本実施形態に係るインクは、水不溶性着色剤、分散剤、ポリマー樹脂、及び水を含有し、ポリマー樹脂が、メタクリル酸、メタクリル酸C1-C4アルキル、アクリル酸C6-C10アルキル、及びメタクリル酸C2-C4不飽和アルキルから1種類ずつ選択される4種類のモノマーと、分子内にラジカル重合性の二重結合を有する反応性乳化剤とからなるものである。以下、本実施形態に係るインクに含有される成分について詳細に説明する。なお、以下に説明する各成分は、そのうちの1種類を単独で使用してもよく、2種類以上を併用してもよい。
水不溶性着色剤とは、25℃の水に対する溶解度が通常3g/L以下、好ましくは2g/L以下、より好ましくは1g/L以下である着色剤を意味する。
分散剤は、水不溶性着色剤をインク中に分散させる目的で使用される。分散剤としては特に制限されず、公知の分散剤が使用できるが、一般には樹脂等の高分子分散剤が用いられる。そのような樹脂としては、例えば、ポリビニルアルコール、セルロース系誘導体、ポリエチレンオキサイド、ポリプロピレンオキサイド、(メタ)アクリル酸、クロトン酸、イタコン酸、イタコン酸モノエステル、マレイン酸、マレイン酸モノエステル、フマール酸、フマール酸モノエステル、ビニルスルホン酸、スルホエチルメタクリレート、スルホプロピルメタクリレート、スルホン化ビニルナフタレンのα,β-不飽和モノマー等のイオン性モノマー、スチレン、スチレン誘導体、ビニルナフタレン、ビニルナフタレン誘導体、α,β-エチレン性不飽和カルボン酸の脂肪族アルコールエステル、アクリロニトリル、塩化ビニリデン、酢酸ビニル、塩化ビニル、(メタ)アクリルアミド、ヒドロキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、ヒドロキシプロピル(メタ)アクリレート、グリシジル(メタ)アクリレート、N-ブトキシメチル(メタ)アクリルアミド等から誘導されたポリマーが挙げられる。
ポリマー樹脂は、メタクリル酸、メタクリル酸C1-C4アルキル、アクリル酸C6-C10アルキル、及びメタクリル酸C2-C4不飽和アルキルから1種類ずつ選択される4種類のモノマーと、分子内にラジカル重合性の二重結合を有する反応性乳化剤とから構成される共重合体である。このようなポリマー樹脂を用いることにより、インクの保存安定性及び耐擦過性がより向上する傾向にある。

本実施形態に係るインクは、さらに、水溶性有機溶剤を含有することが好ましい。水溶性有機溶剤としては、例えば、メタノール、エタノール、プロパノール、イソプロパノール、ブタノール、イソブタノール、第二ブタノール、第三ブタノール等のC1-C6アルカノール;N,N-ジメチルホルムアミド、N,N-ジメチルアセトアミド等のカルボン酸アミド;2-ピロリドン、N-メチル-2-ピロリドン、N-メチルピロリジン-2-オン等のラクタム;1,3-ジメチルイミダゾリジン-2-オン、1,3-ジメチルヘキサヒドロピリミド-2-オン等の環式尿素類;アセトン、2-メチル-2-ヒドロキシペンタン-4-オン、エチレンカーボネート等のケトン又はケトアルコール;テトラヒドロフラン、ジオキサン等の環状エーテル;エチレングリコール、ジエチレングリコール、1,2-プロピレングリコール、1,3-プロピレングリコール、1,2-ブチレングリコール、1,4-ブチレングリコール、ジエチレングリコール、トリエチレングリコール、テトラエチレングリコール、ジプロピレングリコール、ポリエチレングリコール(好ましくは分子量400、800、1540、又はそれ以上のもの)、ポリプロピレングリコール、チオジグリコール、ジチオジグリコール等のC2-C6アルキレン単位を有するモノ、オリゴ、又はポリアルキレングリコール及びチオグリコール;グリセリン、ジグリセリン、ヘキサン-1,2,6-トリオール、トリメチロールプロパン等のC3-C9ポリオール(トリオール);エチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノアリルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノイソプロピルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノプロピルエーテル、プロレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル等のグリコールエーテル(好ましくはC3-C10のモノ、ジ、又はトリエチレングリコールエーテル、及びC4-C13のモノ、ジ、又はトリプロピレングリコールエーテルからなる群より選択されるグリコールエーテル);1,2-ペンタンジオール、1,5-ペンタンジオール、1,2-ヘキサンジオール、1,6-ヘキサンジオール、2-メチル-2,4-ペンタンジオール、2-エチル-1,3-ヘキサンジオール、2,4-ジエチル-1,5-ペンタンジオール等のC5-C9アルカンジオール;γ-ブチロラクトン;ジメチルスルホキシド;などが挙げられる。これらの中では、グリコールエーテル及びC5-C9アルカンジオールからなる群より選択される少なくとも1種の水溶性有機溶剤を用いることが好ましい。
本実施形態に係るインクは、上述した成分以外に、インク調製剤をさらに含有していてもよい。インク調製剤としては、例えば、界面活性剤(但し、反応性乳化剤に相当するものを除く)、防腐防黴剤、pH調整剤、消泡剤等が挙げられる。
本実施形態に係るインクをインクジェット記録用のインクとして使用するときは、インク中における金属陽イオンの塩化物(例えば、塩化ナトリウム)、硫酸塩(例えば、硫酸ナトリウム)等の無機不純物の含有率の少ないものを用いるのが好ましい。その無機不純物の含有率の目安は、着色剤の総質量に対しておおよそ1質量%以下程度である。下限は分析機器の検出限界以下、すなわち0質量%であってもよい。
本実施形態に係るインクジェット記録方法は、上述したインクの液滴を、記録信号に応じてインクジェットプリンタにより吐出させて記録メディアに付着させることにより記録を行うものである。インクジェット記録を行う際には、上述したインクが充填された容器をインクジェットプリンタの所定の位置に装填することにより、上記のように記録を行うことができる。
また、実施例中で使用した反応性乳化剤は、[({α-[2-(アリルオキシ)-1-({C10-C14アルキルオキシ}メチル)エチル]-ω-ヒドロキシポリ(n=1~100)(オキシエチレン)}を主成分とする、{C10-C14分岐鎖アルカノールと1-(アリルオキシ)-2,3-エポキシプロパンの反応生成物}のオキシラン重付加物)の硫酸エステル化物]のアンモニウム塩である。
ガラス製反応容器(容量3L)に、水(100部)、過硫酸アンモニウム(0.3部)、及び反応性乳化剤(1部)を加えて液を得た。反応容器内部の空気を窒素で置換した後、液の温度を70℃に昇温した。この液に、水(120部)、反応性乳化剤(0.9部)、メタクリル酸(2部)、メタクリル酸メチル(37部)、アクリル酸2-エチルヘキシル(59部)、及びメタクリル酸アリル(2部)からなる液を3時間かけて滴下した。液の滴下中は、窒素を導入しながら、液温を70℃に維持した。液の滴下終了後、さらに70℃で2時間反応させた後、40℃に冷却した。得られた液にトリエタノールアミン(3.1部)を加えることにより、固形分25%の白色懸濁液としてポリマー樹脂1のエマルジョンを得た。得られたポリマー樹脂1のエマルジョンを「PEM1」とする。得られたポリマー樹脂1の酸価は13mgKOH/g、ガラス転移点は-10℃であった。
メタクリル酸を5部、メタクリル酸メチルを33.5部、アクリル酸2-エチルヘキシルを60部、メタクリル酸アリルを1.5部に変更する以外は調製例1と同様にして、固形分25%の白色懸濁液としてポリマー樹脂2のエマルジョンを得た。得られたポリマー樹脂2のエマルジョンを「PEM2」とする。得られたポリマー樹脂2の酸価は33mgKOH/g、ガラス転移点は-5℃であった。
メタクリル酸を3部、メタクリル酸メチルを36部、アクリル酸2-エチルヘキシルを59部、メタクリル酸アリルを2部に変更する以外は調製例1と同様にして、固形分25%の白色懸濁液としてポリマー樹脂3のエマルジョンを得た。得られたポリマー樹脂3のエマルジョンを「PEM3」とする。得られたポリマー樹脂3の酸価は20mgKOH/g、ガラス転移点は-5℃であった。
反応性乳化剤の代わりにノニオン性乳化剤であるポリオキシエチレンアルキルエーテルを使用する以外は調製例1と同様にして、固形分24.9%の白色懸濁液としてポリマー樹脂4のエマルジョンを得た。得られたポリマー樹脂4のエマルジョンを「PEM4」とする。得られたポリマー樹脂4の酸価は13mgKOH/g、ガラス転移点は-10℃であった。
ガラス製反応容器(容量3L)に、水(60部)、ポリオキシエチレンアルキルエーテル(0.3部)、及び過硫酸アンモニウム(0.3部)を加えて液を得た。反応容器内部の空気を窒素で置換した後、液の温度を70℃に昇温した。この液に、水(70部)、ポリオキシエチレンアルキルエーテル(10部)、メタクリル酸(2部)、メタクリル酸メチル(50部)、アクリル酸2-エチルヘキシル(47部)、及びメタクリル酸アリル(1部)からなる液を3時間かけて滴下した。液の滴下中は、窒素を導入しながら、液温を70℃に維持した。液の滴下終了後、さらに70℃で2時間反応させた後、40℃に冷却し、固形分3.5%の白色懸濁液としてポリマー樹脂5のエマルジョンを得た。得られたポリマー樹脂5のエマルジョンを「PEM5」とする。得られたポリマー樹脂5の酸価は13mgKOH/g、ガラス転移点は10℃であった。
国際公開第2013/115071号の合成例3を追試することにより、ブロック共重合体(ブロック共重合体A)を得た。得られたブロック共重合体(6部)を2-ブタノン(20部)に溶解させ、均一な溶液とした。この液に、水酸化ナトリウム(0.45部)を水(52.3部)に溶解させた液を加え、1時間撹拌して液を得た。この液にカーボンブラック(20部、ORION ENGINEERED CARBONS社製のNerox 605)を加え、1500rpmの条件下で15時間、サンドグラインダー中で分散処理を行って液を得た。得られた液に水(100部)を滴下した後、この液を濾過することにより、濾液を得た。得られた濾液から2-ブタノン及び水の一部を減圧留去することにより、着色剤の含有率が12.3%である着色剤の分散液を得た。着色剤の含有率は、乾燥重量法により、液中の全固形分から着色剤の含有率の換算値として求めた。測定機器としては、株式会社エイ・アンド・デイ製のMS-70を使用した。
下記表2に記載の各成分を混合してそれぞれ総量100部の液を得た後、得られた液を孔径3μmのメンブランフィルターで濾過することにより、実施例1~3のインクを得た。
下記表2に記載の各成分を使用する以外は実施例1~3と同様にして、洗浄液を得た。
下記表3に記載の各成分を使用する以外は上記の実施例1~3と同様にして、比較例1~2のインクを得た。
また、表2及び表3中のPEM1~PEM5の欄の部数は、ポリマー樹脂1~5のエマルジョンの固形分量を示す。ポリマー樹脂4、5は、乳化剤と反応していないものの、疎水性相互作用により乳化剤が付着していると思われる。このため、ポリマー樹脂4、5のエマルジョンの固形分量としては、ポリマー樹脂4、5と使用した乳化剤との合計量を記載した。

PEM1~PEM5:調製例1~5でそれぞれ得たポリマー樹脂1~5のエマルジョン
各実施例及び比較例で得たインクを、京セラ株式会社製のインクジェットヘッドKJ4B-YH(600dpi×600dpi)を搭載したプリンターを用いて液滴サイズ12pl、速度25m/minの条件にて、UPM社製Finesse Gloss 90(コート紙)にインクジェット記録を行った。インクジェット記録は100%Dutyのベタ画像となるように行い、各実施例又は比較例のインクにより記録された記録画像を得た。なお、上記のようにして得た各試験片の測色には、X-rite社製の測色機、商品名eXactを使用した。測色条件は、濃度基準ISO ステータス T、視野角2°、光源D50である。
上記のようにして得た各試験片を用いて、Dk値(OD値)を測色した。結果を下記表4に示す。得られたDk値は大きい方が発色性に優れることを意味する。
各試験片の擦過性を、安田精機製作所製、No.428学振形摩耗試験機(摩擦試験機II形)を用いて評価した。すなわち、試験片に500gの荷重を掛けた状態で、インクジェット記録した部分を40回擦り合わせ、画像の劣化具合を下記3段階の評価基準で評価した。結果を下記表4に示す。
-評価基準-
A:記録画像の傷は、ほとんど確認できなかった。
B:記録画像に少しの傷が確認できた。
C:記録画像の傷が非常に大きかった。
各実施例及び比較例のインクをガラスシャーレ上に20μL滴下し、60℃の恒温槽に1時間静置して乾燥させることにより、インクが固化した固形物を得た。得られた固形物に調製例7で得た洗浄液を10mL滴下し、固形物を溶解除去できるか否かを目視にて評価した。評価基準は以下の4段階とした。結果を下記表4に示す。
-評価基準-
A:固形物の残存が認められず、均一な液となった。
B:わずかに固形物の残存が認められるが、ほぼ均一な液となった。
C:明らかに固形物が残存し、均一な液とは認められなかった。
D:固形物の形状が全く変化しなかったか、又はほとんど変化しなかった。
Claims (12)
- 水不溶性着色剤、分散剤、ポリマー樹脂、及び水を含有し、
前記ポリマー樹脂が、メタクリル酸、メタクリル酸C1-C4アルキル、アクリル酸C6-C10アルキル、及びメタクリル酸C2-C4不飽和アルキルから1種類ずつ選択される4種類のモノマーと、分子内にラジカル重合性の二重結合を有する反応性乳化剤とからなるポリマー樹脂であるインク。 - 前記反応性乳化剤が、分子内にアニオン性の基を有するアニオン型の反応性乳化剤である請求項1に記載のインク。
- 前記アニオン性の基が硫酸エステル基の塩である請求項2に記載のインク。
- さらに、水溶性有機溶剤を含有する請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載のインク。
- 請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載のインクの液滴を、記録信号に応じてインクジェットプリンタにより吐出させて記録メディアに付着させることにより記録を行うインクジェット記録方法。
- 前記記録メディアが、インク受容層を有する記録メディアである請求項5に記載のインクジェット記録方法。
- 前記記録メディアが、インク受容層を有しない記録メディアである請求項5に記載のインクジェット記録方法。
- 前記インクジェットプリンタが、ラインヘッド型のインクジェットプリンタである請求項5~7のいずれか1項に記載のインクジェット記録方法。
- 請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載のインクが付着した記録メディア。
- 前記記録メディアが、インク受容層を有する記録メディア、及びインク受容層を有しない記録メディアから選択される記録メディアである請求項9に記載の記録メディア。
- 請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載のインクが充填された容器を備えるインクジェットプリンタ。
- 前記インクジェットプリンタが、ラインヘッド型のインクジェットプリンタである請求項11に記載のインクジェットプリンタ。
