Abstract
Description
熱溶融転写方式により形成される画像は、高濃度で鮮鋭性に優れているため、該方式は、文字、線画等の2値画像の記録に適している。熱溶融転写方式によれば、宛名、顧客情報、ナンバリング、バーコード等の可変情報を、コンピューター及び熱転写プリンターを用いて、被転写体に記録できる。
基材と、前記基材上に設けられた転写層と、を備えた熱転写シートであって、
前記転写層は、少なくとも剥離層を備え、
前記剥離層が、アリル樹脂を含む、熱転写シート。
本開示による熱転写シートの実施形態について、図面を参照しながら説明する。図1~図7は、本開示による熱転写シートの一実施形態を示した概略断面図である。
本開示による熱転写シート10は、図1に示すように、基材11と、少なくとも剥離層12を備える転写層13とを備える。
一実施形態において、転写層13は、図2に示すように、剥離層12上に着色層14を備える。
一実施形態において、図3に示すように、転写層13は、剥離層12上に、保護層15を備える。転写層13が着色層14を備える場合、保護層15は、図4に示すように、着色層14上に設けられる。
一実施形態において、転写層13は、着色層14を2層以上備えてもよく、保護層15を2層以上備えてもよい。転写層13が、着色層14及び保護層15をそれぞれ2層以上ずつ備える場合、図5に示すように、着色層14が連続して設けられ、この上に連続した保護層15が設けられてもよいし、図6に示すように、着色層14と保護層15とが交互に連続して設けられてもよい。
一実施形態において、転写層13は、図7に示すように、最表面に、接着層16を備える。
一実施形態において、図1~7に示すように、熱転写シート10は、基材11の転写層13が設けられた面とは反対の面に背面層17を備える。
以下、本開示による熱転写シートが備える各層について説明する。
基材は、熱転写時に加えられる熱エネルギーに耐え得る耐熱性を有し、基材上に設けられる転写層等を支持できる機械的強度や耐溶剤性を有するものであれば、特に制限なく使用できる。
上記した樹脂材料の中でも、耐熱性及び機械的強度という観点から、PET及びPEN等のポリエステルが好ましく、PETが特に好ましい。
なお、本開示において、「(メタ)アクリル」とは「アクリル」と「メタクリル」の両方を包含する。「(メタ)アクリレート」とは「アクリレート」と「メタクリレート」の両方を包含する。
本開示の熱転写シートは、基材上に転写層を備える。転写層は、少なくとも剥離層を備える。本開示において、剥離層とは、転写層を構成する層のうち、基材と転写層とが接する面に配置される層である。
一実施形態において、転写層は、剥離層上に着色層を備える。他の実施形態において、転写層は、剥離層上に保護層を備える。転写層が着色層を備える場合、保護層は、着色層上に設けられる。さらに他の実施形態において、転写層は、最表面に接着層を備える。ここで、最表面とは、転写層が被転写体に転写される際に、被転写体と接する面を意味する。
一実施形態において、転写層は、着色層を2層以上備えてもよく、保護層を2層以上備えてもよい。転写層が、着色層及び保護層をそれぞれ2層以上ずつ備える場合、着色層が連続して設けられ、この上に連続した保護層が設けられてもよく、着色層と保護層とが交互に設けられてもよい。
剥離層は、少なくとも1種のアリル樹脂を含む。本明細書において、アリル樹脂とは、重合成分として、少なくとも1種のアリルモノマーを含む樹脂をいう。アリルモノマーとしては、ジアリルフタレート、トリアリルイソシアヌレート、ジアリルテトラブロムフタレート、アリルグリシジルエーテル、トリメチロールプロパンジアリルエーテル、ペンタエリスリトールトリアリルエーテル、トリメリット酸トリアリル、ピロメリット酸テトラアリル、ソルビン酸アリル、マレイン酸ジアリル、フマル酸ジアリル、クエン酸ジアリル及びブタンテトラカルボン酸テトラアリル等が挙げられる。これらの中でも、熱転写シートの転写性及び細線印字性という観点から、ジアリルフタレートが好ましい。
このようなアリル樹脂は、市販品を使用してもよく、一般式(1)で表されるアリル樹脂として、(株)大阪ソーダ製のダイソーダップ(登録商標)A、ダイソーダップ(登録商標)S及びダイソーダップ(登録商標)K等を使用できる。一般式(2)で表されるアリル樹脂として、大阪ソーダ製のダイソーイソダップを使用できる。一般式(3)で表されるアリル樹脂として、(株)大阪ソーダ製のラドパー(登録商標)AD-032を使用できる。
これらの中でも、転写層の箔持ち性の観点から、剥離層はポリエステルを含むことが好ましい。ここで、転写層の箔持ち性とは、転写層の意図しない基材からの剥離が抑制されることを意味する。
剥離層は、転写層の耐久性の観点から、ビニル樹脂、特には、塩化ビニル-酢酸ビニル共重合体を含むことが好ましい。
一実施形態において、転写層は、着色材及び上記アリル樹脂を含む着色層を備える。
着色層に含まれる着色材は、特に限定されるものではなく、染料であっても、顔料であってもよく、カドミウムレッド、カドモポンレッド、クロムレッド、バーミリオン、ベンガラ、アゾ系顔料、アリザリンレーキ、キナクリドン、コチニールレーキペリレン等の赤系着色材;イエローオーカー、オーレオリン、カドミウムイエロー、カドミウムオレンジ、クロムイエロー、ジンクイエロー、ネイプルスイエロー、ニッケルイエロー、アゾ系顔料、グリニッシュイエロー等の黄系着色材;ウルトラマリン、岩群青、コバルト、フタロシアニン、アントラキノン、インジコイド等の青系着色材、シナバーグリーン、カドミウムグリーン、クロムグリーン、フタロシアニン、アゾメチン、ペリレン等の緑系着色材;カーボンブラック等の黒系着色材;シリカ、炭酸カルシウム及び酸化チタン等の白系着色材;アルミニウム、ニッケル、クロム、真鍮、錫、黄銅、青銅、亜鉛、銀、白金、金及びこれらの酸化物、並びに金属蒸着が施されたガラス等の粒子等金属顔料;並びにチタン、鉄、ジルコニウム、ケイ素、アルミニウム及びセリウム等の金属酸化物により被覆された鱗系状アルミナ顔料及び雲母顔料等のパール顔料等が挙げられる。
一実施形態において、転写層は、転写層の箔持ち性の観点から、剥離層又は着色層上に、上記アリル樹脂を含む保護層を備えてもよい。
保護層は、転写層の耐久性の観点から、ビニル樹脂、特には塩化ビニル-酢酸ビニル共重合体を含むことが好ましい。ビニル樹脂の数平均分子量(Mn)及びガラス転移(Tg)、アリル樹脂との含有量比、及び保護層におけるビニル樹脂の含有量の好ましい範囲は、剥離層における場合と同様である。
一実施形態において、転写層は、最表面(即ち、転写層が被転写体に転写される際に、被転写体と接する面)に、上記アリル樹脂を含む接着層を備える。接着層に着色材が含まれていると、接着層と被転写体との密着性が低下し、熱転写シートの転写性及び細線印字性の低下を引き起こしうるが、接着層にアリル樹脂を含有させることにより、接着層と被転写体との密着性の低下を抑制でき、被転写体に形成される画像濃度を効果的に向上できる。
塩化ビニル-酢酸ビニル共重合体における好ましい酢酸ビニルの構成割合、ビニル樹脂の数平均分子量(Mn)及びガラス転移(Tg)の好ましい範囲は、上述した通りである。アリル樹脂との含有量比及びビニル樹脂の含有量の好ましい範囲は、着色層における場合と同様である。
一実施形態において、本開示の熱転写シートは、基材の主面のうち、転写層が設けられていない基材の面側に、背面層を備える。熱転写シートが背面層を備えることにより、熱転写時の加熱によるスティッキングやシワの発生等を抑制できる。
有機粒子としては、(メタ)アクリル樹脂、テフロン(登録商標)樹脂、シリコーン樹脂、ラウロイル樹脂、フェノール樹脂、アセタール樹脂、スチレン樹脂及びポリアミド等からなる有機樹脂粒子、又はこれらを架橋材と反応させた架橋樹脂粒子等が挙げられる。これら有機粒子は1種単独で使用してもよく、2種以上を併用してもよい。

[5] 前記接着層が、着色材を含む、[4]に記載の熱転写シート。
[6] 前記アリル樹脂が、重合成分として、ジアリルフタレートを含む、[1]~[5]のいずれか一項に記載の熱転写シート。
[7] 前記アリル樹脂が、下記一般式(1)~(4)からなる群より選択される少なくとも1種の樹脂である、[1]~[6]のいずれか一項に記載の熱転写シート。
[8] 前記アリル樹脂の重量平均分子量(Mw)が、5,000以上100,000以下である、[1]~[7]のいずれか一項に記載の熱転写シート。
[9]前記剥離層が、ポリエステルをさらに含む、[1]~[8]のいずれか一項に記載の熱転写シート。
[10]前記剥離層における、前記ポリエステルの含有量と前記アリル樹脂の含有量との比(ポリエステルの含有量/アリル樹脂の含有量)が、質量基準で、10/90以上85/15以下である、[9]に記載の熱転写シート。
[11]前記接着層が、ビニル樹脂をさらに含む、[1]~[10]のいずれか一項に記載の熱転写シート。
[12]前記接着層における、前記ビニル樹脂の含有量と前記アリル樹脂の含有量との比(ビニル樹脂の含有量/アリル樹脂の含有量)が、質量基準で、10/90以上60/40以下である、[11]に記載の熱転写シート。
厚さ4.5μmのPETフィルムの一方の面に、下記組成の剥離層形成用塗工液を塗布、乾燥し、厚さ1.0μmの剥離層を形成した。

カードプリンター(HID-5000、HID社製、サーマルヘッド:主走査方向解像度300dpi、副走査方向解像度300dpi)を使用し、上記実施例及び比較例において得られた熱転写シートが備える転写層を、塩化ビニル製カード上に転写することでベタ画像(0/255画像階調)を形成し、印画物を得た。
形成した画像を目視により観察し、下記評価基準に基づいて評価した。評価結果を表1~3に示す。
(評価基準)
A:抜け及びカスレの発生が見られなかった。
B:抜け及びカスレの発生が少し見られた。
C:抜け及びカスレの発生が見られた。
NG:転写層が転写されず、実用上問題があった。
カードプリンター(HID-5000、HID社製、サーマルヘッド:主走査方向解像度300dpi、副走査方向解像度300dpi)を使用し、上記実施例及び比較例において得られた熱転写シートが備える転写層を、塩化ビニル製カード上に転写することで3dot分の細線を含む画像を形成し、印画物を得た。
形成した画像を目視により観察し、下記評価基準に基づいて評価した。評価結果を表1~3に示す。
(評価基準)
A:ツブレ及びカスレの発生が見られなかった。
B:ツブレ及びカスレの発生が少し見られた。
C:ツブレ及びカスレの発生が見られた。
NG:ツブレ及びカスレの発生が多く見られ、実用上問題があった。
上記転写性試験において得られた印画物に対して、テーバー試験機(摩耗輪CS-10F)を用いて、ANSI-INCITS322-2002、5.9 Surface Abrasionに準拠するテーバー試験(荷重500gf、60サイクル/min.)を実施した。
50サイクル完了ごとに、画像の濃度を上記同様に測定し、画像濃度が50%低下した際のサイクル数を確認し、下記評価基準に基づいて評価した。評価結果を表1~3に示す。なお、比較例1及び2については、転写層を転写できなかったため、「-」とした。(評価基準)
A:400サイクル以上
B:300サイクル以上400サイクル未満
C:200サイクル以上300サイクル未満
D:200サイクル未満
上記転写性試験において、実施例1~10の熱転写シートを用いて得られた印画物と、可塑材入り軟質塩化ビニルシート(三菱ケミカル(株)製、アルトロン(登録商標))とを重ね合わせ、40g/cm2の荷重をかけた状態で、50℃の環境で60時間静置した。
静置後、軟質塩化ビニルシートを除き、印画物に形成された画像を目視により観察し、下記評価基準に基づいて、評価した。評価結果を表4に示す。
(評価基準)
A:試験前後で画像に変化が見られず、高い耐可塑材性を確認できた。
B:画像に滲みが生じた。
