Definitions
- the invention relates to a flushing system and method with adjustable flushing sensitivity enabling the contamination level to be detected and the flushing to be performed automatically after the use of the ceramic sanitary ware.
- the ceramic sanitary ware are mainly used for the purpose of personal cleaning in the bathrooms and toilets and for the purpose of washing various objects and foods in the kitchens. It is necessary to flush said ceramic sanitary ware after the use. For this purpose, most of the time a liquid is stored and the ceramic sanitary ware is enabled to be flushed by discharging said liquid into the ceramic sanitary ware. Said flushing process in the conventional systems takes place by way of discharge of the liquid in the flush tank as a result of triggering the discharge system with a mechanical arm and/or button, whereas the systems in which the flushing takes place automatically depending on the contamination have started to be preferred with the advancing technology.
- the contamination state of the ceramic sanitary ware is detected by various sensors and in case of the contamination level being above a predefined threshold value, the discharge system is triggered to enable the flushing process to take place.
- the contamination level that would trigger the realization of the flushing process is defined by the manufacturer.
- the choices and preferences of the users may differ. While some users require the ceramic sanitary ware to be flushed even in the case of slightest contamination, some other users prefer the flushing to take place when the ceramic sanitary ware is contaminated at a considerable level.
- the contamination level that would result in the triggering of the discharge system may be adjusted according to the preferences and the needs of the user and the flushing takes place only in cases preferred by the user, thereby preventing the undesired liquid consumption as well as achieving the hygiene level demanded by the user.
- An object of the invention is to develop a ceramic sanitary ware flushing system and method with adjustable sensitivity, wherein the contamination level defined to perform the flushing of the ceramic sanitary ware may be adjusted according to the preferences and the needs of the user.
- Another object of the invention is to develop a ceramic sanitary ware flushing system and method with adjustable sensitivity, wherein the undesired water consumption, resulting from the situations where the flushing process takes place even in cases the user does not need the flushing of the ceramic sanitary ware, is prevented.
- Another object of the invention is to develop a ceramic sanitary ware flushing system and method with adjustable sensitivity, wherein the hygiene problems, resulting from the situations where the flushing process does not take place as the predefined contamination level has not been reached, despite the user needing the ceramic sanitary ware to be flushed, are precluded.
- Another object of the invention is to develop a ceramic sanitary ware flushing system and method with adjustable sensitivity, wherein it is possible to select the contamination level that will cause the realization of the flushing process from the predefined modes and thus the flushing process is performed according to the sensitivity demanded by the user.
- Another object of the invention is to develop a ceramic sanitary ware flushing system and method with adjustable sensitivity, wherein it is possible for the user to manually defi ne the contamination level that will cause the realization of the flushing process and thus the flushing process is performed according to the sensitivity demanded by the user.

- the invention relates to a flushing system and method with adjustable flushing sensitivity enabling the contamination level to be detected and the flushing to be performed automatically after the use of the ceramic sanitary ware. More particularly, the invention relates to a flushing system and method with adjustable sensitivity, wherein the threshold contamination level for the flushing process to be performed may be defined manually by the user and/or may be selected from defined values, and as a result, the sensitivity of the flushing process may be adjusted depending on the preferences and the needs of the user.
- the system according to the invention comprises in its most basic form at least one sensor enabling the contamination level of the ceramic sanitary ware to be detected, at least one control unit enabling the defined contamination level needed for the realization of the flushing process to be set and at least one discharge system enabling the flushing process to be performed in case the contamination of the ceramic sanitary ware reaches the defined contamination level.
- the sensor enabling the contamination level to be detected may be an optical sensor as well as a radio frequency sensor.
- the optical signals are sent by at least one sensor and the reflections of the sent signals is detected again by the same sensor and the contamination of the ceramic sanitary ware may be decided based on the difference between the sent and received signals.
- a second optical sensor for detecting the sent optical signals is positioned opposite at least one first optical sensor and the contamination level may be detected based on the difference between the sent and received signals.
- the flushing of the ceramic sanitary ware takes place by way of the discharge of the liquid present in a flush tank or a similar reservoir into the ceramic sanitary ware.
- a discharge system is used in order to discharge said liquid.
- the discharge system is an automatically controlled system and said system, depending on its triggering status, allows or prevents the flow of the stored liquid into the ceramic sanitary ware.
- At least one control unit is utilized in order to set the contamination level defined for the realization of the flushing process, in other words, the threshold contamination level.
- the user is able to set the threshold contamination level defined for the realization of the flushing process in other words, the threshold contamination level required for the realization of the flushing process, i.e. for the activation of the discharge system, via the control unit, depending on his/her preferences and needs.
- a threshold contamination level scale is present on the control panel and the user is able to specify the desired threshold contamination level via said scale.
- the predefined threshold contamination levels are present on the control panel and the user is able to select the level appropriate for his/her choices and preferences from these defined levels.
- the control panel preferably includes an economic mode where a high extent of contamination is necessary for the activation of the discharge system, a hygienic mode where the discharge system is activated even in case of slight contamination and a balanced mode where a medium level of contamination results in the activation of the discharge system. Said modes may vary depending on the preferences and needs of the user and the manufacturer.
- the control panel being employed includes a scale enabling to adjust the flushing sensitivity wherein said control panel may also include a varying number of ready modes in addition to the scale.
- the signals sent and received by the radio frequency sensor are recorded as the amplitude and phase.
- Figure 1 shows the amplitude difference caused by a first contaminant and three different threshold contamination levels, namely high, medium and low, defined for exemplary purposes. As can be seen, the amplitude difference caused by the first contaminant has exceeded the threshold values for the high sensitivity and medium sensitivity, whereas it has not exceeded the threshold value for the low sensitivity. In this embodiment, the flushing process will take place in case the high or medium sensitivity level is selected, whereas the flushing process will not take place in case the low sensitivity level is selected.
- Figure 2 shows the phase difference caused again by a first contaminant and the defined threshold contamination levels.
- FIG. 3 shows the amplitude difference caused by a second contaminant and three different threshold contamination levels, namely high, medium and low, defined for exemplary purposes. The amplitude difference caused by the second contaminant has exceeded the threshold contamination level for the high sensitivity, but it has not exceeded the threshold contamination levels for the medium sensitivity and low sensitivity.
- the flushing system is expected to be activated in case the threshold value for high sensitivity is selected, while the flushing process is not expected to occur in case the threshold values for medium sensitivity and low sensitivity are selected.
- Figure 4 shows the phase difference caused by a second contaminant and three different threshold contamination levels, namely high, medium and low, defined for exemplary purposes. The phase difference caused by the second contaminant has exceeded the threshold contamination level for the high sensitivity, but it has not exceeded the threshold contamination levels for the medium sensitivity and low sensitivity.
- the flushing system is expected to be activated in case the threshold value for high sensitivity is selected, while the flushing process is not expected to occur in case the threshold values for medium sensitivity and low sensitivity are selected.
- the threshold contamination levels may be defined according to the phase difference or amplitude difference, while it is also possible to specify a threshold contamination level both for amplitude difference and phase difference and perform the flushing process in case both threshold levels are exceeded.
- the control panel may take the form of an internal panel containing physical buttons and/or a touch-operated panel and/or a device capable of communicating with the flushing system via a network connection.
- the system according to the invention comprises at least one communication unit intended to provide the network connection.
- the contamination level detected by the sensors and the threshold contamination level for the flushing process defined by the user via the control unit are evaluated by at least one main processing unit and the discharge system is activated by the main processing unit in case the contamination level is above the threshold contamination level. In other words, all the components and the relations between the components are managed by the main processing unit.
- the ceramic sanitary ware flushing method with adjustable sensitivity comprises in its most basic form the process steps of ⁇ specification of the threshold contamination level by the user,
- the sensitivity of the flushing system may be adjusted depending on the needs and preferences of the user; in other words, the flushing system may be customized in line with the preferences of the user, thereby preventing the undesired water consumption as well as achieving the hygiene level demanded by the user and increasing the user satisfaction.
