Definitions
- the present invention relates to a fastening aid and a fastening system, and in particular to a fastening aid and a fastening system in which the object to be fastened by the bolt is a soft material such as resin.
- Patent Document 1 discloses a fastening aid called a helical insert that has a protrusion, also called a tang, that serves as a portion for hooking a special tool when attaching it to an object to be fastened.
- the helical insert described in Patent Document 1 requires the troublesome task of cutting off the protrusion after attaching it to the object to be fastened, and the troublesome task of retrieving the cut protrusion through the helical insert.
- Non-Patent Document 1 discloses a fastening aid called a tangless insert that does not have the above-mentioned protrusions in order to solve the problems of Patent Document 1.
- a fastening aid called a tangless insert that does not have the above-mentioned protrusions in order to solve the problems of Patent Document 1.
- the tangless insert described in Non-Patent Document 1 is called tangless, it has a structure that does not have protrusions, so there is no need to carry out the above-mentioned work.
- Non-Patent Document 1 includes a video showing that the fastening time, which was 56 seconds for an insert equivalent to the helical insert described in Patent Document 1, was significantly reduced to just 7 seconds for a tangless insert.
- Non-Patent Document 1 the operation of fastening the tangless insert to the fastening target in Non-Patent Document 1 is merely an intermediate operation in the final process of fastening the bolt. If the bolt fastening operation takes 8 seconds, the same as the tangless insert fastening operation time, then it will take a total of 16 seconds to complete the final process, but there is a demand to further shorten the fastening operation time of the tangless insert and bolt.
- both the helical insert of Patent Document 1 and the tangless insert of Non-Patent Document 1 require the use of a dedicated tool for fastening work.
- dedicated tools are inevitably expensive, which is an obstacle to making the final product more affordable.
- the objective of the present invention is to further reduce the time required to tighten helical inserts (tangless inserts) and bolts.
- Another objective of the present invention is to provide a fastening aid that can be fastened without using a special tool.
- the present invention provides A fastening aid made of a wire processed into a spiral shape that reinforces the female thread of a tapped hole formed in an object to be fastened by a bolt.
- the side of the tapped hole has a tapered portion, The inner diameter of the tapered portion is equal to or smaller than the root diameter of the male thread of the bolt.
- the inner diameter of the tapered portion can be 90% to 95% of the root diameter of the male thread of the bolt.
- the number of turns of the wire at the tapered portion may be one or more, but if it is two or more turns, there is an advantage in that it is easier to fasten the wire to an object to be fastened if the diameter of the tapered portion increases linearly from the tip to the base end.
- the fastening device of the present invention further comprises: The fastening aid; A bolt used together with the fastening aid; Equipped with.
- the bolt may be attached to the fastening aid. If the fastening device is shipped in this state, there is an advantage that the fastening worker does not have to attach the fastening aid to the bolt.
- Fig. 1 is an explanatory diagram of a fastening system 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- the fastening system 100 shown in Fig. 1 includes a fastening aid 10, the specific configuration of each part of which will be described later, and a bolt 20 used together with the fastening aid 10.
- Fig. 1 also shows a fastening target 30 in which a tapped hole 40 is formed.
- the bolt 20 may be a known bolt, and has a male threaded portion 22. Meanwhile, the tapped hole 40 formed in the object to be fastened 30 has a female threaded portion 42. The female threaded portion 42 and the male threaded portion 22 of the bolt 20 are screwed together via the fastening aid 10.
- FIG. 2 is an external view of the fastening aid 10 shown in FIG. 1, where FIG. 2(a) shows a front view of the fastening aid 10, FIG. 2(b) shows a left side view of the fastening aid 10, and FIG. 2(c) shows a right side view of the fastening aid 10.
- the fastening aid 10 shown in Figures 2(a) to 2(c) reinforces the female thread portion 42 of the tapped hole 40 formed in the fastening object 30 shown in Figure 1.
- the fastening aid 10 is particularly suitable for use when the fastening object 30 is a soft material such as a soft metal including resin or cast iron.
- the fastening aid 10 is made of stainless steel (e.g. SUS304), phosphor bronze, etc., and is coated with nickel or the like in consideration of workability and rust resistance, etc., but the stainless steel material may be one that is pre-coated with nickel or the like.
- the fastening aid 10 is manufactured by winding a wire 12 into a spiral shape. As shown in FIG. 2(a), the wire 12 has, for example, a roughly diamond-shaped cross section. This is itself a well-known technical matter that is also disclosed in Patent Document 1.
- the fastening aid 10 has a tapered portion 14 on the side where it is inserted into the tapped hole 40.
- the inner diameter ID of the tapered portion 14 is equal to or smaller than the root diameter of the male thread portion 22 of the bolt 20, and specifically, can be, for example, 85% to 95% of the root diameter of the male thread portion 22 of the bolt 20, preferably 87% to 94%, and more preferably 88% to 93%. This is one of the characteristic technical features of the fastening aid 10 that is not disclosed in Patent Document 1.
- the diameter of the tapered portion 14 increases linearly from the tip to the base.
- Linear also includes cases where the diameter increases in a curved manner.
- the second turn of the wire 12 is located on the outer or inner side of an imaginary straight line connecting the first and third turns of the wire 12 in FIG. 2(a).
- the number of turns N in the tapered portion 14 of the wire 12 can be, for example, 2 turns, as shown in FIG. 2(a). However, the number of turns in the tapered portion 14 may be 1 turn or more. However, since there is no need to unnecessarily increase the number of turns N, it is advisable to set it to, for example, 4 to 5 turns at most.
- the fastening aid 10 has a main body 16 adjacent to the base end side of the tapered portion 14. Unlike the tapered portion 14, the main body 16 does not intentionally increase or decrease the outside diameter OD. However, this does not exclude cases where the diameter increases or decreases.
- the effective number of turns Na in the main body 16 of the wire 12 can be, for example, 10 turns, as shown in Figure 2(a).
- the effective number of turns Na can also be determined appropriately depending on the length of the male thread portion 22 of the bolt 20 being used and the depth of the object 30 to be fastened. In this way, the fastening aid 10 of this embodiment has a degree of freedom in terms of the effective number of turns Na. However, in order for the fastening aid 10 to perform its function, it is preferable to ensure that the effective number of turns Na is 3 turns or more.
- the specific sizes of the fastening aid 10, such as the inner diameter ID of the tapered portion 14 shown in FIG. 2(b) and the outer diameter OD of the main body portion 16 shown in FIG. 2(c), can be selected according to the size of the bolt 20 to be used.
- the size of the bolt 20 is specified by a name (nominal diameter), such as M3, based on the diameter of the male thread portion 22.
- Table 1 shows examples of suitable sizes of fastening aids 10 for bolts 20 of typical standard sizes M3 to M14. Note that the values listed in Table 1, particularly small values such as the tolerances of the inner diameter ID and outer diameter OD, are not absolute and may deviate from those shown in Table 1 by, for example, about ⁇ 10%.
- Table 2 also shows examples of corresponding bolt 20 sizes. Note that the units of values in Tables 1 and 2 are all in mm.
- the "pitch” between the axial centers of adjacent wires 12 is “1.00 mm”
- the number of turns N at the tapered portion 14 of the wire 12 is 2 turns.
- the “effective number of turns Na" of the main body 16 of the wire 12 is “3 turns or more”
- the “inner diameter ID” of the tapered portion 14 is “4.55 mm ⁇ 0.12 mm”
- the “outer diameter OD” of the main body 16 is "7.33 mm ⁇ 0.26 mm” It states that:
- Specific fastening methods for the fastening system 100 to the fastening object 30 include the following: (1) The fastening aid 10 is attached to the male threaded portion 22 of the bolt 20 from the main body 16 side by screwing it several times (e.g., 2 to 3 times) from the tip side, (2) In this state, the tapered portion 14 of the fastening assistant tool 10 is aligned with the tapped hole 40, (3) Rotate the head 24 of the bolt 20 using a power tool such as a commercially available general-purpose power screwdriver or a hand tool such as a hexagonal wrench (not shown). This causes the bolt 20 to be fastened to the object 30 to be fastened.
- a power tool such as a commercially available general-purpose power screwdriver or a hand tool such as a hexagonal wrench (not shown). This causes the bolt 20 to be fastened to the object 30 to be fastened.
- the relationship between the fastening aid 10, the bolt 20, and the object to be fastened 30 is generally as follows.
- the internal diameter of the female thread portion 42 of the tapped hole 40 may be, for example, 6.3 mm for M6.
- the pitch of the male thread portion 22 of the bolt 20 is narrower than the pitch of the wire 12 of the fastening aid 10. Therefore, the fastening aid 10 is attached to the bolt 20 with the end portion on the main body 16 side expanded at least in the extension direction by the male thread portion 22.
- the outer diameter of the tapered portion 14 of the fastening aid 10 is smaller than the inner diameter of the female thread portion 42 of the tapped hole 40. Therefore, when the fastening aid 10 is attached to the bolt 20, the tip of the tapered portion 14 is smoothly guided into the tapped hole 40.
- the fastening device may be shipped with the fastening aid 10 attached to the bolt 20 so that the fastening worker does not have to perform the above-mentioned (1) work of attaching the fastening aid 10 to the bolt 20.
- the fastening aid 10 is attached from the main body 16 side to the male threaded portion 22 of the bolt 20 by screwing at least, for example, two turns from the tip side, the attached state can be maintained even if there is vibration that occurs during transportation or contact with other fastening devices, but it may be screwed in with more turns.
- the fastening aid 10 of this embodiment can be used to reverse rotate the head 24 of the bolt 20 using a commercially available general-purpose electric screwdriver or the like, thereby releasing only the bolt 20 while the fastening aid 10 remains on the object to be fastened 30.
- FIG. 1 is an explanatory diagram of a fastening system 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- 2 is an external view of the fastening assisting tool 10 shown in FIG. 1 .
