본 발명은 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자(solvent-polymer interaction parameter) α Pi 및 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자(solvent-(meth)acrylate binder interaction parameter) α Bi를 이용하여 스크리닝된 용매, 고분자 입자 및 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더를 포함하는 조성물, 이의 경화물을 포함하는 광학 필름 및 디스플레이 장치에 관한 것이다.

광학 필름용 조성물, 이를 포함한 광학 필름 및 디스플레이 장치
관련 출원(들)과의 상호 인용
본 출원은 2019년 3월 7일자 한국 특허 출원 제10-2019-0026502호 및 2020년 3월 3일자 한국 특허 출원 제10-2020-0026667호에 기초한 우선권의 이익을 주장하며, 해당 한국 특허 출원들의 문헌에 개시된 모든 내용은 본 명세서의 일부로서 포함된다.
본 발명은 광학 필름용 조성물, 이를 포함한 광학 필름 및 디스플레이 장치에 관한 것이다. 보다 자세하게는 상호작용 인자를 이용하여 스크리닝된 용매, 고분자 입자 및 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더를 포함하는 광학 필름용 조성물, 이를 포함한 광학 필름 및 디스플레이 장치에 관한 것이다.
유기 전계 발광 소자 (OELD), 또는 액정 표시 소자 (LCD) 와 같은 디스플레이 장치에 있어서, 외광의 반사 또는 상의 비침에 의한 콘트라스트의 저하나, 시인성의 저하를 방지하는 것이 요구된다. 이를 위해, 광의 산란 또는 광학 간섭 등을 이용해 상의 비침이나 반사 등을 줄이기 위해, 디스플레이 장치의 표면에 광학 필름이 형성되고 있다.
예를 들어, 액정 표시 소자 등에 있어서는 이전부터 방현 필름이 형성되어 왔다. 이러한 방현 필름을 제조하기 위한 조성물에는 바인더, 고분자 미립자, 무기 미립자, 용매 및 첨가제 등이 포함된다.
다만, 상기 조성물의 경화물인 방현 필름에 용매가 모두 건조되지 않고 필름 내에 잔류하는 경우, 고분자 미립자, 즉, 고분자(polymer)가 부풀어 오르게 하는 팽윤(swelling) 현상이 발생할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 고분자가 용매에 노출되는 경우 고분자의 사슬(chain) 틈 사이로 용매 분자가 침투해 들어가서 고분자의 무게와 부피가 증가되어 고분자가 팽창하는 팽윤 현상이 발생하게 된다. 용매에 대한 고분자의 팽윤 현상은 고분자의 구조, 분자량, 분자량 분포, 용매의 특성 등과 같은 다양한 요인에 의해서 크게 변화하기 때문에 고분자의 팽윤 현상을 명확하게 예측할 수 있는 방법은 현재까지 존재하지 않으며, 실험적으로 여러 용매를 테스트하여 해당 고분자에 적합한 용매를 선택하는 방법을 사용한다.
용매에 대한 고분자의 팽윤 현상은 고분자 미립자 및 이를 포함하는 조성물의 특성을 평가할 수 있는 중요한 요소이기 때문에 이를 정확하게 예측, 평가할 수 있다면 고분자, 및 이를 포함하는 조성물의 물성을 향상시키는데 매우 유용할 것으로 기대된다.
한편, 대한민국 공개특허 제2015-0041417호에서는 용매의 한센 용해도 인자(Hansen Solubility Parameter)를 조정한 값을 이용하여 용매가 고분자에 침투하는 팽윤 현상을 정량적으로 평가하는 변수인 용매-고분자 팽윤 지수(Solvent-Polymer Swelling Parameter: S-PSP)를 개발하고, 이를 이용하여 용매에 대해서 고분자가 나타낼 수 있는 팽윤 특성을 포괄적이고 정량적으로 평가하는 방법인 팽윤 밴드(Swelling Band)를 개시하였다.
그러나, 상기의 한센 용해도 인자를 사용하는 방법은 열역학적 접근 방식으로, 고분자의 특정 상호작용을 무시하는 단순한 방법론에 기초한다. 따라서 양자 계산에 근거하는 방법론에 비해 분자 사이의 상호작용이 부정확하다는 보고가 있다. 또한, 상기 방법에서는 용매에 따른 고분자의 팽윤을 예측할 수 있을 뿐, 아크릴 바인더와의 상호작용은 고려되지 않았다.
또한, 일본 공개특허 제2009-057533호에서는 고분자 수지를 2 성분 혼합 약액에 침지했을 때의 포화 팽윤량을 Flory-Huggins 상호작용 파라미터, 혼합 약액의 제 1 성분과 제 2 성분과의 상호작용 파라미터, 혼합 약액의 제 1 성분과 수지와의 상호작용 파라미터, 혼합 약액의 제 2 성분과 수지와의 상호작용 파라미터를 이용하여 예측하는 방법을 개시하고 있다.
상기 방법 또한 혼합 용매에 따른 고분자 입자의 팽윤 현상만을 다루고 있을 뿐, 아크릴 바인더와의 상호작용에 따른 스크리닝은 고려되지 않았다.
또한, 바인더 내에 존재하는 고분자 입자를 용매에 접촉하여 조성물을 제조하는 경우, 용매와 고분자 입자만의 팽윤 특성만으로는 고분자 입자의 팽윤 정도를 정확히 예측할 수 없기에 이러한 고분자 입자-바인더-용매 시스템에 적합한 팽윤 측정 방법 및 용매의 스크리닝 방법이 요구된다.

본 발명은 상기와 같은 종래 기술의 문제점을 해결하기 위한 것으로, 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자와 용매-바인더 상호 작용인자를 이용하여 용매를 스크리닝하여 바인더 내 존재하는 고분자 입자가 적절한 팽윤 정도를 갖게 하는 최적의 용매를 포함하는 조성물, 이의 경화물을 포함하는 광학 필름 및 디스플레이 장치를 제공하고자 한다.
상기 목적을 달성하기 위하여 본 발명의 일 측면은,
고분자 입자, (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 및 용매를 포함하고, 상기 용매는, 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자(solvent-polymer interaction parameter) α Pi 및 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자(solvent-(meth)acrylate binder interaction parameter) α Bi를 이용하여 스크리닝된 용매를 포함하는 조성물을 제공한다.
또한 본 발명의 다른 일 측면은,
용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자(solvent-polymer interaction parameter) α Pi 및 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자(solvent-(meth)acrylate binder interaction parameter) α Bi를 이용하여 용매를 스크리닝하는 단계; 및 상기 스크리닝한 용매, 고분자 입자 및 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더를 포함하는 조성물을 제조하는 단계;를 포함하는 조성물의 제조방법을 제공한다.
또한 본 발명의 또 다른 일 측면은,
상기 조성물의 경화물을 포함하는 광학 필름 및 디스플레이 장치를 제공한다.
본 발명에 따르면, 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자와 용매-바인더 상호 작용인자를 이용하여 광학 필름용 조성물에 포함된 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 내 존재하는 고분자 입자의 용매에 대한 팽윤 정도를 정량적으로 예측할 수 있다.
보다 상세하게, 용매-고분자 입자-바인더의 3성분계 시스템인 조성물에 있어, 상기 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자와 용매-바인더 상호 작용인자를 이용하여 팽윤 현상으로 발생하는 고분자 입자 및 바인더의 부피 또는 무게 증가량을 예측할 수 있고, 해당 고분자 입자 및 바인더에 적합한 스크리닝된 용매가 포함될 수 있다.
따라서, 본 발명에 따른 조성물은 특성에 큰 영향을 미치는 용매에 대한 고분자 입자의 팽윤 현상을 실험 없이도 정확하게 평가하여 적합한 용매를 포함할 수 있다.

본 명세서에서, 제 1, 제 2 등의 용어는 다양한 구성요소들을 설명하는데 사용되며, 상기 용어들은 하나의 구성 요소를 다른 구성 요소로부터 구별하는 목적으로만 사용된다.
또한, 본 명세서에서 (메트)아크릴레이트[(Meth)acrylate]은 아크릴레이트(acrylate) 및 메타크릴레이트(Methacrylate) 양쪽 모두를 포함하는 의미이다.
또한, 본 명세서에서 (공)중합체는 공중합체(co-polymer) 및 단독 중합체(homo-polymer) 양쪽 모두를 포함하는 의미이다.

이하, 본 발명의 일 구현예에 따른 조성물, 이의 경화물을 포함하는 광학 필름 및 디스플레이 장치에 대해 설명한다.
발명의 일 구현예에 따른 광학 필름용 조성물은 고분자 입자, (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 및 용매를 포함하고, 상기 용매는, 계산된 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자(solvent-polymer interaction parameter) α Pi 및 계산된 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자(solvent-(meth)acrylate binder interaction parameter) α Bi를 이용하여 스크리닝된 용매를 포함한다.
고분자 입자가 용매에 노출되는 경우, 고분자 입자의 체인 사이 사이에 용매가 들어가 고분자 입자가 부풀어 오르는 팽윤(swelling) 현상이 일어나게 된다. 이러한 팽윤 현상에 따라 용매와 고분자 입자를 포함하는 조성물 내에서 고분자 입자의 부피 또는 무게 증가가 일어나게 되며, 이에 따라 조성물의 특성이 큰 영향을 받게 된다. 이러한 고분자 입자 팽윤 현상에 따른 조성물의 특성 변화는, 코팅, 반도체 패키징, 막분리, 리소그래피(lithography), 약물방출조절계 등 다양한 상황에서 발생하여 문제가 될 수 있다.
고분자 입자의 팽윤 현상에 영향을 미치는 요소로는 온도, pH, 고분자 입자의 가교(crosslinking) 정도, 고분자 입자의 구조, 분자량, 분자량 분포, 용매의 종류 등 다양한 인자가 있다. 특히, 고분자 입자가 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 내에 존재할 경우, 용매에 따라서 고분자 입자의 팽윤 정도가 크게 달라질 수 있다.
예를 들어, 광학 필름을 형성하기 위한 용도로 제공되며 고분자 입자, (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 및 용매를 포함하는 조성물에 있어서 고분자 입자가 적절히 팽윤되지 않으면, 코팅층 내에서 바인더와 고분자 입자 사이에 미세한 공간(void)이 생기고, 이에 따라 최종 필름의 헤이즈가 올라가는 문제점이 있다. 구체적으로, 헤이즈는 고온 및 고습 조건에서 영향을 크게 받는 것으로, 상기 바인더와 고분자 입자 사이에 미세한 공간(void)이 생김에 따라, 고온 및 고습 조건 전후의 헤이즈 변화량이 크게 증가하는 문제점이 있다. 반면, 상기 고분자 입자가 과도하게 팽윤되는 경우, 분산성이 낮아지거나 입자끼리의 결합 또는 뭉침이 증가하여 코팅면이 불균일해질 수 있다. 따라서 조성물의 특성을 조절하기 위하여 이러한 용매에 대한 고분자 입자의 팽윤 현상을 정확하게 평가하고 예측할 수 있는 방법이 필요하다.
이에 본 발명의 발명자들은, 용매에 대한 용질의 혼합 에너지(mixing energy)를 이용하여 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자(solvent-polymer interaction parameter)와 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자(solvent-(meth)acrylate binder interaction parameter)를 계산하고, 이 두 가지 상호작용 인자를 통해 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 내에 존재하는 고분자 입자를 원하는 정도로 팽윤시키는 용매를 실험 없이 스크리닝할 수 있음에 착안하여 본 발명을 완성하였다.

한편, 각 용매에 고분자 입자와 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더를 각각 일정 농도로 용해시켜 거동을 관찰할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 각 용매에 고분자 입자를 대략 3~10중량% 투입하고 대략 3분간 혼합한 후 용액을 관찰하는 경우, 고분자 입자의 종류에 따라 침전 속도가 상이하며, 일부 용매는 고분자 입자를 빠른 속도로 팽윤시켜 고분자 입자들 간의 엉긺(Aggregation)이 형성되는 것을 확인하여 적절한 용매를 스크리닝할 수 있다. 이러한 거동의 차이는 상술한 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자 α Pi와 상관관계를 나타낼 수 있다.
한편, 각 용매에 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더를 일정 농도로 투입 및 혼합 후 상술한 방법과 같이 거동을 관찰할 수 있으나, (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 자체가 투명하거나 침전이 잘 이루어지지 않음으로 인해, 용매 내에서 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 거동의 관찰이 어려워, 적절한 용매를 스크리닝할 수 없는 문제점이 있다.
그러나, 상기 일 구현예에 따른 광학 필름용 조성물은, 용매에 직접적으로 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 및 고분자 입자를 투입하지 않더라도, 상기 식 1로부터 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자인 α Pi를 계산하고, 상기 식 2로부터 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자인 α Bi를 계산하고, 선정된 2개의 기준 용매의 α Pi와 α Bi 사이의 값을 가지는 용매를 스크리닝하여, 해당 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더와 고분자 입자에 적절한 용매를 찾을 수 있다.
상기 조성물에 포함된 스크리닝된 용매의 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자 α Pi는 -0.50 내지 0.50, -0.45 내지 0.45, 또는 -0.40 내지 0.40일 수 있다. 또한, 상기 조성물에 포함된 스크리닝된 용매의 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자 α Bi는 -0.10 내지 0.20, -0.05 내지 0.15, 또는 -0.03 내지 0.13일 수 있다.
상기 스크리닝된 용매의 α Pi 의 값이 지나치게 작은 경우 고분자 입자 표면으로의 용매 침투가 강하게 나타나 고분자 입자가 용해되거나 크기가 작아질 수 있고, α Pi 의 값이 지나치게 큰 경우 고분자 입자 표면으로 용매가 침투되지 않아 공기와 수분에 의해 고분자 입자와 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 사이에 변형이 발생할 수 있다.
한편, 상기 스크리닝된 용매의 α Bi의 값이 지나치게 작은 경우 용매-바인더간 혼합이 불충분하여 경화물 내에 바인더가 불균일하게 분포할 수 있고, α Bi의 값이 지나치게 큰 경우 바인더와 고분자 입자간의 상호작용(Interaction)이 저하되어 고분자 입자의 응집이 나타나지 않을 수 있다.
또한, 상기 스크리닝된 용매는 디이소프로필에테르, 2-메틸-2-부탄올, 디에틸메틸아민, 벤젠 및 트리클로로에텐으로 이루어진 군에선 선택된 하나 이상을 포함할 수 있다.
한편, 상기 선정된 2개의 기준 용매는, 광학 필름용 조성물 및 하드코팅층에 포함되는 것이라면 특별히 제한이 없으나, 고분자 입자 또는 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더가 용매에 분산/용해되는 정도가 전혀 다른 2종의 용매로 선정될 수 있다. 구체적으로, 상기 용매-고분자 입자 상호 작용 인자 α Pi의 차이가 큰 용매 중에서, 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호 작용 인자 α Bi의 차이 또한 큰 용매 2개로 선정될 수 있다. 이러한 α Pi α Bi의 차이가 큰 용매 2개를 기준 용매로 선정함으로 인해, 고분자 입자에 대한 거동 차이가 큰 용매들 중에서도 다양한 용매 후보군을 선정할 수 있다. 또한, α Pi의 차이가 큰 용매 중에서, α Bi의 차이가 큰 용매 2개를 기준 용매로 선정함으로 인해, (매트)아크릴레이트 바인더와 용매의 상호작용보다는 고분자 입자와 용매의 상호작용이 크거나 작은 용매를 찾을 가능성이 높아질 수 있다. 상기 α Pi α Bi의 차이가 큰 용매 2개를 기준 용매로 사용하여 바인더와 용매의 상호작용 및/또는 고분자 입자와 용매의 상호작용이 크거나 작은 용매를 스크리닝하고, 이러한 스크리닝된 용매를 조성물에 포함함으로 인해, 고분자 입자-바인더 간의 적절한 혼합이 유도되어 고분자 입자의 응집이 균일하고, 특히, 고분자 입자의 응집체가 너무 작거나 크지 않게 형성되며, 고분자 입자 표면에 침투된 용매에 의해 바인더와 고분자 입자 표면간의 결합이 용이하게 이루어질 수 있다.
한편, 상기 기준 용매는 이로써 한정하는 것은 아니지만, 예를 들어, 톨루엔, 2-부탄올, n-부탄올, 메탄올, 에탄올, 이소프로필 알코올, 메틸에틸케톤, 메틸이소부틸케톤, 에틸아세테이트, 테트라 하이드로퓨란, 프로필렌 글리콜 메틸 에테르 아세테이트, 디이소프로필에테르, 2-메틸-2-부탄올, 디에틸메틸아민, 벤젠, 트리클로로에텐 및 프로필렌 글리콜 메틸 에테르로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 2종일 수 있다.
예를 들어, 상기 톨루엔과 2-부탄올의 경우, 고분자 입자-톨루엔의 혼합 에너지(상호작용 인자)와 고분자 입자-2-부탄올의 혼합 에너지(상호작용 인자) 값은 크게 차이가 나타나므로, 기준용매로 상기 톨루엔과 2-부탄올을 선정할 수 있다. 따라서, 선정된 2개의 기준 용매가 톨루엔 및 2-부탄올인 경우, 톨루엔의 α Pi 및 2-부탄올의 α Pi의 사이에 α Pi 값이 위치하고, 톨루엔의 α Bi 및 2-부탄올의 α Bi 의 사이에 α Bi 값이 위치하는 용매를 스크리닝하여, 상기 조성물에 스크리닝된 용매를 포함시킬 수 있다.
도 1은 상기 식 1로부터 계산한 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자, 및 상기 식 2로부터 계산한 용매-바인더 상호작용 인자를 도식화한 그래프인 것으로, (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더로는 2-하이드록시에틸아크릴레이트와 트리메틸올프로판 트리아크릴레이트가 1:1로 혼합된 바인더를 사용하고, 고분자 입자로는 Sekisui사의 113BQ를 사용하여, 상기 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자 및 용매-바인더 상호작용 인자를 계산하고, 이를 용매 별로 도시한 것이다.
이러한 도 1와 같은 상호작용 인자가 각각 도시화된 그래프를 통해, 기준 용매인 톨루엔 및 2-부탄올 각각의 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자 및 용매-바인더 상호작용 인자 사이에, α Pi 및 α Bi 값이 위치하는 용매를 스크리닝할 수 있다.
상기 스크리닝된 용매를 필수적으로 포함하는 상기 일 구현예에 따른 조성물은, 고분자 입자의 용해도가 높고, 용매에 대한 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더의 용해도가 높은 장점이 있다. 또한, 상기 조성물은, 선정된 2개의 기준 용매 중 적어도 하나를 포함하는 조성물에 비해서도, 고분자 입자 및 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더의 용해도가 현저히 높게 나타날 수 있다. 또한, 이러한 용매 스크리닝 방법은 용매 내 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더의 거동을 관찰할 수 없을 때에도 활용 가능한 장점이 있다.
또한, 이러한 스크리닝된 용매, 고분자 입자 및 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더를 포함하는 조성물은, 팽윤 현상 등을 정확하게 평가하고 예측하여 원하는 조성물의 특성을 나타낼 수 있으며, 특히, 기준 용매 보다, (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 내에 포함된 고분자 입자를 더 잘 팽윤시키는 용매 혹은 덜 팽윤시키는 용매를 선택할 수 있어, 상기 조성물의 팽윤 특성을 정밀하게 조절할 수 있다. 이렇게 선택된 용매를 포함한 상기 조성물 및 이의 경화물을 포함하는 광학 필름은 콘트라스트의 저하나, 시인성의 저하를 방지하여 광학 특성을 향상시키고, 특히, 고온 및 고습 조건 전후 헤이즈 변화량을 낮게 제어할 수 있다.
상기 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자 α Pi 및 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자 α Bi를 이용하여 스크리닝된 용매는 끓는점이 70 내지 150℃, 80 내지 140℃, 또는 90 내지 130℃일 수 있다. 상술한 끓는점을 만족하는 스크리닝된 용매는 30㎛ 이하의 박막 코팅시 건조오븐 내에서 용매의 휘발이 적절하게 이루어져 코팅성이 양호하고, (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 내에 고분자 입자가 적절하게 분포하여 양호한 광학 특성이 나타날 수 있다.
상기 일 구현예에 따른 조성물은, 상기 스크리닝된 용매 외에도 일반적으로 코팅용 조성물에 사용 가능한 용매를 더 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 탄소수 1 내지 6의 저급 알코올류, 아세테이트류, 케톤류, 셀로솔브류, 디메틸포름아마이드, 테트라하이드로퓨란, 프로필렌글리콜모노메틸에테르, 톨루엔 및 자이렌으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 1종 또는 1 종 이상의 혼합물을 사용할 수 있다.
이때, 상기 저급 알코올류는 메탄올, 에탄올, 부탄올, 이소프로필알코올, 부틸알코올, 이소부틸알코올, 또는 디아세톤 알코올 등을 예로 들 수 있으나, 상술한 예에 본 발명이 한정되는 것은 아니다. 그리고, 상기 아세테이트류는 메틸아세테이트, 에틸아세테이트, 이소프로필아세테이트, 부틸아세테이트, 또는 셀로솔브아세테이트가 이용될 수 있으며, 상기 케톤류는 메틸에틸케톤, 메틸이소부틸케톤, 아세틸아세톤, 또는 아세톤이 이용될 수 있으나, 상술한 예에 한정되는 것은 아니다.
보다 구체적으로, 상기 조성물은 2개의 기준 용매 중 적어도 하나를 더 포함할 수 있다.
상기 조성물이 상기 스크리닝된 용매 외에 기준 용매 등의 용매를 더 포함함에 따라, 고분자 입자의 응집이 과도하게 발현됨에 따른 광학 물성의 저하를 방지할 수 있고, 상기 조성물의 경화물인 코팅 필름의 밀착력 저하로 인해 박리되는 문제점을 방지할 수 있다.
상기 일 구현예에 따른 조성물에 포함되는 고분자 입자는 이로써 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 코팅용 조성물에 사용 가능한 고분자라면 제한 없이 사용할 수 있다. 비한정적인 예로, 상기 고분자 입자는 폴리올레핀계, 아크릴레이트계, 폴리우레탄계, 폴리에테르계, 폴리에스테르계, 폴리아미드계, 포름알데히드계 및 실리콘계고분자, 또는 이들 고분자의 모노머들 중 2개 이상의 모노머로부터 형성된 공중합체를 포함할 수 있으며, 상기 고분자들 중 2개 이상의 조합도 포함할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 폴리에틸렌(PE), 폴리비닐플루오라이드(PVF), 폴리비닐클로라이드(PVC), 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드(PVDF), 폴리비닐리덴클로라이드(PVDC), 폴리클로로트리플루오로에틸렌(PCTFE), 폴리테트라플루오로에틸렌(PTFE), 폴리프로필렌(PP), 에틸렌비닐아세테이트(EVA), 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트(PMMA), 폴리(1-부텐), 폴리(4-메틸펜텐), 폴리스티렌, 폴리비닐피리딘, 폴리부타디엔, 폴리이소프렌, 폴리클로로프렌, 스티렌-아크릴로니트릴 공중합체(SAN), 스티렌-아크릴레이트 공중합체, 스티렌-메타크릴레이트 공중합체, 스티렌-메틸메타크릴레이트 공중합체, 아크릴로니트릴-부타디엔-스티렌 삼원 공중합체, 에틸렌-메타크릴산 공중합체, 스티렌-부타디엔 고무, 니트릴 고무, 테트라플루오로에틸렌 공중합체, 폴리아크릴레이트, 폴리메타크릴레이트, 폴리아크릴아미드, 폴리비닐아세테이트, 폴리비닐알콜, 폴리비닐부티랄, 폴리비닐에테르, 폴리비닐피롤리돈, 폴리비닐카바졸, 폴리우레탄, 폴리아세탈, 폴리에틸렌글리콜, 폴리프로필렌글리콜, 에폭시 수지, 폴리페닐렌옥사이드, 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트, 폴리부틸렌테레프탈레이트, 폴리디하이드록시메틸사이클로헥실테레프탈레이트, 셀룰로오스에스테르, 폴리카보네이트, 폴리아미드, 폴리이미드, 및 폴리아릴렌 등을 포함할 수 있으나, 본 발명이 이에 한정되는 것은 아니다. 상기 고분자는 단독으로 또는 서로 다른 종류를 조합하여 포함할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 조성물에 포함되는 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더는 특별히 한정되지 않으며, 코팅용 조성물에 사용 가능한 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더라면 제한 없이 사용할 수 있다. 예를 들어, 상기 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더는 (메트)아크릴레이트계 단량체, (메트)아크릴레이트계 올리고머 또는 (메트)아크릴레이트계 단량체의 (공)중합체 등을 들 수 있다. 상기 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더는 단독으로 또는 서로 다른 종류를 조합하여 사용할 수 있다.
상기 (메트)아크릴레이트계 단량체 또는 올리고머는 (메트)아크릴레이트기를 1 이상, 2 이상, 또는 3 이상 포함하는 단량체 또는 올리고머일 수 있으며, 예를 들어, 하이드록시에틸(메트)아크릴레이트, 헥산디올디(메트)아크릴레이트, 부탄디올 디(메트)아크릴레이트, 헥사에틸 (메트)아크릴레이트, 부틸 (메트)아크릴레이트, 트리프로필렌글리콜 디(메트)아크릴레이트, 에틸렌글리콜 디(메트)아크릴레이트, 트리메틸올프로판 트리(메트)아크릴레이트, 트리메틸올프로판에톡시 트리(메트)아크릴레이트, 글리세린 프로폭실화 트리(메트)아크릴레이트, 펜타에리트리톨 테트라(메트)아크릴레이트, 펜타에리트리톨 트리(메트)아크릴레이트, 디펜타에리트리톨 펜타(메트)아크릴레이트, 디펜타에리트리톨 헥사(메트)아크릴레이트, 트리펜타에리트리톨 헵타(메트)아크릴레이트 및 이들의 2종 이상의 혼합물이나, 또는 우레탄 변성 아크릴레이트 올리고머, 에폭사이드 아크릴레이트 올리고머, 에테르아크릴레이트 올리고머, 덴드리틱 아크릴레이트 올리고머, 또는 이들의 2종 이상의 혼합물을 들 수 있다. 이때, 상기 올리고머의 분자량은 1,000 내지 200,000일 수 있다.
또한, 상기 (메트)아크릴레이트계 단량체의 중합체 또는 공중합체는 우레탄 아크릴레이트 올리고머, 에폭시 아크릴레이트 올리고머, 폴리에스터 아크릴레이트, 및 폴리에테르 아크릴레이트로 이루어진 반응성 아크릴레이트 올리고머 군; 및 디펜타에리스리톨 헥사아크릴레이트, 디펜타에리스리톨 하이드록시 펜타아크릴레이트, 펜타에리스리톨 테트라아크릴레이트, 펜타에리스리톨 트리아크릴레이트, 트리메틸렌 프로필 트리아크릴레이트, 프로폭시레이티드 글리세롤 트리아크릴레이트, 트리메틸프로판 에톡시 트리아크릴레이트, 1,6-헥산디올디아크릴레이트, 프로폭시레이티드 글리세롤 트리아크릴레이트, 트리프로필렌 글리콜 디아크릴레이트, 및 에틸렌글리콜 디아크릴레이트로 이루어진 다관능성 아크릴레이트 단량체 군에서 선택되는 1 종 이상의 단량체로부터 유래한 부분을 더 포함할 수도 있다.
또한, 상기 일 구현예에 따른 조성물에는, 상기 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 외에, 상기 비닐계 단량체, 비닐계 올리고머 또는 비닐계 단량체의 (공)중합체를 바인더로 더 포함할 수 있다. 상기 비닐계 단량체 또는 올리고머는 비닐기를 1 이상, 2 이상 또는 3 이상 포함하는 단량체 또는 올리고머일 수 있으며, 예를 들어, 비닐계 단량체는 디비닐벤젠, 스티렌 또는 파라메틸스티렌일 수 있다.
발명의 다른 일 구현예에 따르면, 상기 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자 α Pi 및 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자 α Bi를 이용하여 용매를 스크리닝하는 단계; 및 상기 스크리닝한 용매, 고분자 입자 및 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더를 포함하는 조성물을 제조하는 단계;를 포함하는 조성물의 제조방법을 제공한다.
상기 스크리닝한 용매는 상술한 바와 같은 방법으로 스크리닝될 수 있으며, 목적하는 조성물의 용도, 특성 등에 따라 적절한 용매를 스크리닝할 수 있다. 구체적으로, 상기 조성물 제조방법에서 상기 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자 α Pi 및 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자 α Bi를 이용하여 스크리닝된 용매를 사용함으로 인해, 용매에 대한 고분자 입자의 팽윤 현상을 실험 없이도 정확하게 평가하여 적합한 용매를 스크리닝하여 상기 조성물에 포함할 수 있다.
한편, 상기 다른 일 구현예에 따른 조성물 제조방법에 사용할 수 있는 상기 고분자 입자 및 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더는 상술한 조성물에 기재된 바와 같은 종류를 사용할 수 있다.
발명의 또 다른 일 구현예에 따르면, 상술한 조성물의 경화물을 포함하는 광학 필름을 제공한다.
상기 조성물은 상기 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자 α Pi 및 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자 α Bi를 이용하여 스크리닝된 용매를 포함하므로, 이러한 조성물의 경화물을 포함하는 광학 필름은 필름 내부에 용매가 모두 건조되지 않고 잔류하고 있더라도, 팽윤 현상으로 발생하는 고분자 입자 및 바인더의 부피 또는 무게 증가량을 예측할 수 있고, 특히, 용매에 대한 고분자 입자의 팽윤 현상을 실험 없이도 정확하게 평가하여 적합한 용매가 포함되게 할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 조성물의 경화물을 포함하는 광학 필름은 고온 및 고습 조건 하에서도 헤이즈 변화율이 낮게 나타날 수 있다. 구체적으로, 상기 광학 필름은 하기 식 3에 따른 헤이즈 변화량(△H)이 0.4% 이하, 0.3% 이하, 0.2% 이하, 또는 0.1% 이하일 수 있다.

상기 또 다른 일 구현예에 따른 광학 필름은 두께가 1 내지 100㎛, 2 내지 90㎛, 3 내지 80㎛, 또는 4 내지 70㎛일 수 있다.
발명의 또 다른 일 구현예에 따르면, 상술한 광학 필름을 포함하는 디스플레이 장치가 제공될 수 있다.
상기 광학 필름의 우수한 광학 특성으로 인하여, 상술한 광학 필름을 포함하는 디스플레이 장치에서 외광의 반사 또는 상의 비침에 의한 콘트라스트의 저하나, 시인성의 저하를 방지할 수 있다.
상기 디스플레이 장치의 구체적인 예가 한정되는 것은 아니며, 예를 들어 액정표시장치 (Liquid Crystal Display), 플라즈마 디스플레이 장치, 유기발광 다이오드 장치(Organic Light Emitting Diodes) 등의 장치일 수 있다.
하나의 일 예로, 상기 디스플레이 장치는 서로 대향하는 1쌍의 편광판; 상기 1쌍의 편광판 사이에 순차적으로 적층된 박막트랜지스터, 컬러필터 및 액정셀; 및 백라이트 유닛을 포함하는 액정디스플레이 장치일 수 있다.
상기 디스플레이 장치에서 상기 광학 필름은 디스플레이 패널의 관측자측 또는 백라이트측의 최외각 표면에 구비될 수 있다.
상기 광학 필름을 포함하는 디스플레이 장치는, 1쌍의 편광판 중에서 상대적으로 백라이트 유닛과 거리가 먼 편광판의 일면에 광학 필름이 위치할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 디스플레이 장치는 디스플레이 패널, 상기 패널의 적어도 일면에 구비된 편광자 및 상기 편광자의 패널과 접하는 반대측 면에 구비된 광학 필름을 포함할 수 있다.

이후, 톨루엔과 2-부탄올을 기준 용매로 사용하고, 톨루엔과 2-부탄올 각각의 α Pi 및 α Bi (A) 사이에 α Pi 및 α Bi (A) 값이 위치하면서 끓는점이 110℃ 이하인 용매 그룹A를 스크리닝하고, 기준용매인 톨루엔과 2-부탄올 각각의 α Pi 및 α Bi (B) 사이에 α Pi 및 α Bi (B) 값이 위치하면서 끓는점이 110℃ 이하인 용매 그룹B를 스크리닝하고, 기준용매인 톨루엔과 2-부탄올 각각의 α Pi 및 α Bi(C) 사이에 α Pi 및 α Bi(C) 값이 위치하면서 끓는점이 110℃ 이하인 용매 그룹C를 스크리닝하고, 기준용매인 톨루엔과 2-부탄올 각각의 α Pi 및 α Bi(D) 사이에 α Pi 및 α Bi(D) 값이 위치하면서 끓는점이 110℃ 이하인 용매 그룹D를 스크리닝하였다.
상술한 용매 스크리닝 결과, 상기 용매 그룹 A 내지 D에는 공통적으로 상기 디이소프로필에테르 및 2-메틸-2-부탄올이 포함되고, 이들이 스크리닝 용매에 해당함을 확인하였다. 이에, 상기 디이소프로필에테르 및 2-메틸-2-부탄올 각각의 끓는점, 증기압 및 스코어를 하기 표 3에 나타내었다. 또한, 상기 기준 용매인 톨루엔 및 2-부탄올 또한 끓는점, 증기압 및 스코어 또한 하기 표 3에 나타내었다.
이때, 스코어는 해당 용매와 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더간 혼합에너지(Δμ B)와 해당 용매와 고분자 입자간 혼합에너지(Δμ P) 차이를 의미하며, 다음 식 4를 통해 계산했다. 하기 표 3에 나타난 스코어 값은 상기 표 1의 아크릴레이트바인더 A를 사용하여 계산된 값이며, 이러한 스코어 값은 후술할 실시예 1에 해당된다.

(2) 조성물 제조
하기 표 4에 기재된 성분을 혼합하여 광학필름용 조성물을 제조하였다. 구체적으로, 실시예 1의 조성물은 상기 표 3에서 스크리닝된 용매 중 디이소프로필에테르를 사용하고, 실시예 2의 조성물은 상기 표 3에서 스크리닝된 용매 중 2-메틸-2-부탄올을 사용하였다. 또한, 실시예 1 및 2는 코팅필름에 포함된 고분자 입자의 응집을 적절히 조절하기 위해 2-부탄올 및 메틸이소부틸케톤을 더 사용하였다.
비교예 1 내지 3
하기 표 4에 기재된 성분을 혼합하여 광학필름용 조성물을 제조하였으나, 상기 표 3에서 스크리닝된 용매를 사용하지 않았다.

실험예
1. 광학 필름 제조
두께 80㎛의 폴리에틸렌 테레프탈레이트(PET) 기재에 상기 표 4에 기재된 실시예 및 비교예의 조성물을 각각 코팅하고 건조 및 광경화하여 광학 필름을 제조하였다.
구체적으로, 폴리에틸렌 테레프탈레이트 기재에 각각의 조성물을 #12번 mayer bar로 코팅한 후 60℃의 온도에서 2분 건조하고 UV 경화하였다. 이때, UV램프는 H bulb를 이용하였으며, 질소분위기 하에서 경화반응을 진행하였으며, 경화 시 조사된 UV광량은 150mJ/cm 2이다. 또한, 경화된 필름의 두께는 하기 표 5에 나타내었다.

2. 광학 필름 내 용매 잔류 분석
TD GC-Mass Chromatography를 통해 광학 필름에서 휘발된 VOC(Volatile Organic Component)를 통해 광학 필름 내 잔류 용매를 분석했다. 표준용액으로 메탄올에 희석한 톨루엔(농도 4ug/uL)을 사용하였다.
구체적으로, 표준용액 1 uL를 Tenax Tube에 주입(injection)한 뒤 캡(Cap)을 씌우고 TD로 분석하여 표준용액의 Peak Area 정보를 수집하였다. 이후 질량을 측정한 필름 샘플을 Hollow Tube에 넣고, 180℃에서 30 분간 가열한 후 휘발된 성분을 TD GC/MS Chromatography로 분석하여 해당 물질의 Peak Area를 확인하였다. 이후, 다음 식 5를 통해 휘발된 VOC를 계산하고, 이를 통해 광학 필름 내 잔류 용매의 함량을 도출하여 그 결과를 하기 표 6에 나타내었다.

상기 식 5에서, VOC compound는 측정 시료에서 발생한 개별 물질의 VOC 값 (ug/g)이고,
A compound는 측정 시료의 개별 물질 peak의 chromatogram area이고,
A std는 톨루엔 표준용액의 peak area이고,
C std는 톨루엔 표준용액을 사용하여 주입된 toluene 질량(약 4ug)이고,
W sample는 측정 시료의 무게(g)이다.
한편, TD GC-Mass Chromatography의 측정 조건은 다음과 같다.
GC oven: 50℃에서 10℃/min의 속도로 300℃까지 승온함
Column: HP-5MS (60 m x 0.32 mm x 0.25 um I.D)

상기 표 6에 따르면, 실시예 1 및 2는 광학 필름 내에 6 ug/g 이상의 용매가 남아 있으나, 비교예 1 내지 3에는 용매가 남아있지 않음을 확인했다. 이에 따라, 비교예 1 내지 3은 고분자 입자가 용매에 의해 팽윤되지 않아, 바인더와 고분자 입자들 간의 미세한 공간(Void)가 생김에 따라, 고온 및 고습 조건 전후의 헤이즈 변화량이 크게 증가할 것임을 예측할 수 있다.
3. 내습열 평가 전후 투과율 및 헤이즈 측정
실시예 및 비교예의 조성물을 사용해 각각 제조된 광학 필름에 대해 초기 투과율 및 헤이즈를 측정하였다. 구체적으로, 헤이즈 측정기 (HM-150, A광원, 무라카미 사 제조)를 사용하여, JIS K7361 규격에 의해 투과율을 측정하고, JIS K 7136 규격에 의해 헤이즈를 측정하고, 그 결과를 하기 표 7에 각각 초기 투과율 및 초기 헤이즈(Hf)로 나타내었다.
이후, 광학 필름을 온도 85℃ 및 습도 85%의 챔버에 넣어 24시간 방치시킨 후, 헤이즈 및 투과율을 측정하고, 그 결과를 하기 표 7에 각각 내습열 평가 후 투과율 및 헤이즈(Hi)로 나타내었다.
또한, 초기 헤이즈(Hf)와 내습열 평가 후 헤이즈(Hi)의 차를 계산하여, 내습열 평가 전후 헤이즈의 평가 정도를 하기 표 7에서 헤이즈 변화량(△H)으로 나타내었다.

상기 표 7에 따르면, 스크리닝된 용매를 포함하는 실시예 1 및 2의 조성물로 형성된 광학 필름은, 스크리닝된 용매를 포함하지 않는 비교예 1 내지 3의 조성물로 형성된 광학 필름에 비해, 내습열 평가 전후 헤이즈 변화량이 현저히 낮다는 점을 확인했다.

Claims (13)

  1. 고분자 입자, (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 및 용매를 포함하고,
    상기 용매는, 하기 식 1에 따라 계산된 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자(solvent-polymer interaction parameter) α Pi 및 하기 식 2에 따라 계산된 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자(solvent-(meth)acrylate binder interaction parameter) α Bi를 이용하여 스크리닝된 용매를 포함하는, 조성물:

  4. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 α Pi는 2개의 상이한 기준 용매 각각의 α Pi 값 사이에 위치하고,
    상기 α Bi는 2개의 상이한 기준 용매 각각의 α Bi 값 사이에 위치하는, 조성물.
  5. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 스크리닝된 용매는 끓는점이 70 내지 150℃인, 조성물.
  6. 제1 항에 있어서,
    상기 스크리닝된 용매는 디이소프로필에테르, 2-메틸-2-부탄올, 디에틸메틸아민, 벤젠, 및 트리클로로에텐으로 이루어진 군에선 선택된 하나 이상을 포함하는, 조성물.
  7. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 고분자 입자는 폴리에틸렌(PE), 폴리비닐플루오라이드(PVF), 폴리비닐클로라이드(PVC), 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드(PVDF), 폴리비닐리덴클로라이드(PVDC), 폴리클로로트리플루오로에틸렌(PCTFE), 폴리테트라플루오로에틸렌(PTFE), 폴리프로필렌(PP), 에틸렌비닐아세테이트(EVA), 폴리메틸메타크릴레이트(PMMA), 폴리(1-부텐), 폴리(4-메틸펜텐), 폴리스티렌, 폴리비닐피리딘, 폴리부타디엔, 폴리이소프렌, 폴리클로로프렌, 스티렌-아크릴로니트릴 공중합체(SAN), 스티렌-아크릴레이트 공중합체, 스티렌-메타크릴레이트 공중합체, 스티렌-메틸메타크릴레이트 공중합체, 아크릴로니트릴-부타디엔-스티렌 삼원 공중합체, 에틸렌-메타크릴산 공중합체, 스티렌-부타디엔 고무, 니트릴 고무, 테트라플루오로에틸렌 공중합체, 폴리아크릴레이트, 폴리메타크릴레이트, 폴리아크릴아미드, 폴리비닐아세테이트, 폴리비닐알콜, 폴리비닐부티랄, 폴리비닐에테르, 폴리비닐피롤리돈, 폴리비닐카바졸, 폴리우레탄, 폴리아세탈, 폴리에틸렌글리콜, 폴리프로필렌글리콜, 에폭시 수지, 폴리페닐렌옥사이드, 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트, 폴리부틸렌테레프탈레이트, 폴리디하이드록시메틸사이클로헥실테레프탈레이트, 셀룰로오스에스테르, 폴리카보네이트, 폴리아미드, 폴리이미드, 및 폴리아릴렌으로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 1종 이상을 포함하는, 조성물.
  8. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더는 (메트)아크릴레이트계 단량체, (메트)아크릴레이트계 올리고머 및 (메트)아크릴레이트계 단량체의 (공)중합체로 이루어진 군으로부터 선택되는 1종 이상인, 조성물.
  9. 제1항의 용매-고분자 입자 상호작용 인자(solvent-polymer interaction parameter) α Pi 및 용매-(메트)아크릴레이트 바인더 상호작용 인자(solvent-(meth)acrylate binder interaction parameter) α Bi를 이용하여 용매를 스크리닝하는 단계; 및
    상기 스크리닝한 용매, 고분자 입자 및 (메트)아크릴레이트 바인더를 포함하는 조성물을 제조하는 단계;를 포함하는 조성물의 제조방법.
  10. 제1항의 조성물의 경화물을 포함하는, 광학 필름.
  11. 제10항에 있어서,
    상기 광학 필름은 하기 식 3에 따른 헤이즈 변화량(△H) 0.4% 이하인, 광학 필름:

    상기 식 3에서,
    Hf는 온도 85℃ 및 습도 85%에서 24시간 유지시킨 후 광학 필름의 헤이즈이고,
    Hi는 고온 고습에서 유지시키기 전 광학 필름의 헤이즈이다.
  12. 제10항에 있어서,
    상기 광학 필름은 두께가 1 내지 100㎛인, 광학 필름.
  13. 제10항에 의한 광학 필름을 포함하는 디스플레이 장치.
