Definitions
- the present invention generally relates to the fixing of equipment in motor vehicles.
- It relates more particularly to a pre-assembly system adapted to facilitate the attachment of equipment to a structural element of a motor vehicle.
- the invention finds a particularly advantageous application in the attachment of a head-up display to the dashboard of a motor vehicle.
- a head-up display adapted to display or project information (vehicle speed, direction to follow, etc.) at eye level of the driver when the latter observes the road.
- Such a display comprises either a conventional display screen, but positioned near the windshield, or an image forming device coupled to an image return system which makes it possible to reflect the light beam emitted by the forming device images to a partially reflective plate (commonly called a “combiner”) located in the driver's field of vision (or directly towards the windshield).
- a partially reflective plate commonly called a “combiner”
- Such a display in all cases comprises a chassis which is designed to be placed in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, more precisely on or in the dashboard of the vehicle, that is to say under the windshield.
- a head-up display which comprises a chassis equipped with two wings each having two openings for passage of fixing screws.
- Each wing has, under each of its openings, a pre-assembly system.
- Each pre-assembly system includes a clipping means to attach under the wing and a screw hole which is placed under the opening. This screw hole allows you to pre-screw the fixing screw in order to keep it in a high position (not yet screwed into the dashboard).
- This pre-assembly system thus makes it possible to retain the fixing screws in positions such that once the display is well adjusted in relation to the dashboard, these screws find themselves well centered and held above the tapped bores provided in the dashboard. The screwing operation is then made easier since it does not require positioning the screws and holding them by hand while they are screwed.
- the present invention proposes a less annoying pre-assembly system.
- a pre-assembly system adapted to facilitate the fixing of equipment (typically the head-up display) on a structural element of a motor vehicle (typically the dashboard), this equipment comprising a frame part which has at least one opening and a fixing screw engaged through said opening.
- the pre-assembly system comprises: - a fixing means adapted to attach to said chassis part,
- a holding means adapted to hold the fixing screw along a main axis and in a pre-assembly position through the opening
- a deformable part which, at rest, is adapted to maintain the holding means in a spaced position relative to the chassis part (and therefore relative to the fixing means) along the main axis, and which is adapted to s 'crush to bring the holding means back into a position closer to the chassis part (and therefore to the fixing means) along the main axis thanks to the screwing of the fixing screw on the structural element.
- the pre-assembly system is raised relative to the chassis part as long as the fixing screw is not screwed into the structural element of the motor vehicle.
- the assembly takes up less space below the chassis part.
- the pre-assembly system may then not protrude under this chassis part. Therefore, it does not prevent the installation of this chassis part on the structural element of the motor vehicle.
- the holding means comprises a well through which the fixing screw is adapted to screw; - one end of the well is bordered, on at least part of its contour, by a support wall from the edge of which extends said at least one deformable part; - the well is bordered over its entire contour by the support wall; - the deformable part is elastically deformable;
- the deformable part comprises at least two arms which each have a first end fixed to the support wall and a free end located at a different height from the first end along the main axis, on the side of the well in relation to the wall support;
- each arm extends substantially radially relative to the main axis; - each arm extends substantially orthoradially relative to the main axis; - the well has a projecting interior face from which rise at least three ribs into which a thread of the fixing screw is adapted to bite; - locking means are provided adapted to lock the well in rotation relative to the frame part; - the blocking means comprise at least one rib which extends projecting from an exterior face of the well and/or from a face of the support wall;
- the fixing means and the holding means are secured to each other by an elastically deformable connecting tab which is preferentially curved in a plane orthogonal to the main axis;
- the blocking means comprise at least one support stop against which the elastically deformable connecting tab is adapted to abut when screwing in the fixing screw;
- the fixing means is adapted to clip into an opening provided in said frame part;
- two means are provided for holding two fixing screws, which are secured together so as to be movable relative to each other in a plane orthogonal to the main axis.
- the invention also proposes a display for a motor vehicle, comprising a chassis part which has at least one opening, a fixing screw engaged through the opening, and a pre-assembly system as mentioned above, the fixing means of which is fixed to said chassis part.
- the chassis part comprises engagement means adapted to engage in complementary receiving means of the structural element of the motor vehicle, by a sliding movement.

- motor vehicle 1 It could be any vehicle (car, bus, truck, etc.), but the invention applies preferentially to cars.
- This motor vehicle 1 conventionally comprises a chassis and a body which delimit a passenger compartment for the driver and for the passengers of the vehicle.
- This passenger compartment is closed at the front by a windshield 3 through which the driver can observe the road. It also houses various elements, including seats and a dashboard 10 located at the front of the passenger compartment, under the windshield 3.
- this dashboard 10 here comprises a mechanically welded metal structure 19 covered on top by a plastic part, here an aerator duct 18.
- This motor vehicle 1 also includes any equipment to be screwed into an awkward access area.
- a head-up display 20 to be screwed onto the top of the dashboard 10, near the windshield 3 (see ).
- the head-up display 20 is here designed to be fitted into the dashboard 10 so as to emerge therefrom near the windshield 3.
- This head-up display 20 could be presented in different forms.
- it could include one or more display screens (typically LCD) adapted to display images in the driver's field of vision when the latter looks at the road. This display is then distinguished from the other screens of the vehicle in that it is located above the upper face of the dashboard.
- LCD display screens
- the head-up display 20 could comprise an image forming device (for example an LCD screen) located under the upper surface of the dashboard, and an image return system (for example a game of mirrors) allowing images to be returned to the driver's field of vision when the latter looks at the road, above the dashboard.
- an image forming device for example an LCD screen
- an image return system for example a game of mirrors
- this head-up display 20 includes a frame which allows it to be fixed to the dashboard (here to the mechanically welded metal structure, over the aerator duct 18).
- chassis part 21 the chassis of the head-up display 20 comprises a particular part (hereinafter called "chassis part 21") which is illustrated on the and which is specifically designed to allow the fixation of the chassis on the dashboard 10 of the motor vehicle 1.
- This chassis part 21 here has a U shape, with two arms 23 connected by a base 24. Of course, it could have a very different shape.
- This chassis part 21 comprises nesting means 22' and centering means 26 on the dashboard 10, and screwing means 25' to this dashboard.
- the centering means 26 serve to facilitate the installation of the chassis part 21 on the dashboard 10 so that the screwing means are correctly positioned relative to it. They are for example in the form of a split tab adapted to cooperate with a lug of the dashboard 10 (not visible) by straddling it.
- the interlocking means 22' comprise, at the free ends of the arms 23, teeth 22 designed to engage in housings 12 formed in correspondence by the dashboard 10.
- the centering means 26 and nesting means 22' then make it possible to pre-block the chassis part 21 on the dashboard 10.
- the screwing means 25' serve to ensure robust fixing of these two elements.
- they include, in each arm 23, at least one passage opening for a fixing screw 31.
- each arm has more precisely two passage openings 25 each accommodating a screw 31 (see ).
- Assembling the chassis part 21 with the dashboard 10 consists of sliding the chassis part 21 on the dashboard 10, in a sliding direction illustrated by the arrow F1, then bolting the chassis part 21 on the dashboard 10.
- the mechanically welded structure 19 of the dashboard 10 comprises for this purpose four threaded bores 17 or four welded bolts.
- the screws could be self-tapping in order to be able to screw into simple bores provided in the mechanically welded structure 19.
- the upper face of the dashboard 10 has two substantially flat portions on which the two arms 23 of the chassis part 21 can slide.
- the lower face of each arm 23 must be free of relief forming an obstacle to sliding.
- the screws 31 are pre-assembled on the chassis part 21 before the latter is attached to the board. edge 10. In this way, the screwing operation will be made easier.
- the screws 31 are in contact with the chassis part 21. Indeed, the screws 31 being made of steel, there would be a risk of galvanic corrosion if the latter touched the chassis part 21 in magnesium alloy.
- chassis part 21 is equipped with pre-assembly systems 100 for screws 31.
- each pre-assembly system 100 is provided in each arm 23.
- each pre-assembly system 100 is here provided to receive two screws 31.
- this pre-assembly system 100 is shown in bottom view.
- this pre-assembly system 100 is made up of at least two parts, namely: - a fixing means 110 adapted to attach to said chassis part 21, and - one or two holding means 120 adapted to hold a fixing screw 31 along a main axis A1 and in a pre-assembly position through the opening 25.
- the fixing means 110 here comprises a latching member 111 adapted to clip into an opening (not visible in the figures) provided in the frame part 21.
- the holding means 120 comprises a well 121 through which the screw 31 is adapted to screw.
- This well 121 is preferably bordered, on the side of its upper end, by a support wall, here in the form of a collar 124 adapted to come to rest against the upper face of the frame part 21, around of the passage opening of the screw 31.
- the well 121 and its collar 124 form an interface preventing the screw 31 from coming into contact with the chassis part 21.
- latching member 111 and the well 121 have fixed positions relative to each other.
- the latching member 111 is clipped into the opening provided in the chassis part 21 and once the latter is centered on the dashboard 10, the well 121 is not located exactly in the axis of the tapped bore 17 intended to receive the screw 31. Consequently, preferably, the latching member 111 and the well 121 are connected by an elastically deformable connecting tab 140 making it possible to leave the well 121 a sufficient freedom for the screw 31 to be screwed into the threaded bore of the dashboard 10.
- the clearance offered by this elastically deformable connecting tab 140 is preferably 1.7 mm in two directions of space (here in the plane of the collar 124).
- the elastically deformable connecting tab 140 is therefore shaped so that the latching member 111 and the well 121 are movable relative to each other in a plane orthogonal to the main axis A1.
- it is also shaped so that the latching member 111 and the well 121 are movable relative to each other along the main axis A1, with a clearance of approximately 2.5 mm.
- the pre-assembly system 100 then further comprises an elastically deformable part 130 which is adapted to maintain the flange 124 in a position spaced relative to the chassis part 21 along the main axis A1, and to crush automatically to bring the collar 124 into contact with the chassis part 21 thanks to the screwing of the fixing screw 31 on the structural element 10.
- the well 121, the collar 124, the elastically deformable connecting tab 140, the latching member 111 and the elastically deformable part 130 could be in various shapes.
- the well 121 has a cylindrical shape of revolution around the main axis A1.
- Well 121 is open downwards and upwards so that screw 31 can pass through it.
- the lower end of this well 121 is partially closed by a wall pierced in its center by an orifice 127.
- the screw 31 has an end (opposite its head) smooth and devoid of thread which is adapted to be housed in the orifice 127 in order to hold the screw 31 there.
- this well 121 has, over a major part of its height, three slots parallel to the main axis A1, which are regularly distributed around this axis and which open down. These slots thus delimit three well parts between them, which are then adapted to move away elastically from the main axis A1 when the screw is screwed into the well 121.
- the well 121 does not have a slot and a wall pierced by an orifice.
- the well 121 is completely open upwards and downwards, and it has a cylindrical inner face projecting from which rise at least three ribs 122 in which the thread of the screw 31 is adapted to bite.
- the thread of the screw 31 is designed to hook onto the ribs 122 only, without biting into the interior face of the well 121 (which reduces the screwing torque necessary for installing the screw 31 ).
- These ribs 122 extend in length parallel to the main axis A1, and they have transverse sections (in a plane orthogonal to the main axis A1) uniform and triangular in shape, with the vertices turned towards this axis.
- the collar 124 which borders the upper end of the well 121 extends here over more than half of the contour of the well in order to form a good support for the head of the screw 31. It is however interrupted so as to that the elastically deformable connecting tab 140 can attach to the well 121.
- the collar 124 can extend all around the well 121, so that the head of the screw 31 can rest uniformly on it (which allows it to be well distribute the constraints).
- This collar 124 has flat upper and lower faces. As shown, for example, by , the lower face of the flange is intended to rest against the upper face of the chassis part 121, while the upper face of the flange 124 is intended to receive the screw head 31.
- the height h2 of the well 121 is chosen so that, once the screw is screwed into this well, it remains well held in position, along the main axis A1 . In particular, it must be able to withstand significant forces, of the type exerted by a screwdriver.
- This height h2 is here greater than the thickness of the frame part 21.
- the elastically deformable part 130 is intended to raise the well 121 in a waiting position illustrated in Figures 6 and 7, in which the lower end of the well 121 does not protrude under the frame part 21.
- the elastically deformable part 130 (which we recall is used to achieve this elevation) comprises several arms 131, which each have a first end fixed to the well 121 and a free end located at a different height from the first end (along the main axis A1).
- the elastically deformable part 130 comprises exactly three arms 131 whose first ends are attached to the peripheral edge of the collar 124.
- each arm 131 is curved at right angles to attach to the collar.
- the rest of each arm 131 extends substantially orthoradially with respect to the main axis A1 (that is to say in a plane which is perpendicular to the plane containing this axis and passing through the first end of the arm ).
- Each arm 131 is also naturally curved downwards, here in the shape of an S.
- naturally we mean that at rest, when no effort is exerted on the arm, the latter presents this S shape.
- the free end of each arm 131 can rest against the upper face of the chassis part 21.
- the well 121 has, projecting from its exterior face, an exterior rib 123 which extends radially in a plane containing the main axis A1.
- This outer rib 123 is attached not only to the then 121 but also to the collar 124, which makes it more rigid. It is designed to be housed in a notch provided in the edge of the opening 25 of the chassis part 21 and to come to rest against an edge of this notch when screwing in the screw 31. It will be noted that this notch has dimensions greater than that of the outer rib 123, so as to leave the desired clearance between the well 121 and the edge of the opening 25.
- the means for blocking the well 121 so that it does not rotate are in the form of a stop 128.
- This stop 128 is a small wall which extends projecting at the -above the collar 124, in a position such that, when the screw 31 is screwed in and the well 121 begins to rotate around its main axis A1, this stop 128 comes to rest against the elastically deformable connecting tab 140, which blocks the rotation of well 121.
- this fixing means 110 comprises a support 112 formed by a square front wall bordered towards the bottom by a stiffening side wall.
- the elastically deformable connecting tab(s) 140 (which connect this fixing means 110 to each well 121) are attached here to this side wall.
- the latching member 111 comprises two identical latching tabs positioned back-to-back. Each tab has a flexible strip which rises from the underside of the front wall of the support 112, downwards. The flexible slats extend, when at rest, so as to move slightly away from each other. Each strip has, at its free end, on its face facing away from the other latch tab, a hooking tooth. This member is therefore adapted to automatically attach to the frame part 21 when the pre-assembly part 100 is attached above the corresponding opening provided in the frame part 21.
- the lower face of the side wall of the support 112 extends in a plane parallel to and distinct from the plane of the lower face of the flange 124. These two planes are intended to merge when the screw 31 is completely screwed into its tapped bore 17.
- the elastically deformable connecting tab 140 which connects this fixing means 110 to the well 121, is formed by a strip which, at rest, is preferentially curved in an S shape in a plane orthogonal to the main axis A1.
- This slat has a cross section whose height (parallel to this axis) is greater than the width, which offers it the flexibility sought in the plane orthogonal to the main axis A1. In this way it ensures well 121 mobility in this plane.
- two wells 121 are therefore provided located on either side of the fixing means 110. These two wells are connected to this fixing means 110 by two distinct elastically deformable connecting tabs 140, which attach on either side other of the side wall of the support 112. Thus the two wells 121 are secured together so as to be mobile relative to each other.
- the pre-assembly system 100 is formed in one piece by molding a plastic material such as polyamide 6 (PA6) or polyoxymethylene (POM).
- a plastic material such as polyamide 6 (PA6) or polyoxymethylene (POM).
- the well 121 has no collar and its three arms 131A extend directly from the exterior face of the well 121, radially relative to the main axis A1. These arms 131A are inclined downwards, at the same angle of between 5 and 45 degrees.
- the arms 131A are formed by the same conical part which is cut into three arms by two slots and by a cutout for the passage of the elastically deformable connecting tab 140.
- Each arm 131A therefore has an increasing width from its end attached to the well 121 towards its free end.
- the well 121 carries a collar 124 and the three arms 131B extend radially from this collar 124.
- This variant mainly differs from the previous one in that each arm 131B has a constant width from its end attached to the collar 124 towards its free end. These three arms therefore each extend in a plane inclined downwards relative to the plane of the collar 124.
- each arm 131C has a first part which is directly attached to the well 121 and which extends in a plane orthogonal to the main axis A1, which first part is extended by a second part inclined downwards.
- more than three 131D arms are planned. Eight are provided here, which extend substantially orthoradially relative to the main axis A1. These arms are identical. They attach to the collar 124 by a first end curved at a right angle. The majority of each arm extends, at rest, in a plane orthogonal to the main axis A1. But the free end of each arm has, on its underside, a lug whose end extends under the underside of the collar.
- the pre-assembly system could be used to attach equipment other than a head-up display, for example a mobile phone support arm.
