowie Plug-In-Hybridfahrzeugen (Plug-In-Hybride Electric Vehicle, PHEV) zum Einsatz.
Lithium-Ionen-Batteriezellen weisen eine positive Elektrode, die auch als
Kathode bezeichnet wird, und eine negative Elektrode, die auch als Anode bezeichnet wird, auf. Die Kathode sowie die Anode umfassen je einen
Stromableiter, auf den ein Aktivmaterial aufgebracht ist. Der Stromableiter ist dabei elektrisch leitend und kann folienartig ausgebildet sein. Wenn der
Stromableiter zur Herstellung einer Anode vorgesehen ist, so ist er
beispielsweise aus Kupfer gefertigt. Wenn der Stromableiter zur Herstellung einer Kathode vorgesehen ist, so ist er beispielsweise aus Aluminium gefertigt. Bei dem Aktivmaterial für die Kathode handelt es sich beispielsweise um ein Metalloxid. Bei dem Aktivmaterial für die Anode handelt es sich beispielsweise um Graphit oder Silizium.
In das Aktivmaterial der Anode sind Lithiumatome eingelagert. Beim Betrieb der Batteriezelle, also bei einem Entladevorgang, fließen Elektronen in einem äußeren Stromkreis von der Anode zur Kathode. Innerhalb der Batteriezelle wandern Lithiumionen bei einem Entladevorgang von der Anode zur Kathode.
Ein Anodenmaterial wie beispielsweise Graphit kann Lithiumionen in seinem Kristallgitter einlagern, wenn deren Ladung durch ein zusätzliches Elektron pro Lithiumion im Graphit kompensiert wird. Bei einem Entladevorgang werden die Lithiumionen dann wieder ausgelagert, was auch als Deinterkalation bezeichnet wird. Bei einem Ladevorgang der Batteriezelle wandern die Lithiumionen von der Kathode zu der Anode. Dabei lagern die Lithiumionen wieder in das Aktivmaterial der Anode, beispielsweise Graphit, reversibel ein, was auch als Interkalation bezeichnet wird.
Die Elektroden der Batteriezelle sind folienartig ausgebildet und unter
Zwischenlage eines Separators, welcher die Anode von der Kathode trennt, zu einem Elektrodenwickel gewunden. Ein solcher Elektrodenwickel wird auch als Jelly-Roll bezeichnet. Die beiden Elektroden des Elektrodenwickels werden mittels Kollektoren elektrisch mit Polen der Batteriezelle, welche auch als
Terminals bezeichnet werden, verbunden. Eine Batteriezelle umfasst in der Regel eine oder mehrere Elektrodeneinheiten. Die Elektroden und der Separator sind von einem in der Regel flüssigen Elektrolyt umgeben. Der Elektrolyt ist für die Lithiumionen leitfähig und ermöglicht den Transport der Lithiumionen zwischen den Elektroden.
Die Batteriezelle weist ferner ein Zellengehäuse auf, welches beispielsweise aus Aluminium gefertigt ist. Das Zellengehäuse ist in der Regel prismatisch, insbesondere quaderförmig, ausgestaltet und druckfest ausgebildet. Die
Terminals befinden sich dabei außerhalb des Zellengehäuses. Nach dem
Verbinden der Elektroden mit den Terminals wird der Elektrolyt in das
Zellengehäuse gefüllt.
In US 2003/0072993 Al ist eine Sekundärzelle offenbart, wobei die
Sekundärzelle eine gerollte Elektrodeneinheit aufweist.
Eine Batteriezelle, die eine gewickelte Elektrodenanordnung aufweist, ist aus US 2003/0087150 Al bekannt.
In US 2017/0133732 Al ist eine Elektrodeneinheit offenbart, die bei der
Herstellung gefaltet und gestapelt wird.
Aus US 2017/0077480A1 ist eine Elektrodenstapelstruktur mit einer Vielzahl von gestapelten Elektrodenschichten bekannt.
Offenbarung der Erfindung
Es wird eine Elektrodeneinheit für eine Batteriezelle vorgeschlagen. Die
Elektrodeneinheit umfasst dabei eine Anode, welche einen aus einem
metallischen Material gefertigten, folienartigen Stromableiter und ein anodisches Aktivmaterial aufweist, eine Kathode, welche einen aus einem metallischen Material gefertigten, folienartigen Stromableiter und ein kathodisches
Aktivmaterial aufweist, und mindestens einen folienartigen Separator, welcher zwischen der Anode und der Kathode angeordnet ist.
Der Stromableiter der Anode ist somit elektrisch leitfähig ausgeführt und beispielsweise aus Kupfer gefertigt. Auch der Stromableiter der Kathode ist somit elektrisch leitfähig ausgeführt und beispielsweise aus Aluminium gefertigt.
Erfindungsgemäß sind die Anode, die Kathode und der mindestens eine Separator wendelflächenartig ausgebildet.
Unter einer Wendelfläche ist eine Fläche zu verstehen, die mehrere Teilflächen in Form von übereinander angeordneten Lagen aufweist, welche
zusammenhängend sind, so dass eine gemeinsame, ununterbrochene
Oberfläche ausgebildet wird, welche sich mit einer konstanten Steigung um eine Achse windet.
Gemäß einer vorteilhaften Ausgestaltung der Erfindung weisen die Anode, die Kathode und der Separator jeweils eine runde Geometrie auf.
Eine Wendelfläche mit einer runden Geometrie, ist eine Fläche, die entsteht, wenn eine Halbgerade, die auf einer Achse senkrecht steht, sich mit konstanter Geschwindigkeit um die Achse dreht und gleichzeitig eine Parallelverschiebung mit konstanter Geschwindigkeit in Achsenrichtung erfährt. In diesem Fall ist die Projektion der Wendelfläche entlang der Achse, um die sich die Wendelfläche windet, rund.
Eine Wendelfläche kann auch eine eckige Geometrie, insbesondere
quadratische Geometrie, aufweisen. In diesem Fall ist die Projektion der Wendelfläche entlang der Achse, um die sich die Wendelfläche windet, eckig bzw. quadratisch. Eine Wendelfläche mit einer eckigen Geometrie kann beispielsweise durch Zuschneiden eine Wendelflächen mit einer runden Geometrie entstehen.
Gemäß einer vorteilhaften Ausgestaltung der Erfindung weisen die Anode, die Kathode und der Separator jeweils eine eckige Geometrie, insbesondere eine quadratische Geometrie, auf.
Die Anode, der mindestens eine Separator und die Kathode werden bevorzugt ineinander gestellt, um in dieser Reihenfolge aufeinanderliegen zu kommen.
Das Aktivmaterial kann auf eine Seite des Stromableiters aufgebracht werden, wobei die andere Seite des Stromableiters frei von Aktivmaterial bleibt. In diesem
Fall sind üblicherweise nur ein Separator sowie ein Isolator erforderlich. Es ist aber auch denkbar, dass mehrere Separatoren verwendet werden.
Beispielsweise können ein erster Separator und ein zweiter Separator verwendet werden. Die Anode, der erste Separator, die Kathode sowie der zweite Separator werden ineinander gestellt, um in dieser Reihenfolge aufeinanderliegen zu kommen, wobei der zweite Separator als Isolator dient.
Vorzugsweise wird das Aktivmaterial auf beide Seiten des Stromableiters aufgebracht. In diesem Fall umfasst die erfindungsgemäße Elektrodeneinheit zwei Separatoren, nämlich einen ersten Separator und einen zweiten Separator. Dabei werden die Anode, der erste Separator, die Kathode und der zweite Separator ineinander gestellt, um in dieser Reihenfolge aufeinanderliegen zu kommen.
Bevorzugt weist der Stromableiter eine Kontaktfahne auf, die aus einem vom Aktivmaterial freien Endbereich des Stromableiters zugeschnitten ist.
Vorzugsweise weist die erfindungsgemäße Elektrodeneinheit ein zentrales, zylindrisches Loch auf, das entlang einer Mittelachse der Elektrodeneinheit ausgebildet ist.
Bevorzugt ist eine Führungsschiene zum schnellen Aufbau einer
erfindungsgemäßen Elektrodeneinheit und/oder zum Einbau der
erfindungsgemäßen Elektrodeneinheit in ein Zellengehäuse einer Batteriezelle im zentralen zylindrischen Loch angeordnet. Nach dem Aufbau der
Elektrodeneinheit kann die Führungsschiene entfernt oder mit in die Batteriezelle eingebaut werden. Es ist auch denkbar, dass Sensoren im zentralen,
zylindrischen Loch angeordnet werden, die den Zustand der Batteriezelle überwachen.
Es wird auch eine Batteriezelle vorgeschlagen, welche eine erfindungsgemäße Elektrodeneinheit umfasst.
Eine erfindungsgemäße Batteriezelle findet vorteilhaft Verwendung in einem Elektrofahrzeug (EV), in einem Hybridfahrzeug (HEV), in einem Plug-In- Hybridfahrzeug (PHEV) oder in einer stationären Batterie.
Es wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung einer erfindungsgemäßen
Elektrodeneinheit vorgeschlagen. Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren umfasst dabei folgende Schritte:
In einem Schritt a) wird eine Anode hergestellt. Die Herstellung der Anode geschieht dabei durch Bereitstellung eines zylindrisch spiralförmigen
Metalldrahtes für die Anode, Walzen des zylindrisch spiralförmigen Metalldrahtes zu einer wendelflächenartigen Metallfolie, Zuschneiden der wendelflächenartigen Metallfolie zum Erhalten eines wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters der Anode, Aufbringen eines anodischen Aktivmaterials auf eine oder beide Seiten des wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters der Anode und Kalandrieren des wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters der Anode zusammen mit dem
aufgetragenen anodischen Aktivmaterial.
Eine zylindrische Spirale, die auch als Schraube, Schraubenlinie, Wendel oder Helix bezeichnet wird, ist eine Kurve, die sich mit konstanter Steigung um den Mantel eines Zylinders windet.
In einem Schritt b) wird eine Kathode hergestellt. Die Herstellung der Kathode geschieht dabei durch Bereitstellung eines zylindrisch spiralförmigen
Metalldrahtes für die Kathode, Walzen des zylindrisch spiralförmigen
Metalldrahtes zu einer wendelflächenartigen Metallfolie, Zuschneiden der wendelflächenartigen Metallfolie zum Erhalten eines wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters der Kathode, Aufbringen eines kathodischen Aktivmaterials auf eine oder beide Seiten des wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters der Kathode und Kalandrieren des wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters der Kathode zusammen mit dem aufgetragenen kathodischen Aktivmaterial.
In einem Schritt c) wird mindestens ein folienartiger, wendelflächenartiger Separator bereitgestellt. Der mindestens eine Separator kann aus einem zylindrisch spiralförmigen Kunststoff hergestellt werden. Dieser zylindrisch
spiralförmige Kunststoff wird dann zu einer Folie gewalzt. Dabei wird der
Kunststoff geheizt und aufgeschmolzen. Anschließend wird die gewalzte Folie aus Kunststoff mit einer Keramik beschichtet. Es ist auch denkbar, dass der Kunststoff direkt auf das Aktivmaterial der Anode und/oder der Kathode flüssig aufgebracht wird, wobei der Kunststoff aufgeschmolzen wird oder in einem Lösungsmittel aufgelöst wird, und gegebenenfalls anschließend mit einer
Keramik beschichtet wird.
In einem Schritt d) wird der mindestens eine Separator zwischen der Anode und der Kathode angeordnet. Die Anode, der mindestens eine Separator und die Kathode werden dazu bevorzugt ineinander gestellt, um in dieser Reihenfolge aufeinanderliegen zu kommen. Bevorzugt werden zwei Separatoren, nämlich ein erster Separator und ein zweiter Separator verwendet. Dabei werden die Anode, der erste Separator, die Kathode sowie der zweite Separator so ineinander gestellt, dass sie in dieser Reihenfolge aufeinanderliegen.
Bevorzugt wird die in Schritt d) erhaltene Anordnung, welche die Anode, den mindestens einen Separator und die Kathode umfasst und die bereits im Schritt d) ineinander gestellt wurden, zusammengepresst.
Die Schritte a) bis c) müssen nicht zwingend nacheinander durchgeführt werden. Sie können auch gleichzeitig durchgeführt werden.
Prinzipiell kann der zylindrisch spiralförmige Metalldraht einen beliebigen
Durchmesser aufweisen. Bevorzugt weist der Metalldraht einen Durchmesser von 1 mm bis 30 mm auf.
Wenn der Metalldraht zur Herstellung eines Stromableiters einer Anode vorgesehen ist, so ist er beispielsweise aus Kupfer gefertigt. Wenn der
Metalldraht zur Herstellung eines Stromableiters einer Kathode vorgesehen ist, so ist er beispielsweise aus Aluminium gefertigt.
Bevorzugt weist die wendelflächenartige Metallfolie eine Dicke von 5 pm bis 500 pm auf. Das Walzen des Metalldrahtes kann in einem Walzvorgang erfolgen. Es ist aber auch denkbar, dass das Walzen in mehreren Walzvorgängen erfolgt.
Damit ein wendelflächenartiger Stromableiter mit definierten Seitenrändern erhalten werden kann, kann mindestens eine Schneidvorrichtung wie z.B. ein Messer oder ein Laserschneider verwendet werden.
Gemäß einer vorteilhaften Ausgestaltung der Erfindung werden die Metallfolien für die Anode und die Kathode so zugeschnitten, dass die Stromableiter der Anode und der Kathode jeweils eine runde Geometrie aufweisen.
Gemäß einer vorteilhaften Ausgestaltung der Erfindung werden die Metallfolien für die Anode und die Kathode so zugeschnitten, dass die Stromableiter der Anode und der Kathode jeweils eine eckige Geometrie, insbesondere eine quadratische Geometrie, aufweisen.
Vorzugsweise findet das Zuschneiden zum Erhalten einer definierten Geometrie statt, bevor das Aktivmaterial auf die Metallfolie aufgebracht wird. Es ist auch denkbar, dass das Zuschneiden nach Aufbringen des Aktivmaterials auf die Metallfolie stattfindet.
Gemäß einer vorteilhaften Ausgestaltung der Erfindung wird das Aktivmaterial nach Aufbringen auf den wendelflächenartigen Stromableiter mittels einer Heizvorrichtung getrocknet. Das Trocknen des Aktivmaterials kann vor oder nach dem Kalandrieren des Stromableiters zusammen mit dem aufgetragenen Aktivmaterial stattfinden.
Vorteile der Erfindung
Eine erfindungsgemäße Elektrodeneinheit weist eine hohe Energiedichte bei einem einfachen Aufbau auf. Die erfindungsgemäße Elektrodeneinheit weist nur zwei Stromableiter auf, die jeweils mit einer Kontaktfahne versehen ist. Dabei ist der relative Anteil an elektrochemisch inaktiven Komponenten vorteilhaft reduziert.
Mit der erfindungsgemäßen Elektrodeneinheit kann ein Elektrolyt nach
Anordnung der Elektrodeneinheit in ein Zellengehäuse einer Batteriezelle schnell eingefüllt werden.
Durch das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren wird die Produktion der
erfindungsgemäßen Elektrodeneinheit vorteilhaft vereinfacht und beschleunigt. Nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren werden die zwei folienartigen, wendelflächenartigen Elektroden, nämlich eine Anode und eine Kathode zusammen mit einem ebenfalls folienartig und wendelflächenartig ausgebildeten Separator aufgewickelt. Somit ist ein Stapelprozess nicht mehr erforderlich. Dadurch sind die Herstellkosten für eine erfindungsgemäße Elektrodeneinheit vorteilhaft verringert.

Ausführungsformen der Erfindung
In der nachfolgenden Beschreibung der Ausführungsformen der Erfindung werden gleiche oder ähnliche Elemente mit gleichen Bezugszeichen bezeichnet, wobei auf eine wiederholte Beschreibung dieser Elemente in Einzelfällen verzichtet wird. Die Figuren stellen den Gegenstand der Erfindung nur schematisch dar.
Eine Batteriezelle 2 ist in Figur 1 schematisch dargestellt. Die Batteriezelle 2 umfasst ein Zellengehäuse 3, welches beispielsweise prismatisch, insbesondere quaderförmig, ausgebildet ist. Die Batteriezelle 2 umfasst ein negatives Terminal 11 und ein positives Terminal 12. Über die beiden Terminals 11, 12 kann eine von der Batteriezelle 2 zur Verfügung gestellte Spannung abgegriffen werden. Ferner kann die Batteriezelle 2 über die beiden Terminals 11, 12 auch geladen werden.
Innerhalb des Zellengehäuses 3 der Batteriezelle 2 ist eine Elektrodeneinheit 10 angeordnet, welche zwei Elektroden, nämlich eine Anode 21 und eine Kathode 22, aufweist. Die Anode 21 und die Kathode 22 sind jeweils folienartig und wendelflächenartig ausgeführt. Die Elektrodeneinheit 10 umfasst ferner einen ersten Separator 23 und einen zweiten Separator 24, die ionisch leitfähig und
ebenfalls folienartig und wendelflächenartig ausgebildet sind. Die Anode 21, der erste Separator 23, die Kathode 22 und der zweite Separator 24 sind ineinander gestellt und liegen in dieser Reihenfolge aufeinander. Innerhalb des
Zellengehäuses 3 ist ferner ein Elektrolyt vorhanden.
Die Anode 21 umfasst ein anodisches Aktivmaterial 41 (siehe Figuren 4 bis 5) und einen Stromableiter 31 (siehe Figuren 7 bis 10), welche aneinander gelegt und miteinander verbunden sind. Der Stromableiter 31 der Anode 21 ist elektrisch leitfähig ausgeführt und aus einem Metall gefertigt, beispielsweise aus Kupfer, und über eine Kontaktfahne 33 der Anode 21 elektrisch mit dem negativen Terminal 11 der Batteriezelle 2 verbunden.
Die Kathode 22 umfasst ein kathodisches Aktivmaterial 42 (siehe Figuren 4 bis 5) und einen Stromableiter 32 (siehe Figuren 7 bis 10), welche aneinander gelegt und miteinander verbunden sind. Der Stromableiter 32 der Kathode 22 ist elektrisch leitfähig ausgeführt und aus einem Metall gefertigt, beispielsweise aus Aluminium, und über eine Kontaktfahne 34 der Kathode 22 elektrisch mit dem positiven Terminal 12 der Batteriezelle 2 verbunden.
Die Elektrodeneinheit 10 ist aufgrund der folienartigen, wendelflächenartigen Anode 21, ersten Separator 23, Kathode 22 und zweiten Separator 24 ebenfalls wendelflächenartig ausgebildet, wobei sich die Elektrodeneinheit 10 um eine Mittelachse X‘ windet.
Die Elektrodeneinheit 10 umfasst ein zentrales, zylindrisches Loch 60 entlang der Mittelachse X‘, in welchem eine Führungsschiene 62 zum Aufbau der
Elektrodeneinheit 10 angeordnet ist.
Figur 2 zeigt eine perspektivische Darstellung einer erfindungsgemäßen
Elektrodeneinheit 10, welche zylindrisch ausgebildet ist und eine runde
Geometrie aufweist. Die Elektrodeneinheit 10 umfasst eine Anode 21, welche mit einer Kontaktfahne 33 der Anode 21 versehen ist, eine Kathode 22, welche mit einer Kontaktfahne 34 der Kathode 22 versehen ist, wobei die Anode 21 und die Kathode 22 folienartig und wendelflächenartig ausgebildet sind. Die
Elektrodeneinheit 10 umfasst ferner einen ersten Separator 23 und einen zweiten
Separator 24, die ebenfalls folienartig und wendelflächenartig ausgebildet sind.
Die Anode 21, der erste Separator 23, die Kathode 22, und der zweite Separator 24 sind dabei ineinander gestellt und liegen in dieser Reihenfolge aufeinander.
Die Elektrodeneinheit 10 weist eine Mittelachse X‘ auf und windet sich darum.
Die Elektrodeneinheit 10 weist ferner ein zentrales, zylindrisches Loch 60 auf, welche entlang der Mittelachse X‘ der Elektrodeneinheit 10 ausgebildet ist. In dem zentralen, zylindrischen Loch 60 kann eine Führungsschiene 62 (vgl. Figur 1) angeordnet werden, die zum schnellen Aufbau der Elektrodeneinheit 10 und zum Einbau der Elektrodeneinheit 10 in ein Zellengehäuse 3 (vgl. Figur 1) einer Batteriezelle 2 (vgl. Figur 1) dient. Nach dem Aufbau der Elektrodeneinheit 10 und gegebenenfalls dem Einbau der Elektrodeneinheit 10 in das Zellengehäuse 3 kann die Führungsschiene 62 entfernt oder mit in der Batteriezelle 2 eingebaut werden. Darüber hinaus dient das Loch 60 auch zum schnellen Einfüllen eines Elektrolyten in das Zellengehäuse 3, nachdem die Elektrodeneinheit 10 im
Zellengehäuse 3 angeordnet ist. In dem Loch 60 können ferner auch Sensoren angeordnet werden, die den Zustand der Batteriezelle 2 überwachen.
Figur 3 zeigt eine Draufsicht auf die Elektrodeneinheit 10 aus Figur 2. Die
Elektrodeneinheit 10 weist eine runde Geometrie und ein zentrales, zylindrisches Loch 60 auf. Die Elektrodeneinheit 10 umfasst eine Anode 21, die eine
Kontaktfahne 33 der Anode 21 aufweist, und eine Kathode 22, die eine
Kontaktfahne 34 der Kathode 22 aufweist.
Figur 4 zeigt eine Explosionsdarstellung der erfindungsgemäßen
Elektrodeneinheit 10 gemäß einer ersten Ausführungsform.
Die Elektrodeneinheit 10 umfasst eine Anode 21, einen ersten Separator 23, eine Kathode 22 sowie einen zweiten Separator 24, die jeweils folienartig und wendelflächenartig ausgebildet sind.
Die Anode 21, der erste Separator 23, die Kathode 22, sowie der zweite
Separator 24 sind dabei zum Aufeinanderliegen in dieser Reihenfolge ineinander gestellt und um die Mittelachse X‘ der Elektrodeneinheit 10 gewunden.
Die Anode 21 weist eine Kontaktfahne 33 auf, die mit dem negativen Terminal 11 der Batteriezelle 2 elektrisch verbunden ist. Die Kathode 22 weist eine
Kontaktfahne 34 auf, die mit dem positiven Terminal 12 der Batteriezelle 2 elektrisch verbunden ist.
Figur 5 zeigt eine Explosionsdarstellung der Elektrodeneinheit 10 gemäß einer zweiten Ausführungsform. Die Elektrodeneinheit 10, welche eine Anode 21, einen ersten Separator 23, eine Kathode 22 und einen zweiten Separator 24 aufweist, umfasst ein zentrales, zylindrisches Loch 60 entlang der Mittelachse X‘. Mittels einer im Loch 60 angeordneten Führungsschiene 62 kann die
Elektrodeneinheit 10 schnell aufgebaut und in der Zellengehäuse 3 der
Batteriezelle 2 eingebaut werden. Nach dem Aufbau der Elektrodeneinheit 10 und gegebenenfalls dem Einbau der Elektrodeneinheit 10 in das Zellengehäuse 3 kann die Führungsschiene 62 entfernt oder mit in die Batteriezelle 2 eingebaut werden.
Figur 6 stellt einen zylindrisch spiralförmigen Metalldraht 51, 52 zur Herstellung eines Stromableiters 31, 32 perspektivisch dar, wobei sich der Metalldraht 51, 52 um eine Achse X windet. Prinzipiell ist der Durchmesser des zylindrisch spiralförmigen Metalldrahtes 51, 52 beliebig. Bevorzugt weist der Metalldraht 51, 52 einen Durchmesser von 1 mm bis 30 mm auf. Der Metalldraht 51 für eine Anode 21 ist zur Herstellung eines Stromableiters 31 der Anode 21 vorgesehen und beispielsweise aus Kupfer gefertigt. Der Metalldraht 52 für eine Kathode 22 ist zur Herstellung eines Stromableiters 32 der Kathode 22 vorgesehen und beispielsweise aus Aluminium gefertigt.
Figur 7 zeigt eine perspektivische Darstellung eines Herstellungsprozesses eines folienartigen, wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters 31, 32 gemäß einer ersten Ausführungsform.
Zunächst wird ein zylindrisch spiralförmiger Metalldraht 51, 52 wie in Figur 6 gezeigt, bereitgestellt.
Anschließend wird der zylindrisch spiralförmige Metalldraht 51, 52 zu einer wendelflächenartigen Metallfolie 53, 54 gewalzt.
Das Walzen des Metalldrahtes 51, 52 kann in einem Walzvorgang erfolgen. Es ist aber auch denkbar, dass das Walzen in mehreren Walzvorgängen erfolgt. Vorliegend in Figur 7 wird der Metalldraht 51, 52 in zwei Walzvorgängen, und zwar durch ein erstes Walzenpaar 70 und ein zweites Walzenpaar 72 zu eine Metallfolie 53, 54 gewalzt.
Bevorzugt weist die wendelflächenartige Metallfolie 53, 54 eine Dicke von 5 pm bis 500 pm auf.
Danach werden die Metallfolie 53 für die Anode 21 und die Metallfolie 54 für die Kathode 22 durch mindestens eine Schneidvorrichtung 74, 76 zugeschnitten, um einen Stromableiter 31 der Anode 21 und einen Stromableiter 32 der Kathode 22 mit definierten Seitenrändern zu erhalten. Als Schneidvorrichtung 74, 76 dient beispielsweise ein Messer oder ein Laserschneider.
Vorliegend in Figur 7 wird die Metallfolie 53, 54 durch eine erste
Schneidvorrichtung 74 und eine zweite Schneidvorrichtung 76 zugeschnitten, wobei mittels der beiden Schneidvorrichtungen 74 und 76 die Seitenränder des Stromableiters 31, 32 definiert werden.
Vorzugsweise werden die Metallfolien 53 und 54 so zugeschnitten, dass der Stromableiter 31 der Anode 21 und der Stromableiter 32 der Kathode 22 jeweils eine runde Geometrie aufweisen.
Figur 8 zeigt eine perspektivische Darstellung eines Herstellungsprozesses einer folienartigen, wendelflächenartigen Elektrode 21, 22, die einen Stromableiter 31, 32 aus Figur 7 aufweist.
Nachdem der Stromableiter 31, 32 durch Zuschneiden der Metallfolie 53, 54 erhalten ist, wird ein Aktivmaterial 41, 42 auf den Stromableiter 31, 32 durch eine Beschichtungsvorrichtung 80 aufgebracht, wobei das Aktivmaterial 41, 42 auf eine Seite oder auf beide Seiten des Stromableiters 31, 32 aufgebracht werden kann.
Bei dem Aktivmaterial 42 für die Kathode 22 handelt es sich beispielsweise um ein Metalloxid. Bei dem Aktivmaterial 41 für die Anode 21 handelt es sich beispielsweise um Graphit oder Silizium.
Der Stromableiter 31, 32 weist eine Kontaktfahne 33, 34 auf, die aus einem vom Aktivmaterial 41, 42 freien Endbereich des Stromableiters 31, 32 zugeschnitten ist.
Anschließend wird der Stromableiter 31, 32 durch ein Kalanderwalzenpaar 82 zusammen mit den aufgetragenen Aktivmaterial 41, 42 kalandriert.
Nach dem Kalandrieren wird das Aktivmaterial 41, 42 mittels einer
Heizvorrichtung 84 getrocknet. Es ist aber auch denkbar, dass das Aktivmaterial 41, 42 vor dem Kalandrieren getrocknet wird.
Es ist auch denkbar, dass das Aktivmaterial 41, 42 durch die
Beschichtungsvorrichtung 80 zunächst auf die Metallfolie 53, 54 aufgebracht wird. Danach wird die Metallfolie 53, 54 zusammen mit dem Aktivmaterial 41, 42 zum Erhalten eine Elektrode 21, 22 zugeschnitten. Vor dem Zuschneiden der Metallfolien 53, 54 kann das aufgetragene Aktivmaterial 41, 42 getrocknet und zusammen mit der Metallfolie 53, 54 kalandriert werden. Es ist auch möglich, dass das Trocknen und das Kalandrieren des aufgetragenen Aktivmaterial 41, 42 zusammen der Metallfolie 53, 54 nach dem Zuschneiden der Metallfolie 53, 54 stattfinden.
Figur 9 stellt einen Stromableiter 31, 32 gemäß einer zweiten Ausführungsform perspektivisch dar. Und Figur 10 zeigt den Stromableiter 31, 32 aus Figur 9 in einem zusammengepressten Zustand.
Der Stromableiter 31, 32 in Figuren 9 und 10 weist eine eckige Geometrie auf, die durch Zuschneiden einer Metallfolie 53, 54 erhalten wird. Bevorzugt findet dieses Zuschneiden statt, bevor das Aktivmaterial 41, 42 auf die Metallfolie 53,
54 aufgebracht wird. Es ist auch denkbar, dass dieses Zuschneiden nach dem Aufbringen des Aktivmaterials 41, 42 auf die Metallfolie 53, 54 stattfindet.
Die Erfindung ist nicht auf die hier beschriebenen Ausführungsbeispiele und die darin hervorgehobenen Aspekte beschränkt. Vielmehr ist innerhalb des durch die Ansprüche angegebenen Bereichs eine Vielzahl von Abwandlungen möglich, die im Rahmen fachmännischen Handelns liegen.
Claims
1. Elektrodeneinheit (10) für eine Batteriezelle (2), umfassend
eine Anode (21), welche einen aus einem metallischen Material gefertigten folienartigen Stromableiter (31) und ein anodisches
Aktivmaterial (41) aufweist,
eine Kathode (22), welche einen aus einem metallischen Material gefertigten folienartigen Stromableiter (32) und ein kathodisches Aktivmaterial (42) aufweist, und
mindestens einen zwischen der Anode (21) und der Kathode (22) angeordneten, folienartigen Separator (23, 24),
dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
die Anode (21), die Kathode (22) und der mindestens eine Separator (23, 24) wendelflächenartig ausgebildet sind.
2. Elektrodeneinheit (10) nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Anode (21), die Kathode (22) und der Separator (23, 24) jeweils eine runde Geometrie aufweisen.
3. Elektrodeneinheit (10) nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Anode (21), die Kathode (22) und der Separator (23, 24) jeweils eine eckige Geometrie aufweist.
4. Elektrodeneinheit (10) nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
das Aktivmaterial (41, 42) auf beiden Seiten der folienartigen
Stromableiter (31, 32) aufgebracht ist.
5. Elektrodeneinheit (10) nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass
der Stromableiter (31, 32) eine Kontaktfahne (33, 34) aufweist, die aus
einem vom Aktivmaterial (41, 42) freien Endbereich des Stromableiters (31, 32) zugeschnitten ist.
6. Elektrodeneinheit (10) nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, dass
ein zentrales, zylindrisches Loch (60) entlang einer Mittelachse X‘ der Elektrodeneinheit (10) ausgebildet ist.
7. Elektrodeneinheit (10) nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, dass
eine Führungsschiene (62) im zentralen, zylindrischen Loch (60) angeordnet ist.
8. Batteriezelle (2) umfassend eine Elektrodeneinheit (10) nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7.
9. Verwendung einer Batteriezelle (2) nach Anspruch 8 in einem
Elektrofahrzeug (EV), in einem Hybridfahrzeug (HEV), in einem Plug-In- Hybridfahrzeug (PHEV) oder in einer stationären Batterie.
10. Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Elektrodeneinheit (10) nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 7, umfassend folgende Schritte:
a. Herstellung einer Anode (21) durch
Bereitstellen eines zylindrisch spiralförmigen Metalldrahtes (51) für die Anode (21);
Walzen des zylindrisch spiralförmigen Metalldrahtes (51) für die Anode (21) zu einer wendelflächenartigen Metallfolie (53) für die Anode (21);
Zuschneiden der wendelflächenartigen Metallfolie (53) für die Anode (21) zum Erhalten eines wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters (31) der Anode (21);
Aufbringen eines anodischen Aktivmaterials (41) auf eine oder beide Seiten des wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters (31) der Anode (21); Kalandrieren des wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters (31) der Anode (21) zusammen mit dem aufgetragenen anodischen Aktivmaterial (41);
b. Herstellung einer Kathode (22) durch
Bereitstellen eines zylindrisch spiralförmigen Metalldrahtes (52) für die Kathode (22);
Walzen des zylindrisch spiralförmigen Metalldrahtes (52) für die Kathode (22) zu einer wendelflächenartigen Metallfolie (54) für die Kathode (22);
Zuschneiden der wendelflächenartigen Metallfolie (54) für die Kathode (22) zum Erhalten eines wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters (32) der Kathode (22);
Aufbringen eines kathodischen Aktivmaterials (42) auf eine oder beide Seiten des wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters (32) für die Kathode (22);
Kalandrieren des wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters (32) für die Kathode (22) zusammen mit dem aufgetragenen kathodischen Aktivmaterial (42);
c. Bereitstellung mindestens eines folienartigen, wendelflächenartigen Separators (23, 24);
d. Anordnung des mindestens einen Separators (23, 24) zwischen der Anode (21) und der Kathode (22).
11. Verfahren nach Anspruch 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die
Anordnung zusammengepresst wird.
12. Verfahren nach Anspruch 10 oder 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die wendelflächenartigen Metallfolie (53, 54) zum Erhalten einer runden Geometrie des wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters (31, 32) zugeschnitten wird.
13. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 10 bis 12, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, dass die
wendelflächenartige Metallfolie (53, 54) zum Erhalten einer eckigen Geometrie des wendelflächenartigen Stromableiters (31, 32) zugeschnitten wird.
14. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 10 bis 13, dadurch
gekennzeichnet, dass
das Aktivmaterial (41, 42) nach Aufbringen auf dem wendelflächenartigen Stromableiter (31, 32) getrocknet wird.
